Booked an early dinner which meant the restaurant was fairly quiet. The staff were all lovely and made sure our experience was top-notch. The food was superb (first time I've had a Chinese starter followed by an Indian main). Every dish was perfectly spiced with tender meat and the sides were fabulous. Massive car park, interesting decor. A really good night.

Ate a lunch here and due to the fact it was January just after Christmas and horrible weather it was understandably very quiet. However, we had a nice cosy table in the bar area and the service and food was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and will very happily be back for more.

We returned to The Trout for Christmas lunch this year after a lovely meal there on Christmas day last year. Unfortunately we both felt disappointed this time. We were squashed into a corner for starters. Last year the dining room had literally half the number of tables in. This time it felt claustrophobic and hot. To be fair, Hannah the manager did ask if we were OK, but by this time we had our starters and didn't really feel able to start moving around, plus there was really nowhere else for us to be seated. The food was really disappointing. The roast potatoes were still white and hard, they must have been in the oven for such a short time. The service was slow, mistakes were made on our bill and the whole experience wasn't really very special. You pay an extortionate amount of money for Christmas day lunch, and this really didn't feel as though we got anything near what we paid for. We wouldn't go back next year. It's a real shame.

Very disappointed that under aged kids are allowed to drink in the pub. I had to pick my son up drunk, he is 16. To tell my older son who collected him, he doesn’t notice when it’s busy, it’s your job and your staff to not allow them in and serve them.

Had a Sunday lunch for 2, my wife had previously been and rated this village pub part of the Greene King group. In a way the pub is traditional with a bar, restaurant layout but with a COVID canopy with booth style tables. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The draught beer on offer was a Greene King summer brew and a guest ale from Hardy & Hansons, Old Trip. Very reasonably priced at £4.80. We both had a roast, I had beef and my wife pork. My beef was plentiful but a little chewy but wife’s pork was good. The roast potatoes were very good and the vegetables were plentiful if a little soggy. There was a good sweet selection I had the apple pie with custard which was alright. I don’t know why there haven’t been any recent reviews but based on this visit I won’t be rushing back, sorry.
