Very nice place, very nice atmosphere

Very Disappointing!! Arrived for brunch with my wife who is coeliac so GF is essential. My wife ordered a meal off the menu which was identified as GF.... vegetarian haggis with tomato, hash brown, egg, beans, mushrooms and a slice of GF bread. Meal arrived without the haggis. No mention of this from the staff, it took my wife to ask why there was no haggis. ... the main item of the meal. She was told it was because they couldn't guarantee it was GF. No mention of this when I ordered and full price charged and paid. Borderline scandalous. Needless to say, won't be going back.

We have been regular visitors to this place when taking a stroll down the.river. We arrived just as it was closing and a young man was sweeping the floors. I asked him if they were still open and he fired back a nasty arrogant tirade at me. After years of being a customer we will now be giving this place a miss from now on. The lady manager is lovely but the two young men must be the owners sons as they are always sullen , bad at customer service and act like working there is beneath them

The Moorings is a fantastic place to drop by for drink or dine eat. Very personable, attentive and so humble staff who treat you like in way to make a personal touch so do their service. I just drop by because found out door seatings so romantic and amazing place for a coffee. Even atmosphere inside was awesome too. Highly recommend

We dropped in here after a winters walk in the snow, the grandkids were soaked after skulling snow angels! The ladies here couldn't have been more accommodating, even drying the kids clothes in the dryer! The food and atmosphere were excellent, would highly recommend!

I arrived at The Moorings around 5pm, knowing that they were due to close at 5.30pm. I had cycled 9 miles to get there and was breathless upon arrival, thinking I would be turned away!! The staff could not have been more accommodating. I ordered a pot of Earl Grey tea and a scone with jam/cream. I was assured that there was no rush and to take my time and enjoy it. I sat outside, overlooking the stunning River Dee and soaking up the lovely early evening atmosphere. Couldn't fault it. Thank you so much guys (Pete?). I'll be back for more as soon as the poxy weather allows. LOL. Debbie. xx

Me and my hubby went for lunch on Friday 30th Aug, my hubby had the veggie panini , he started to feel ill as we left the restaurant and started vomiting , I emailed the restaurant to advise I think he had food poisoning from eating the panini ,the response I got was they would not take any responsibility and it could have been something he ate in the previous 48 hours, my hubby was fine until he ate this panini, no offer of a refund at all ,just an apology ,not good enough I am afraid ,very disappointing 😢

Sat at the bay window so had a beautiful view of the river. The service was friendly and the food was lovely.

I think The Moorings might be the best thing about Chester! Beautiful location, helpful friendly staff, delicious food and drink, great atmosphere. We've visited Chester twice and our favourite memories were made here. This time my daughter accidentally left her bag and the staff had looked after it and were so lovely about it... When collecting it the next day we couldn't resist staying for brunch! Thoroughly recommend the Veggie Haggis Cibatta... No photos as it didn't last long! Thank you!

Called in for a quick pit stop with our doggy . Everything about this place I could not fault even to being so thoughtful and bringing our dog some water has it was really warm that day . The food and drinks were really good and not expensive . Would recommend highly a visit

We chose this place as it looked so beautiful to sit by the river enjoying breakfast. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be- we had to sit inside as we chose the full breakfast. Inside, there was no atmosphere, no ambience. The lady serving wasn’t very welcoming. Overpriced for what you get. We waited a long time for the coffee to come- by the time it came, so did breakfast. No sweeteners available, only sugar. I think next time, I would walk along the river to see what other options there are including sitting by the river

Worst roast dinner ever,3 meat roast.Beef was all fat,and unedable,wifes was uncooked,roast potatoes where frozen ones. But staff where great,and got the 2 meals deducted from bill

We love this place. We make an effort to go there every time we visit Chester. However our last visit didn't live up to our previous experiences. Granted, they were extremely busy, but waiting 25 minutes for a peroni out of the fridge and glass of prosecco was unacceptable. Maybe it's time to find a new "go to" bar 😥

The restaurant is situated in the riverside of Chester tourist spot. Our table is having a stunning view towards the river. Food and drinks are average, but the scone is a bit disappointed as its cold.

