Coppa Club, Streatley in West Berkshire

Came here for breakfast. Very slow service and the food portions were fairly small for £16. There was a leak in the roof trickling on my neck constantly (very uncomfortable). Although the waitress was very nice.

£100 per person on Xmas day dinner (rip off). NO CHRISTMAS MUSIC, NO DECORATIONS. Bread (no butter ), olives and cheese fingers. 1 carrot, 2 pre baked potatoes (white undercooked ) NO yorkshire puddings, 4 slices of turkey , 1 anaemic parsnip. Followed by (cold) brownie & scoop of ice cream. Very disappointed with the food and the amount we got. Service was brilliant though 👏 Based off of previous reviews, I would say our portions were alot smaller than someone who bought the same meal for £33. My advise would be to include Yorkshire puddings, and cook the parsnips and potatoes longer so there not white and under cooked ( tasted like they were pre cooked and warmed up ). Maybe for the price include more for your money.

Coppa Club and in general and specially the Streatley is amazing! Very high recommended place and chain. Every time we go to Streatley Coppa Club we have amazing time, spot on and very tasty food, and in general just bring joy to the soul ! Wonderful place, highly recommended !

A very very average experience for the price! Food was tiny portions, tasteless and over cooked. Service was very bad with different deserts coming 10 mins apart. For the price they charge I do not recommend. We are also sat by the window on the river terrace which was dark and freezing. The seats supplied were extremely uncomfortable patio chairs! Restaurant was half empty on the Friday night before Christmas. Maybe the locals know something I don’t. Not recommended.

Great food and private dining experience, staff excellent

Just got back from an amazing meal! The food was absolutely brilliant, especially the chocolate mousse and Coppa mess - I couldn't fault them. The service was spot-on; everyone was super friendly and made me feel welcomed right from the start. I also loved how quickly everything came out, making the whole experience seamless. Can't wait to return!

It has been years and they still haven't made a meal where ive felt anything but vague disappointment. Not send it back bad, but just so uninteresting, badly plated, and unenjoyable to eat. Setting is beautiful and servers are nice but I can't believe people keep suggesting we come here. My mother got a chicken salad that she said had a fishy aftertaste. My mojito only tasted of lime juice. Cant remember the name of my dish but it was one of the specials last month, needless to say it was disappointing and bland.

I didn’t have a booking and simply went in for a late lunch. I ordered a two course meal from the Christmas menu for £33. I had the sea bass as the main and chocolate brownie as the dessert. Included in the Christmas offer was also bread and olives, which would have been good to serve with butter, a dip or even olive oil. It was a reasonably good meal but the plating could have been a bit more appealing and the service a bit faster.

The location is great, next to a weir. Large car park. After lunch, one can take a scenic walk over the bridge and alongside the canal.

We had a bland experience on our first visit here . Waited ages for our drinks order to be taken , and ages for said drinks to arrive . Had to flag someone down to take our food order. No interaction from staff at all . Food arrived , it was nice but not wow given the prices .No one checked to see if everything was OK etc . Had to flag someone down for the bill !! Alot of similar issues in the reviews , no improvements made given our experience.

Nice location however actual food is not amazing and is very expensive. The decor inside is nice apart from where we were sat was really dark and the table was dirty. Food was mediocre and not worth the money for me personally.

Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. Lovely room with a view of the river, Friendly and attentive staff. Enjoyed two breakfasts and one evening meal. We will be returning.

Amazing weekend away with lovely rooms and friendly staff. Accommodating to all needs and food was lovely. Village the hotel is situated in is lovely and has great shops and walks to visit. Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice little break not too far from the city.

Review for Coppa Club Streatley I visited Coppa Club Streatley yesterday evening with my partner and two friends, and unfortunately, it was an utterly disappointing experience. This place, once a favorite of mine, has significantly gone downhill. While the location remains stunning and the venue itself is clean and well-maintained, I would strongly advise against spending your money here—it’s simply not worth it. To start, the service was incredibly slow, and we weren’t even greeted with a smile upon arrival. For a venue of this supposed standard, such lack of warmth and professionalism was unacceptable and set the tone for the evening. The food itself was another major letdown. I ordered the chicken main, which was shockingly small in portion size, fatty, and tasted terrible. For £18.50, I expected far better—this was a rip-off when compared to other venues offering quality dishes at similar prices. When I raised my concerns with the waitress, my complaint was dismissed outright. She didn’t offer to take the dish back or make any adjustments to the bill, which was particularly frustrating and unprofessional. Speaking of the bill, the total cost for two courses (no desserts!) came to an eye-watering £170. For what we received, this was outrageously overpriced. I left feeling cheated and deeply disappointed. Despite the beautiful setting, this experience has completely tarnished my view of Coppa Club Streatley. If you’re considering dining here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Save your money and your time—this place is not worth it.

