A massive thanks to the team for making our birthday celebration fabulous - everyone had a great time and the buffet was fabulous!

I booked a table for 4, last weekend only to be given a table in the bar area, not the restaurant! Awful service, food below average ,when we asked for the desert menu, we were told the kitchen closed at 10 pm, no prior notice. This was a really awful and frankly (bearing in mind I had guests) embarrassing experience. Really dissatisfied, very, very poor.

Ideal place to do some work late on in the evening. Service was friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic service by Beri I believe our server was called. Polite, friendly and bubbly young lady who couldn’t have worked harder for us and many other tables on a busy night. Wonderful food and not a table free so very telling for a great place to eat! Thank you!

Sunday lunch should have been a healthy 4 but shortcomings and lack of management evident. Wife's 70th so it would have been nice if it had lived up to expectations but overall definitely disappointed. Good food served on cold plates not acceptable. One of the servers was really good and pleasant but the rest of the service was lacklustre at best. When I went to pay the £228.00 the guy taking the money could hardly be bothered, no pleasantries at all. Can't recommend it.

Loved my Cumberland Sausage and Mash. Portion just right! Loved it loved it loved it.

Overall a great experience. I love the atmosphere. However the brownie in my trio of desserts was so hard I could not cut it, seems it had been sitting around too long. Also my friends apple tart required a knife and she was only given a spoon

I am here on thr 31 st do cold in ghe restaurant i was planning to stay till 12 midnight must move. Why dont to chsrge £2 pound per customer for the rvening fot heating. Sorry you will do the same next year.

A Christmas Dinner to Remember I’ve just had the most incredible Christmas dinner at The Cock Pub, and I can’t stop raving about it. To be honest, I’m not even a fan of turkey, but they completely changed my mind. The turkey was beautifully cooked—juicy, full of flavour, and served with the most delicious gravy I’ve ever tasted. The entire meal was an absolute triumph: perfectly crispy roast potatoes, and Brussels sprouts done just right (yes, really!). The stuffing was packed with flavour, and the pigs in blankets were so moreish I had to stop myself from polishing off the lot. The atmosphere was the cherry on top—warm, festive, and inviting, with friendly staff who went above and beyond to make the evening special. It felt like Christmas at home, but with food so good it could rival any fine dining experience. If you’re after a Christmas dinner that’s truly next level, The Cock Pub is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back next year—and who knows, I might even start looking forward to turkey because of them! Well done Team Cock. 5/5 stars!

The food was delicious!! The staff are friendly & helpful & provide excellent service, even when really busy. I also like the ambience, the decor & the fact that there is a good amount of space between tables. Nice to be able to choose a seating area, too.

The food was excellent and they took good care of us as vegetarians. Service was a bit slow but it was the festive time and they were slammed. Millie was lovely and was great with us. Thank you Cock Inn for a great time.

Amazing festive food. We visited for Christmas and the 3 course meal was fabulous. Filling, tasty dishes and the vegan wellington was the star dish. Great for vegan restaurant. Excellent service by Millie and the team.

Good Xmas meal with good size portions and presentation. However, the lamb was a touch undercooked. Booked a table for 5 and there were 2 small tables put together of different heights and one chair stuck at the end. We were sat by a very busy walkway to kitchens etc whereby the chair stuck at the end, where my husband was sitting was constantly a walkway for staff carrying plates backwards and forwards making our Xmas lunch experience really uncomfortable. The chairs were soiled, lots of stains on them. When the food arrived, they just kind of placed the initial stater- Artisan bread, wherever they could see an empty table area. Getting attention from the team, was a bit of a struggle. We had to clear the table by moving the menus and clearing the Xmas crackers and mi I tree in order to make room for the stater dishes. I appreciate that it was a busy day but the staff were not friendly, no smile on their faces, no going out of their way to make customers feel welcomed on Xmas day. We were asked if the food was okay right towards the end of our meals. To that effect, we agreed to pay 5% and not 10% of service charge due to the experience. My apologies but I really wanted my Xmas meal experience to be good but sadly, that was not the case.

Food decent but terrible service. Had to keep asking to order. Plates not cleared before next course delivered. Drinks took forever to arrive. Heating not on despite being cold inside and out. Just a shrug of the shoulders when asked for radiators to be put on. Tables around littered with empty glasses and plates with no effort to clear away. Cask beer ran out and no new barrel put on. Last orders at 9.50pm! Would not return

Yesterday me and my family came for a meal. Food was nice but manager on shift yesterday evening was very antisocial and stood with his earphones in all night. A few times he walked past and I tried to get his attention to order and was completely ignored. Thankfully the service from everyone else was great. Was disappointed the coffe machine was turned off before 10pm on a Friday night. We’ve been in before and have been able to have hot drinks later than that to go with our desserts. I do love coming to this pub as the atmosphere is homely and we will be returning

Millie S was our waitress and she was really lovely. The service was very quick and she done her best at catering for Us.

