The best restaurants in Oundle East Northamptonshire East Midlands

We’ve been twice and the food is wonderful. They have to set up everything for kitchen and tables from scratch each week, as it’s an experiment to test demand, using a local cafe premises, which I find amazing. We had starters of scallops with pork belly and crackling, rabbit terrine, then duck and venison. Stunning. Good wine too. Definitely recommend if you love well cooked, beautifully presented food. Not expensive either.

Fabulous place. Nicely decorated and the food was just amazing. On top of all that, the staff were friendly and helpful. Can't say enough good things about this place. Wished we lived nearer Tewkesbury!

My Mum comes for lunch every month or so and we tend to end up at Dexter's. Food is always consistently great and the staff are lovely. Highly recommended.

Fantastic food, really good service. The New York burger is well recommended and so is the chicken burger. Ice cream cocktails also good. We were recommended to try this 50s diner experience, and it was well worth the 20 mile drive. We will be back.

We had a wonderful Christmas Day meal here on Wednesday. Been looking forward to it since we booked it. We weren’t disappointed. Everything was on point. Food was outstanding. Clean plates all round. The service was amazing. It was busy. We went to the second sitting which was sold out. The staff were like a well oiled machine. Attentive, quick without being rude, they were under pressure as it was so busy but each one knew what they had to do. Fantastic. Hats off to you all. We loved it xx

Sadly, the Kings Head has now closed, and is unlikely to re-open...another victom of rising energy costs.

Visited on a busy Sunday and had an excellent bowl of Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash soup, as well as an excellent latte. There is always a good atmosphere and it is a relaxing place to visit.

Me and my friend Annette stopped at The Shuckburgh Arms last Saturday until Sunday morning. We had such a lovely time we didn't want to leave. The hospitality of Georgia and Paul was absolutely fantastic they were so warming to us and made you feel very welcome. The evening meal and breakfast was really nice I would definitely come back again. The room was cosy and the bed was very comfy. Thank you Georgia and Paul.

Fantastic makeover for this traditional village pub. Reopened on Christmas eve, nice selection of Nene Valley Brewery beers as well as the usual lager and spirit selection. They how to start coffee, pastries and full menu soon, but this is a phenomenal start and brings so much life into the village!!
