Had a lovely afternoon here. The great barmaid whom I didn’t catch her name was very friendly and warm and poured a great pint. Excellent beer here. She also lent me a phone charger and I am very grateful. Great beer, great service and lovely locals and atmosphere. Great pub

This is a lovely restaurant to visit and was very handy for us as we were staying at the Holiday inn. Food was reasonably priced and portions were big. We ate two nights that we stayed and were not disappointed. Lovely food, good atmosphere and staff were great. This is a must if in the area. Usually in places like this with hotels nearby you are stuck with the usual chain restaurants - Brewers fayre etc… so we were pleasantly surprised!!

Bueno, definitivamente volveremos.

We have been to Zizzi’s from Plymouth to Glasgow, the food is consistently great. The restaurants have a similar atmosphere and prices are usually the same. The service on this occasion was of a lower standard than usual set in the Zizzi’s chain. The mannerism’s of the waiting staff came across as rude and abrupt. Further to this we did not recieve our food at the same time. IMPORTANTLY - the staff did take the food which arrived late off the bill. We are huge Zizzi’s eaters so will be back, just slightly disappointed with this visit.

The service is terrible! When we arrived, we waited in a queue to be seated as they needed to see if there were enough tables available, even though half of the restaurant was empty. We were placed at an extremely small table in a tight space between two large families, despite the fact that every table was available on the other side of the restaurant. There was minimal room between us and the other families, which meant we kept accidentally nudging each other and we kept accidentally sitting and stepping on each other's coats and bags as we were struggling to move. There were plenty of unoccupied tables so it was quite strange that we needed to wait to get a seat and ended up in an extremely cramped space. I don’t know why they weren't seating anyone on the other side of the restaurant but it was probably because the staff didn’t want to serve more people and didn’t want to clean more tables! The service after we were given a table was also terrible. We were handed the menu and quickly decided what we wanted to order. However, we waited for over 40 minutes without anyone coming to take our drink or food orders. We had attempted to find a server, but there was no one available around our table. Since we were short on time, we ultimately had to leave without eating or even getting a drink. As we were leaving, the man at the door asked if we had enjoyed our meal, and we explained that we had been waiting for over 40 minutes and hadn't even had our drink orders taken. He apologized, but it didn't look like he acknowledged what we said. I would definitely not recommend anyone to visit unless you have around 4 hours to waste.

Sunday lunch. Food was nice (other than the very under cooked cauliflower which was commented on by two of our party). The 1 star is for after the meal, this establishment was an all you can eat carvery. We were not informed they have changed their policy to a carvery and not an all you can eat carvery as it was previously. Do not get caught out, they do not tell you they have changed their policy, until you go to pay your bill. They then hit you for the price of 2 full carvery’s for 2 pieces of meat and a few roast potatoes with gravy on 1 plate and 2 bits of beef on another plate. When challenged about not informing customers of the changes (we have visited a number of times) the bill payer was sniggered at by the male server (not needed or wanted) and informed they changed their policy last year (this is the 3rd Sunday in this year so tell people). Another server at the same time is holding up his hand with 5 fingers splayed apart in the air shouting they’ve had 5 dinners in a busy restaurant (no we did not have 5 dinners, outrageous customer service). We put food on our plate then eat and get more if required and allowed and don’t over fill our plates for waste. (none of us are over weight by the way). The group mix was late 20s early 30s mid 50’s and birthday boy with the 2 extra slices of beef is 81 and slim. The bill was paid in full (with the 2 extra full price carvery plates charged for) as it was a very embarrassing situation although the bill payer informed them if they insisted on adding the extra’s, we as a group would never return the bill payer received no reply just a continued snigger. My recommendation to sambuca’s metro is to go to sambuca’s on North Shields fish Quay or West Allotment and learn the correct way to conduct customer service from them. We will never return here, nice food or not. Buyer beware.
