Zizzi - Chester in Cheshire West and Chester

This is the second time we have been, we had Brooke serve us yesterday and it was genuinely the best service we’ve ever received, lovely friendly and when I was feeling ill they helped accommodate me with having a new dish with no fuss, amazing place would recommend to anyone in the area or on holiday here

We were met by Em and shown to our table, we were starving so asked to order our drinks & starter right away , we had the mozzarella bomb so share, Waw mains were carbonara but a spicy one, absolutely loved it and my husband had spicy chicken pasta. The food was absolutely delicious but the service was AMAZING, Zara was our server, polite friendly and nothing was too much. Thank you for making what was a difficult and stressful day to an enjoyable one. Will be back soon , Diolch

Had a lovely meal here and the waiter Eleanor was super nice and did her best to accommodate my food intolerance. Being on keto is a pain but this salmon and avocado salad was delicious (the avocado was sadly missing but they added extra greens for me), I really recommend it!

Our server was amazing unfortunately the chef swearing every time an order came in or something went wrong made the atmosphere awful! I wouldn’t mind if it was just but there were 3 tables! The food wasn’t fantastic such a shame! I did make our server aware when we left what was happening with the chef she said she would make the manager aware

We recently dined at Zizzi and unfortunately had a very poor experience. Service was incredibly slow, and despite ordering a starter, main, and dessert, we encountered several issues. Firstly, we were informed that some of the dishes we had chosen were unavailable due to missing ingredients. This was extremely frustrating as we had already waited a considerable amount of time for our order to be taken. Secondly, we were overcharged for a drink we did not order. When we brought this to the attention of the server, we were told they could not issue a refund and that we would need to contact their head office. I contacted the head office almost two months ago, but have yet to receive any resolution. This lack of response and the initial poor service have left me extremely disappointed. I strongly advise against dining at this particular Zizzi location. There are many other restaurants in the area that offer a far superior dining experience.

I booked a table of 8 for New Year’s Eve. The whole experience was utterly appalling. They had a single chef working in the open kitchen and it was clear that they were not able to cope with the volume of orders coming in. The food and drinks took ages to arrive. Most of the food was cold on arrival. Half of the pizzas were burnt and inedible. The food all arrived at different times. The first 3 of our group had finished their food before anyone else got theirs. The last got his pizza only after the other 7 had finished eating. We had to skip the desserts, even though some of us ordered from a fixed price three course menu, because the first 2 courses took over 2 hours. I felt so sorry for the staff as this seemed to be a total failure to staff the restaurant properly on such a busy night. I cannot think of any reason why I will ever have cause to go into a Zizzi restaurant again after this terrible experience! Our waitress adjusted the bill to reflect how bad this was. This is the first time I have ever asked for a reduction on a restaurant bill.

We came in on New Year’s Day without a booking, the service was great, super family friendly and fast despite being short staffed. The perfect location for families with young children. Great food too, thank you.

As per previous reviews and the experiences of other diners we found that there were 'not enough' front of house staff to cope with about only 20% of covers in the restaurant as it started to become busier approx 4:30pm onwards. Seated promptly but then waited over 25 mins for our drinks order to arrive at our table. Only two waiting on staff......... Our food order was taken but my wife's Lasagne main was forgotten about and didn't arrive with other main and side orders .......Sweet potato fries arrived barely warm to the table. After an upfront apology from the manager at our table we had to wait for the Lasagne and replacement fries. We were told these would both be deducted from our bill (which they were) and we were offered another drink FOC as a sincere apology from the manager. Gratefully accepted... Please take on board the negatives amongst all reviews for Zizzi Chester as you have a nice restaurant and food is good standard. Just need service to improve with additional front of house staff??

Had an amazing time last night, good food and really good vibe, we were served by Brooke who was really helpful and had a great attitude definitely made a difference to our experience

Horrible service.... Better not to visit unless you want to starve to death... 3 service staff are not able to manage 4 tables. We were waiting for 10 minutes to get a table... No one came to our table for another 30 minutes then we decided to walk out and went to pizza express. Pizza express was lovely. We got served like immediately.

Despite the restaurant not being busy, the staff were overwhelmed and the wait time was excessive. Took forever to order, pasta came out cold as it was sat on the side for ages, I was given dirty cutlery and trying to ger dessert menus took nearly 20mins. What a shame

Went in for a quick bite to eat! Iffat couldn't do enough for us. Service was brilliant, very attentive staff. And food was lovely too :)

Slow, cold food and poor. Visited with friends this weekend. Took 15 minuets to get sat down from the door when we had booked prior. A further 20 minuets to take a drinks order to be told nearly every wine we wanted was out of stock. Food arrived after being in the resultant about an hour 15. Never asked more drinks, starters were all really good however not worth the wait. We ordered the Christmas 3 courses. Waited another hour for our mains, 2 pastas arrived cold and one not at all as we were told it was burnt. Had to wait 20 minuets for the replacements while the rest of us had to eat. So disappointed none of us could eat together. No apology for this. Ended up cancelling our desserts due to how long we’d already been in there and the incompetence. Would avoid and wouldn’t visit another.