No customer service very rude manager I overheard her telling a group of elderly men they had to move to another table as only allowed 2 hours they looked like they were have a reunion as they were in their late 60s put me right off this pub 😔

My husband and his six friends whom are mature men, they have a reunion every year and choose to meet at the Cock Inn, unfortunately this meeting was very unpleasant as the staff were very rude, they had a meal and had several rounds of drink, one staff member approached them and told them that they had to leave as the table was reserved for another party, when asked when was the table booked she said 10 minutes ago, although they were unhappy to move they moved to another table, after 40mins the original table was still empty, they went to get another round of drinks and was refused to be served. My husband and his friend are respectable and were neither rowdy or drunk. My husbands night with his friends was dampened after spending £300+ by the staffs aggressive treatment towards them. Sadly after 30 years the Cock Inn and their rude staff will be losing our custom.

The staff here were so rude it was unbelievable! Do not recommend! My dad had a reunion with a small group of his old school friends. They met up here for food and drinks which was great until an extremely rude member of staff came over, started wiping the table and said they had to leave the table before they’d even finished! No reservation sign was on the table and no one had mentioned a time limit. When they’d informed the waitress they hadn’t finished, she replied with “if you don’t leave the table, I’ll get someone to move you” - how aggressive! She then continued to say that if they didn’t cut their afternoon short, they wouldn’t be served anymore. How disgusting! A small group of friends aged 60+ can’t even enjoy a rare afternoon out together at this place without being met with aggression for no reason! Terrible experience.

Good food but a very slow and inattentive service; unfortunately they have no interest in customers.

We had a really lovely lunch. Food was lovely, environment clean and welcoming and the friendliest and most efficient of servers. Front and back of house both excellent, well done and thank you.

I visited the restaurant on a Thursday night with a friend and we enjoyed the festive menu. The food was impeccable perfectly served and tasted amazing best dinner so far ! I can’t think of one thing to fault it. Also the service was amazing Maisie was friendly polite and couldn’t do more for us but Richard in particular stood out! He went above and beyond for us and always does!

I meet a friend here for a catch up and lunch. Have known this place since I worked in cockfosters 50 years ago! The staff are always very pleasant and efficient. We love the food and the service - we are never hurried and we tell others about the place. Would definitely have got 5 stars but some of the chairs (cream ones) are very grubby and the toilet door can't be shut properly! Would benefit from a little bit of tlc but won't stop us from returning

We had a fabulous Christmas (long lunch) with our gang of friends at The Cock Inn yesterday. Our server was Leah who was charming, friendly and helpful throughout. Although we’ve eaten there many times before we all agreed the Christmas menu was really excellent. Super tasty and beautifully presented Chef Alin did a brilliant job.

I was running late for my group booking Christmas meal but when I arrived I was welcomed by staff and my meal was prepared to perfection. The venue was nice and clean and the environment nice and cosy 🙂.

We normally go for drinks there. It's difficult to find a pub which is welcoming and nice to locals nowadays but in Cockinn Staff are very friendly and proactive, we always enjoy being there.

Food good, Wine prices on menu different from what we were charged. Told that was the old menu. In that case it should not be on table. Booked at 1430 and was under the impression we had the table for 2 hours although after 90 minutes we where asked to move if we had finished eating. Understand there was a problem with the booking system but still not great. Staff were good and did there best during a very busy service.

A pleasant pub/restaurant with smart but sterile decor. The only cask ale was London Pride, but they did have keg craft ale. The menu had a good selection - the mushroom risotto and belly pork were good, but the banana blossom stew disappointing. Service was friendly, but inefficient. Despite the pub not being busy, we waited over 10 mins for our first drink, and had to chase up 3 times. We were therefore surprised to see a 10% service charge on the bill, particularly as we ordered our food and drinks at the bar. This was removed without dispute, but be warned to check for this if you visit. Overall, a pleasant enough place but not very good value, (but then again my friend says I'm tight).

Thank you to the chefs Alin, Damien, Dana. We liked the potatoes, veg, and pork particularly. It was good to have the option of extra gravy so it can be poured to taste. If I was being picky it was on the more expensive side of roasts I've had recently but I would come again!

Food has improved but service and decor etc still terrible. Great pity as I would go more often if the place was decorated- inside and outside- and the service staff were trained and supervised. Compared to The Orange Tree, which is in the same group, it’s chalk and cheese!

Great food, excellent friendly service and comfortable seating in the restaurant. Unfortunately very noisy due to the hard surfaces so difficult to converse easily.

