Blue Anchor in Hammersmith and Fulham

Found this place by chance had a great meal and was well treated by the staff. Got a couple of free drinks and the food was perceived by staff to be taking too long, a nice gesture indeed

The Blue Anchor itself is a very cosy pub on the water front with friendly staff. However I must sadly point out that the hamburger I was presented with for supper was extremely unpleasant. It had the consistency of loads of tiny rubber balls crammed together into a tasteless lump. Was it meat? I doubt it..

What happened!? I have been living a stones throw away from this pub for around 12 years - it used be rustic, warm and homely with a distinct local feel. (Old photographs, maps from Hammersmith from the 1800s). Now it looks as though the new brewery is trying to make it into a bar. Screens plastered on every wall, the decor bland etc. A shame - I spoke to the bar staff and they said they have a complaint every 2 hours about the look of the pub now. A shame, I won't be returning anymore.

Classic Hammersmith pub, love it.

Booked a Christmas lunch with the team and the food was really good. Had a main and desert whilst some of my colleagues went for starter and main and all were complementary of how tasty the food was .

I went for a work Xmas meal and the food was very good. Nice quiet very easy to talk to everyone upstairs but slightly too loud to talk downstairs. Nice by the river I guess but it was dark.

Una visita de regreso al súper pub y una vez más WOW, con comida increíble y grandes bebidas y maravillosas vistas. Viajamos a través de Londres para comer aquí y nos alegramos mucho de haberlo hecho. Tuvimos la sopa para empezar, la mejor que hemos comido, seguida de bocadillo de pescado y la trucha. Todo excelente y el servicio era excepcional. Tanto los chicos detrás de la barra como la fabulosa Mónica nos alegraron la tarde. Me encanta este lugar.

Great spot just food is massively overpriced

Habíamos ido por una comida clave para mi cumpleaños. Desafortunadamente, la cocina era desesperada. Para empezar, pedí el huevo escocés, que según el menú de alérgenos no contenía lácteos (y no tenía advertencia de “puede contener”). Después de haber pedido, nos dijeron que la cocina decía que el huevo escocés contenía lácteos, a pesar de la información del menú de alérgenos. Se sugirió que pidiera la sopa. El menú de alérgenos decía que la sopa contenía lácteos. Me dijeron que la cocina no estaba de acuerdo, pero no por qué. Al final, renuncié al arranque. Para el plato principal, había pedido el pescado con papas fritas sin los guisantes. Posteriormente me dijeron que la cocina dijo que contenía lácteos, incluso sin los guisantes. Pedí, y elegí una hamburguesa de res sin queso. Posteriormente me dijeron que la cocina dijo que la mayonesa contenía lácteos. Lo pedí sin mayonesa, aunque la mayonesa normalmente no contiene lácteos. Precioso pub junto al río. Ambiente agradable con personal amable y profesional. Reservamos una mesa y nos mostraron el restaurante de arriba. En muy poco tiempo teníamos nuestro pedido de bebidas tomado y luego entregado a nuestra mesa en ningún momento. Uno de nosotros tenía pescado con papas fritas y el otro había aderezado ensalada César con salmón. Ambas comidas estaban deliciosas y bien presentadas. Optamos por pudín de toffee pegajoso entre nosotros, ya que la red eléctrica era tan llena! Para cuando nos fuimos justo antes de las 7 pm el restaurante estaba lleno al igual que el bar y la zona de estar exterior, por lo que recomendaría reservar!

We never received our meals, waited 90 minutes, went home hungry. Lots of assurances from staff that it was coming but never did. Do not go there! Still hungry…

As a local to W6, I've had drinks here a couple of times in the past when walking the riverside, but never tried the food. Booked a table for a Monday evening with several friends visiting from out of town. We had a wonderful evening. The pub is a lovely venue, the food was excellent, and service from Clara was just the right balance of welcoming and attentive (and patient with explaining menu and drink options), without being intrusive or pushy. I had the chicken and leek pie, others had fish and chips or the steak - all agreed the food was delicious and portion sizes were good. The Blue Anchor is a riverside gem. Will definitely eat here again.

Perfect place for a sunny riverside lunch. Great food great beer.

Service was above and beyond. I am traveling and wanted minted mushy peas to have with my breakfast. Even though it was not on there menu they were figure a way allow me to take some with me.

Particular and evocative place on the banks of the Thames, a stone's throw from Hammersmith Bridge. We were welcomed by young, dynamic, very friendly staff who were attentive to customers' wishes. Really excellent.

After explaining my allergies and ordering £100 worth of food I was presented with food with my primary allergens. A sorry and a refund of the food I could not eat left me without dinner. Apart from almonds killing me. Sorry but a refund and no food is simply not good enough.

