Brian Maule at Chardon d'Or in Glasgow City

We had the Christmas Dine at Home by BM. It was absolutely fantastic and loads of great well cooked and fresh ingredients. The instructions were perfect and the Beef Wellington was superb. During this pandemic our Christmas Dinner helped us forget it for a few hours. Once again very highly recommended.

As a special celebration, we had the Dine at Home 4 course dinner from BM.The various (16) ingredients were sealed in plastic pouches, which worked very. Everything was fresh and undamaged. Each course was as near perfection as you could imagine. The starter of caramelized onion and brie tart served with lettuce, poached pears and spicy pear gel was outstanding.Highly recommended.

My husband and I were there last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a lovely evening, and the staff and food made the night very special. We sat in the new downstairs bar for pre-dinner drinks. Relaxing, swish and very enjoyable.

Tuve una comida "cenar fuera pero en" anoche de Brian Maule ¡fue un placer contemplarla! Muy fácil de calentar y terminar en el plato. Las instrucciones eran fáciles de seguir y disfruté armándolas. El Salmon Rillette estaba delicioso, la sopa hermosa, la carne de res y todos los adornos extra especiales y una panna cotta con fresas fue increíble. Una excelente manera de cenar en casa y todo funciona a la perfección. Gracias por una experiencia tan positiva, lo volveremos a hacer pronto.

Service and food were the best I’ve experienced in the U.K. Every course was beautifully presented and delicious. Staff were friendly, helpful, professional but not obtrusive. Will definitely be back!

Came for a meal here with my partner. Food was delicious and staff were friendly and knowledgable about the dishes. A good level of care was taken due to the current COVID-19 situation. We will definitely be back.

Context: I have been to this restaurant many times over the past 10 years and have never been disappointed.Food: Excellent quality with fresh ingredients cooked with French technique. We had the Celebration (Tasting) Menu with matching wines on this occasion. Service: Very friendly and not overly fussy/formal.Drinks: We started with a couple of very nice cocktails. The matching wines were superb, which is often not the case with these deals.Value: Although the meal was expensive, we left feeling throughly satisfied.

We have just returned from a tasting menu experience. I feel torn because the surroundings, the service and the wine was all superb. The food was not the highlight, and this is coming from a foody. Some dishes on our tasting menu were cleverly executed, such as the pickled vegetable; starting sweet and ending acidic- very clever, especially when the pairing wine wiped the palate clean. But then other dishes on the tasting menu seemed as though they were there just to fill a gap, such as a parsnip soup and mango sorbet - hate to say it, but pretty boring from my perspective! Still tasty, but I lost interest after a while.Despite this, the service was wonderful. We were served by Carly for our wine and she was extremely knowledgable, so passionate and it was clear that high standards of service was her goal. The food wasnt terrible by any means - well presented, cooked very well, good flavours but I do feel that they missed an opportunity to demonstrate skill an innovation when we asked for a vegan tasting menu. Our surrounding tables' plates looked much more exciting and I simply stopped eating after a while. I will certainly return but mainly because Glasgow really doesnt have much to offer in the way of fine dining. I wish the kitchen showed more creativity for a vegan menu because if they did, I would never leave the place.Highlights- AMAZING wine menu; service is outstanding, all servers were trained to high standards but particularly Carly and Cal saw that we were well looked after, the atmosphere is perfect. Just show us more creativity in the food please!!!!

We were a bit worried about eating out post-lockdown but we're very glad we went here first. Food was excellent as usual but also they went out of their way to keep us safe while on the premises. Great staff and great food.

The one thing we missed during lockdown was a visit to our favourite restaurant, so it made sense to book right away when lockdown was eased. While we are all being cautious of not getting complacent of the severity of Covid, it does from a psychological perspective, bring normality and a great place to start....what a beautiful Saturday night! I would like to thank all the staff of Chardon D’Or, the Golden Thistle ( Hardy, Scottish and Resilient ) for making our night fantastic, the motivation, attentiveness and caring attitude is equally as important as the beautiful food and wine. Allmeasures were taken to abide by government recommendations, however there was a fantastic family, teamwork attitude to succeeding and making our night wonderful!Our food as always was exquisite, but what was exceptional was that during those hours, we didn’t feel that there was a difference as to pre Covid, all ambience was as we have experienced, albeit masks on all staff, not a problem, eyes are the windows to the soul. I strongly advise anyone to get out and support our wonderful hospitality industry, the most important and hard working bastion of the leisure industry. You will not be disappointed and will leave as pre Covid with a feeling of joy, satisfaction and a full belly ... and as a Scot the most important thing in the world!

