Cheswold Lodge Brewers Fayre in Doncaster

Went on a Thursday lunchtime. Not busy. Staff (Amy and Lee) helpful and attentive. Food good and brilliant value.

Everytime I visit Cheswolds Doncaster always a pleasant visit. Lovely staff especially Sally. Lovely atmosphere and food. Would recommend

We celebrate my nannans birthday here every year, the lovely staff put banners out and had birthday napkins on the tables for her this year and it made it that bit more special, thank you Sally and Amy 🙂

My grandson had his 7th birthday party at Cheswold, Doncaster, he only had 6friends coming so we couldn’t book a party, I bought all 7 children a meal and pudding from the menu plus drinks. The lady in charge of the soft play area, Sally, couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly, she went out of her way to make sure the children had fun and helped when the food was served. The children’s menu was fantastic value for many and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Staff unfriendly and ignored when entered. Not even acknowledged to say hello be with you shortly. Food substandard. Sirloin steak full of fat. Green tomato Overcooked grease onion rings And chips that looked grey. Not impressed not even asked if the food was ok. Left it I’d rather go without. Never again

Love this place. The food is decent for a chain, however it more than makes up for it with the staff. They are lovely- especially Sally G who always goes out of her way to make sure you’re ok. She doesn’t stop! Wish my staff were all like her!

UPDATE: 17 Jan 2025. Been a while, so back to revisit. Had the midweek offer of £3 starter and £5 main. Food good and tasty. Staff doing their best as looked short on numbers. Upgraded stars from last visit 👍 UPDATE: My wife discovered a few days later, after checking her credit card, that they had debited her card for the partial refund they should have provided. So they took yet more money, rather than refunding!! We had a couple mixed grill meals yesterday. Had a 40% off voucher. When my wife returned, she found she had been overcharged by around £5. She went back to the bar to advise, and they worked out a refund for her, and said they did not know why the till had overcharged. When she came back, I worked out they had still overcharged by about 80p, but could not be bothered to go back again. On the plus side, the food was tasty!

Didn't have the only dish we wanted.how can you run out of fish before 14.30 . Will not be rushing back.

Entering the pub, it was cold. With it being minus temperature outside, it wasn't very warm inside. The food was okay. The burgers were good flame grilled. The smothered platter was nice. Some meats little on the small side. Steak cooked good. The chips were good, as was the fish and chips meal. The kids have a good variety of options, from little to big kids menus. Indoor play area attached for the kids. Overall, decent chain pub grub. I would go back again.

Good premier inn breakfast as usual.

Depends on the staff who are on. The senior management were working Christmas day breakfast. No greeting. No tables laid. No explanation of the system. Next day complete opposite from the team who were on. Really good.

This Lady Sally G who served our food is the most polite person I have had served our family, she couldn't do enough for us she isn't just like this with me I hear her with all customers keep up the good work Sally Mr and Mrs Vickers 👏

Delicious food and great service from all. Very clean surroundings, it's great for kids (there's a play area) and nothing is too much trouble.

Went for lunch but didn't end up eating here as the wait for food was 45 minutes upwards even though there wasnt many customers. I waited in the queue to order for nearly 15 minutes as there was just 1 person behind the bar. There were no staff around and all the tables were dirty with no-one clearing them. The 1 member of staff i saw was telling a customer she was finishing her shift so it's someone else's problem so clearly not a happy ship being run. We didn't bother even ordering a drink and just went elsewhere.

Lovely staff, one of the best carveries I've had in a long time! Well worth going! There is a play area for the kids, and the kids loved it.

internet is bad. people are slow. fire place is offputting. sticky tables. got a coldsour of the glasses .toilets dirty.

Great breakfast on Xmas eve Kids were handed a colouring book/ pack to keep them entertained also while having breakfast from sally- a nice touch thank you

Went for breakfast today very poor had to wait 20 minutes for food to be fetched out, then was telled the bar would not open till 12 o'clock that's not applicable.

