We had such a great experience on a saturday afternoon here. The tearoom was so charming and cosy. Even though the menu was traditional, it was so so delicious, especially the savoury sandwiches!!! the chicken sandwich was amazing! We left so full that we couldn't eat dinner, and also took away our leftover scones which still tasted great the next day. We will remember this tea for a long time!

I love the concept of afternoon tea, it's a great time for a snack so you're not famished at dinner. We reserved a time at the Milestone because we would be in the area. My husband and I had spent the day wandering around the V&A museum and a few hours at Hyde Park just walking around. First off, I LOVE the decor and the atmosphere. I'm a sucker for older architecture and it's displayed prominently yet lovingly well kept. The other thing, they did not have a strict dress code, but they did discourage sportswear and untailored shorts (jorts I guess?). The food was delicious, adorably presented yet a lot. We were stuffed by the end and couldn't finish it. My favorites were the scones, they were perfectly warm, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Both my husband and I were quite happy and we are looking forward to returning next year.

Wonderful place for afternoon tea. While the concept of afternoon tea isn't child friendly, and I'd generally not encourage taking kids so that you can fully enjoy the experience, the staff were incredibly kind and patient with our little ones. The tea selection was great, the food delicious, and the service exceptional.

Best afternoon tea I have ever had with fantastic food and service and lovely atmosphere/setting. Grant, Leo and dorina gave superb, very friendly service, whilst it was in a very historic and up mark building we were very welcomed and made at home. This Afternoon Tea had an incredible variety of sandwiches and pastries. They have an extensive selection of loose-leaf teas, which originate from Sri Lanka! 🫖 I absolutely loved the Mrs T's chicken mayonnaise finger sandwich & the Roasted Field Mushroom was so delicious too! My husband and I tried afternoon tea at three different places while in London and the Milestone Hotel was, hands down, our absolute favorite. Our first impression of the hotel was that it was very clean and very beautiful. The doorman was extremely polite and even helped open the door to our taxi when we pulled up which was a wonderful welcome I wasn't expecting upon arrival when the staff didn't even know we were there to visit the establishment yet. The service continued from there with the doors being opened for us and a very pleasant greeting by the host who immediately led us to a quaint little table in the corner that we absolutely loved as it gave us the perfect vantage to see the room and really admire the decor. Our server was very prompt in making sure our order was taken and asked us if we had a preferred order for certain items to be served. Because of this, everything came out exactly when we wanted it which made for a perfect flow of one item to the next. The sandwiches were a really nice variety, as were the desserts. I'm usually a very picky eater, but I enjoyed almost everything that was brought out, especially the cheesecake which I find myself thinking about often and wishing I could have it again, it was that good! (Honestly, everything was so good, we actually DID have it again by booking to return another day of our trip and we enjoyed the second time just as much as the first!) The selection of tea was fantastic and the scones were absolutely delicious. During the tea service, we found the attentiveness of the staff to be the perfect combination of available but not constantly at our tableside. We appreciated this because it meant that we were never without what we needed but we always had the peace to enjoy our conversation without constant interruption which made for a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. Truth be told, afternoon tea at the Milestone Hotel turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip and, for this reason, we absolutely intend to book for tea here again when next we find ourselves in London.

I am very late in writing this review but I will write it anyway. Me and a couple of friends visited The Milestone in December 2022 as a pre-Christmas treat. We were greeted by Yulia. She wasn't really happy to see us there and we know why. She is not used to people that do not look like her. Orders were taken and she brings us sandwiches that were dry and probably left hanging around. The tea was ok but I've been to other places with better service where they treat people as equals. The other people serving went out of their way to make us feel comfortable but if it wasn't for Yulia, we would have felt better about the experience. I'm sorry, but never again. I'm paying the same monet as everyone else and we deserve to be treated the same. The host is a poor one. This is London and you're going to meet people from all nationalities and walks of life, so why the attitude. It was so pointless.

We had a lovely afternoon tea at the Milestone, with a special Princess tea for our six year old. The eyes she made when her cake tray arrived at the table! Tea was great, we had beautiful champagne and the little one was offered delicious hot chocolate. All the cakes were lovely. If anything, I would have wished that we didn't have to wait so long for the hot scones - it would have been better to start with these delicacies, not eat them after all the cakes. And the sandwiches looked beautiful but would have benefited from better seasoning (especially the spectacular looking chicken sandwich was bland). Lovely staff and a friendly atmosphere - not at all snobbish, and nobody seemed to care very much about the dress code. The hotel itself looked so beautiful, we will stay here next time we're in London!