Smallish restaurant in the heart of Glasgow with plenty of parking outside, however parking is expensive. Beautiful entrance and warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff were first class, very helpful and kind. Our choice from the variable menu was Pork and ham terrine with lovely trimmings and Pot roast beef and chicken to follow. There were two of us I hasten to add, my wife and I enjoying a 'Voucher for two' Christmas gift. There seems to be two very spacious restaurant sections with a secluded bar on the ground floor and a huge area downstairs for private functions. The whole area is perfectly clean with quiet music in the background. Each table is totally stripped after guests leave, with clean tablecloths and cutlery laid out for the next customers. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and cannot recomment it highly enough. Very friendly, helpful and kind staff.

What a delightful evening here. The food was beautiful and matched by fabulously attentive and knowledgeable service. Our service from start to finish was a delight in flavours, quality and making you feel special. We shall be back here.

Lunch today and everything was superb. Comfortable dining room, friendly efficient serving staff but it's the food that marks this restaurant out as a Glasgow classic.

Ate at the restaurant last week and it was fantastic, the starters were good sized portions, delicious fresh bread, we both had the beef for mains, this came with potato gratin and veg,with a lovely sauce, beef cooked perpectly, wine was good, the staff were lovely and friendly,very helpful, will definitely be back soon. Best restaurant we have visited in a while.

We got this as a gift from our daughter for Christmas, we loved the experience, the table staff were excellent, very welcoming and knowledgeable, the food and accompanied wine was very well matched ,that is all the great and good stuff out the way ,but for a fine dine experience here comes the negative points ladies toilet hanging with a stail urine smell ,no hand towels in the middle of peak service and spent toilet roll tubes on the floor, tissue box was empty, on another Serious Note when presented with the bill the postcard in the wallet had another customers Coments,Address, @mail ,phone number,personal details witch is against GDPR lack of detail and care from management .

Fine dining in great company. Service excellent. Staff friendly. Food excellent, great choices. Had the fish which was very enjoyable but wanted the beef when I saw it. Wines a very good choice. You must try it.

This is the third time we have visited and the food and service lived up to our expectations again. I had the bream and a fabulous chocolate mouse while my partner had lamb and tart tartin . All beautifully presented by attentive and friendly staff Lovely atmosphere and really enjoyed our evening.

The warm welcome and good service couldn't detract from the disappointing amuse bouche and starters. The 3 goats cheese bonbons required more than three tiny pieces of tomato to offset the cheese, the haggis was good however the pastry a little thick in places. We both enjoyed our fish mains with some great flavours although the fish was just over. The wine was good and the service friendly yet unobtrusive.

Just returned from another fantastic meal with my fiancé at Chardon d’Or. From the minute we walked through the door till the minute we left, it was absolutely first class. Brian’s food is by far the best food I’ve ever tasted and with the very attentive service that we received from Cal and his team, I think that this perfect combination makes Chardon d’Or thee best restaurant in Glasgow.

My family and I dined at the weekend for my daughter’s birthday...it’s her favourite restaurant. I love the restaurant’s ambience and we had a lovely intimate table by the window. A superb evening with first class food, wine and service!

What a letdown. We had booked early on a Friday evening and the restaurant was reasonably quiet when we arrived. It was off to a promising start when the maitre' d took our coats and directed us to our table (a lovely window seat). We were offered drinks from the bar which we declined and said we would wait for the wine list instead.

Service is fantastic, food is exceptional, your outside the passing trade circle of the town centre that so many food places rely on on so this place has to perform to survive and it does - every time....

It has been a couple of years since we last visited, but if anything both service and food have improved from an already high standard. Service felt friendly and polite, and I have always liked the understated decor, but it was the food which blew us away - my lamb and my partners pork were particular highlights. Whilst it does sit at the higher end in terms of price point for Glasgow, we both felt it was worth ever penny, and we will definitely return.

First time here and, unfortunately, it was desperately poor. The food was very disappointing. Tasteless, bland and the meat was overdone and dry. Potatoes hard. Most of our food was left uneaten.

Thought long and hard about this feedback. I hate leaving negative reviews. But want to spare others the expense and disappointment.

Fantastic food and wine. Excellent service but not intrusive. Been before and will be back again. One of our favourite restaurants in Glasgow.

We had business dinner for colleagues in a private room downstairs. The food was mouthwateringly delicious. Every individual element was cooked to perfection. The set up and ambience was stunning and highly suitable for a private party. All the guests were particularly impressed by the friendly and efficient service provided by the staff Halle. We would definitely like to return.

