We’ve had a wonderful visit to Firethorn Cottage today for afternoon tea, as a large family group for Mother’s Day. What a little gem of a place. We were very well looked after, with the children catered for wonderfully as well. The savoury and sweet delights were mouthwatering and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks so much :)

Love it here, whether its just for a coffee or something more, delicious sandwiches, and mouthwatering cakes, theyre to die for!! Also a good take away service and very good efficient staff, they made me feel really welcome as was feeling poorly and in need of some comfort and a good hot tasty soup, to warm me up. Dog friendly and cosy will definitely be a regular customer here for life as I love the chilled out atmosphere.

Rude staff. Visited here whilst staying at the park. Dress code states smart/casual and we wore smart clothes (trousers) and smart trainers, however the staff looked down at us as soon as we arrived, presumably as a young couple they thought we didn’t fit in. If they thought that that we were not dressed appropriately they should have turned us away, not treated us like unworthy of being there! But obviously they wanted our money. We were made to feel uncomfortable and were treated different to others in the restaurant, no one offered to take our coats even though other diners did, no one checked that we were ok during the meal, they didn’t ask at the end if everything was ok!… unacceptable treatment from staff. They should remember that our money is as good as any other diner. The food was nice but overpriced for what it was. Would never return.

On arrival it was clear that it was very busy as expected. We were seated at our table by a gentleman with a wave in the general area of our table so bad start but we understood it was very busy and sat awaiting a member of staff to get a drink order but that never came. Then our starters appeared out of nowhere we hadn't even asked for them, so we asked about drinks they said to order at the bar. The qué was quite long at this point so we wish we had been given information at the point of being seated as we understood this would all be table service. But we sat and had our starters. Then awaiting our main after fifteen mins we enquired about how long mains would be to be told it was self service carvery. We were shocked as our starter had been table service and this is what we expected for £250+ But we waited for the qué to go down and got that The meal was lovely and the staff smiley. The ladies doing the tables were absolutely fantastic especially Jacqueline and Lisa. Once the majority of people had eaten and gone the place calmed down but during this tough time nothing was to much for either of these ladies even with being in such high demand. I even saw Lisa walking with a gentleman unsure on his feet to dish his food for him. A lovely sight to see and Jacqueline kept popping over to our table to check all was okay after our confusion and even helped with getting our desert to take away as we were all stuffed x

Lovely meal here today. They were very accommodating and helpful for my nans 98th birthday. We had a lovely separate room for the family, ordered from a set menu, I had the Pate which was delicious (sorry I ate some before I took the picture) but it was great. Generous piece of pate and a garlic butter. Could have done with a bit more toast to have it all with. We also had the roast which was delicious. Good range and quality of meat and veg plus the trimmings. Some of us had the burger which looked amazing and family said was delicious. Drinks available from the bar, plenty of parking, nice toilets that look very well kept original features too. Lovely grand entrance and reception area, helpful waitresses, even brought in the birthday cake and lit it for us etc. I also had the creme brulle which was very tasty, and good prices. Would definitely visit again.

Meal was very basic for what they served for you , starter was very simple . Carvery was cook well which is the only best thing about your dinner , if you break down each your meal , you can’t justify £20 per starter , main , dessert , only a free tea or coffee , very disappointing will not be booking again in a hurry Also not been out for a Christmas meal in quite a few years , was really looking forward to celebrating my Christmas Day dinner with my partner. Was really disappointed from the moment we walked to our table , was not decorated with even a basic paper table cloth, just crackers , even the music was very low so so could not hear it , even though i understood that some customers want to hear each other talking , can’t fault the staff very polite and did look after you . Not explained very well about each course , and we did not get even asked if would like a choice to take dessert home.
