Lovely Thai restaurant doing street food. There 3 weeks ago, a bit cold inside I had to keep my coat on.

This place is authentic, warm and welcoming. They have traditional thai/Isan dishes you don't find in normal Thai restaurants, and the food is wonderful. I find Thai restaurants very much aimed at Westerners often, serving dishes like egg fried rice whilst claiming to be authentic Thai, this place is as close to Thailand as I have found in the UK. Go and enjoy

Great food, great atmosphere but a bit expensive as we spent £60 for two people for 2 mains and 3 tapas sides, waiting staff all very tentative and nice

The best Thai food outside of Thailand. The restaurant is wacky and frenetic but I loved it. I travel widely in Asia so I know what to expect, but ensure you read the menu carefully, they do not use chopsticks in here so don't ask for them

El ambiente es genial, incluyendo la decoración aleatoria, el servicio fue puntual y la comida era la mejor y nos llevó de vuelta de vacaciones 🙂 algunos consejos después de haber mirado algunos otros comentarios no tan grandes leer el menú no solo la comida porque te dicen cómo es, entrantes y la red pueden unirse (otro rasgo genuino de Asia) picante está indicado. Ordered the Khao Soi Gai (which says award winning curry on the menu), turns out it was microwaved curry on noodles and when served, it wasn't even hot, let alone warm. We saw the server in the kitchen pouring out two tupperwares of curry with chicken onto the noodles. Told the server the curry is cold, she asked are you sure and microwaved the whole bowl of noodles for us. Didn't finished as we are afraid we might get food poisoning from cold curry, which we don't even know if it is cooked fresh today.

Very tasty food as reasonable price with very friendly and efficient waitresses. Quirky interior, would definitely recommend.

Beautiful and unique decor that makes you feel like you're in Thailand, delicious food that makes you question why you don't eat Thai food more often and very friendly, professional, sweet, helpful and patient staff that would make you happily come back again. Highly recommend this place! Can't praise it enough! Big thank you to all the staff for being amazing!

Went for the lunch deal 2 courses £12. Good value, quick service when I mentioned i had an appointment to get to. Not my favourite Thai restaurant in Newcastle but would return, good vibes and decor

Fuimos aquí por el cumpleaños de mi amigo, la camarera inicial era amable, nos mostró a nuestros asientos y tomó nuestros pedidos. 1 problema de la calle era que nuestros entrantes llegaron al mismo tiempo que nuestros platos principales, así que tuvimos una mesa muy estrecha! Todo llegó bastante rápido, pero parte de la comida no estaba muy caliente, pero por lo demás estaba bien en la presentación, sabor, etc. Era caro para lo que era. El servicio después de esto fue extremadamente lento, pedimos más bebidas, pero la siguiente camarera que habíamos parecido olvidarse de nosotros, ya que ella estaba vagando charlando con sus colegas unos minutos después de que habíamos pedido. Luego tuvimos que marcar a otro camarero para pedir la factura y luego hacerlo todo de nuevo cuando entregaron la factura y necesitábamos pagar. ¡Intentaron agregar un ‘cargo por servicio’ que ni siquiera dignificamos con una respuesta! Nos dividimos la cuenta y luego la camarera terminó persiguiéndonos ya que habíamos pagado mal a las 5 p.m.! Le dije que solo teníamos nuestras tarjetas, por lo que la tarifa de transacción de visa/mastercard le costaría a su negocio más de 5 p., por lo que en realidad perderían dinero, pero ella no quería saberlo. Estaba feliz de pagar lo que debíamos, pero el principio de esto era simplemente ridículo. No voy a volver con prisa.

I called at this Zaap at teatime... needed some Thai soup to warm me up! The staff were all attentive and the wonton soup was scrumptious 😋. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes home cooked Thai style street food..... it is great 👍

I love it here! My favourite Thai place in Newcastle! The corn cakes are sooooo good, my go to is the Chili and basil chicken with sticky rice, it’s phenomenal!! Very well priced for what you get, bathrooms are weird vibes tho I can’t lie.

