Baltic Restaurant & Bar in Southwark

As always I couldn't decide what to have and end up ordering more than I should as the food is so tasty! This is a regular for me. The staff are wonderful and friendly and the food and drink are of a high quality and gentle on the wallet :)

Really couldn't fault the food. Hearty, wholesome and tasty. Service started well with ruthless efficiency, the table being cleared of debris or dishes in a flash. However had service been quicker towards the end, they could have tempted us into a dessert.....a missed opportunity for us and them.

The food in the Baltic was good. While the full menu was on offer we took advantage of the very reasonable Sunday brunch menu. This included a brilliant Bloody Mary. The staff were friendly and we really enjoyed our time there.

I love this place. The food is unusual but delicious, the setting is amazing and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Beware the vodka if you want to do anything useful the next day though!

Excellent evening. Food from around the Baltic Sea including lots of Polish dishes.

Varied menu and everything we had was delicious especially the chicken livers. Service was very good and all the staff both charming and knowledgeable whether advising on the cocktails, wine or food.

We had our table ready with Christmas crackers which was a nice surprise, we could finally feel somewhat back to normal and the joy of the festive season. We enjoyed our meal throughout, the schnitzel is very good and the chocolate mouse was from heaven. The restaurant had a good atmosphere, the staff was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back and will recommend the restaurant to friends and colleagues.

We had a set of small dishes delivered to the table at the same time. This was no problem to the kitchen and the food was really tasty. Decent wines and very good vodka cocktails.

Faultless! We've been dining at Baltic for 20 years now and it never ever disappoints on food, service and ambience., not forgetting the amazing vodka bar with flavours that are so interesting & different although, for me, the beetroot martini takes some beating! Well done to the team and all the staff - we'll miss you in November but will be back after lockdown for sure as we're so lucky to live locally. Take care everyone at Baltic.

Fantastic cocktails, food and service in a covid safe environment on the evening before lockdown. Baltic has been a regular haunt for years and hopefully many more to come.

Always reliable Baltic again proved that high standards, rigorously kept, with humour and professional approach always pays benefits. I had Sledz pomorskie (pickled herrings) with vodka shot. Excellent . Followed by Potato Rosti topped with Potato Rosti topped with: Gravadlax. Again excellent. I had a side of Broad Beans, Green Beans and Pointed Cabbage. This not so successful; a shade too well cooked to my taste. Perhaps this dish a bit rushed. Sernik/Cheesecake. Very, very nice. A second shot of Zubrowka vodka

Nothing beats their home-made Vodka shots. The cherry has always been my favourite. Blinis and caviar and salmon gravadlax were great as were dumplings and the restaurant space is still beautifully serene.

Lovely dining room with a really nice atmosphere and beautifully lit in the evenings. The food was fantastic and both my partner and I had starters and main course. Portions were generous so we didn't have room for dessert! Staff are friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend Baltic!

We decided to get a birthday celebration in slightly early, in case of a further full lockdown. Restaurant wasn't very busy. Food and service were faultless. The pelmeni starter and the pork snitzel main course deserve a special mention as indeed does the extensive vodka mention, ha! If London isn't in some kind of lockdown by the actual day of the birthday, we'll be back to celebrate again!

Baltic es mi restaurante favorito en Londres. No solo obtiene una experiencia gastronómica de alta calidad, sino que también obtiene algo extremadamente diferente de otras experiencias gastronómicas de alta calidad. Mi esposa tenía la ensalada de anguila ahumada y el gravadlax y yo los hígados de pollo y el cuello desmenuzado de sándwich de cerdo. El servicio fue impecable, la calidad de la comida excelente y, como siempre, bebí demasiado alcohol puro. Bill fue menos de lo que esperaba, lo que hace un buen cambio en Londres. La eliminación de algunas tablas también mejora el ambiente y ciertamente me sentí Covid Safe. Mi única pequeña queja es que mi esposa es alérgica al chocolate y no había postres sin chocolate.

Great as always - the ambience and the food.

