We had our Bowls Club Christmas Dinner on Friday night and Julia and her team went above and beyond to make our evening special. The food was truly excellent. Well done everyone!

Andrea and Paul are delightful people. We visited for Afternoon Tea. Celebrating my husband's 18 th Birthday. He is a leap year. The food was lovely . Sandwiches, cookies, scones jam and cream, and fairy cakes decorated with littles 18 decorated triangles. Well Worth a visit.

Delightful Sunday lunch - all piping hot and delicious - despite us being a tableful with a mix of carnivore, vegan and vegi! The star of the show was the superb vegan choc tart - with vegan ice cream - best dessert ever - and I’m not even vegan!!!

We walked through the village into this cosy, charming pub. We'd phoned an hour earlier, and could only get a table for 6pm as it was fully booked on a Tuesday evening. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a good table, so could look out at the pub and it's characterful decor. The pies were superb. I had chicken and mushroom. The icecream dessert was excellent.

What a great tradditional Inn. 800yrs of history and character. Superb location, albeit down a few country lanes. All bedrooms with ensuite. Spacious and comfy. Fully loaded pub with snooker room, and darts room, bar and lounge and quiet reading snug type lounge. Large dinning room with breakfast bar. Large beer garden. Fully operational commercial kitchen. Stock your own bar and music player that feeds music to all areas. We had 20 family members in our group and all enjoyed the facilities. Would recommend to others who want a family holiday. We all did our own sightseeing in the daytime and came home to the pub to eat as a family and enjoy pub type nightime, with games, music, chat and a drink. Awesome!! Lastly, great and friendly host, always on hand if needed, but allowed you to enjoy the facilities. Superb !!

Having attempted to find a Pub to eat with little success and a friend suggested we try the Monks Retreat, Broadhempston, Nr ToTnes. We booked a Sunday Lunch for 6, I have to admit I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the meal as much as we did. We all had a roast, including 2 Beef 2 Pork a Lamb and a Nut roast, not traditional cut you might expect, but don’t let that put you off, the food was excellent, ample meat and vegetables proportions to the point we couldn’t manage a sweet and trust me that’s unusual for my family. Eating in pleasant surroundings with good service, we enjoyed it so much my wife and I booked it again and we will again. Thank you Monks Retreat.

Seven of us visited the Union today for a Christmas get together. We had been recommended but It far exceeded our expectations. The table was set for us , we had ordered in advance and we were in a room on our own. The starters were all very good and the main courses were hot and tasty. five of us had roast turkey And all agreed it was one of the best roast dinners they’d had. There were lots of vegetables and Everything was hot. Desserts were nicely presented and we finished with tea/coffee and a mince pie. Altogether a very enjoyable meal, we would all recommend.

Lovely food, classic pub grub but done well and reasonably priced. Liver was excellently cooked, slightly pink and soft and packed full of flavour. Service was good, we were checked back on, meals came promptly and cleared when finished. Nice cold wine and kids meals substantial for the price! Only marked down one star as bar is always busy (not a bad thing), but just makes it sometimes awkward leaning over drinkers to order food. However, always highly recommended for both food and drinks.
