Lovely cafe in Leatherhead with a wide menu and very reasonably priced

Generous portions and very good food

The service in the restaurant was terrible, especially the lady at the cash register. You're doing yourself a disservice by being nice to your customers. Not everyone is suitable for every job.

Really like the Blue Cafe it serves a good range of food and drinks the portion sizes are very generous and it is very reasonably priced and the food is very good quality with most orders freshly prepared for you once you've ordered it. It offers a large seating area inside and a small amount of seating outside. The staff are very friendly, they make you feel very welcome and it is child friendly too. They are not located in the main town centre but can be easily found, they're well known so if you can't find them directions would be easy to find. Can be busy at lunch times as a lot of locally based workers use them but they do take away too. My kids love going there. Would highly recommend them.

They reuse old milk from previous customers the short hair lady on till is so rude not friendly at all would not recommend this place at all

3 of us walked in and sat down to be ignored by both the lady behind the till and the waiter, a simple good morning wouldnt go amiss. We had to find the menus ourselves as they wasn't on the tables. Tried to order breakfast with the rude lady behind the till, wanted to swap the black pudding for an egg and got told that they could cook the breakfast without the black pudding but would charge for the egg as "they dont do that kind of thing here". Decided to leave during ordering as the lady was both rude and condescending, no wonder the cafe was empty. Reading previous reviews, it looks as though we had dodged a bullet. We found stories cafe a 2 minute walk away that had much better service and done a tasty breakfast. I look forward to the owners rude reply to this review.

Great food and a fun atmosphere. It’s great for a quick lunch or breakfast and is really affordable too! I particularly like the jacket potatoes.

Great food, great staff. I meet regularly with friends for a tea/coffee and cake and catch up. Lunch is also very reasonable and slightly larger portions. My children love going here as well for the cakes!

Heya. I was here only earlier on this year. In order to have lunch I had a jacket potato with a salad. It is a little on the more pricey side however. But the food was good. I will return again soon. Thank you so much. This is a tiny cafe and a hidden gem too. Seriously. I loved my lunch choice. Best wishes. Recommended if you are in Leatherhead and need to eat. I treated myself to a nice healthy early lunch here on one morning at ten or so. Five out of five stars. Not bad service either. Only drawback is that there are no magazines to read whilst you wait for your food. It is both a cafe and wine bar at the same time. On the high street.

Unfortunately have to agree with David W - except didn't end up ordering. Elderly staff member behind the counter was rude and dismissive. Didn't bother to stay following that experience and went around the corner to a much friendlier experience at Witherspoon

Coffee you can't really taste and unfriendly service. There are certainly better places in Leatherhead for coffee etc, such as Lucio's.

Average. Pricey full breakfast but quality sausage. Coffee was poor though, very weak & staff at till as other reviewers have said basically non communicative. Ate outside as was more welcoming than the silent stare inside.

Don't go to this place. Rude obnoxious staff.

Cold, rude. For a well presented place. The lady at the counter was very unpleasant and rude. We didn’t even want to finish our drinks. I’d give this place a miss.

We came here for breakfast today and it was first class not at all greasy and very well presented and the drinks where nice and hot as well ,the staff were all very polite and nice would definitely recommend this place and will go back again next time we are in the area.

Lady with the short black hair on the till was extremely rude and miserable to my friend and I. We requested a sandwich with out the turkey to which she barely acknowledged us. She repeated our order back to us but didnt specify the no turkey part. She didnt even make eye contact just stared solemnly at the till. I thought she didnt hear us so We repeated it to be sure, as I am allergic to Turkey. She responded with "I'm not stupid you know, I heared you the first 5 times" in a impolite and rude tone. If you heard us maybe acknowledge what we said, repeat it back to us or give any slight indication of acknowledgement. The other staff were lovely however sadly our experienced was ruined by one lady projecting her bad day on to her customers. The food was sub par at best. After reading some of the replies given to constructive feedback it's clear that this place has no regard for its customers and this is reflected in the service that leaves much to be desired. You would think that having lively restauant would fill its owners with happiness and pride. Clearly the opposite is true, I would suggest a career change but I'd pity whoever else had the pleasure of interacting with you. All the best.

no idea why the ratings are so high the food in here is horrible go to the sunshine cafe up the road they do far better food than this place had a bacon sandwich god it was horrid worst bacon sandwich ive ever eaten in my life it was cold rock solid and the bread tasted as if it gone off i actually ended up going to the sunshine cafe for more food because i binned this

Been twice this week for coffee and was extremely impressed with the quality. Friendly staff and ever so helpful when asked a question. As a coeliac my options are limited, but there is carrot cake which I have yet to sample. Music was unobtrusive and seventies/eighties. Loads of space and a real asset to Leatherhead.

Blue Cafe is a real gem, with wonderful cheerful staff (and they always remember our order when I meet the same friend here!), calm atmosphere and really great value.