Visited this restaurant recently for a special occasion, based on word of mouth, but we were very disappointed with the food. The starter of scallops and mains of steak were bland. The pudding wasn’t any better. On the up side the decor and ambience was nice. The staff were polite and attentive We won’t be back as in our opinion there are better fine dining restaurants out there. Sorry won’t be back....

We had been to Brian Maules before so this time we invited another couple. I cannot praise the restaurant highly enough Cal and another young lady looked after us without fault the whole evening. Informative, engaging, educated on everything to do with food and drink. The whole evening was exceptional well done everyone from the chef to front of house definitely return and recommend.

Very welcoming, friendly staff. Elegant decor. Lovely lunch with friends, a real treat and Chef himself came out to check we were happy with everything. (Which we were!)

Junto con el restaurante, elaboramos un menú que se adapta a todos, a pesar de que existen muchos requisitos dietéticos. No podrían haber sido más serviciales o complacientes ayudándome a organizar la cena sorpresa. El personal que nos atendió en la noche fue muy amable y profesional, muchas gracias a todos ellos. No dudaría en recomendar Chardon D'or, especialmente para una ocasión especial. ¡Solo espero que podamos volver pronto!

Mi esposo y yo hemos visitado muchos restaurantes de alta cocina en el Reino Unido y en el extranjero, pero como vegetariano mis opciones son a menudo limitadas. La comida principal que tuve en este restaurante fue excelente. Su helado casero también es excelente. Volveré cuando sea el próximo en Glasgow.

Used Itison voucher for 4 course meal with Prosecco and coffee for 2 for £59 which was excellent value. Menu bit more limited than a la Carte but you get what you pay for. Duck amuse Bouche was tough - husband complained and to be fair they gave us another veggie amuse bouche to make up. Terrine was nice and steaks cooked well. Good creme brûlée. Would have felt overpriced on main menu as although very nice was not the fine dining experience and finesse of say Martin Wishart or Tom Kitchin.

Not been here in years, but recently enjoyed a very nice lunch at an equaly nice price.

Can only apologise for not writing this sooner. Husband and I were going to Glasgow for War of the Worlds and for the second night we booked dinner here. The location was great, interior decor had a lovely charm and the staff could not be more welcoming. It was obvious that the team are just that, starting with front of house through to those who waited on the table. They could describe and speak with knowledge and ease about the food and nothing which came to the table disappointed. My husband took recommendations on the wine and cheeseboard, both of which he was very happy about. It is worth a trip to Glasgow just to eat here.

What an amazing afternoon! This is not just a girls day out with cocktails and food. This is a cocktail and dining experience. Totally exceeded what I was expecting.

I’m always surprised that Glasgow lacks any true fine dining (Michelin starred) places to eat. Where to go for a special family dinner? We chose Brian Maule based on word of mouth, and overall the impression was good.

Wonderful evening here with friends! We used a voucher and experienced superb food and service The deal , four courses and a Prosecco cocktail was excellent value. The manager, I think, mixed the ladies a Negroni - wonderful. Hope to return after our holiday.

What a wonderful dining experience, the food was absolutely exquisite!! Wide variety of drinks and cocktails on offer. Staff were, without a doubt attentive and professional and the restaurant beautiful. Was there with friends, (1 gluten free, 1 vegetarian) for a meal what we received was a complete, fine dining, experience all round. We'll now be making this a regular occurrence! Upscale restaurant on West Regent Street with nice decor and ambience. Staff were friendly but our wait staff needed a bit more training - gave the men menus before the ladies; dribbled wine while pouring; did not come back to ask if our food was OK; did not know that the name of the restaurant meant “Golden Thistle”.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here on Saturday 8 June and had a wonderful meal. We’ve eaten here many times before and always choose it for special occasions. The a la Carte menu is just divine. I can especially recommend the sirloin and Tarte Tatin. My husband thinks that cheese is a proper dessert, I can’t agree, but he said it was one of the best cheese boards he’s ever had. Service was impeccable and atmosphere just right. Thanks again for another amazing dinner!

ate here last night using a voucher for a limited menu choice...nothing limited about the menu, the choices for all courses were excellent! the service was first class as always and the food was superb, in particular the medallion of beef just melted in your mouth and my husband's sea bream fillets were plump and the skin crispy and tasty.. lovely ambience and surroundings and all around a great experience... definitely the number 1 quality restaurant in the city and has been for many years.... long may it remain

The service was ok but very impersonal and sterile which was disappointing, we did not feel overly welcome or relaxed. It was my wife’s 60th Birthday and I has previously asked if they could do something but apparently they don’t do that.... Whilst I appreciate that, it wouldn’t have killed you to just wish her a Happy Birthday.