Excellent venue for a 60th. Very approachable, flexible and organised duty managers (Craig, Alfie; Natalie in Comms) which made planning both easy and precisely as I'd wanted, with scope to personalise the venue. Food and furniture positioned as requested. Staffing on the night was highly efficient and friendly (Nana, Will). Very popular platters (fish and chips; beef sliders; smoked salmon sarnies), especially pastel de nata. Reasonably priced selection of wine and/or drinks packages. Excellent Żubrówka vodka. A slick and enjoyable business transaction.

We booked a table here before seeing The Teskey Brothers at the Eventim on Friday 13 September. What an absolute gem of a pub. We had a table upstairs overlooking the Thames. To starter had the smoked haddock croquettes to share Whicker were Devine. We then had the goat cheese lasagna and it was simply amazing. Freshly prepared and delicious. I would put this pub high on my list of great pubs in Hammersmith.

Historically awesome pub but not sure I'm a fan anymore. Could just be London prices but £14.80 for two lager shandies feels a little steep. Bar staff were fine, although I got the impression their conversation about how big their hands are, was more important than taking my order. That being said, it's a beautiful location and usually has a good atmosphere. Food is often pretty good although I didn't have any this time.

Service variable, some staff a bit slack. Food OK but nothing to rave about, decent burgers...fish not very tasty but looked good- frozen,?

We ate well. In August the kitchen closes at 10pm. In other places nearby they close the kitchen earlier and you cannot eat at that time, but you can drink. We arrived at 8.30pm We need to inform ourselves. Whoever served us at the table was kind. Nice pub on the Thames, informal as pubs should be... that's the beauty of them! Advised!

Nice pub good views to wards Hammersmith and the river old haunt

We had Sunday roast last week. Meal was disappointing to say the least. I had tiny portion of pork belly which was tough. Cauliflower cheese barely had any cheese, mainly flour and milk. There was barely there vegetable consisting of a tiny carrots and two sprouts of broccoli. There was no crispness to the potatoes and were still hard. Overall pretty diabolical meal. My partner had roast chicken and did not fare any better. Maybe Blue Anchor is relying simply on the location and view of the river to pull in customers. I definitely won't be a repeat customer.

Loved it. Amazing pub. I left some videos so you can see it gets really crowded on a sunny day. People are just there for a good time. Amazing vibe. Fries are really good as well :)

It was a very nice experience, the Beers were very tasty. I was craving scotch egg for a while and this hit the spot just right, splendid, I'm definitely coming back.

Their Sunday roast is PHENOMENAL!!! I can’t praise this place enough - the food was yummy, the service was FANTASTIC, and the price was amazing! Wojtek and Monika served us, and they were extremely friendly, efficient and catered to all our requests (I’m currently pregnant, so am quite picky with what I eat). Wojtek was also extremely helpful with the food recommendations, and his overall energy is amazing! They also seated us indoors (upstairs), in such a cosy seating area - I’ve seen this pub a lot from the outside, but never realised how massive it was on the inside. I’m definitely coming back here!!!

Blue Anchor is in an ideal location on the riverside, I regularly visit on my weekend walks. Usually I just stop for a drink but my partner and I decided to have lunch and the grub was great, we both got the fish and chips and couldn't fault it. We were served by Alfie who was very thorough in in talking us through the menu, he was attentive and made us feel very welcome the whole time, we will definitely be back for food.

Hello The staff was very friendly and attentive and the pub is really beautiful. The food in another hand is edible but that is all . The roast beef was as hard as my shoes soles , the roast potatoes not roast at all and old , same for the Yorkshire pudding ( old ) and the gravy straight out from the box … very disappointing ! I will comeback for drinks but sadly not for food as overpriced for the quality we get …. Shame as such a a gem of location

Quaint pub, very good food! Very good value for money. Had the truffle soup and the cheeseburger with fries with truffle parmesan... that was really good!

Brilliant Saturday evening dinner and drinks by the river. Food was delicious and a fun atmosphere. The pub was busy but we were incredibly well looked after by the team. Special thanks to Alfie who went out of his way to make us welcome. He is a credit to the pub. We hope to be back soon!

Three day old roast potatoes, roast beef like an old boot, wait staff who don’t care, couldn’t cut the broccoli with a knife, but a nice setting. Replying to the reply - we would have provided this feedback if asked, but the waiter before didn’t at any point during the meal, even when presenting the bill, ask how the meal was. At this price you expect better than that, so I was a bit shocked.

I had some problems with the Mixr app however this was sorted promptly and kindly by Adam! His service was brilliant throughout our entire visit. We had crab tacos and the Sunday roasts which were all brilliant, and service was quick even though it was extremely busy. Great pub. Great view of Thames from outside. Very crowded though because it was a Very warm sunny spring Friday night and it took a long time to get served.