Had a very poor experience with the waiting staff who just ignored me whilst I waited to order food. The lady with short dark hair on the till even called the customer behind me to order food. I was pretty shocked with the behaviour. I don’t think she enjoys her job. Anyway went to subway instead.

Absolutely wonderful. And good to know that Leatherhead has at least one cafe that sells not just good food, but excellent food, and at a more reasonable price than the others. The one disappointing thing is that they do not appear to have a lot of what is on the menu, all of the time. It is not that they have sold out, just they did not make it that day. Perhaps you could cover it over, to show it is not available that day... I must admit, reading the reviews, the 'responder' does not seem to be able to cope with negative comments in the best of ways. Yes a lot of what they are responding to are just people being, well just people, but there is a way of responding. Remember the old adage The customer is always right (then beneath that where the customer cannot read...even though they are a pain in the arse) Seriously though, just because you have been in business for 15 years, does not mean you can reply rudely to your customers, no matter how much you think, or know, them to be wrong. It will and DOES hurt your business.

Had a delicious large salad here, as an early lunch... was delicious, and was truly a large plate. Good value for money, and the ambience is pretty good. They have a large selection of items on the menu, and decent coffee and drinks too. All served quickly, with polite and friendly staff... what's not to like!

Had breakfast there yesterday and it was not good. Microwaved bacon have you ever? On a plus side, good hot toast, unfortunately served with margarine. You say you take no notice of reviews, but hear this. If you want to stay in business for another few years, you need to up your game. You require repeat business and you are not going to survive on coffee and cake sales. Your breakfast was a whopping £10.50. Each I was robbed. Firstly varying quality of ingredients, but shockingly poorly executed. As a side note you were not so busy that it required all the bashing and crashing about. If your heart is not in it give it up. You are wasting a valuable plot. There is no excuse, it was poor and you know it

There coffee is fantastic. On this occasion we did not eat. But on previous occasions I have and the paninis and baguettes are great. Definitely recommend. The staff are very helpful and friendly

Been going to Blue Cafe many years not been for a while due to lockdowns went the other lunch time to get a few take aways asked for a certain dish. Lady was very unpleasant to be honest rude. Left with our ordering. Need to up there game with all the new eating places in Leatherhead

I popped in this week for the first time to see what this cafe was like; I asked the lady with the dark hair behind the counter whether I had to order there or was it table service and she barked ‘no table service’ so I asked for an omelette and she said, ‘we don’t have omelettes and breakfast finished at 11am’ (I hasn’t even asked about breakfast.) I felt as if I was an annoyance to even ask questions and she was the rudest person I’d ever met so I left. This was midday and the place was empty which I can now understand Leatherhead needs a friendly table service cafe providing freshly cooked lunches for those working from home and sadly this isn’t it.

Ask for a fried egg in a sandwich I dare you! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great restaurant, I went for breakfast with a friend. The portions are a nice size and there is no alot if choice on the menu for breakfast, lunch and I think supper. Price wise it's really good value, and very good for the quality of the food and service

Our 4 children were served sausages that were not even cooked and utterly revolting. We respectfully complained to the owner to be told "it was a matter of opinion!" We asked for some sort of understanding and our money back but the owner said no. I said this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced and that she would be getting a review from me online and her response was "I don't care" So so rude, basically happy to serve up mess to families who are spending hard earned money and then have 0 care or understanding when there is a problem.

First time here and the food and service was fab

I am quite frankly appalled at the behaviour towards my wife this afternoon. If your tuna and mayonnaise has a spicy sauce to it, it should be on your menu especially if people have special dietary requirements, which luckily my daughter doesn’t , but the way she spoke to my wife was disgusting. Your customer service leaves a lot to be desired!!! Don’t worry, there is no danger we will be back as I am sure you will never admit you are in the wrong - perhaps you should read all the reviews and learn from it..

Excellent fresh original food and great coffee.

Great place depending on which staff member you have the pleasure to meet, Maisie and Eva are always so friendly whereas some of the other staff have display questionable behaviour and are quite rude.

I was impressed by the “fancy” decor of the blue cafe so in I went. I ordered the smoked salmon with eggs, toast and tomato’s thinking this won’t be too bad... Couldn’t of been more disappointed! Cheap smoked salmon, cheap bread, over cooked eggs, tasteless tomato’s. I won’t be going back. Lovely artwork though guys.

The most revolting breakfast I have ever had. Microwaved sausages, raw black pudding and over 10.50. I complained and the owner made a rude gesture towards me. This is the very worst restaurant in England and run by extremely rude people

Fantastic as usual, always a lovely cafe to go to. The staff are so friendly, coffee is delicious and so are the cakes. Great value too. I would recommend it to anyone.

Staff didn't seem interested to greet as you go inside and just stared, which was odd. Purchased a large latte. It was up there with the worst coffee I've ever had, far worse than office coffee machine quality. Very poor. It was only 2.30, so I'd suggest possibly it's the coffee and milk being used, would be better off charging a bit more and using better ingredients, especially as a proper coffee machine was used. I only had a few sips and left it, it was that bad and went round the corner to buy another coffee elsewhere. Didn't have food so can't comment on that. Interior looks fine.