Fab food fab drinks...we looked at but didnt order anything off the dessert menu but we will next time. Also the friendliest staff in Newcastle IMO which is high praise

This place is just filled with flavour and nice décor. For a start, it has an open kitchen layout and it is wonderful to see the chefs cooking. The service is also fast and efficient. The food is very tasty and properly spicy (if you ask for it !) and there is so much variety to choose from ! The price has gotten a bit expensive for the quantity provided over the last 3 years. Otherwise it is a lovely place to go have a nice Thai meal (bit commercialised though, as per my Thai friends !).

I tried a Tom Yum soup with rice, and it was good. The seafoods was fresh. The vibe is amazing, mimicking street food stands in Bangkok. The price was reasonable though, all worth with the price. They also have an excellent service. They worked fast and responsive, and with smiles.

It looks the part, the staff were efficient and the food was okay, if a little overcooked. If you want a quick meal and aren't too bothered about paying a bit extra, then give it a go.

My wife and I had a wonderful meal at Zaap Thai Street Food, and the restaurant really does transport you to Bangkok, just like they promise! The lively atmosphere, with all the colours and street food vibes, made it feel like we were right in the heart of Thailand. We started with "Kiew Tod", crispy wontons that were perfect for sharing, and the "Koor Moo Yang", grilled pork with a fantastic dipping sauce. For mains, I had the "Pad Thai Bo Ran" with prawns, which had the perfect balance of sweetness and spice, while my wife enjoyed the "Pla Sa Moon Prai", a flavourful fried fish dish packed with herbs. The whole experience was authentic and fun, from the food to the ambiance. If you're looking for great Thai food that truly gives you a taste of Bangkok, Zaap Thai is a must-visit!

Zaap always hits the spot with proper hot, zingy Tom Yum. Recommended.

Good place and when you enter you get the feeling like you are in Thailand. Atmosphere is designed to feel real Thailand street food vibe. Food is also delicious and fair price. Staff is also very friendly. Food preparing is also quick and fast.

Beautiful restaurant, it is so vibrant and colourful. The food is delicious too, the chicken was so tender and the salad was very fresh. Very yummy! Recommend.

Massive menu with great choices. We all had excellent meals and a cool Singha beer tower. The service was very fast and prawn crackers are a really nice side. Pad Krapao looked very traditional and had a nice spice kick

We love everyone here and the food is always so delicious. We ordered three mains to share: tofu pad thai, chicken green curry, and a spicy breaded crispy chicken salad. Also sweet corn fritters for starter (the best). All perfect. Always sit in the tuk tuk if possible!!!! Amazing open kitchen, authentic decor of course and super friendly staff who are always up for a laugh. One of my favourite places. Will always come back here when we’re in Newcastle. Thanks guys xx

Food is really good, served in decent portions, and there's so many options to choose from. The price is definetely a steal. Customer service is amazing. I can't say anything bad, even if i wanted to.

Absolutely delicious meal here, really took us back to those incredible flavours from Thailand itself. Staff were super attentive without being over the top and we got seated straight away on a Saturday night and food was super prompt in coming out after we'd ordered! Wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Great food, Great staff, Great place. Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai and to anyone who's yet to try! No. 37 khow pad rice with chicken is always delicious - I don't know how they make it so tasty but glad they do. Also terrific is the No. 79 with beef and No. 80 chicken pad gra tium prik thai And they do beer towers which is great fun for even a small group. All the staff, including front of house, bar, kitchen and serving are super friendly (and very patient with first time customers who are wondering where to start!) .

Food is amazing love the pad Thai noodles they do, packed full of flavour with a generous portion of meat. They also do a beer tower too which is great when with friends.

Pathetic restaurant in whole Newcastle. I went on Saturday with my friends. The waitress was very rude, extremely bad behaviour 1st they said you can order food late on the gate. Then i told her about my allergies she was yelling on the that. When the food arrived they serve it like we were eating for free. The food was horrible iy had foul smell. We didn’t finish the food meanwhile the waiters were coming and saying we are closing we are closing every other minute they were coming saying this. If they didn’t want to serve it they should have said no on the entrance we would have gone somewhere else had our meal. Never ever going there and will never recommend this.i hope that waitress never serve food to anyone she is horrible person.