What a super second visit to this amazing restaurant - unbelievably ‘fine dining’ with such an imaginative Menu of beautifully prepared dishes using the finest ingredients.

This restaurant already came highly recommended however we didn't know exactly how exceptional it was.

We visited with friends from the USA who enjoy fine dining and they loved the whole evening,the ambience,the decor,the service and especially the food.

Ate here recently and was very impressed with the service, food, ambiance. We really enjoyed it and shall be back. Can thoroughly recommend the scallops - they were sublime.

Well another great place to eat in Glasgow , we visited with friends , my wife has been a few times and loved it.

My husband and I visited on a Saturday afternoon as his birthday treat and we definitely were not disappointed. The lunch menu is clearly a good choice for budget but as it was a treat for us we opted for the celebration menu. So glad we did and even when I asked to swap out the scallops this wasn’t a problem and I was served a goats cheese dish in place of this. The portion sizes throughout were just perfect to ensure we could enjoy all six dishes comfortably. We opted for a bottle of Viognier to start our meal and enjoyed this with the first 4 courses then treated ourselves to a lovely half bottle of tasty St Emilion, all the loveliest bottles of red are in half sizes. This delicious wine was decanted for us and served attentively, with a £35 price tag it isn’t going to be left to chance I suppose. The chat from the mature d’ was very comfortable and added to our experience. My only issue.....can’t believe it’s taken me so long to find Chardon d’Or!

This is hands down the best meal I have ever had in my life. Wine is also sensational. This place is a must for anyone who appreciates the best of the best food. Place do not give this place a miss. Absolutely exquisite from start to finish. Staff are also wonderful.

Invited along to a monthly business lunch with a group of around 20 friends / businessmen. We were in a private dining room and the chef Brian Maule came out to sit with the guests and to even joined us for lunch after giving a detailed and informative description of the menu and the cooking process which gave a fascinating insight to the restaurant trade. After his presentation the maitre'd discussed the various wine s that were to accompany the various course, their origins and again was extremely interesting. The food was superb and accompanied by various wines that beautifully matched the menu and individual course. Staff were all great too. A very enjoyable lunch experience that has made me wonder why we've never dined here separately.

Great lunch at Brian Maule’s restaurant on Saturday with our 16 year old son to celebrate our wedding anniversary, the meal was brilliant, as was the service and atmosphere. We did see Brian visible in the restaurant, however he didn’t approach our table, maybe when we visit again for the Gin/Cocktail event we’ll be lucky enough to thank him in person for a delicious meal!

Excellent experience start to finish. Pretty setting - quiet and inviting - not loud like so many competitors. Outstanding seafood and steaks - everyone in party loved their selections! Strong wine list - attentive service - everything you want in a great Fine Dining experience. Check this one out for sure!

I travel constantly with work, and while I find top class restaurants that are fussier than this, I have yet to find one better! The food, the ambiance, the staff, not to mention the owner in the kitchen coming out at the end f the evening to sincerely engage with his diners - I just can’t think of anywhere I have been and found a better restaurant . Brilliant!

It had been a couple of years since my wife and I had been to Chardon d’Or. Our previous experience had been marred by the tables being so close together we could just as easily have had a conversation with the adjacent couple but Brian Maule was still a name to conjure with on the Glasgow food scene so we reckoned it was time to re-visit.

Went on a soggy Saturday to sample the delights of this Restaurant with high hopes, only to be disappointed, at best the food was ok not the standard I was expecting. Starter amuse-bouche was a tiny bite sized pieces of smoked salmon, slice of pickled cucumber and little greenery..nice enough, pate to follow with some greenery again and a ju with choice of roll again, nice enough. Main for myself was stewed beef, my better half having medallions of beef, both served with a little green beans and shredded potato, all looking nice enough until we tried the potato only to find it tasted like macaroni! not a good compliment with our beef, very strange. On seeing we both left the potato, the waitress asked if everything was ok, we asked if there was cheese in the potato to which she answered it was cream cheese, we told her it was not to our liking with the beef, which again was just ok mine being in my opinion not a particularly good cut of meat (Butchers daughter talking now!) Sweet was for myself a crème brulé, nice enough and a duo of sorbet, 2 small spoons each of maybe strawberry and vanilla? for my husband.