Called in to use the play area and grab some lunch. All very clean and staff welcoming. Food was good for a quick lunch and value for money.

We ordered an when meal came was totally different from what we ordered

I took 60 people from my setting. We pre organised this and the food too. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was fantastic and the students and staff all had a great time. It was lovely. We will be back again next year.

We came here for a treat for the kids as they have been doing so well at school. We decided to sit in the playarea part. It was clean, Sally was great she helped us and she was very friendly the food was fast and hot when it came. I would defo recommend this place to anyone. The kids loved it too. Thank you for making there treat even more special. Sally you are amazing keep doing what you are doing and never changed. X

Breakfast good Had a steak tonight, prepared blue by Dave. One of the best steaks I've had in a long lime. Absolutely banging. All the staff are lovely.

We went to have food and our children to play sally G was so kind and couldn’t do enough for us, went above and beyond all the time we was there, also brilliant with our children

There were 19 of us for a Christmas Party. Food was served that was reheated in a microwave. Steaks were cold. One plate went back twice and in the end it was refunded so that the person eating had no food. Won’t be going back again!!

Hi all our experience was horrid we came as a giant group of 19 and had a bad experience we all were unhappy about it since we had four of our food sent back, missing bits of food which they had in and was missing a prawn cocktail for 20mins but as all places have they will have an excuse so for the prawn cocktail they said they forgot and will get to it soon , 2 friends steaks were cold and one also burnt and the just cold one they said a rare steak is always cold but she ordered a medium and it should be warm at least so it's a loss loss for everyone.

Really poor service, not dew the staff but down to the management having limited staff on a busy night. Our group had to wait over an hour for the first starter to arrive, nearly an hour and a half for the main meal and two hours for the puddings.

We brought the kids into let off some steam in the play area and I have to say the lady running that area was absolutely amazing, literally nothing was too much trouble. She literally went above and beyond. She was happy and friendly, got to know my kids and offered crayons and activity sheets, balloons and crayons to both my children. This woman is amazing, she made my kids day!!!! We will definitely be returning!! Her name was Sally E. This woman needs a rise!! 10/10

Amy and the other staff are just wonderful. Thank you all and especially Amy who did a great job decorating the table and gifts to my wife IRENE celebrating her 71 birthday. 12 people enjoyed the food which was tasty and well served ( 10 out of 10 to the chef )

Lovely food and well priced. The staff were very friendly and it was very clean

Came here with my partner and child and she had the hunters chicken which was not as advertised it is meant to be a chicken breast but she got a burnt chargrill. My daughter had kids pasta and pasta was over cooked. I ordered the double stack burger which I sent back because it was brunt and tasted like i was picking a bbq. They sent me another one which was the same I actually spat it out and all the offered was to refund my dessert of 1.50 the service and food horrible. Dessert came out a different times we got 2 and the 3rd one came out 20 minutes later after I had to go up and ask where it was obviously they had forgotten it. We will never return.

Food was very good and a fair price service was good considering a local football match and a lot of football supporters dining there

Wonderful food cooked exactly as ordered. The staff were fantastic, they interacted with my disabled child in a way that was fully inclusive and made the whole experience one of the best we have had at a restaurant.

After a bit of a break from this pub as it had gone down hill it has really pulled it's socks up! The food was lovely and the service was quick and with a smile. Pleased we went back.

The staff member on shift on Monday 11th march at 5.30pm. In the play area, Was amazing. Helpful, friendly, informative. ..went above & beyond.. and also came running after us has my husband had left his phone. She was fabulous 👌

The Cheswold has provided a venue for the alzheimers society to hold a social get-together group. I am one of the volunteers who help out with the alzheimers society. I would like to thank the staff, including Lee, SallyG,Grace, and the chefs and kitchen staff, for the excellent service provided today. It's brilliant to see a local pub/restaurant supporting the alzheimers society in this local community. All of our client group, their carers, and family appreciate these groups and enjoy getting together, and so a venue like this is ideal, so they can have a meal too if they wish along with the beverages available. It's so rewarding as a volunteer seeing them get so much enjoyment out of their visit to the pub. All the volunteers thank you for your hard work in ensuring all our needs were catered for at today's event. We look forward to our next visit.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Awesome value for money and food was beautiful. Heather and staff were very helpful. Nice family atmosphere. Would definitely recommend 👌

Was a clean friendly place, food looked great. Staff were friendly. Always cleaning tables n stuff.