Wonderful food! Slightly on the pricier side but it kept us full for a very long time. The staff are incredibly nice, and our food arrived quite fast. I'm definitely coming back on our yearly trips to Newcastle!

Got seated at the tuktuk, which is so fun! Food was decent. Ordered tomyam, pad thai and green cury. The spicyness is toned down to almost none- so everyone can enjoy. Their ive green milk tea was great. Excellent service with good atmosphere!

Food was amazing, nice atmosphere, and generally good service. The reason for the 1 star on service is the bill comes with service charge as an option, then in bold the total including service. The server never asked if we wanted to pay the service, just instantly used the total. If it's optional, it should not be part of the bill, and certainly should not be the default. This is not the USA!

Probably the most authentic Thai food you can get in the UK from a “chain” that I’ve experienced. So many unique options, not just standard dishes!

1st time visit & we thought it was great!! The decor was set out like a street in Thailand & the food didn't disappoint either. Main courses were lovely & just the right amount. Service was good & we came away thinking we would go back sometime in the future.

The food was really good. My favorite Thai food place but the service was really bad . Not all staffs are bad some are really nice. I’ve been there a couple of times and I was really disappointed today. I ordered no 50 but the staff misheard that. My friends even pointed out the no 50 again to correct her. But when she double check I wasn’t paying attention (that’s my fault) and she still wrote the wrong dish. When we got our order I said that dish wasn’t the one I ordered. She could have show me some respect and can explain but she didn’t. She didn’t even say sorry to me (not a single word). When I said I pointed the dish and she said “ but when I double check you said yes”. We couldn’t hear her clearly and she should have write the right number on the first place. We ate and we even paid service charge because of the food and other staffs are nice. It’s a shame that the place I love have such a staff with bad behavior. Please train your staff more. I’ve been to many places (they always try their best to solve if anything happens) and this is the worst customer experience so far. If I get to experience that again, I won’t come and recommend others. P.S love the food

The is one of the most authentic Thai restaurant I have ever tried coming moving to the UK. Coming from an Asian who has always had Thai cuisine, the food makes me feel like I’m back in Thailand eating! Everything that we ordered hit every spot! Plus the whole decoration from the seating to the lighting is beautiful. I will definitely recommend everyone to come and give Zaap Thai Street a go.

I wish I'd known about this place sooner. Service is excellent, the food was amazing and of course there's the whole Thai themed experience. The thing most apparent to me was the level of customer service. It was 1st class. I felt like their only customer. It wasn't oppressive, the staff weren't on me the very second I'd set my cutlery down, but they were aware and ready for when I needed them. The food was amazing, served quickly and tasted fantastic. The kitchen is all open so you can see what's going on. The waiting staff were really helpful in explaining the menu, and checked in a few mouthfuls in, to see if I was OK. And then of course, you've got the venue. I'm a bit cynical of the whole, "get some pallets for people to sit on and call it street food" thing, but this isn't like that. This is a full on Thailand themed restaurant. They have everything, including the front of a bus. I've never been anywhere like it! But as I say, for me, the venue is a nice-to-have, it makes it fun and I'd love to bring my family, but it's the basics that are important to me: Cleanliness, food, and service, which were all impeccable.

Ahhh yet another establishment jumps on the “street food” bandwagon - I just don’t get it - I’ve been to Thailand and had their street food and it was nothing like this. It’s just normal Thai food marketed as “street” with inflated prices. Average food, small portions and expensive.

Good was really great. We had Massamam curry (pork) sticky rice and Pad Thai. Both were delicious. We had take out and I’d say portions were small. Eat here but don’t get take out. The my use deliveroo. We ordered our food at 6.30 and it arrived at 9. Trust Pilot rates them 1 ⭐️. Just go eat here, the food won’t disappoint

Fantastic food which all arrived very quickly. Menu is quite overwhelming when you first arrive but managed to decipher it and we both enjoyed our dishes. Priced well, staff are friendly and Zaap is a nice casual place to eat.