Service poor. Restaurant wasn't very clean. Food took to long to arrive. Was served something that was meant to be spagetti carbonara. It got sent back but had no apologies from management. Servers looked lost and didn't seem to know what they where doing. Tried to charge for meal that got sent back and asked for tip when paying.

Having gone for a meal with six friends we ordered food the five people I was with got there food mine didn't arrive after waiting 10 minutes I called the manager over she said sorry I will go get it after another 10 minute wait it arrived it was absolutely discusting all the spaghetti was stuck together and it was basically just tinned tomatoes with no meat in at all they them sent me another little dish and that was just tomatoes as well the manager even told me the had had other complaints about it that day ,gave me a free drink and didn't charge me for the so called spaghetti won't be going again

Absolutely disgusted with this place. The service was awful. Group of 8, all our meals arrived separate times and was average at best, took them over hour and half to serve us one course and one round of drinks. Overcharged one of the couples and set up a refund after we queried it, and it hasn't gone through to their bank. Stay away at all costs!

Great lunch after Christmas Markets We where looking for somewhere to have a bit of a treat after an afternoon in Chester shopping, we decided to give Zizzi a try and so glad we did , very pleasant service with a great atmosphere and delicious food , we had a bottle of wine to share , only complaint was it was a little warm , but on request they soon gave us some ice to chill it

Excellent service. Greeted by manager as soon as we walked through the door. We had Jack as our server. He was genuinely amazing! Food was perfect, beyond expectation! Definitely will be returning.

Service on arrival was really good, welcoming and friendly by our server Em C. Our food and drinks order was taken quickly but we did have a wait for our food. When it did arrive it was only warm which was disappointing. However it was still very nice. We went for just a starter and dessert which was just the right amount. Not too filling. Would recommend the Basil Arancini and Raspberry cheesecake. The mocktails were nice too. All in all a good experience 😊

Absolutely amazing fresh food with a lovely ,relaxed atmosphere and quick service too! The garlic bread was to die for, by far the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to.

Service was awful apart from Luisa who was trying her best, waited ages on drinks and to be served. Lasagne was cold in the middle which was taken off the bill but the waiting for drinks was ridiculous. Starter was amazing. Would go back again for that if it weren't for everything else. Atmosphere was chilled, lots of older couples and groups. Never again 😒

Decided to try this out after going to the Christmas markets, waited 10 minutes to be seated as staff were walking past and not acknowledging us. Finally sat down and ordered which was all fine. Then unfortunately we waited an hour and a half for the food to be brought out. Food was cold and small portions considering the price. We ordered a side of garlic bread and despite asking twice, never got brought out. Such a disappointing experience and slow service

I attended on Fri 22nd Nov with my sister and had a wonderful dining experience, however a week later on sat 30th Nov I attended with 3 different family members and it was awful. We were seated next to an open door and it was freezing. I asked a waitress if we could move and she said no! I then asked the front of house if she could close the door and she said no. So I asked her if we could move to an empty table about 12 feet away and she said, “will it make any difference?” And I replied it would as our table was freezing! Service was incredibly slow. It took about another 10 mins before the waitress came to take drinks orders. The cocktail I had last week was beautifully decorated with flowers. This week the same cocktail was just a drink and some ice! How can a week apart be such a different experience? Clearly you were under staffed with no clear management direction! I am a local and so eat in Chester regularly and had picked Zizi for my son’s 16th birthday as I’d had a lovely experience the week before. I hope you can provide me with some feedback as to why it went so wrong?

Second visit and we will keep coming back. So attentive, especially due to a nut allergy in the party. Food and price are great, nice atmosphere and they will help wherever they can to make the experience positive.

After a poor experience a year ago at Chester Zizzis, we finally dared to try again. This time was so much better all around. Excellent food and excellent service ! We had booked and arrived 15 minutes early. We were shown to our table and given menus……. nobody came to take a drinks order so my wife went to the bar. We ordered drinks and then another wait to order food. Starters arrived one was hot and one was cold. When the mains eventually arrived we had been there an hour and a half. Portion size quite small and my wife’s chicken skewer was not properly cooked. Complained to the duty manager who in fairness quickly organised a substitute meal. There were 4 or 5 staff serving tables but only one in the kitchen that I could see. Lots of people turned away while we sat there , I would estimate 50-70 as Chester was very busy so missed sales there for sure. Staff very pleasant but it wasn’t busy due to turning people away.