The Milestone Hotel is a luxurious five-star hotel located in the heart of Kensington, and their Afternoon Tea is a must-try for anyone looking for a quintessentially British experience. The hotel's elegant and sophisticated atmosphere, combined with its impeccable service, made for an unforgettable experience. As I was seated at my table, I was presented with an extensive tea menu, featuring a wide selection of teas from around the world. I decided to go for the traditional English Breakfast tea to accompany my food. The food arrived shortly after presented beautifully on a tiered stand. The bottom tier featured a variety of sandwiches, including cucumber & cream cheese, smoked salmon & dill, egg mayonnaise & cress and their signature (my fav) chicken mayonnaise and toasted almonds. Each sandwich was freshly made and tasted delicious. On the top tier was an array of sweet treats, including a selection of cakes and pastries. My favourites were the hazelnut creme choux pastry and the toffee apple tart, both of which were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Finally, I was presented with warm, freshly baked scones, served with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam. The scones were perfectly baked, with a crispy exterior and a soft and fluffy interior. Throughout my meal, the service was exceptional. The staff were attentive, polite and knowledgeable, and made me feel very welcome. Overall, the Afternoon Tea at Milestone Hotel was a truly wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the tea was perfect, and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Halal British Afternoon Tea experience. Big thank you to Dorina for her excellent service throughout our experience.

Came here for the first time to celebrate my wife's birthday with our 11-month-old and it was a wonderful experience. The afternoon tea room was nicely decorated, like an old library and it was well looked after, nice and clean. The wait staff were kind and patient and looked after us throughout. They answered any of our questions regarding the teas and the menu (we had the Vegan one) and they even answered historical questions about the hotel itself! The food came out promptly and so did each refill of sandwiches and tea. The food itself (vegan menu) was delicious. 5 different types of sandwiches which I wouldn't have ever thought of (except vegan cheddar and tomato which is pretty normal) and the cakes were amazing too, I think 5 different types. The only issue is that they waited for after the cakes and sandwiches to bring out the scones which are my favourite, but by the time they came out, we were pretty full and couldn't have any! They had a high chair for the baby and she just had little bits of our sandwiches and she enjoyed herself. They have colouring books and crayons which she's too young for, but a nice touch. They don't have baby-changing facilities which is weird, but they put me up in a large bathroom in the spa where I made do. After our meal was done, we asked if we can walk around the hotel just to sightsee, and they got the hotel manager to give us a tour of the master suite and the spa which was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend it and come again.

My fiancé and I booked a champagne afternoon tea service for four at the Milestone Hotel. This was to celebrate his parents golden wedding anniversary, a special occasion. A couple of weeks later I called to check I had booked three gluten free tea services and a regular. I was glad I called, because as it turned out... there was no trace of a reservation ever having been made for us. I made a new one and asked for confirmation to sent to my email box. The confirmation arrived and I thought that would be the end of it. a week later I received a phone call from a female staff at the hotel, confirming my booking. Then yet another confirmation arriving with a different time than it was initially made for. A few days later yet another confirmation arrived with the initial time, by now we were kind of confused. On the day, we arrived and immediately I could sense at the reception, that the warm welcoming greeting had changed, you see, before the pandemic, I would visit the Milestone regularly for afternoon tea and dinner. The staff seem different. We weren’t introduced to our waiter/ waiter as used to be the case, as we were shown to our table, we quickly became aware the fireplace wasn’t on, on what was a bitterly cold and windy day. At the same time we were told/ reminded we had to finish by and be gone, by quarter to five, having arrived at three, which we already knew as explained to us during the initial phone conversation, not a nice thing to do in a five star hotel, as we felt they wanted us out of there quickly. The waitress had a marked accent which made it difficult to understand her keeping in mind she was wearing a mask, after letting her know of it, she then kept looking at me with a strange smirk or contemptuous smile, which made me feel rather uncomfortable. When I asked for the fireplace to be turned on, she simply said “ we can’t, due to a technical problem” and quickly left. My mother in law and I were freezing and the point of having requested the sofas by the fire place was to add to the atmosphere of the place and the occasion. 30 minutes into the tea service, my phone rung and I was surprised as I made sure none was to bother me that afternoon, it turned out to be the receptionist questioning where I was! I then said we were half way through the service, he then seemed shocked and asked “ are you half way to the hotel? You are expected for a champagne tea service!” I said, Yes, we are half way through the tea service. he didn’t seem to know what I was talking about, I then said...” If you like turn around come into the room and you’ll see us seating by the fire place... I even humorously said “ I am the good looking brunette” to what he replied... and not in a nice way “ sorry Madan it must be a mistake” and hung up on me. Then, As we were paying and stood to put on our coats, the staff started to clean our table, which is never pleasant and rude... specially in a five star hotel. No, my fiancé and I were not impressed and were left rather flattened, not to mention not keen on visiting any time soon. Perhaps they are having difficulty getting the right staff due to the current situation, but it was definitely a poor shadow of the warm and exclusive service of pre pandemic years.

