The best restaurants in Frant/Withyham Wealden South East

Popped in for an early evening pint just over two weeks ago, whilst staying nearby. Nice looking pub, real fire, friendly locals and staff. My wife and I enjoyed a well kept pint of Harveys Old Ale each. The following lunchtime I returned for lunch with my inlaws. I had the halloumi burger, which was very nice indeed. Well presented, good salad and perfect chips: crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Ale was a little on the cold side on this visit but still drinkable. I'd definitely return.

Charming traditional pub with delicious food and friendly service. My husband and I visited The Boar’s Head for a mid-week dinner. All our food was excellent. The sticky toffee pudding one of the best I’ve tasted. Highly recommend!

A fantastic Sunday lunch. We had starters & main and a carafe of wine. Everything was delicious. The chef is exceptional. The staff are all super friendly. Today Izzie was our server and she was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. Large area near the bar to have drinks if you want. The restaurant has a great vibe and was full of family groups, friend groups and couples. Fast becoming our fave Sunday lunch spot

Lovely food in a very pleasant atmosphere served by friendly, attentive team of Natalie and Amber. Highly recommend. The Camembert was delicious, and the fish cooked to perfection.

My first visit to Jade’s Palace and it lived up to the reputation on Trip Advisor. Warm welcome and service was friendly and swift. Food quality was outstanding and every dish was top drawer!! Recommended and will be back very soon.

A spontaneous visit as we were in the area, but I’m glad we stumbled upon this cafe, a lovely place, friendly staff and a fab breakfast. I had the garden breakfast which was delicious, friends had the full english which they enjoyed. If you are in the area it is very much recommended. Dog friendly too. Great for walkers.

We visited this earlier in the year and had a great meal and service , so decided to book for 6 of us for the Christmas menu. We were certainly not disappointed. The pub was wonderfully decorated for Christmas , with a huge advent calendar and kits of twinkly lights and decorations. We had the three course menu which was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. The veg option was also excellent. Very reasonably priced too. The lovely young girl who served us was very helpful too. We would def recommend you trying it if you can and we will be back. Compliments to the chef. 10/10.

Dissapointing, I booked a table for four people to have the festive menu, the starters were lovely no problem there, anyhow when our turkey meals were brought out, we were given just a dish of Brussels sprouts as our vegetables, if I hadn’t asked for more veg I think they thought we wouldn’t bother, I did ask for more veg and was told they would take a few minutes to come out, after about 10 mins after we had eaten part of our meal they turned up, sorry but not good enough

Really great pub serving great food with a great team headed by Dom. The pub has a number of small intimate bar / resturant areas. Nice atmosphere with open fires (at the moment). Children’s menu available and dog “treats” behind the bar.

What a wonderful local pub. The hospitality is superb and the food is quality fare. We booked for Christmas Dinner and it was excellent. The landlady is lovely as well as all her staff. Always helpful, always accommodating and does her best to ensure you have a lovely visit. Thoroughly recommended.

We booked a table for Thursday Pizza night yesterday evening which according to the barman, was any pizza or burger for £10, which is a good deal and indeed, the pizza's were very nice and cooked to order, great. However, paying the bill was a bit of a shock. A pint of Moretti beer was £6 but worst of all, a small glass of white wine was £9.50 and with a dash of soda water brought it up to £9.90!! This, in my view, is a total rip off. The automatic service charge of 12.5% which they added brought the total bill for just two pizzas and two drinks to over £40!! There are ways of increasing your customer base and encouraging new customers but in my view this isn't one of them. A pizza/burger night for just £10 each is great but to then serve rip off priced drinks and automatically add, not just 10% service charge which is acceptable though I think should always be discretionary, but 12.5% automatically, is not the way to increase your customer base. Would I recommend this pub to anybody, NO, I wouldn't.