Second time here, excellent service/ food and atmosphere. My daughter slipped off her seat and spilled her drink (her own mistake) they quickly attended to the spill without needing to get their attention and brought out a replacement no questions asked. We must have been the family anywhere would be pleased to see leave but they remained polite, bubbly and attentive throughout.

I wouldn't recommend the Pad Ga Prao. I ordered this because I was craving for it but can't make it at home as it is difficult to find Thai Basil here. But, unfortunately, it tastes nothing like Pad Ga Prao that I used to have back home or in Thailand. I think they used regular Basil, which is super disappointing. However, their service was top notch!

As with my recent visit to York this is some of the best Thai food I've tasted, nice place and the staff are great. Decoration makes you feel you're there in Thailand

Everytime I’ve been there the food has been amazingg. The service is verryyyy quick. I will say that the food isn’t as spicy as I thought it was going to be (but you can add extra spice if you want as there’s some chilli flakes and stuff in the restaurant) but tbh my spice tolerance is a bit messed up hahaha. I go everytime I visit Newcastle and I recommend it to all my friends. Definitely worth a visit

I can never fault this place. The staff are great, and always ask about allergens/dietary requirements. The food is always beautifully flavoured. The menu is huge.

I ordered Som Tum Pla Rah through Deliveroo but It tasted like Som Tum Thai. I’m so disappointed.

I use to come quite often to Zaap with my family. It is always very appreciated. Unfortunately my experience was disappointing today. The food used to be very good, it was average today for me and my 2 daughters; but awful for my last daughter. Then came the bill - I paid cash - I realized that there is a "strongly suggested" tip policy implemented. It is in bold in the middle of the bill - but usually I am only looking at the total amount. They assume that I would be paying for the tip. It felt to be forced. To me it is an increase of 12%. I did let the tip to the waitress - they are doing their best - but it feels that it was forced. Long Story short - I use to like Zaap. It has lost its soul. Well - probably it is the end of a cycle.

Absolutely brilliant. My/our fave place to eat in Newcastle. Cheap, reliable, taste is amazing. We have a go to main dish that we usually have and get 2 bowls so we cam share it. We normally get 3 starters to share too. Starters and mains usually come at the same time (which is the way here, and as I know in Thailand). Food always comes out quite quickly. They have managed to ensure that you get a "Street" type feel about the place. The Staff are amazing, they always have various deals on. Just quite simply 5 stars. Brilliant

The food was alright however the staffs weren’t. We waited long time to get our order taken and not everyone enjoyed their food. I don’t recommend any of their noodle dish. When we asked for the bill in the end there was service charge included and we said it’s optional and don’t needed to pay but the staff came and said we have to pay for the service charge and asked everyone to pay for it which they shouldn’t have

Zaap…what can I say? What an amazing place. Ranging from an accurate Thai industrial aesthetic to a spectacular amount of delicious food. It’s very interactive too, you can even eat in Tuk Tuks! I had the best chicken skewers in my life, the texture being soft and delicate but the taste being so vibrant and exquisite. In addition, the staff were so kind! Always looking out for their customers. Well done Zaap! Thanks for a lovely day out!

Wanted visit here for a while huge disappointment for my daughter I had complained about duck being so hard she couldn’t eat it so only ate the buns unfortunately ordered two of these at 5.95 each they are not cheap. The waitress could see all of the duck left. I tried it and was rock hard. She regularly orders it at other establishments never like this. Waitress went to kitchen staff. We were not offered a replacement or alternative. I had curry which was lovely but let down by my daughter meal when got bill the waitress knocked ten per cent off but really when all she ate was bun not good enough. Will not return. More due fact waitress felt more could been done. Possibly lack of training. What a waste of money.

The food is amazing. One of the best meals I've ever had. The wine was very nice too. Will definitely return and recommend.