We came in as a group of 6 (family + in-laws) for the afternoon tea. I must admit we started with extremely high expectation that came from a previous attendance in 2019. This time we felt a lot less cared for than in our last visit. It’s probably got to do with the challenges your industry has to train and retain quality staff during the last 18 months. However, it doesn’t change the price we had to pay for this experience. We found the welcoming not quite as warm, the service not quite as attentive and worst of it all, the scones were not warm! We asked for glasses of water but they weren’t brought to us. Overall it was still a positive experience, but I wouldn’t be prepared to pay the same price again for this level of service. The rest of the food was excellent. I would warmly recommend if budget isn’t an issue. For us it means making a sacrifice to get a very special experience and I find this time around it wasn’t worth it.

Being local residents, we have visited the Milestone several times over the past 10 years mainly for afternoon tea. It was always a special and pleasant experience, however when we recently returned to the hotel after a four-year absence, the experience didn’t feel quite the same. We booked for afternoon tea in advance and were disappointed to be told when we arrived that a 30-minute wait is necessary for the kitchen to bake scones... My partner only ordered scones and tea, so she had a long wait whilst I ate the sandwiches and some of the cake offerings with my afternoon tea. The sandwiches were fine; however, the cake selection was very disappointing both in terms of presentation and flavours. (What's wrong with serving tradional afternoon tea in a traditional setting?) None of the cakes presented had much appeal to both myself or my partner. The scones when they eventually arrived were fabulous, and a special mention for the Earl Grey tea that was served for my partner… it was the best she has ever had! Overall, we did not notice any change in the hotel since we last visited and if anything, it felt a bit tired. Even the tea set could do with an enhancement… The staff as always are very courteous and pleasant. Despite the points mentioned above we will return!

Welcoming reception in a lovely old building. Fantastic afternoon tea, with fresh everything which kept being replenished. We've had family afternoon teas all over London and this was right up there. Minor beefs; it was hard to pay! Four years ago I wrote it’s the best teatime place in the city, I am afraid cannot say the same thing today! The elegance and impeccable service are always there, but the food quality was very disappointing. The scones were crispy like they were reheated in the microwave, sandwiches which were the best in the world for me, were combined poorly or so heavy like the chicken mayo to become disgusting. Tried few cakes and they were so sweet and heavy I could not have more. Please what have you changed in your kitchen? I hope next time to be able to make a good critic.

My niece and kids from USA, and we wanted to offer them a luxurious High Tea. Millstone was one of the very expensive in Kensington, with good reviews ( More than Harrods) and offering for kids. We waited, and waited and waited for the service to start. My little boy-5 years- was just repeating I am hungry. Tea came first, too light to appreciate, but vanilla milkshake was good. When finally something materialise, the whole trays were full of sandwiches, 2/3 good, other no. Pastries consistent on over sweet macarons, badly done cakes. Kids couldn't eat : too sweet. We ask for more sandwiches, nothing came. Scones were too big and creme too little. One piece of chocolate for three persons, although we ask for more but nothing came. We love having high teas however this time we were Extremely disappointed from the very restricted area we sat in, the low level of pastry-made, and the extremely slow service. If you believe the high price you can still experience yourself. However I won't recommend neither to adults nor to kids.

