The best restaurants in Bickleigh and Shaugh South Hams South West

I have never ever given the three W rating before on a review. This stands for: Walking in. Walk round. Walk out. My wife and I were given room 12 the room had a good view of the moors but that was it. The furniture was dated, the bed sloped towards the wall, and the shower had black mould on the shower tray. The whole hotel was shabby not only on the outside but also on the inside, the carpets are one step away from being thread bare, it does really needs revamping all over. If you read the reviews on this hotel they seem to recommend it and say what value for money it is, I honestly believe that this is not true the people who wrote the reviews must have stayed in some rubbish hotels prior to staying here. I would not recommend this hotel.

Really enjoyed this place, for the first (first of many) time today! Ideal setting, on the edge of Dartmoor. Perfect for cyclists, walkers, workers, but especially families, who love food and animals. I’m a big lad with a large appetite, so I had the Cob breakfast with hash browns and a side of chips (for the table 😆), all very nicely cooked. Just about managed my fair share, but upset I forgot to leave room for the desserts, which looked amazing 🧁 🍰 Will be back soon 😁

Beautifully situated on the waterfront, opposite Queen Anne's Battery Marina. Wonderful panoramic views in all directions and a hot spot if you catch the sun right. Outside decor and furniture's not all that and could do with an update but the food, wine and service is divine. I only had a starter and was pleasantly surprised - king prawns I chorizo and garlic cream based sauce, served with garlic buttered Ciabataa on the side, & a wedge of lemon. I also had a glass of Pinot Noir Della Venezie, sharp, crisp and delisch with the food.

Expensive coffee that isn't great and cake that isn't much to write about. £16 for 2 latte and 2 carrot cake and a sml pot of pringles seems extortionate. Not impressed. Was busy as event on but no great hospitality. Just a number given and screamed out to collect paper cup lidded coffee. £16 wasted imo

A friend and I came across this pub after coming off the trails. We arrived an hour before opening and chatted to the staff about booking a table. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was too much for these people. The bar staff are polite and friendly and the food was fantastic. Lovely country pub atmosphere and a blazing fire place to boot. Enjoyed it so much we’ve already been back. Definitely worth a regular visit.

Best meat dhansak I have had in a very long time

Amazing Christmas dinner. Food was excellent quality and superbly cooked. Probably the best I've had. Staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Very nice breakfast. The bridge is allegedly the one in the Simon and Garfunkel song. Nice view with comfortable bed. Jo and Sally were excellent and efficient

Great service, very clean premises food always coo Deeked fresh, and for me personally they have a great gluten free menu anybody that's a celiac I fully recommend woolwell fish bar best takeaway menu Iv seen in 32 years of being a celiac .

I have eaten at the diner many times over recent years and always enjoyed my visits! However yesterday 29 Nov 2024 was a huge disappointment!. I have discovered that the business is under new management which appears to have changed many things and in my opinion not for the better! The lack of busy tables was an indication that many regulars are giving it a miss! I too will not be returning for some time. A very disappointed customer!

3 hours wait for a dry warm pizza why take the order if you can’t fulfill it, rang 3 times to be told it’s on its way very disappointed

Unfortunately I ordered 6 large pizza and picked up. How ever when got home the amount of toppings on the pizzas might of suited a small pizza better as hardly anything on them. This was on all 6 of the pizzas. Will not be doing again was a waste of money.
