The first time for coffee, which was very pleasant, but the black pudding in a roll ( I prefer it wit no butter) was sublime. So I visited again and repeated the experience.Friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere, despite it being a little small. Many locals coming on for take outs, and many regulars as well.Thank you for your friendly welcome and delicious black pudding.Freshly prepared to order.

Realmente disfruté de mi visita aquí. El menú era interesante y tenía algunas opciones en lo que se podría esperar cuando entras (curry del día, junto con sándwiches discontinuas ramen). The cafe on the route from Central Station was full as it usually is so dropped in for coffee at the restaurant round the corner that also closes around 5pm. Not many tables in this long thin shape which is a little dark and featureless. Coffee was very good and it's a place where you can sit and chat. Quick service and attentive waiter.

I've been to both the cafe and the restaurant. The cafe is facing central station and the restaurant any is round the corner. The cafe do great coffee and a huge range of generous cakes which include several gluten free options. I've only been to the restaurant any for brunch but can recommend the Indian spiced breakfast pancake. Staff are friendly and service is good but sometimes very slow during peak times. Can get very busy as limited seating and in a busy area so would recommend booking the restaurant in advance. The cafe is slightly awkward in that the toilets are in the restaurant which involves leaving and going round but overall very good.

Walked in for breakfast today and was promptly seated. Little on the small side...cozy you could say if the place was full (we got lucky and it was between busyness). Not too many choices on the menu, but enough to satisfy different people's tastes. We elected to have the special pancakes of the day (Nutella cheesecake), French toast with maple & bacon, and beverages (americano, cappuccino, & lemonade). The pancake presentation was cute; kept warm due to the skillet. Family said it was good, but would've been better with more Nutella...couldn't really taste it. The French toast was cooked right. Now the bacon...the BEST we've had since living in the U.K. It was the right thickness and the right amount of crunchiness; good quality (this is a big deal if you are used to bacon in the states). Food was filling. Service was great; friendly and efficient. Nice to have a sit-down meal and not take 2hrs. Would recommend you start your day here

I have a passion for rose, raspberry, and pistachio together so was amazed to find that Riverhill serve tapioca porridge with exactly those flavours. I was unsure about the tapioca but in fact found the whole thing quite gorgeous. I'd also spotted a naan bread stuffed with salmon, avocado, cream cheese and coriander so I ordered one of those as well. It was £5 but enormous, with the salmon falling out. So I ate half and they wrapped the remainder for me to eat for lunch. The menu caters for meaties, veggies, and vegans and I found it very difficult to make a decision. If I return to Glasgow I'll go straight back!

After a long train journey with my mum and 6 year old daughter, we decided to go here for coffee and cake as it had been recommended to us. After finding a seat a waitress came over to take our order. We asked what cakes they had available to which her abrupt response was 'you just want coffee and cake? We're only serving food today, you should have been told that because we're rushed off our feet' (this was at 3.30pm which seems an odd time to not be willing to serve coffee in a cafe/bar. When we told her we hadn't been told that at all (a man had already been over to clear and wipe the table), she went and asked the man who seated us who told her he had forgotten to tell us. Still, we were asked to leave, with my 6 year old daughter getting rather upset. The whole experience was thoroughly embarrassing and unprofessional. When we left the cafe there was no queue and two empty tables. We went up the road to Patisserie Valerie who were lovely and more than accommodating!

Sunday morning, it's all the streets you've crossed not so long ago. A myriad of Glasgow's city centre lanes and back streets. Looking for somewhere for breakfast. Then if you're observant you'll find this tiny bolt hole. Blue frontage, narrow entrance. Long narrow room with seats and tables up one side. Tightly packed together. Youngish modish staff are efficient and will recommend the day's specials (pancake toppings, types of eggs…). I ordered orange juice (really orangey. With pithy bits) and full Scottish breakfast. It came soon: two little herby sausages, pile of crisp smoked bacon, two soft fried eggs, tomatoes, field mushroom, black pudding, tattie scone, a little dish of baked beans. Quality ingredients. Reasonably priced. Almost all good; just the cramped, claustrophobic feeling faults it slightly. But some people enjoy that up close and cosy eating experiences with strangers.

Riverhill has a Cafe in W Nile St plus a takeaway in Gordon St. We enjoyed a delicious lunch in the former followed by breakfast on three consecutive days in the takeaway (which actually has nine or so stools along the window/wall). Riverhill serve lovely strong decaf and "normal" coffee, their delicious sausages are supplied by the Puddledub farm. Being served four links or two thick slices of Lorne in a roll is strange concept for people used to 1/2 these portions in Aberdeen! The takeaway is a very busy, compact premises. We would have been more comfortable round the corner, but the takeaway suited our needs. We only had one lunch at Riverhill as we spent most of our days out of the city centre, but the charred sweet corn and Chorizo Mac 'n' Cheese was delicious and a good omen for planning future visits. The Riverhill is an independent establishment who's staff are all very welcoming and pleasant, we'll certainly be back next year (for Celtic Connections 18) to enjoy breakfast (and maybe a lunch or two) at Riverhill.

A bit hard to find (next door to Costa Coffee) and could be missed, sure most of the business is word of mouth. The kids and I had a long day ahead & wanted to get into Glasgow early to get parked & avoid Christmas traffic. We visited River hill at around 1030.Staff were very welcoming and we were weaved quickly even though they were busy. Number 1 son chose porridge and banana. It looked lovely, not stodgy. His only complaint was that it needed more banana, otherwise the portion was substantial as he left a little, saying he was full. Number 2 Son had French Toast with Bacon & Maple syrup. The bacon was just as he liked it and again the portion was substantial so he left a tiny bit that I subsequently hoovered up, for quality control of course!I ordered the Shakshuka with spicy lamb, disappointingly the lamb wasn't available so I accepted chicken. The dish came in a hit skillet with 2 eggs, a generous dollop of soured cream and a freshly made flat bread on the side. It was epic and I practically scraped the plate. We all loved the food and can't wait to go back and try out something else. They do daily specials so be sure to check out the blackboard. In this wonderful city for a wedding. Didn't want to stay bound to the hotel and ventured out. We found Riverhill Restaurant and had a wonderful breakfast...Friendly and helpful staff too.