Here for the first time visiting in chester, on arrival, we had a warm and freindly welcome by Emily who accommodated us a table at short notice and made us feel very welcome. Emily gave us time and helped choose our meals and suggested a range of popular menu options. Definitely worth a visit here in chester, thanks to Emily and her unmatched service & smile. Thankyou

Very slow service. Had 2 hours to eat before daughter started work 5 minutes walk away but she didn’t have time to order her dessert from the 3 course set meal she ordered. Despite asking and informing the server, to be told “oh sorry about that”. Won’t be returning or recommending.

Lovely lady Katie Fserving us, could have helped anymore and a shout out to the helpful manager. The cherry fizz (mocktail) was devine and the pizza was lovely if too much for one.

The front of house staff were lovely but the food was very poor. My partner ordered breaded chicken fillet with potatoes and green beans but it had to be returned because the beans and potatoes were so hard you could not get a fork in them or chew them. She replaced her meal with Carbonara which was OK. I had sea bass with red pepper, green beans and potatoes. The sea bass was small, overcooked, had little flavour and mushy texture. The beans and potatoes were better than my partner’s but not good with very little flavour and unpleasant texture. The red pepper was OK. Because the potatoes and vegetables were placed under the sea bass, it was as if the steam from the sea bass had condensed onto them so the potatoes had lost any crispness and the whole meal was sitting in a film of water and oil. The food and drink were quite expensive but my partner’s meal was not charged for.

Arrival was fine. We ordered our mains with the waitress, she then returned to the table to advise the main ordered wasn't available as there was no mushroom sauce. She then said she would give us time to pick an alternative and come back. She never came back. We then had to attract the attention of another staff member to order. Mains were good. We then ordered a dessert, the new lemon meringue cookie, only to be told that really available either, as they hadn't brought the gas for the blowtorch, so again picked an alternative. Overall, the food was nice, but the service was ok and the fact the selected meal choices weren't available was a disappointment.

Brilliant as always. Gorgeous starters and main and even better when you can use tastecard. Eleanor our waitress was very attentive and made sure we had a lovely evening .

We really like this Zizzi as it’s always warm and welcoming. Today was an ok experience but the chairs at the table we were sitting at were not clean and neither was the surrounding area or floor, salmon was sadly off the menu which 3 of the party of 5 had chosen and we only found this out as we came to order our food, and our food was not hot. We understand sometimes things go wrong and it was not a terrible experience, just not quite the great experience we did usually have. There was only ourselves and 3 other parties in when we arrived. My mum said we’ll go somewhere else next time. I’m sure we will be back at some point but these things can be off-putting.

Served by Abbie, great service and very friendly. We ate off the set menu and the starters were the highlight for us, had the mozzarella bomb and the chicken spiedini, both tasted amazing! Mains were okay, beef ragu didn’t have much beef unfortunately, and then had the salted caramel brownie for dessert, it said it was a warm dessert however it was served cold but still tasted delicious as it was

What a fabulous restaurant, my family and I visited Zizzis tonight, and had the most beautiful meal, service was impeccable, Eleanor our waitress couldn’t do enough for us. Service was quick, with the perfect amount of time between courses. Eleanor was so lovely, and obviously brilliant at her job. The food was delicious, and portions were huge. We will most definitely be returning.

Visited today approx 2pm. Waited to be seated but no staff to be seen anywhere? Waited for a couple of minutes and gave up! Went to the market instead.

Absolutely disgusting would never order or eat out hear again staff are rude food was stone cold and overpriced my dead gran could cook better food and give better service would give less then 1 star of was available

Table booked for 8pm for 9 people. Arrived to be told table not ready, could split the group up onto 2 different tables, including 5 people on a table of four. 2 of the group left to eat elsewhere. Had to wait 40 minutes for starters, waiter was great rest was awful

We chose Zizzi as one of our party is celiac and the information looked great on the website. But when we asked about the GF menu, instead she was given a folder and told to find the information herself. Our starters were far too salty and cold. Nobody came to ask how our food was. When our plates were eventually taken, we told the staff. Our mains came and both pasta dishes were drenched in salt and the macaroni cheese was hard and bone dry. We sat for 40 minutes with our plates in front of us and had to ask for them to be taken away-by this time we’d decided not to order the dessert of the 3 course meal. The toilets were disgusting and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. This is a relatively new restaurant in Chester-I’m baffled how things are that bad so soon.

Salmon and pesto risotto was delicious and our server, Grace, was charming and attentive. The baked cheesecake was the best I’ve had in a long time.