We ordered a pie to share. The pie was very good and juicy, but it was a little small. The most expensive beer in London is here: almost £8

Definitely one of the best pubs on the river. Still a classic looking pub inside which is fantastic with great decor. Good selection of drinks on the menu. Didn’t have any food but it looked fantastic. Used to stop here a lot on riverside bike pub crawls. Still as good as it ever was. Definitely worth going out of your way to visit.

No better boozer to stand outside of and get horribly burnt in those long summer days. This place is kerlasss

My recent trip to the Blue Anchor was okay, but there were a couple of things that didn't sit right with me, especially their last call policy. My friends and I were waiting to place our orders, but the staff seemed incredibly slow that night. We'd been standing at the bar for a good five minutes before the last call bell rang, and instead of trying to take our order, they went ahead and rang it. Another thing that bugged me was that they were serving drinks in plastic cups for most of the night even when glasses were clearly availble. If they're going for that vibe, it wouldn't hurt to be a bit more flexible with the last order window. Overall, the pub was just average. The staff were friendly enough, but the atmosphere was nothing to write home about. If you're looking for a better pub experience, there are plenty of other options nearby with more relaxed policies and a cozier vibe.

Standing at bar and they rang last bell as we were waiting to order.. Response: Hi Blue Anchor Team, Thank you for getting back to me. I understand your company policy, but I wanted to share a different viewpoint. In most pubs I've visited, it's customary to allow customers the chance to order when the last call bell rings. This ensures everyone has a fair opportunity to enjoy their evening until closing time. Being flexible with last orders is appreciated by patrons and contributes to a more welcoming atmosphere. Many pubs I've been to extend the last order window, even after the bell, especially if they've been serving drinks in plastic to-go cups most of the evening. Considering this, I suggest reconsidering your approach to last orders to better match industry standards and improve customer satisfaction. This simple adjustment could make a positive difference and enhance your pub's reputation. Thank you for taking this into account. Best regards ;)

Burgers were dry, chewy and seemed stale. Non-existent service. Not worth the money.

Came here for fish and chips with my family last week. Stunning views of the Thames and Hammersmith Bridge with lovely food and staff. Alfie really looked after us and offered us a table by the window even though we didn’t make a reservation. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Bit on the expensive side but that’s London for you in general. Gave a tip but didn’t even get a smile or thank you from it, so won’t be doing that again. Took a while to be served and in general the atmosphere inside is a bit stuffy. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun which was much nicer, although cyclists and runners cause chaos down here, almost two fights in only 20 minutes. I love this place tho as it has a place in Sliding doors and it’s got a fantastic location.

Took a date here for a few drinks and had a great time. The downstairs area looked ideal for watching sports but we went upstairs where the atmosphere was quieter with a nice view of the river. Staff were very friendly and accomodating and the drinks were at good prices considering the location. The outside area is also lovely so if the weather is nice it's a great spot.

Rude manager Adam, bad attitude, waited 20min for portion of chips too.

Went for dinner. Waitress of her own accord offered options for a salad, which we agreed. When it didnt arrive, another waiter and waitress insulted us by saying we were paying less so we couldn't get what we wanted. When they themselves had offered it. Manager ignored us. Total shambles with no respect for customers. I would avoid.

Quite a nice place for somewhere to eat

One of the worst burgers I've ever had. Edible but that's about it. Overcooked, low quality grisly mince, a pathetic piece of lettuce and some basic aioli in an oversized brioche bun. Truffle chips were false advertisement best described as grated cheese chips. Food took far too long to arrive and it wasn't peak period. If you're charging full price put in full price effort.

The Blue Anchor is my favourite pub in London, Staff always welcoming and friendly. Great atmosphere. No where better for a pint by the river in the sun.

Came oh a busy evening. Unfortunately there were not enough staff. It took 15-20 minutes to get a drink order at the bar. The asahi was poor and the Guinness was out of stock. Very unfortunate as I'd heard good things about this place. Such a shame.

I was originally looking for a pub that stocks Jeremy Clarkson's Hawkstone beer. Unfortunately, this trip was almost free, except for the fact that the fish and chips were really good. The food was delicious, but the service was a bit clumsy and not particularly welcoming. The ambience was okay, but you didn't really feel comfortable. A quick note to other Hawkstone fans: you won't find the beer here. And to the owner - it would be better if you took yourself off the Hawkstone map."

Lovely pub on the Thames. We were very lucky that the sun was out so sat outside. God priced drinks and food for London. Staff friendly and efficient. Toilets could do with regular cleaning.

Our favourite West London pub! We had a wonderful evening for my husband’s birthday recently with a gorgeous room overlooking the river with its own bar. Very friendly service and nice food. Look forward to returning in the summer and enjoying the views over the river and Hammersmith bridge. Top!

Good pub, decent but small selection of beers. Great view of the river and cosy feel. Food was well received all round. - 1 star for the terrible cleanliness of their toilets, water all over the floor and felt really unhygienic.