I recently celebrated my birthday in Baltic with friends and we were treated to some extra Polish vodka and I got a surprise cake with a candle! Food was delicious and staff very polite and attentive.

We have dined at Baltic on a number of occasions, but this was by far the best in terms of service. We were there celebrating a milestone birthday and there had been a small menu change and one (favourite) item had been removed. No problem for the amazing staff, who were able to go off-menu to make sure we had it. Amazing! The dumplings as a starter and Steak Tartare as main were amazing. I've had the Tartare a few times, but this was by far the best. The apple fritters were sublime. We also received a complimentary hazelnut vodka, just delicious. Glad we chose Baltic to celebrate again. Thanks to everyone who served us... they were great!

Food was lovely. Service inattentive. We checked in with QR code and were left waiting at the door. Expensive but great quality food.

Good to see Baltic back. They were obviously busier than they expected to be and service was largely too rushed and stressed to be welcoming. Noise level high as the restaurant was busy with groups celebrating something. But good to feel a buzz. Food came well timed and well presented and with all Baltic's trademark Eastern European influences. They do need to fix the Covid warning sign at the front door which doesn't tell you to go through to the restaurant. So you stand there for ages waiting to be fetched as in every other restaurant you go to. Meanwhile the bar staff are a bit too cool to walk over and help out and tell you to walk through to the restaurant area. Three of them walked right past us without saying anything. Overall we won't be rushing back until they've sorted themselves out a bit.

A bit loud in the restaurant - some soft furnishings might help?

Very friendly & heplful service & pleasant meal. The ambience was a little lacking as there were only a handful of people in a large restaurant. But that was hardly the fault of the Baltic & the CV19 arrangements felt very safe. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, thank you.

Delicious food and amazing staff. Every visit has been splendid and there are no complaints I could make. I especially enjoy their variety of home infused vodkas and their selection of cocktails. The food is really the highlight though and the atmosphere inside is bright, quiet and welcoming. Easily have recommended the restuarant to many friends.

Llamado al restaurante Baltic porque mi socio y yo estuvimos en Londres durante unas horas. Llegamos a nuestra reserva a las 12: 00 pm y el restaurante abrió a tiempo. El restaurante es muy amplio y luminoso, con muchas instalaciones para desinfectar las manos. El menú es variado, por lo que debería haber algo para satisfacer los gustos de todos. Aprovechamos el menú de dos platos y lo único decepcionante fue el hecho de que ninguno de nosotros tenía espacio para terminarlo todo. El servicio fue excelente, así que, en general, no tengo quejas.

Service was delightful. Food was delicious. It was very quiet but this is out of their control, especially during this time. Food is a little on the pricier side but a lovely treat. Would happily return.

A great and fun experience - everything we ate was great, the staff were lovely and it was cool to try the different vodkas!

Brilliant that Baltic has now reopened. We visited on the evening of 10 September when the restuarant was around 75% full. Food was of the usul high standard, with a lovely special offer of a small carafe of vodka if two main courses ordered. Also great to see the meat periogi was back on the menu.

Food and drink were both delicious, as ever. The staff were very pleasant and the service was very good except for 2 mistakes made with our order, rectified quickly when pointed out. The environment was clean and catered well for social distancing with well spaced out tables and hand sanitizer.

We went two days after they reopened from coronavirus and the first time we’d eaten here. Very tasty Eastern European food, polite waiters and nice atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

What a lovely place to eat! I invited my friends here to celebrate my 24th birthday and the staff were absolutely lovely, with extra care taken to sit us in a private booth, very attentive with our orders and even brought a cake at the end of our meal! As a Polish native, I have to say that the food was DELICIOUS. It cannot match up to my babcia's pierogi (but I have to say it came damn close). The selection of food is great in both veggie and carnivore options, and the serving sizes were completely satisfying without making you feel stuffed at all. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try some delicious eastern European cuisine in a lovely, airy space!

