Breddos Tacos in Islington

Me and my husband have been going for years, actually where we went on our first date. We went today - it was so freezing cold that we had to keep our coats on. So cold that other tables were leaving. When we ordered starters we were told they'd run out of potatoes (bearing in mind this was 7pm on a Saturday night) so couldn't get what we wanted. so because it was so cold in the restaurant we had the starters (corn and guac with chips) that were available and asked for the bill deciding not to stay for mains. When the bill came (corn, Guac and 2x cocktails) we asked for the service charge to be removed and the waitress had such a hissy fit about it. We've recommended this place as the best mexican restaurant in London for years but honestly don't bother.

The food is tasty although definitely not worth the high price. The staff are very nice and the decor and atmosphere are on point. However the seating is not comfortable and paying those prices is a bit unfair. All in all it’s worth a visit but expect an expensive bill and a sore back.

I was really looking forward to eating here, however, unfortunately the food was disappointing. The fish tacos smelled a little fishy ( fish is not supposed to smell fishy when cooked) the aubergine tacos were okay, not particularly well seasonsed. I did enjoy the chicken tacos out of the three that we ordered. The Limonade tasted home-made but not in a good way. The staff were friendly, so I did appreciate that. Atmosphere was okay, however not comfortable seating and the door didnt shut properly which meant it was very cold when sitting on the stool near the window. For the price paid, unfortunately it was not great (quality) food.

Great Tacos, but Beware of the Lunch Menu Deal! The waiter informed us that we could order any drink as part of the deal, but when the bill arrived, we were charged for the drinks and told that only the limeade was included in the meal. This felt intentional, so I urge everyone to be cautious.

Really enjoyed the tacos and drinks! Will come again. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve tried in London so far!

Great atmosphere, staff and food!

Breddos Tacos has been an asset to the neighbourhood since it opened in 2016. We're blessed to have Breddos' consistently excellent food, service and ambience.

Last minute booking before an evening show at the Barbican. Friendly and helpful staff in a clean restaurant. Food was tasty - we sat along at the window so poorly lit and couldn't enjoy the general atmosphere of the room, but we enjoyed people watching. We only wanted a light meal, so we enjoyed the Totopos with garlic crema and split the masa fried chicken tacos (with habanero mayo, red cabbage, pico de gallo & habanero) and the birria de res tacos (braised beef shin & short rib with guajillo chile & ancho chile). Both equally delicious, with a crisp batter on the chicken and melt-in-the-mouth juicy beef both perfectly paired with their accompaniments. Really enjoyed and can't wait to come back to try more dishes and a drink or two.

Good food, especially the ribeye taco

Really super food, in a lovely restaurant with fantastic service. I'd love to go again. I would say it's definitely on the pricier side, and you should stay away if you're vegetarian, there is no choice at all in veggie mains.

Food was very nice! I thought that the fish tacos and ceviche tostada were bomb. Chicken wings were decent, birria tacos ok and the egg and mushroom tacos mid to meh.. no flavour to it so would avoid that one! Cocktails were good, but the classic margarita didn’t have any sugar in it so tasted super strong which was not very enjoyable. Staff were nice but I did ask for a good table as it was my partners bday and they sat me at a pretty bad spot had to ask to move which was totally ok. But no attention to detail in my opinion. Pretty pricey but would come back!

I’ve struggled to find good quality Mexican food in london that doesn’t play into a stereotypical caricature of Mexican culture. Breddos is a nice intimate space with excellent service. Spicy margarita was perfectly balanced and complimented the tuna tostado + birria taco. I will be returning soon!

Amazing place for Tacos, loved the Baja Fish and Fried Chicken tacos, both fresh and crispy. Two of the starters we wanted were unavailable which was a bit unfortunate, and I think 3 tacos for the price would have been perfect.

Cerca del Barbican Centre. Animado, muy sabroso y no esperar mucho tiempo para la comida. El Classico Margarita fue excelente y el chef debe ser felicitado por el Pollo Asado Special. Tuve la suerte de estar con alguien que cree en compartir buena comida, así que felizmente pudimos probar algo de todo lo que se ordenó. ¡Mi boca estaba tan feliz! Ha pasado demasiado tiempo desde que tuve buena comida mexicana influenciada.