The worst sandwich i have ever had from any cafe. Definately will not be returning, the bacon was just pure fat and the lettuce and tomato was not fresh. Shame as Leatherhead needs a good cafe however this is definately not and i wont be returning

This place is a little gem, wonderful food, so well presented. It’s such good value for money. I’ve been here many times and never disappointed but now the menu has changed slightly they have something special. This a one off restaurant not part of a group and all food is so well cooked so original. Will return ASAP

I have been to this cafe a fair amount of times for breakfast. Enjoy a plate of streaky bacon with fried eggs and toast. Its been a while though. I'd love to come here again however as my wife is celiac she doesn't want to go as they don't have gluten free bread for toast. They would get our business at least a couple fo times per month as well I am sure others who have gluten issues. If they go down the street to Waitrose and pick up a GF seeded bread and stick in freezer to have on hand we would go.

I don’t mind standing up waiting for 10 minutes but I draw the line at being ignored for all that time what a waste Of my time. Highly avoid very unprofessional behaviour

My friends and I really missed meeting here for the last few months, so pleased when it reopened. The staff are as friendly as ever (they know our order and have it ready when they see us coming!), the service is good, the drinks lovely and it's GREAT value

There was one member of staff-lady, short, dark hair who was extremely rude and short tempered, to the point where I felt so uncomfortable we had to leave the restaurant. We have never experienced such horrific customer service.

The only thing worse than the limited menu, with no allergen information, is the unbelievably rude attitude of the owner. Due to my daughter not being able to eat dairy - and no menu options with allergen information - I asked for two pieces of plain toast. No butter or spread - JUST PLAIN TOAST. I was looked up and down by the owner who frowned and said “NO. BREAKFAST FINISHED. NO EXCEPTIONS “. I don’t think putting bread in a toaster should push the culinary capabilities of a cafe chef. Clearly it does here. I will never return to somewhere I am made to feel like a second rate citizen. Horrendous experience.

Great place for a quick coffee or a catch-up with your mates over dinner. I've been popping into the Blue Cafe over the last 2 years and the service, staff and food has not failed me once! A variety of options on the menu will satisfy the most picky eaters, and the portion sizes are very agreeable. I'd 100% recommend this place to anyone I know.

Wow, I have come across some rude and disinterested people in the past but this elderly manager set a new benchmark. She clearly comes across as not wanting to be there and that she has a complete distain for the customers.Went into the restaurant to get a table. We are just ignored while staff stand around chatting. I then go closer to counter where I am still ignored. I then ask for service but the blond waitress just walks off smiling mumbling something. The elderly female manager then goes to stand by the till ( 2-3 meters away from me) And still ignores me. When I then again ask for service she shouts at me ‘ what do you want’. I ask can I have a table to which she mumbles something and walks off. I then tell her she is rude and I will give Blue Cafe a bad review. She just shrugs her shoulder and says ‘whatever’ and then just ignores me.This was the second and last time going there. The first time with the same rude manager was not much better.I will make sure to spread the word as best I can.

Been in couple of times before but not eaten because family sized tables are always reserved. Wasn't until this visit when we saw all table reserved again and just before we left again a member of staff pointed out that they are reserved for groups at anytime. Staff must be bored there's no table service and they seem to have to wait leaning against the wall until an order is ready for delivery. Surely use then to serve tables? No menu on table. Have to sit then go to front to look at menu on the wall before ordering at counter. Food is ok though ther cheese in both bacon and ham sandwiches is over powering. Coffee was watery. Staff polite and friendly enough.

Whether a relaxing morning coffee (& if hungry, scrambled eggs with bacon, Mmmm), or a lunchtime panini, or superb evening meal (try to be seated by 7.30, be kind and leave by 9.30; they’ve an early start in the morning!) a lovely cafe-restaurant. Very reasonably priced too. Loved it ever since it opened in 2007.

Been going to the Blue Cafe for at least 10 years. Always great food. The paninis are awesome. ESP the “tasty mix”. If you eat in you usually get a small salad and some crisps with the panini etc. Does get very busy at lunch time. From 12. Worth the wait. Great shop. Highly recommend.

This is a fantastic and excellent value Polish run cafe with superb food and very generous portions close to the Swan Centre. The staff are wonderful and the food delicious. This place comes highly recommended for a value and filling lunch and a great place to catch up with friends.

Charming little coffee shop with a good selection of coffee and an equally impressive range of cakes. Very friendly staff and a fantastic place for a quick business meeting. Highly recommended with convenient parking at the back or in the Swan Centre.

Fantastic value friendly and buzzing cafe with wide hoice of hearty lunch meals or salads. Has big window views on the outside street activity as well as outside tables for enjoying when weather permits.