I visited for high tea with my two young daughters (6 & 5) and cannot speak more highly of the service we experienced. We are visiting from Syd, Aus and I wanted to treat my daughters to one of my favourite traditions in London, high tea. They were treated with respect, made to feel welcome and spoken to with kindness. I have to say I’ve taken my kids a lot of places and this is one of the rare times they have been treated as equals. The high tea servings were very fair and great options available, but the real treat was decorating cupcakes at the end. I highly commend the Milestone Hotel for how they welcome younger guests, make their experience fun and maintain a high level of service. Thank you for the warm welcome, I look forward to returning the next time we’re in London.

That made me feel in-welcomed, especially since the email reservation stated the time from 3-5. I don’t know why he thought we would be camping out. He did not ask anyone else in the room. I couldn’t tell if it was because my race or nationality. There was one other American woman in the room, and he seemed much more friendly towards her. I was uncomfortable with the whole afternoon tea because it was the first time we had done something like that. And he did not do anything to put me at ease. I know it’s a little touristy of me, but I didn’t feel comfortable asking him to take our picture. I felt embarrassed. Unfortunately, I did not get his name. But David saved the day. I am not sure if he was the head waiter, but he worked the entire room. He spoke Portuguese with the Portuguese family and even was great with the family that spoke no English. He immediately put me at ease and graciously took our photos. He also came back to check on us multiple times. He even offered to box up the leftovers. He definitely saved the day and made me feel a little better after the first waiter.

A friend and I had a lovely tea on Sunday. My friend is in a wheelchair and the hotel staff were very caring about getting ramps and others things ready (not easy in a hotel with such character) so that it was all without a fuss and we were able to enjoy our afternoon tea. Many thanks!

Absolutely the BEST place for a traditional afternoon tea service! As you sit in their traditional and beautiful tea room, you'll enjoy a variety of teas, cakes, finger sandwiches, scones, fresh strawberries with clotted cream, and if you choose as I did, champagne! The atmosphere is elegant and their staff is friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!

My mom and I went to Afternoon Tea at The Milestone to celebrate our birthdays and it was incredible! The staff made us feel so special and brought us a complementary glass of champagne. The food was very good and we ended up taking some home because there was so much! The scones were great the next day:) The Tea Room is beautiful and quaint. The service is extraordinary and everyone was very attentive and willing to help with anything.

We spent the afternoon at the Milestone last Saturday and what a pleasant experience that was . Afternoon tea was served in a lovely little area (although there is a gorgeous conservatory where you can also take the tea if you wish ) , although small , tables were still far enough apart for you to have your own space to enjoy the culinary delights ! The staff could not have been more attentive if they tried , however not to suffocating so the balance of service was perfect !

The Royal Afternoon Tea at the Milestone Hotel was one of the highlights of our trip to London. If I used just one word to describe the experience, the word would be “charming.” The table where my husband and I were seated was in the intimate and cozy Park Lounge next to a window overlooking Kensington Gardens. The service was impeccable and the food and drink were both delicious and abundant. We felt like royalty as we dined here and had an enjoyable, relaxing, and memorable experience. Any future trips to London for us will include afternoon tea at the Milestone.

Nice Location...variety of teas..but the food was not that great..not worth it for the money. Sandwich were dry...and two.plates of patiserie is too much. better the first plate sandwich...then scones and on the top patiserie. the good thing was the scones were freshly made and the kids could go nd decorate their cupcake. was a bit disapointed.