We had lunch and really enjoyed the food. We had one margarita, guacamole, chicken and fish tacos. All very tasty and delicious. The chicken and fish were so good, the sauce and cabbage went perfectly with the rest. Overall we would definitely come back. A set of 2 tacos is 10 pounds roughly.

Having lived in Mexico, I was very happy to find Breddo’s right around the corner from our business. The food was excellent, as was the service. Thank you, Breddo’s! We will be back!

Lovely service and atmosphere at Breddos Tacos. However, the food was disappointing. All the dishes lacked flavour, seasoning and was extremely basic food, that in my opinion did not match up to the restaurants prices.

Nice service but food was rubbish, for what you are paying it’s extortionate and the chicken tacos were cold. The ‘chips with cheese ‘ were just some tortilla chips with greasy cheese filled bowl which was hugely disappointing and sickly. a shame as our service was lovely ,

The rice bowl plate was small and food was cold. It tasted good though. Giving it 3 stars be cause it's also expensive for what it is

Probably the best Mexican in London

Had a Chinese team member visiting, they asked about tacos and I said that I had eaten here a decade ago and it was great. The food hasn't changed, still great, authentic soft tacos with delicious and generous fillings. Had a team of us eat here, everyone enjoyed everything and we've already planned another lunch next time the team are in the UK

Overall the food is okay, not the best tacos in London. The birra taco "starter" was nice. The fried chicken and aubergine tacos were average. Seating at wooden planks against the wall is uncomfortable. Typical London eatery where they bring 5 plates of food at once and there's not enough space and the food is getting cold. Service was very average but on standard for casual London restaurants. £75 for two people without drinks. DF Tacos and Proper Tacos (Nag's Head Market) are both better.

The tacos were mostly good, except for the birria taco. There was too much meat on such a small tortilla, and it was poorly seasoned and watery—it needed to reduce for longer. The fish tacos were good. The tostadas were decent, but the fish on one was salty. Also, fish tostadas don't need any sauce; stop smothering everything in mayo, etc. Less is more when the ingredients are high quality and cooked properly. I'm not coming back as there are better authentic Mexican places in London!

We had a mixed experience. In terms of food, the starters (tacos/tostadas etc) were tasty and intriguing. But then the main was quite bland and disappointing. In terms the room, we had (for most of dinner) to sit on one of the many very uncomfortable and located in weird angles stools. So if you get one the tables with wooden benches or come for take away, I'd recommend the starters. Spent 90GBP for two, for enough food, 1 cocktail and 2 beers

Really nice food and atmosphere at this little restaurant. Everything was very flavourful and fresh tasting. We particularly liked the Seabass Ceviche on the specials menu. They could do with a bigger wine list, but apart from that it is difficult to fault.

Delicious food, highly recommend the baja mushroom and chicken tacos. Good vegetarian options, and although there aren't vegan options on the menu the staff helped adjust the dishes

The chilli margaritas were the highlight of the evening.... very nice. Tacos, had the baja fish and birria both really nice n tasty, not the best in London but good. Nice atmosphere and service was good. Took a star off, my only issue was the beer on tap ....you're paying restaurant pint prices but get served less than a standard pint, I think the measure should be on the menu if it is non-standard.

Spontaneously popped on after wanting to try for years and it was beautiful! Micheladas were amazing as was the food. Stars of the show were the tunas tostad, elotes and fish tacos. Will be back for sure!

My new favourite restaurant in London, I had the best experience on my birthday for dinner. Food is absolutely incredible, and the service was some of the best service I've received in London. Extremely attentive and friendly staff, with authentic cuisine. I just wish they were open 7 days a week! Lol

A very good meal worthy of 5* but for the cold stale totopos with the guacamole (which was great, itself). Also, the Elote was very tasty except it was a far cry from the web picture (especially sad as fresh corn cobs are in season at the moment). The tuna tostada was super fresh. We had two deluxe combos: I had excellent fish and chicken, my partner had egg and mushroom. The "mushroom" was unidentifiable but delicious. The seasoned rice is worth a special mention. The dessert ice cream bar was a surprise confection of chocolate, honeycomb and caramel, produced locally. I'll come back to try the miso and Guinness version. There are lots of dining places with stools and a few booths. With lots of hard surfaces, breddos could be extraordinarily loud in full swing. We enjoyed a more sedate setting for our late lunch.

