The best restaurants in Theydon Bois Epping Forest East of England

Qué maravillosa noche para nuestra fiesta de cumpleaños recientes - enmarcada en un excepcional lugar de paneles de madera/habitación con vistas hacia el bosque desde el campo de golf (hoyo 19). Servicio de primera clase y catering top y todos estábamos de acuerdo en que era uno de los mejores partidos habían sido a cualquiera en los últimos años. Lugar y catering altamente recomendado para fiestas y eventos, y el menú de día parecía por encima del promedio para los golfistas. Excelente opción de bar y cerveza. Me pregunto si se puede comer allí y no ser un miembro? Sería bueno también!

This is my third visit to Bonhomie since it changed from Belgique. I have to say that I was not particularly impressed with my previous two visits, having always ordered the avocado on toast. The first time it was served on white bread without having been given the option to chose another type of bread. Also, it was literally what it said in the tin i.e. a sliced avocado on a slice of white bread, no dressing. The second time I said that I would like to have it on brown bread please. Again, it came as a sliced avocado on a slice of bread. Both times it came with a poached egg and a minimum amount of garnish. Nothing to do with the nice avocado on toast served in other local cafés. For this reason, when my friend suggested Bonhomie today,  I said that I wasn't a fan. However, as it was convenient for it is local, we went. Our waiter was a young man, that couldn't understand my foreign accent, despite my having been in this country for 20 years, my partner being British and me being a professional person developing my profession in the area. I repeated my order of green tea, avocado on toast (I thought maybe third time lucky), no butter several times but he kept asking for my order time and time again, to the point of making me feel embarrassed. It has never happened to me anything like it before. The young man tried to excused himself saying that it wasn't my accent, that it had been a long day (it was 11am). When eventually the food came, it was the saddest thing I have ever been served in a café - a slice of bread (brown, thank goodness) with a mushy avocado on top, again no dressing and this time, no garnish and no egg. Due to the previous embarrasment, I decided not to complain anymore, my friend and I laughed and promised not to come back again on future occasions. When I arrived home, I told my partner what had happened  and he said that I should have complained, that it was not right that I was charged full price when my food was so below par and it was actually missing ingredients. I thought about going back on the following day to personally talk to the manager. Then I read the review when the owner said to a customer to go to McDonald's when the customer complained about the service (?), and I thought that I had already been sufficiently embarrassed in this establishment. Therefore, I wasn't going to risk to be told to go to McDonald's (or somewhere else). Not sure if McDonald's will be my choice next time, but it definitely won't be Bonhomie.

Lovely Turkish restaurant, this is our favourite one so far!! Food is amazing, service is really good!! I ordered grilled mushrooms and the salmon fillet. My boyfriend ordered crispy battered prawns and chicken shish. He loved it!! I tried a bit of his chicken, tastes so good!!!!! Rice is soft, the salad is flavoursome and the salmon is beautiful!! We are 100% coming back here!!

Lovely family run restaurant I say that as it feels like it. Staff friendly and efficient in their service. Must pre book as space is small. But didn't feel cramped in. A good selection of choices for a restaurant of their size

The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. The food came out in good time and very well presented. The taste from my chicken wrap was incredible, and the chicken was soft & moist. I would absolutely recommend this place and would certainly be coming back again.

Long wait, Multiple mistakes with the starters and mains, Average food

We recently organised a Christmas lunch celebration. Excellent food and brilliant staff.

I have been a loyal and regular customer of this establishment since they opened. However, of late I have been very disappointed in the service that I have received. I ordered a delivery and after 40 minutes waiting and no sign of my food I contacted the shop and they informed me that is out on delivery, after another 10-15 minutes I rung them again as my food still hadn’t arrived and again was told it was on its way. After further time passing and still no food arriving I again rung them as was again told that my food is on its way and that the driver was in Epping on a delivery as he had a number of deliveries to make and that he has got my order and it will be delivered ASAP, as to this, my food had been sent out for delivery approximately an hour ago with other orders and the driver was delivering around Epping and surrounding areas as informed, as to this I informed them that I will not accept my food as it will obviously be cold and I asked the shop to re-cook my order fresh. Finally and after waiting 2 hours my food was delivered, when opening my food there was half my food order missing so again having to ring the shop and tell them, no apology but was told that they will sent out the missing food, this they done and finally I was able to eat. The following week I ordered again and after waiting again for a long time for my delivery I had to ring the shop yet again, first of all I was told that the order hadn’t been sent out yet so I told them to cancel my order, in the same conversation after the person speaking to whomever was in charge I was told that my order had been sent out and was on its way, after about 20 minutes my delivery arrived. Guess what! When opening my food I was again missing half my order, yes rung the shop again and they had to send out the missing items again. As to the above, being a loyal and regular customer and being treated this way it is clear that they do not care about their customers,, they didn’t even offer me a refund or free/discounted meal so I will not be using them again and will use another.

Group of us went for our camera club 's awards dinner. They coped very well with 28 of us! Nice food and atmosphere too👍

Average Turkish cuisine, there are others that do it better. Feels a bit like a cafe rather than a restaurant. Service average, food okay.

Awful is my only words service is awful they are so rude . The sandwiches tasted like they had been sprayed in cleaning spray and wiped in it . The gingerbread is really hard l. The bread is stale and hard .
