The best restaurants in Kirkby Malzeard Harrogate Yorkshire and The Humber

This would have been a 5 star review if I was reviewing the food only. The food was top notch. The negatives were: One of the staff who served us was miserable and quite unpleasant in her manner. The second negative was unforgivable! They do not serve tea in a pot! It comes in a cup with a tea bag floating in it attached to a piece of string. Thats the sort of thing you get in 'cafes' or roadside caravans or take aways from the local chippy - not a place like the Staveley Arms. I asked for a pot of tea and that is what was brought to me, the lady told me 'oh we don't serve tea in pots' and plonked it down. I refused it. Later I asked for a latte which was cold! Diners like to drink tea at their leisure and not having to drink it quickly to prevent it getting cold or from a saucer that is dripping tea from the tea bag! You really need to rethink how you serve tea!

Really lovely place, very relaxed atmosphere. We bought pumpkins and carved them there then went for a little walk round the woodland trail. Nice little cafe - the pumpkin pie was a big hit - and the shop sells lots of nice little gifts etc. The plants in the garden centre looked great, although we didn’t buy any so can’t really comment further. Would definitely go back again - it’s a great community resource too.

Whenever we have passed here it has not been opening time so we deliberately called when it was open. These are the best fish and chips we have had in a long time. Just how they should be. Highly recommended. We will be back.

Lovely food, good friendly service. Never had a bad meal and have visited many times over the years.

We stayed overnight after a wedding at Grantley Hall (5 minutes away) and everything was perfect. Beautiful, modern and clean room, friendly hosts and lovely breakfast. We highly recommend as a perfect stopover for Grantley or when travelling.

Came for Sunday lunch and had turkey! So well presented and very tasty! This is a great village pub and the team take great care in the presentation, attitude and overall cleanliness of the pub. No grumpy landlord here!

Made to feel very welcome after we stumbled upon the place. Food was exquisite did everything they could to cater for me as I only wanted soup and some vegetables. Hubby had a pie and it looked delicious he absolutely cleared his plate. I had potato and leek soup which I can tell you would be worth the 80 mile trip from home to have again.

Amazing ice cream. Always plenty of staff working and all very nice and pleasant. Place is very clean and tidy. Plenty of inside and outside seating. Also nice big car park. Ice cream portions are very generous ( no tiny scoops here brymor!! ) and good choice of flavours which changes regularly. Dad and I stopped for lunch today. They only have sandwiches and toastie, sausage rolls and cakes We had toasties and they were the best toasties we have had. Loaded with ham and cheese and mine with cheese and onion. Nicely presented with a lovely fresh side salad and coleslaw. 2 toastie and 2 hot drinks for under £20.00. The hot chocolate was nice and hot and not too sweet. I highly recommend going here for an ice cream or a toastie.

This was a birthday present and the whole experience was exquisite from food to the staff. A shout out for Kayleigh who was exceptional and explained everything in full detail and always made sure we were happy with a lovely smile. An experience not to be missed.

I purchased my parents a voucher for Christmas 2023 and they chose to use it this evening for my Dad's Birthday. Just wanted to say thank you for giving them a wonderful experience and also share my parents enjoyment, they reported having a wonderful time... It's safe to say I've set my gift giving bar too high 😆.

Luckily booked a table. The place was packed, 6 pm on a Saturday. Lovely atmosphere. Order half adult pizza & chips for 7 year grand daughter which she said was best ever. All our meals were delicious and staff couldnt do enough to make us welcome

What a gem of a find. Wonderful atmosphere. The warmest of welcomes for myself, my friend and most importantly my dog. We had coffee and bar snacks. Plentiful and good value as well as amazingly tasty. There was nothing to fault here and if im ever in the area again I will head straight back. Thank you.

We went to the Inn last night for dinner. There were six of us. The meal was fantastic, a wide selection to choose from, including some specials. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and can’t recommend the Inn enough! Thank you so much for such an enjoyable evening.

Lovely place to wander around. Reception and bar staff very attentive. Sadly our meal was very ordinary. Entree and dessert were quite good. Steak was awful - not cooked as requested (got medium and medium rare rather than rare) and it was great and unappetising. Our waiter irritatingly kept visiting our table to see how we were going.
