The food here is very good. I had to try a tasting plate of everything...the chicken with preserved lemon was particularly tasty. The man serving me (maybe the owner) was lovely. Open monday to saturday during the day at St Nicks Market. I would definitely eat here again...a very pleasant experience.

Amid the hustle and bustle of St Nicolas Market, lies Cafe Atlas. This is an Al a carte Moroccan cafe, with tables outside and takeway options. The menu is simple and delicious. I had lamb with cous cous which was devine. The beautifully cooked lamb was paired with plenty of vegetables, providing both eloquent taste and texture. The price of £6.50, represented good value for a very tasty plate of food.

I opted for the take out because the place was too busy to sit down, that's a good sign always though, service was quick and I went for the lamb meatballs which were really tasty. Came with a handy plastic tub and was piping hot, cous cous and vegetables too. Very pleased and tasted pretty authentic. The price was ok for Bristol, a little high for street food in general though.

Great set up with communal tables in the middle of the market. When walking past we saw and smelt the food and felt we had to try it. On a busy Saturday lunchtime we had to hover for a few minutes to get a table. Sociable as you can't help but talk to the people next to you. Nice selection of lamb, chicken, fish and vegetarian options served with couscous and salad. Stocking value at £6.50 and a nice informal experience

The smell percolated the air as I walked through the Glass Arcade in the bustling St Nicholas Market. I just had to stop for lunch and I am glad I did. The menu offers an excellent selection and my Moroccan lamb was superb. The sweet lamb was backed by couscous, chick peas, potatoes, carrots, puy lentils and prunes. Every forkful was a joy and all for £6.50. The slick service added to the experience and seating is either inside an atmospheric area - it was packed - or outside on stools at mosaic tables. There is obviously a lot of repeat business, a testament to the quality, and if in town don't miss this place. It is only minutes from the Centre Promenade and well worth the walk up the hill.

Very authentic Moroccan eatery food delicious, communal seating. Lovely friendly waiters. Not an extensive menu but sufficient for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The lamb came with prunes and vegetables and harissa which was nice and spicey I had it with cous cous or rice was available. My friend had the falafel cold dish and she said it was delicious. Can certainly recommend the venue and food if in the market area.

We found this authentic Moroccan cafe while wandering around the St Nicholas market. It was obviously a busy and popular place drawing trade from passing shoppers needing a quick lunch. We chose chicken and rice but slow cooked lamb, meatballs and the option of couscous and various other side dishes were also available. Our meals were very tasty with a nice blend of spices and nothing too hot. Prompt service, healthy tasty food at a great price. Success on a plate!

The wonderful smells of the food cooking enticed us into this little gem. It's a lunchtime street food 'caf' and doesn't pretend to be anything else. It's a short but excellent menu choice. I had the slow cooked lamb with vegetables and rice. It was absolutely 'yummy' my wife had the chicken which she says was superb. We both had mint tea and the whole meal was under £14. The food the ambience the aroma and the service was a delight. Can't wait to go back on our next visit to Bristol. If you want a fancy restaurant where you'll pay three times the price that's your choice but you will 'not' get better flavours than you get in this little gem and you can be in and out in 20 minutes or you can linger and watch the world go by. give it a try you won't regret it. Enjoy!

This is a small Moroccan café in St Nicholas Market. There are lots of places to eat here, and they were all pretty much full on the day we came. My friend had been here the day before and liked it so much he wanted to come straight back and try something else. I can see why. The short menu is on a board on the wall. Basically you choose rice or couscous, then chicken or lamb or veggie stew. I had couscous with Moroccan chicken, and it was delicious. I might risk the veggie next time. Arabic coffee to follow. I liked it but I think I prefer Turkish. I was very impressed by the speed of the service. Choose what you want and catch the waiter's eye (sometimes easier said than done) but the food arrives within a couple of minutes. That's one beauty of a short menu, of course. It's sitting there waiting to be dished up. So it isn't cooked fresh to order but it means you are not hanging about for ages waiting for your food and have to rush your lunch to get back to work. And a stew cooked to order would take a long time. I think it should be Bab al Mansour - presuming that it is named after the Bab al Mansour Imperial Gate in Morocco. And the map locates it in Feeder Road, which is deffo a mistake!

I've been to Al bab about 7 times, 4 times it was excellent, 2 good and 1 slightly disappointing! Its always worth a punt though because when their on song the food is lovely, I've tried most things and can recommend the meatballs and the chicken, also the accompanying chickpea stew and lentils are rather pleasant. They don't seem to offer yogurt either which I think is a mistake, but the Harissa is good and spicy...Unfortunately the occasional inconsistencies in quality can mar the experience slightly. It always seems better when it's really busy, about 1ish, so hang about and grab a table when you see one becoming available, hopefully you won't regret it!!!