Wonderful location but indifferent service, waited more than 10 minutes to be shown to a table while staff chatted. Food uninspiring,,sandwiches dry and lacking flavour. Children' s meal consisted of 2 quarters of a very small sandwich with a meagre sprinkling of crisps, a couple of slices of apple and no drink, extremely overpriced. We found it impossible to talk due to dogs barking, one pampered pet was actually seated at the table next to its owner and another taken into the toilets, not the most reassuring or salubrious advertisement for a safe dining experience.Won't be returning.

My favourite restaurant in Chester, by the river. Tasteful decor, circular table in the gorgeous bay window. Superb food; fish pie for 2 of us and was the best ever!! Great desserts. Great coffee. Recommend here without hesitation.

Stopped in for breakfast on our weekend visit to Chester, the food was of top quality and swapping things into and out of the fixed English breakfast was no problem at all. My partner had the veggie breakfast which was of an equally high standard. Highlight for us both was the veggie haggis!!!

Popped in for lunch, I had the mushroom and Stilton soup...it was delicious. Friends food looked good also.

Excellent service, very friendly staff . The food was also excellent , we both had the fish finger bap. The fish fingers were definitely not out of a packet . It was a day trip , but if we are ever in the area again , we will definitely go back

On the 2nd of October,me and my boyfriend we went there for coffee. Place is next to the river, beautiful view. We decided to eat something. Poached eggs on top of toasted muffins with smoked salmon-delicious!!! We paid for that plus coffee and tea £25... Very fresh and sauce was brilliant!! Sandwich with fish sticks plus veggies and fries was good too!! Customer service was perfect, very nice, helpful and kind. I recommend for everyone. Thank you and see you soon again 😁 Ania and Dek

If you're visiting the groves you should go to the moorings, a delightful restaurant right on the river banks, lots of outside seating, lovely inside, very cosy.

Lovely setting right on the river, food was good and when we went it wasn't to busy so we were served quite quickly. Would go back.

Stopped for a coffee and scone. Sat outside to look after our bikes, it was a pleasant day. Lovely seeing the river cruises going up and down river along the odd canoe / kayak. Coffee was good and scone tasted really nice with plenty of fruit( no glaze cherries thank goodness). Would go there again. Not too expensive for a Chester cafe👌👍

Lovely eatery right on the riverside. The menu's for indoor and outdoor differ slightly. We arrived just after opening and sat inside as it looked like rain was imminent. The staff were very friendly and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere. Food is delicious, well presented using excellent quality ingredients.

Came here for lunch on my mom's birthday. Haven't been since about 2010 and my god the food is so good, the sausage and mash with gravy is out of this world, I'm not surprised it's award winning. The inside has been renovated since I last came and now it looks nice and sleek inside. Would highly recommend.

Always stop here for a rest and use the toilet facilties which are always clean and well kept. I peruse the shopping area and sometimes make a purchase in the deli dept. It's nearly always busy but don't have to queue for long as staff are very efficient and welcoming.

Had a bacon, egg and sausage roll (whatever it was called) sitting outside, by the river. Delicious food. Would probably be 5 stars once I've experienced sitting inside.

Very nice little place with high quality food this is an excellent choice for a relaxing stop. The staff are helpful and give great service. You can site on edge of the riverside and enjoy one of the best views of Chester or inside if the weather turns. The menu was ample but the quality was excellent. If you want something a little special than this should be one your short list.

Placed on the side of the river this popular riverside eaterie offers lovely food and beverages. We popped in just for a coffee and was impressed by its Clean and smart appearance with attentive staff,EXCELLENT.

Love this place. It used to be called The Blue Moon (nothing to do with Manchester City) and still retains its character and charisma. The staff were really attentive and friendly too.

Won't be buying cross again..... £2.50 for what tasted like a standard bag of walkers crisps but served in a bowl!!!! Still looking forward to returning tho.
