The best restaurants in Moreton and Fyfield Epping Forest East of England

We had lunch but very disappointed. The lamb which was a roll sliced was very over cooked burnt on one side, they were understaffed for a Sunday.

We have dined here often for various celebrations and it’s never disappointed. It’s a beautiful location, the building itself is stunning and it’s decorated beautifully to feel traditional pub, but with a bistro-chic interior that feels luxurious but relaxed. The menu is just exquisite, whatever mood your in they cater for it, I’ve had various meals but tonight I had the roast platter with my husband and it was faultless, we both said the best roast we have ever had. What made tonight’s visit so much different was the maitre d, he impressed me by knowing everything on the menu from what it is to how it’s cooked, the wine selection, incredibly personable, friendly, humorous and customer service was impeccable. He’s genuinely passionate about what he does and this stood him out as a real asset to the dog & pickle, he brought character to the service and we were extremely impressed. However all staff are clearly very good at what they do and they make the visit a seamless experience and we did not need to request anything without them asking if we needed it. All in all this continues to be my favourite spot and in all the fancy restaurants I’ve eaten in from Michelin stars in London, to bistros in chianti, this by far exceeds all expectations of perfection.

This is not only just a standard Indian restaurant. they pull all the stops out to make it a great night.. DJs on a weekend and they are 5 star for your private party… I called up and asked for a certain wine brand for a party I was attending and they went all out to get in my request. An amazing night dancing away and can’t wait to book for another event… to everyone at vojans you all need a pat on the back and keep doing what your doing. 😊😊

Our friends booked a table today to take us for Sunday lunch. The roasts and puddings were delicious, and we were glad we didn’t have a starter as we are all stuffed!! 😋 the staff and the service was fantastic! Lovely quiet country pub in beautiful settings. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

Overdue review from various visits from the back end of 2024. Birthdays in August x 2 Works party in December Boxing Day lunch I have written many reviews on my thread for the Chequers over the years still our favourite eating establishment in the area. Will keep this short and sweet. From the moment you enter the premises you are met by a warm and friendly smile normally Julie who we have know there for twenty years. Pre meal drinks at the bar are always served very professionally. We like to sit in restaurant area, the waiting staff are trained to highest level better than many decent London restaurants, if you ever wanting for anything you only have to look up and someone is with you. The food choice is extensive, always comes out perfectly cooked and well presented at the same time if you are a table of two or ten. The wine list is great and the waiters/waitresses are well trained on how to serve it, if you order the wine of the nice side of the page you get lovely large glasses. As previously mentioned in my reviews on the Chequers, I always find this restaurant extremely good value for money and always feel happy to pay the bill, people on here moan about the price of fillet steak for example ( our favourite) in London you will struggle to find one with the trimmings for under £100 for context! Superb meal, lovely spacious restaurant, great staff and delicious currys. We have been going to this curry house for over 25 years and it never fails to deliver on price, quality and excellent service.

We’ve been twice and loved it both times. First time was inside for cocktails and dinner. Second time was drinks outside in beer garden. Both times we had our mini schnauzer Leo and it’s super dog friendly (just can’t sit in main restaurant) Love the atmosphere- great vibe both times with great service and very welcoming. The food was lovely but a little on the expensive side. I wouldn’t rush back for the food but the atmosphere and service will bring us back- would come more if it wasn’t so expensive.

Nice breakfast. Not the cheapest though.