Turned up at 4.30pm carvery advertised 12-6pm. Food that was available once we got our serving of meat at 4.45pm. Plated up and enjoyed the food. 10 minutes later went back up for some veg and potatoes and the lights were turned off before 5pm and the food was taken away. After hearing some staff talking about their turkey sandwiches and left overs I managed to get another plate of mash, swede and politely got asked if I wanted some more peas. I then said to the staff member the lads I'm with want some more il tell them to come up and get some. 5 minutes later it was all gone. Our friend wasn't happy about this so went up and asked why the carvery had closed 1 hour earlier than advertised they fed him everything but the carvery. They told him it had all gone and there was only vegetables left, someone went and got him a plate of mash, swede, carrots (that weren't even out on the original carvery????) peas and gravy and stuffing balls and to which my friend replied where did you get this from if it was all gone and scraps left. Also didn't realise they served mac and cheese instead of cauliflower cheese on a carvery?? Chef just froze and one staff member apologised. Anyway hope the staff enjoy their turkey sandwiches!

When did staff stop wearing smart uniforms? Tables were sticky, we tried 3. Drinks were nice

Visited for my granddaughters birthday (15/08). Sat in the children's play area, good atmosphere but music was very loud. Food was ordered, quite a lot of it. Unfortunately it wasn't worth the wait. My daughter had the mixed grill, but only a 4oz steak not 8 like she ordered. Took so long for them to check and refund that her meal was cold, no offer to reheat or replace. Food was greasy and warm. Hairs on cutlery and plate, dry chicken, chipped crockery, disgusting egg!!! We complained to the manageress and she said that we needed to complain to head office. Staff were very un helpful. We all suffered upset stomachs for next few days. My daughter ended up with food poisoning resulting in a very unpleasant trip to A&E. (The staff at the hospital need a medal) Definitely spoiled our day out!!! I can honestly say we will not be back!

A little late on this review. Ordered mixed grill and asked for the steak to be well done, came out rare and the size was as big as a can of beans top. The chicken was equally small and looked like it was given to someone else before me. Burnt sausages and I asked for no peas, yet I received them. When questioned they was dumbfounded. People getting food before us yet we ordered before them. 6 of them 2 of us.

Came here with my daughter and her friend for food and play Food was spot on can't fault it and the lady looking after the play area was amazing with the children and very helpful she is definitely an asset to your company 5× isn't enough for her she goes above and beyond with every one I seen her interact with every on in the I asked for her name so guys look out for her name is Sally g Well done and thankyou for making our experience one to remember we will definitely be dropping in again Also value for money coffee and play £5.50 with as much coffee as you like bouns

Very nice food and friendly polite staff

This place is quite different to normal brewers fayres / beefeaters. For breakfast you have to order by means of writing how much of something you want on a slip and handing it to the bar. The food was ok - wasn't waiting too long, the atmosphere was not so, as there was hardly anyone there (i think this is because there is a beefeater on the other side of the lake). Only one member of the restaurant staff was on, but this didn't really affect the service. Would come here again.

Convenient for the location next to the Premier Inn but wouldn't be somewhere I'd choose to visit.

Nice place, nice staff, good for the kids but the food was poor

Super manager and staff. Immediately asked if we had any allergies or dietary requirements. Exceptionally clean in main areas and ladies toilets. Food came out in good time, sirloin steak and salad first class, drinks cold and sparkling. Waiting staff cleared table quickly and asked if we wanted anything else. All in all a great visit. Well done Cheswold !