Came here for dinner with friends. The cocktails were delicious (specifically the margarita's). The staff were lovely and friendly without being overly attentive. We had some crispy potatoes that were insane to eat. Also had baja fish tacos - had a slight kick and were great and generously sized. The corn on cob was perfect.

The potatoes made me a better man. I’d say top three potato experience of my life. The tacos were also really good BUT THE POTATOES!

Sweetcorn, guacamole and cocktails were nice but the tortilla chips were stale and the pork neck was all fat no meat which I pointed out to the staff and they didn’t do anything about which was a shame as it was quite expensive.

Really good tacos! The best thing for me was the sweetcorn. It was so delicious that I had to order twice hahaha. I really recommend it!

The chicken wings were okay - they had a really thick glaze that wasn’t great. I got the lunch time bowl with the baja fish and fried chicken tacos. You get one of each with rice and beans. The rice and beans were amazing! There was only one choice for drink which was quite sour. The best things were the fish tacos. Other than that a bit overpriced. Give the starters a miss!

Food was excellent taste, albeit small portions so my recommendation is you order a lot of small dishes (we had 4 taco dishes, two small plates between 4). Service was decent, speed wise. Waitresses weren't that enthusiastic but a thoroughly enjoyable and quality option for Mexican.

My friends and I had a Thursday meal at Breddos. We were all impressed by the quality, freshness and taste of the food and enjoyed the cocktails. I'd recommend Breddos for anyone who is interested in a high-quality and upmarket meal in the Holborn area. The look and feel of the restaurant is cosy, intimate and atmospheric, and I enjoyed the record collection and music choices of the staff. Friendly and attentive service too. I'm looking forward to going again sometime soon!

The food was excellent, so tasty. Truly represents Mexican food. The service was amazing too, we were attended so well. There is a small bar between the tables and the kitchen. The place is small but the atmosphere is great. The whole place looked clean. You can see what happens in the kitchen and, although it was busy, our food was served quickly. Big thank you to Ian and the rest of the kitchen staff, Magdalena and the rest of the staff. We'll gladly return for another visit!

10/10 best tacos in town, by a long shot. Starters, wings and papas, chicken fell off the bone and the honey glazed spuds were nothing short of a god send. Onto mains Baja fish, fresh, zesty and full of flavour. Chicken, fried well and crispy superb flavour Birria, beef shin, slightly dry but none the less tasty Will be back and will recommend to anyone who’s a taco lovers. Lively taqueria bar offering authentic Mexican flavors! Tacos bursting with fresh ingredients, accompanied by zesty salsas and margaritas. Vibrant atmosphere, perfect for casual gatherings. A must-visit for taco aficionados! Chicken wings and the michelada were fantastic.

The food is not bad but it doesn't have any of the brightness, zing and interesting flavours that characterize Mexican cuisine. The fish and mushroom tacos tasted basically the same. I was puzzled that we were sat on very uncomfortable high chairs while the seats at the tables were empty for the entire duration of our stay. The restaurant also smells of stale, fried oil.

Food was average but came quickly enough and was hot. Difficult to get staff attention but biggest concern was when our hostess used our open water bottle as a ledge to lean her arms/ hands on whilst discussing the food options with us. Had to ask for another and wasn’t offered by default. Made me question the overarching cleanliness of the joint.

Hands down best Mexican food around!

Booked 8 months in advance (booked along theater tickets), but still given a tiny stool with no leg room and table surface by the door. After asking to move, moved into the corner were I would be butt-to-butt with a fellow diner. I couldn't put my bag down. After the waitress told us to move again, I gave up and walked out. There was only 7 diners in there with tonnes of seating!

Best tacos in London!! I can't thank Ado and the team enough for accommodating our large corporate booking at short notice - they even moved things around so we could stay all night. The service was incredible and the food and drinks were even better. Dine at Breddos, you won't regret it!