I’ve been a frequent customer of this establishment (Milestone Hotel) and generally have enjoyed my visits there with a a friend, however on the 13th of November 2018, we thought to pop in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake for my birthday. There was no porter at the entrance to open the door for us, and as we entered the property no-one at the lobby to assist us, so as we walked in the next room (the Park Lounge), a staff member (an old gentleman) with a moustache who received us was particularly curt and abrupt, unwelcoming, moody, and we more or less had to argue to get served as we had to explain to him over and over what we were there for. As we sat down and waited for a long time for someone to come, we started to get really upset. No-one offered to take our coats, and no-one came to give us a menu. We were left there waiting, no-one seemed to care about us. Another member of staff tried to help as he could clearly see what happened after because we looked very upset and tried to explain some of the things they offered in the menu but in the end the experience was very upsetting, I didn't feel comfortable at all being in that awful environment, so we decided not to stay and got up and left. We have dined at this hotel several times before as we love the atmosphere it has to offer. On this occasion we had an extremely bad experience with that particular member of staff that has been working there for a very long time. He behaved in such a way as if the hotel belonged to him and that he didn't want us there. His age and long term employment doesn’t allow him to be rude to us and behave in such a manner. Furthermore, I have written a letter of complaint to General Manager Andrew Pike on the 1st of December who failed to reply back to me. On the hotels website it says that he is passionate about delivering exceptional service and generous hospitality but he did not bother to get back to me which makes it clear that he also doesn't care about the type of service they provide their customers with. This type of attitude seems to be epidemic in this hotel. It's the 28th of January and i'm currently still waiting for a reply.. I find the whole experience absolutely shocking and it shows that this hotel, doesn't care about their customers, the service we received was absolutely terrible and disgusting, my birthday got ruined, I left feeling very dissapointed and we shall not be returning back to this establishment, there are far better hotels in London to dine in which provide excellent service and above all, a five star experience. I used to rate this hotel with 5 stars but I have now given it only 1 because this is what it deserves. Pictures attached are from more happier times at this establishment but sadly things have now changed and the management has completely ruined this hotel.

I reviewed the hotel in 2016 when we stayed there and found very little to fault it. We have just treated three Japanese ladies to a traditional afternoon tea during their visit to London - remembering our experience as so good - and although it was a very pleasant afternoon, it could have been better. It was particularly annoying that the whole party was told TWICE, in no uncertain terms, that there was another sitting so the table would be needed at 5pm - this should NEVER be shared with all the guests, just the leader of the party who made the booking. The explanations of the menus were a little bit rushed and quite difficult for foreign visitors to understand. Service was good, but I did not feel the same way as when we were hotel guests, rather than just afternoon customers.

I came back yesterday to the Milestone for the high tea. The room is always beautiful and cosy, but not kept at the usual standard. We noticed that one of the tall lamp next to the fireplace was not working and told by the staff that is broken...a five stars hotel should have everything working to perfection! The order arrived after 20 minutes...and we were the only four customers present. The selection of sandwiches at £52 per head is very poor in quantity and quality. No offer of refill the sandwiches was offered. The only excellent thing was the scones...but there as well just 6 ..at that price..could have been more generous . One of the party ordered the third cocktail which arrived after almost 40 minutes and arrived only because we asked again for it.

Wonderful atmosphere, great food, great service - let down by the fact that I ordered and was charged for a traditional afternoon tea for three, and received enough cakes for two. I expect identical portions for the amount paid, and was not pleased that some food items were skimmed off. I noticed, and I’m sure your staff did too. Is this an established practice to save money? Be wary, and call them out on their misrepresentation if you get anything less than what you expected.

I booked this tea several weeks before our arrival in London, and I am so glad I did! This had to be the highlight of our trip. We had arrived at the hotel early, having finished a tour at Kensington Palace (located across the road) and had been walking around trying to kill time until our 3:00 tea. The door men were so nice when we told them we were there early and just walking around, they invited us to wait in the lobby or bar area and as soon as there was an empty table we were escorted in. I really can't say enough about the experience. We had been to London before but had never done a proper tea. Despite being fully booked, we were never rushed and we sat leisurely for nearly two hours, until the next tea was being served at 5.

What an exceptional surprise to find that a rooftop of this caliber offers free access! Kudos to everyone who made this possible. The process of acquiring the free tickets was seamless, and the entry experience was well-organized, with the right level of security and efficient queue management. Once inside, we were greeted by a stunning and spectacular garden in the clouds—truly a sight to behold. What impressed me even more was the pricing at the bar. You’d expect sky-high prices or to be bombarded with overpriced souvenirs, but that wasn’t the case at all. The bar had accessible, reasonably priced options that made it easy to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views. A must-visit destination in London, and one I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience.

Sadly I took a close business associate to this restaurant on the recommendation of Trip Advisor We had travelled all day from different cities to different hotels to meet at the About Thyme Restaurant it was very closed and so far we have been told it has been that way for many months May I suggest that TA keeps their records up to date as with most technology it is driven by humans and is only as good as the information that is put in This was a very expensive mistake Obviously in future I will always check that TA is accurate I have always enjoyed TA and intend doing so in the future but please update your records