For £4.80 I had the mixed meat in a naan with salad and jalapeños and other accompaniments. It was huge for the price! I was so full after. It was also really tasty, every bite had a different flavours and texture. Well worth the money, well worth the time and will return every time I'm near by.

I like to visit this area of Bristol when down to see family and this market restaurant is a nice way to take a break to have some lunch. The service is gentle and attentive, a glass of tea is refreshing whilst having a chat and waiting for your food. The meals I've had are refreshingly light, full of subtle and fragrant flavours. I've had fish, lamb and chicken dishes with couscous or rice, salad and or veg and other tasty bites. I love sitting out at a table to eat whilst market like passes by.

Having walked past this place many times, today I stopped and had lunch with a friend. The menu was hard to choose from, but we settled for lamb meatballs and chicken couscous between us. Ample portions served with couscous (or rice) and spicy vegetables were immediately appealing and did not disappoint. The Arabic coffee was the icing on the cake, so to speak. Will definitely be back!

This was a highly anticipated visit as we'd seen the Moroccan restaurant during a previous visit and as it's one of my favourite cuisines I couldn't wait to try it.It's a small, authentic looking venue and the menu sounds delicious. We chose the meatballs with cous cous. The food was served very quickly but it was tepid and tasteless. Very disappointing and not at all what I was expecting; a complete let down. I think the decoration of the eating area is the attraction here, or maybe people have different requirements from their eating experience. This was definitely nothing like the food i've eaten in Morocco, which I can say was one of the best cuisines i've ever tried. One other point - we were sat next to the "kitchen" which i'm shocked to say was absolutely filthy. Trust me when I say that i'm not easily shocked having travelled extensively and eaten in some very dubious looking places over the years. I am surprised that Al Bab Mansour is allowed to operate with the hygiene laws in place in the UK.

We stopped here for lunch while sale shopping in Bristol. We'd decided we'd eat in St Nicholas Market, and this was one of the few eateries open - and we're glad that it was. There were four of us, and we were sat around one of the outside tables. Definitely felt like a street food experience.Although there's not a big choice on the menu, there's something for everyone, and we each ended up with something different - Moroccan lamb, Moroccan chicken, Moroccan meatballs, and falafel. The food was served quickly, and was very tasty. I had the lamb, which just fell off the bone, and was extremely flavoursome. All the meat dishes come with a choice of rice or couscous, and a selection of spicy vegetables. For the four of us, with drinks, the meal was just over £25, which I thought was very good value.Definitely recommended.

The food was really good, very tasty and well presented. The restaurant only has a small menu but it features the classics you'd expect and all are produced to a very high standard. The waiters were also very cheerful and friendly, we ate a 'normal' table and the other highlight of the meal was watching other diners who had sat at the 'traditional' low tables and perched on stools trying get back up at the end of their meal, luckily the waiters were on hand to assist!

Bab Mansour is situated in the St Nicholas food market and serves good food, with good service, but it is the overall experience that impresses. The place is quite small and is split into two halves; you either sit inside the mock bedouin tent (if you can get in) or sit on a table outside on the passageway. Try to get inside even if you have to wait a bit as it will be worth the wait. It is like stepping into another country, time and space. The food is very good. I had Morroccan chicken and my wife had meatballs. We were both on diets at the time and had to eat food low in fat and this suited the bill perfectly. Large platefuls of cous-cous, spiced vegetables and then our stewed meats. Delicious! We both drank mint tea which was really refreshing and the whole bill came to about £16 for both of us. The service was also very attentive and fast. There should be more places that charge this sort of money. Too many places are way overpriced.

I totally agree with the review below. This was our second visit and each time it was excellent. The service is fast and friendly and the food is top notch. Last time I had the fish tagine and my partner had the chicken tagine. This time we had the Moroccan lamb and the fafalal. They were outstanding (the reason we went back) The place is tiny, with about 8 tables so there are lots of people hovering waiting to grab a table. It is so cheap, £15 for 2 meals and drinks

This is a Moroccan cafe that is only open during the day and is in the excellent Glass Arcade in Bristol. This area is a must for visitors to Bristol. This cafe is very out of the ordinary and will make you feel you are in the souks of Marrakech. The food is excellent authentic Moroccan cuisine with lots of options for vegetarians also. If you fancy a great lamb tagine or falafel and hummus this is the place. They also serve authentic Moroccan mint tea and Arabic coffee. The seating is communal so be prepared to share the bedouin-style sofas and brass tables. The cafe also do takeaway, which appeared popular. All in all this was excellent value and an experience also.Ditch the burger chains and try some great food in this area of Bristol.

Food came quite quickly and was fairly nice, mostly. Price is absolutely insane and they add a big tip for themselves on the bill and put it's "optional' in tiny text next to it. The place is kept alive by tourists and hipsters and it really shows. If you think you deserve a 10 pound tip for 40 minutes of very ordinary service move to the USA. Won't be coming back.