Staff must have collectively been having a bad day and it’s one of those establishments that whack a service charge on the bill. I don’t go back to those places.

Dear Manager , I am writing to share my experience at your establishment today Unfortunately, my food order was incorrect as some items were missing, and there was a delay in its arrival at the table. As a result, my meal was served cold, especially the meat, and the side orders were a little dry. On a positive note, I must mention that the gravy was absolutely marvellous, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food and service were great. It’s just a shame that the live music that started near the end of our meal made conversation impossible. I think customers should be advised when booking if there’s going to be music in the pub.

Lovely place to sit and have a drink but the food was awful. The burger is not made in house but comes from a pre made, frozen patty and comes overdone and tasteless. The place comes off as posh but in reality you have to go to the bar to order your food, pay your bill and pay a hefty cheque for forgettable food.

Pretty disappointed, they got our order mixed up, food was mediocre at best. My beer was watered down, I had the same beer elsewhere and the taste was incomparable. Pretty overpriced for the fact the orders are placed over the counter like at McDonald's, would not go again. Felt like a scam...

I had initially booked a table for four, but due to changes, only two of us could attend. Despite this, we decided to support a local business rather than cancel. Big mistake. The service was poor at best —there simply weren’t enough staff, and when we were eventually sat, we never received a specials menu. After we were seated and placed our orders, our starters arrived before our drinks. While this inconvenient, it was only mildly so, and we were willing to look past the disorganised service. But wait for it… Then came the infamous “PRIME BURGER”, priced at *£17.25*. Now - naturally, with that price and description, you would expect something impressive, but what arrived was anything but. The burger, as photographed, looked sad – a stale bun, a frozen-looking patty, and very little else. (Ask yourself - would you eat those… Wait, what are they? Pickles?!) I politely asked the waitress if perhaps something was missing, like the cheese or burger sauce that the menu promised. She took it back to the kitchen, but seconds later returned with the exact same burger, unchanged, untouched, stating, “This is how it’s supposed to be.” (You’re kidding, right?). At that point, I explained that I understood it wasn’t her fault, but I couldn’t eat that. The waitress, rather dismissively, asked, “What do you want me to do?”. Reluctantly, I asked if the manager could come over to have a chat about the food. However, instead of the manager coming to speak with us, the waitress returned to say they’d take the burger off the bill and suggested I order something else. (Please keep in mind that I didn’t even have a menu at this point). It was almost laughable, especially since the restaurant wasn’t even busy. Meanwhile, a cold and lacklustre pizza was sitting across from us, longingly. We eventually shared that pizza, which, like everything else, was disappointing—sparse toppings, soggy crust, and poorly made cocktails to go with it… Can you imagine the romance? Honestly, I am not even scratching the surface of how bad the experience was with this review. It was so poor that it was to the point we couldn’t even be annoyed about it, because it was all, from start to finish, comically bad. In any case, the bill when it (eventually) came was £42.52 – even with a discount code. So, to put that in context for you, it was £42.52 for the privilege of 45 precious life minutes wasted featuring unjustifiably poor service, three croquettes, five halloumi fries, and a small, soggy, underwhelming pizza. If you value your time, money, and you expect any kind of dining experience, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. Please, don’t put yourself through it. Be kind to yourself. That's all, folks!

My wife and I and our small dog Winnie, arrived without booking on Saturday 26th October having walked 13 miles from Borehamwood. We were greeted by Keanu who couldn’t have been more welcoming, found us a table, persuaded the chef to make something for our dog as we had forgotten her food. All round exceptional service, delicious food & great atmosphere. Keanu absolute star.

This was a fairly good meal but found it very expensive for what we had. My two kids and I had 4 starters and two mains but no desserts and it was almost £100. No drinks except water either. Felt that was alot for a local pub mid week meal. That said, staff were very nice and we enjoyed the sticky chicken. Bar area I think has more atmosphere, we sat in restaurant and it was a bit dead. Overall ok experience.

Visited today. After hearing some rather positive reviews. Unfortunately, today I can not say the same. Compliments to the chefs as the food was lovely. The service, however, was not. Forgetting our orders, getting them wrong. Clearing the tables was done by myself during service. Having to go up as only some of the food was coming out whilst waiting over an hour from being seated. I'm really disappointed, so if you like great good and are happy to repeat yourself and clear up after yourself whilst waiting a while . This is a great place .

inconsistent meal sizes depending on what 'mains' you order. Some meals are plentiful others are tiny. I ordered a vegan meal that was very small compared to the meat meals enjoyed by my fellow guests. That said i have been many times in the past and with a changing menu i have had good/ better experiences at this restaurant as a Vegan Next time I'm thinking of going I'll check the menu beforehand