Four of us went. Wife and friends are real foodies so they were really looking forward to it. And it was all very nice. Pleasant staff. Speedy service. Nice enough food. We only had two courses as the desserts were quite “plain” in their offering but still over £10 each. Treacle tart. Creme brûlée. Ice cream etc. Anyway I had crevettes (prawns) and haddock and lamb to follow and it tasted very nice and was pleasant to look at. £166 for food for four. £90+ for drinks. I’ve had just as nice food but not always paid as much. When you’re paying around £30 for a main course you expect more. But it was all very pleasant.

The food was good the atmosphere lacking. Whatever music was playing was was drowned out but the almost canteenlike noise. Food arrived at a pace and felt a little like being on a conveyer belt. Whilst the food was tasty there was nothing new or innovative. The matching wines were good, the staff pleasant but as a “celebration” menu this is nothing to write home about. Unfortunately we probably won’t return May better restaurants in the city.

Second time We have been here and the food is absolutely superb!! Only Disappointment was Brian came in to the restaurant and never spoke to me?? ( Only Joking ) Will definitely be back!!

My partner and I attended the restaurant on a Saturday night. Was very impressed with how attentive all members of staff were. This was matched by some extremely well presented food which tasted as good as it looked. Will return very soon.

My daughter and I had the 6 course lunch which was lovely .it was an itison and is a taster menu so small portions but we ended up very full .The staff were very attentive but not hovering as is the case in some restaurants. The food was delicious and very flavoursome.would highly recommend

I last reviewed Chardon d'Or six years ago although we have been annual visitors since then and since it opened.The standard is still excellent. We opted for the three course lunch at £25.50 with wine at £24.50. Add ons brought the bill to circa £100. The mains of lamb and gurnard were outstanding. Still a classy place.

Service was somewhat patchy. We were sat down and then ignored for quite a while. Eventually, after much twiddly of thumbs, it arrived. Taking our order was quite swift, which is good Then a long wait for the bread and butter. Within seconds of that arriving, our starter arrived. Eh? The starter was good to OK-ish. Mine was fine, my dining companion's was altogether very brown in the presentation. Some green garnish would have lightened and cheered up the plate. My main was a huge disappointment - it was over-seasoned (did the chef forget that chorizo is already salty?) and the fish was overcooked. We won't be back.

Food was good. Service was good. Apart from needing to remind them about our drinks after waiting 10 minutes. Expected something a bit special, but all in all it was good but the sort of good you can get elsewhere for a lot less ££. Still, recommended even if for the one time. Outside needs a bit of a tidy up - tired looking.

My friend and I had a fabulous 4 course lunch here today, The food was all presented beautifully and so tasty. The staff were wonderful and professional. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Dinner on a very busy Friday night,service was excellent even though it was coping with over 100 covers.The food was first class and the wine list while not extensive had something to suit most palates.

Visité en el mes de febrero con mi clase universitaria para una comida de 3 platos de almuerzo como parte de nuestro curso. Para mi primer plato tuve la sopa de papa y puerro, para mi plato principal tuve el pollo supremo y para el postre tuve el pudín de toffee pegajoso que estaba todo delicioso! El servicio que recibí fue excelente y el personal encantador. El personal siempre se aseguró de que no se quedara sin agua ni bebidas, siempre se aseguró de que todo estuviera bien, en general, ¡disfruté de la experiencia! No podría recomendar el restaurante más! Realmente me gustaría volver pronto.

amazing atmosphere and food was great, staff were friendly. i had the vegiatarian menu which was perfect for me and i would recommend it to everyone.

The atmosphere at the restaurant is brillan and welcoming. The staff greeted us at the door with respect, the meal was outstanding and delicious.

Durante su visita a Brian Maule tenía un gran ambiente acogedor y profesional. La comida fue excelente tuve la fuga y sopa de patata para un aperitivo que era muy sabroso. Para un plato principal tuve el supremo de pollo que era una toma tan interesante de pollo que era encantador. Para el desierto tuve el helado y el sorbete que era un buen limpiador de paletas después de una comida tan sabrosa. El servicio también fue excepcional. Recomiendo encarecidamente visitar Brian Maule si tienes la oportunidad.

Qué experiencia tan increíble. Nuestro almuerzo fue impecable. Optamos por el menú del almuerzo y cada plato se presentó bien y todo estaba delicioso.

We visited Brian Maule at Charddon d'Or on Thursday the 17th February for a 3 course meal. I choose the potato and leek soup which was amazing, all the flavours together was like a burst of explosion. For my main i had the Supreme of Chicken which was lovely. The chicken was probably the tastiest Bit of chicken i have ever tasted. Then for desert i have the sticky toffee pudding. I am not a really big fan of dates but i couldn't taste them at all which was a plus. The presentation was immaculate and was presented to a high standard. it is defiantly value for money. I would defiantly visit it again.