Happened upon this wee gem late in the afternoon. Totally blown away. Great cocktails. I had one made with Siracha. Also had pumpkin tortellini with Gorgonzola...Amazing!

All you need under one roof. Great food with friendly and great staff. If going for breakfast the traditional looked excellent but try something different especially the Skillets. I like finding places like this. We took some friends who said they wouldn't look at a small place like this as they are not adventurous. We have now changed their views as they thought it was just fantastic. If you are going please ring and book so you won't be disappointed. We will be back.

Don't blink as you might miss this truly wonderful little place.Their friendly service and well thought out menu make this place note worthy. My wife had rabbit and she couldn't stop raving about it. Hers:Rabbit gnocchi, courgettes and broadbeans, grilled Ragstone cheese, truffle butter, linseed crisp... £13.50 I had and didn't want to share: Goat bhuna, roasted summer vegetables, spiced rice, poori, deep fried egg, kasundi, toasted almonds, pomegranate..£16.50 to share £28.00 DELICIOUS Dessert: Chocolate or salt caramel fondue with bits and pieces to dip.. £12.00The place is small and the rewards for going are immense. Not a place for a big group so take a romantic moment and enjoy time with someone you're invested in.

Stopped for a quick lunch before catching a train. We had delicious soup (lentil and bacon) and half sandwich option and creamy mushrooms on toast. Tasty, fresh, well-prepared. Service was attentive and pleasant (helpfully offered to stow our cases out of the way) and relaxed lunch atmosphere. Strongly recommend. Wish I'd bought something to take home from the Riverhill cafe/ takeaway round the corner.

Had a Lazy Sunday morning breakfast here and we were served great filter coffee and food. We all had different choice from French toast to porridge and all were equally good. Service was excellent. Greta atmosphere and place was buzzing with a constant stream of customers some of whom seemed to be regulars judging by the welcome they received. All food was freshly prepared so if you are looking for fast food go elsewhere. We will certainly be back to try for lunch or dinner on our next visit.

Popped in for a bit of lunch and what a find! Had the option of breakfast or lunch menu all three of us opted for the lunch menu which contained some truly epic looking sandwiches. Feeling very hungry i opted for the Dagwood (on Ciabatta) with a side of fries and it certainly did the job (although I would perhaps avoid it if you don't have a big mouth). Staff were very attentive and professional when presenting the menu and advice on choices. Both my fellow diners very much enjoyed their choices (Philly Cheese Steak and Chicken Shawarama). We even stayed for an unplanned puddingHighly recommend this place and due to the fact it was full for the duration of our visit I would say I am not the only one

My wife and I came here with our 4 month old son for a bit of Brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Even though the restaurant was packed the staff were very accommodating. None of the sandwiches took our fancy but the brunch options were very good and reasonably priced; ranging from traditional Scottish breakfasts to more exotic international dishes. I opted for the Shashuka & my wife went for the potato pancake wrap with bacon. The Shashuka was excellent with lovely runny yolks, topped with spicy chicken & plenty of flatbread on a piping hot skillet. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her wrap although she could have eaten it all again! We finished off our meal with an excellent coffee (same high standard of flat white as the coffee bar around the corner) and a rich chocolate and raspberry brownie. There was some great looking beer on tap at the bar (although it was a bit too early to sample a pint). The only downside is that the restaurant was quite warm and lacked ventilation, but we were informed by the waiter that they were considering having concertina windows to open out into the street, which would be a great addition in future, as the view is fantastic and good for people watching!

Arrived in Glasgow late afternoon from the Highlands. Having checked into the hotel we went for a stroll around the city centre, and by about 6.30 were getting hungry. First couple of places we tried were full of office groups, it was Friday evening at the start of the bank holiday weekend. Thanks to the TA app "near me" function we found Riverhill, although walked past it twice, it doesn't have an obvious street front "presence." From welcoming & knowledgeable staff, to a fairly short but innovative menu, good flavourful cooking and attractive presentation, the next almost 2 hours passed by most pleasantly. Can particularly recommend the wife's rabbit gnocchi and my onglet steak - sirloin now old hat for me after that - washed down with a carafe of good house red. Why don't more restaurants offer carafes? There are times when a glass of wine isn't enough and a bottle too much. This was one of those. Top of the list for future trips to Glasgow.

Wishing a hearty start to a long day at the Edinburgh Fringe we booked in for a Sunday breakfast. Saturday evening I was 'phoned with an apology that owing to a plumber visiting they had to close service early morning. How decent to go to the bother of letting me know.Anyway, still wishing to visit we rolled up early Monday and explained that we were a day late - impressed that our cheery waiter knew our name as it was himself who had 'phoned us.Glad to find that the food was as excellent and eclectic as we had expected -huevos rancheros stunning - I'll go for the stuffed naan next time.A totally unnecessary but welcome touch was to be informed that: 'breakfast is on us'. Thank you Riverhill Glasgow - I'll spread the word.

We had the Christmas Dine at Home by BM. It was absolutely fantastic and loads of great well cooked and fresh ingredients. The instructions were perfect and the Beef Wellington was superb. During this pandemic our Christmas Dinner helped us forget it for a few hours. Once again very highly recommended.