Baltic is one of the best restaurants in town and I’ve enjoyed wonderful meals there for years. I was keen to be there to support them on their opening night post lockdown and had one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Stylish decor, fabulous food and impeccable service. Social distancing and sanitising is diligent yet discreet and does not detract from the ambience. Looking forward to going there again, soon!

This has been one of our favourite bars (and restaurants) over the last 9 years. We have been in groups of anything from 2 to 30 (in pre-Covid times) and have always enjoyed the excellent vodkas and the food. The staff are friendly and fun and always very accommodating and helpful, they create a very friendly atmosphere that matches the ambience of the place. Still a favourite and already looking forward to the next visit.

We went here for lunch before a trip to the Old Vic, nice service and good food. We felt the dining area did not really fit with theme, but it may feel different with more diners.

I visited for lunch with a few colleagues in March 2020 and was so so impressed with everything. The service was impeccable from the start: friendly and the waiter couldnt do enough - he even marked up a makeshift gluten free menu for a colleague. The food was out quickly and was fresh and outstandingly good. I had beetroot soup for starter and beef goulash both from the set lunch menu which was unbelievably good value - two courses and a soft drink for £25 in London in a nice restaurant is almost unheard of. As for the quality both courses were amazing. The goulash came in a clay pot and the waiter ladled it on to the plate. Superb. One pointer would be to include more beef as I love my meat but for what you pay you cant go wrong. Would highly reccomend and will be returning soon!

The pre-theatre menu offers good choices and is a great bargain. The braised duck this time was one of the best dishes we have had at Baltic. Wines are good and reasonable. The menu changes some with time but offers a unique taste of Eastern European food. We continue to enjoy Baltic.

After theatre dining with friends - all with different tastes and we all loved the food. Been coming here off and on for years and it never disappoints- this time as a vegetarian I had a great choice of starters and main courses - spicy beetroot starter was amazing - will be back

Love this place. The perfect place for a smart treat if you’re seeing a show at the Old or Young Vic. I recommend the potato rösti options, either as a starter or main. Took a friend who eats only gluten-free recently and they were great at going through the menu and marking off what they could and couldn’t do. (And still a LOT of choice left.)

Well the title says it all! A very enjoyable lunch here for a late Valentine’s Day! Lovely helpful staff, great range of vodkas and tasty food! Well definitely be back for some more!

This is a favourite dinner venue of mine and it never fails to disappoint. The vodka menu is fabulous and the food is really nice. Service varies in friendliness!

We arrived at 5.45 pm and ordered their "Pre- Theatre Menu" which was delicious, with a good choice of dishes. We will be returning again in April for another visit to the Old Vic Theatre.

We stayed at Hoxton Southwark Hotel and this restaurant is very close to. It does not look what it is from the outside but if you enter you will not regret it. Great atmosphere. Amazing team inside from the lady in charge to all the waiters helping you to understand the alternatives. We went twice in a week to taste new things as we loved it the first time.The Choucroute of Golonka, Pork Belly and Polish Sausages,the Pork Schnitzel a la Holstein...everything we tasted was very good. Try! You will be happy.

Delicious food and wonderful, friendly service. The warm eel starter was very good. It is probably best to work up an appetite first to enable you to do justice to the food.

Lovely meal with great cocktails. The blinis and smoked salmon are the best, but also recommend the rabbit stew.

Friday lunch, we had a table for 6. Only 2 other tables occupied so noise level very quiet which is how we like it. Suited our reunion perfectly. Good set menu at a good price. Service good too. Highly recommended for lunch. I imagine evenings may be full and noisy as a lot of hard surfaces. All round excellent.

Very poor service. Ordered the roasted cod and received sea bass instead? Decided to take the sea bass to avoid a fuss and was very disappointed. Received a glass of vodka to compensate. It was lunchtime, I was going back to work and drinking water? I should not have been charged for the dish, £21?

Fabulous food well presented with a good choice and sensible portions. We took a la carte but there is a really good value pre theatre option. Excellent cocktails at 2 for 1 until 7.30pm ( we had 3 each !!)