Went at lunchtime midweek. Food was OK and the price was cheap. However the place is looking really tired and in need of a major refit. Tables were scratched and some seats were split. Not a place to inspire you to keep going back.

We had a fantastic evening meal here. Offer 2 meals for £11.49 which is great value. The food was nice and hot and we were served by Sally G who was very welcoming. We look forward to visiting again 👍

Staff friendly, service good and liked the atmosphere of the pub. I had gammon steak and partner had fish and chips, both very good. Spiced apple and blackberry crumble was delicious. Lovely meal.

i had pie chips and peas for my evening meal. i paid over £11 for it the pie was hard and had hardly any meat in it .there were 18 chips and peas were hard .i am not one for complaining. but me and my 2 friends will never come back again

The young guy in the play area soo soo accommodating a young girl put money on grabber machine she was there for 45mins and he came over to advise how to grab very friendly would recommend 200% food too was delicious

Called in 13th july after work for a couple of drinks n a meal, table we got was near the men's toilets, we had to move got a really strong smell of urine, put us off eating, finished our drink n left. Use to be a lovely local pub, but these last few years it's really gone down hill

Very long waiting for two burgers

Not been here for a long time but we enjoyed it. The salads very fresh and gorgeous with plenty of cheese 😋 lovely avocado, coleslaw was crunchy and everything tasted delicious 😋 Service was very welcoming & friendly 😄 Very quiet as a week day which was great 👍

Well I have to be honest we used to frequently visit here for meals but haven't been for a long while,put off quite abit with the bad publicity it was getting. Well today we came back to try again and I can't recommend it highly enough,everything was absolutely spot on from the minute we walked through the door,don't listen to rumours try for yourself. Will definitely be going back😊😋

The worse pub close to me, Food rubbish and getting a beer while I've been waiting 10 minutes and someone else who just got to the bar served first.. No more visits here

States it is open until 11pm, but got here just after 10pm on a Wednesdsy and it is closed.

Great place to meet up for a drink with friends

Booked table for 11 people, on phone asked to be near kiddy play area , upon arrival at 6 30 pm , told kiddy bit was closed and was seated other side of pub , table for 6 !!!! Was a tight squeeze, asked 4 times for colours and drawings paper for the kiddies , food average, service at tills very slow, time for food coming out was very slow and the pub was quiet , definitely more staff needed on , needs improvement on customer services and on booking a table for 11 people a table to sit us all , won't be returning

Had a lovely weekday lunch today…each meal was cooked to perfection, and the menu had a great selection to suit all tastes. Sally and Mel couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. The toddlers soft play area was clean and tidy & enjoyed by Tabitha the two year old. Overall an extremely enjoyable experience. Will definitely recommend and return!

Lovely staff, great company, good Coors.

Most meals had faults, burnt lasagne steak full of gristle and burger full of burger sauce instead of bbq sauce as advertised. Waited 45 minutes for deserts but berrie sundaes were awful. Frozen fruit and one had no berries, cherries instead. Cherries are not berries. When changed a dish of ice cream was sent, they said that was how they came. Won't be going again.

The food was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were very generous. Sally A was very friendly and attentive, especially with my 2 little ones and alerted us to the promotion on food 2 meals for. Very quick service.

Your average Brewers Fayre pub food, about edible but nothing at all special. Service has really gone downhill. The staff that are there are nice and helpful but there are never enough of them on, so overall service is often diabolical. Many of the draft beers are often off because there is nobody to change the barrel. There's never the right glass for the beer you choose. Always a huge pile of dirty glasses at the end of the bar etc etc. Visited on 21 July and the Easter displays are still up. Used to be a good place to go and we went regularly, but nowadays it's just convenient now and again.

The staff went above and beyond to make sure all 5 of us could eat with allergies, food intolerance and food preferences.

Staff were lovely, the patrons were garbage people

Tasty, good selection, especially of vegan and vegetarian options. Good value for money.