Dim lit and cosy, food was quite bland and the chicken wings were terrible, tasted undercooked and poorly seasoned Got half price through First Table and still don’t think it was worth it. Having eaten here before and receiving rude service and sitting on uncomfortable bar stools, I decided to try again today. Me and my friends were shown to our bar seats whilst all tables were empty. We asked multiple times to be sat on a table to which we were told many different narratives and then we were finally offered a table for one hour. We were about to sit here when I tried to confirm with the very rude waitress that we would return to our bar stools once the tables original guests arrive in an hour, but we were told they would have to allocate us the table on their system if we sat there and so the bar stools would be available for other diners. There was absolutely no effort to come to a solution (like not changing our seating on the system to ensure we have the bar stools when done with the table) and we thought the service was so rude that we decided to leave and go to a restaurant across the street which was much more friendly and welcoming. Will never be returning here even if I was offered the food for free!! What a shame!

Amazing authentic Mexican food delivered in style. Incredible how such a small kitchen can knock out insanely good food. Spicy Margs are a must have as are the tostadas. Order everything and then order everything again.

The food is absolutely amazing although if you want a feast, it will cost you a pretty penny 😅. Great atmosphere and vibe... they will ask for the table back after an hour and 1/2 so if there is more than 4 of you and you want another round of tacos you may run out of time ... they are quite strict about enforcing this, arguably rightly so as they are extremely popular. However I do feel they could offer better non-alcoholic options such as a good beer option or a decent non-alcoholic cocktail rather than just effectively lime and soda.

Breados: My partner and I always come here for the fish tacos 🌮 and we always love it! We believe they make the best fish tacos in London, as two years ago my partner and I decided to go around different Mexican restaurants and just ordered FISH TACOS! Trust me, they make the best one in LONDON! This time we also had the honey potatoes, chorizo melted cheese and a kind of beef quesadilla. All the dishes were stunning! We were served by a friendly Spanish waitress who was really kind and helpful to us. We wanted to order a biscuit margarita, but they didn’t make it anymore and our waitress recommended us the passion fruit margarita, and it was super yummy! I’ll absolutely recommend this place as my partner and I have been more than 10 times! Remember to order the fish tacos and chorizo with melted cheese! Beddros, see you again soon! THANK YOU!

Food is always great! Always looking forward to go back. Stuff is amazing, super friendly and helpful. SAMMY was a star- we came without reservation and had just 1 hour. Place was packed but Sammy was so great and accommodated us. Wonderful customer service and connection! Thank you Sammy!!

Everything was amazing. Especially the tuna tostadas and the corn! Best corn I’ve ever had. Also shout out to the fish tacos. Anything with the habanero Mayo is delicious. Bought the cookbook and can’t wait to make some of the recipes from home. Definitely well priced for what you get. Highly recommend. 😋😋

The food was lacking in flavor to be honest. It looked great as in presentation, but the flavors weren't there for me. Staff and atmosphere were excellent.

A taco spot with potential, but it does lack some details to take it to the next level. The beef tacos lacked complex flavour, and both the beef and bread had a grainy texture which i did not love. The fried chicken tacos had a great crunch, but lacked a punch in flavour as well! The staff is super friendly and the place had a chill vibe, however, the place would benefit from focusing on the music to elevate the mood! The price is a bit steep at the moment conciderinh the quality of the food, as you have to pay a decent amount to leave full. Thus leading to a lower score

Really friendly staff and some of the best Mexican food I've had in the UK. Reasonably priced for London and everything we ate was simply delicious. I don't like coriander (which I know is ironic since I love Mexican) but the staff were so kind about it and made sure to make my tacos with the pico on the side. They even offered to look after my suitcase while we ate. 10/10 would go back again.

Booked a table for cinco de mayo, said my partner was disabled. Service terrible, told to sit on stools even though I specifically asked for an appropriate table, (and restaurant was empty). Service was ignorant and nonchalant at best. Disappointed and quite frankly disgraceful. One server followed my partner outside to offer us our money back.

The queso was good, melty and stretchy, but would benefit from something fresh to go with it. The elote was perfect. The masa fried chicken taco was very good. The chicken was crunchy, the sauce was great, and the fresh vegetables on top worked really well with the rest of the ingredients. The birria de res was disappointing. The meat itself was dry, and the flavor was not quite there. The staff was friendly and nice, and the place itself was clean and tidy.

Fried chicken tacos were so goooood, also had the beef one but prefer the chicken though. However, you need more than 3 tacos to be full.