Having stayed at the Coppaclub many times in Sonning, arriving at Goring was a refreshing new experience. The look and feel are very similar, and the location on the river provides a stunning setting. The addition of a health club is a great benefit. The food and staff maintain the high standards I’ve come to expect, and the overall experience is consistently good. I would highly recommend it for both lunch and overnight stays.

Overpriced low quality food- not a great combination. Staff were perfectly nice and attentive but service charge as standard so couldn’t recognise that on the bill that rivalled the GDP of any small state. I should have just sat outside at the busy cafe on the other side of the bridge.

The menu choice for breakfast seems to shrink on each visit, considering this is an hours drive from home one wonders if it's worth the effort(?); especially as favourite pancakes have now been removed. The service was slow and drinks arrived as we finished our meal (not that warm either!).

Have always loved this place, but a recent trip for a group of 10 was quite a let down. Service to our side room was very slow, numerous issues with food (everybody who ordered steaks/burgers commented on how oddly overcooked they were-steak was ordered med-rare but not the slightest hint of pink present, not great when charging £35 for a steak. Pasta portion hilariously small, and fries portion laughably stingy). Drinks were also an issue (beer flat, cocktails served as 90% froth if you were unlucky enough to get the bottom of the shaker-these are £13.50 and we were surprised the waiter had the brazeness to put these infront of customers! One of the "replaced" cocktails still found its way on to the bill twice!) We did not complain about all of the above, as it really ruins the vibe of a celebratory meal. Having been here 15+ times, ive always recommended it for its upmarket feel, great atmosphere and attention to service. It was a genuine disappointment.

Service very slow. Very busy at lunch time. Very very noisy. Acoustics bad. Food mixed. Pizza good. Chicken with red cabbage and anaemic fries, pedestrian and flavourless. Sister had a small pizza , garlic and mozerella, tasteless, she left it. No pride in what is served up. Relies on the ambience of the position, Streatley on Thames. Locals deserve better.

Won’t pickup the phone when calling for takeaway!

Very good food and service from a varied menu and a fabulous Thamesside location

I had a pain au chocolat with a coffee here and although the coffee was decent the pain au chocolat was a complete rip off for what you get. It was on a par with the ones you get from a packet in tescos. The place is looking a bit tired now compared to when I visited a year back so it could do with sole TLC. The service as very attentive though.

A lovely looking place, but unfortunately that's where the beauty ends. Form over substance. Bad tempered unpleasant staff, unclean crockery, cold food. A true lizard lounge, beautiful people on the outside, lizards in the inside!

Great place to meet up with friends. Tasteful decor. Young team of staff, friendly however a bit of training on correct handling of glasses would be worthwhile.

A very good dining experience by the side river view. A must go to place for anyone visiting Streatley near Reading in UK. Hot drinks were amazing.

I am not rating the floor experience, I am rating the fact that I had a booking at 15:30 and by 16:10 I was not on my table... We ordered medium burgers, medium steak and medium tuna... All came well done! We had stake and tuna redone and we kept the burger. All were tasty, also because of mistake, we had a discount on the bill. If we did not have to wait 40 minutes, the rating would be 4*

A delightful riverside venue with a comfortable environment, attentive and efficient staff and a good menu of fine dining options and daily chef's specials.

Great area, great service, but unfortunately the worst steak I’ve ever had

i will not be going back to this restaurant. My friend wanted her steak cooked medium rare, which is a common choice, the waiter refused and said they would only cook it rare or well done, she chose well done and it came rare. I ordered a pizza and asked if I could add chicken, they told me they could. Once the food came it was my pizza, with no chicken in it, just a side plate of large, unappetising pieces of chicken. I told them I ask for chicken on the pizza, they literally went and tipped the huge chunks of chicken onto the pizza. It was inedible, they should’ve just said they couldn’t add chicken in first place. They didn’t even attempt to slice the pizza and did not provide a sharp knife for me to be able to cut it. It was also soggy and far too oily. Staff not very friendly, had to ask for bill multiple times. Of course they automatically add an undeserved service charge on the bill. Avoid this restaurant.

The host and the waiters were absolutely lovely and could not fault them but unfortunately the food was quite honestly the worst I have ever had. The starter crispy squid; it wasn’t crispy and tasted like cheap flour. The beef pasta tasted like it was from a microwave and the 8oz steak and chips were cold and poor quality. Not what I expected from such a high priced restaurant I would definitely not recommend. I paid £100 overall for my girlfriend and I, the best thing we had was the wine.

Had an incredible dinner at Coppa Club with the most stunning Thames River views. The food was absolutely delicious - I especially enjoyed the fish cake and truffle fries. Our server, Carlos, was exceptional and made our experience even more memorable. Highly recommend!

Very disappointing caesar salad - limp, soggy leaves, about 4 super thin slices of radish, and swimming in dressing.

What an absolute gem this in. Located next to the Thames and extremely popular for weddings hence the car park was full and took a little while to get a space. However, once seated in the restaurant, the view was fabulous. The service was wonderful with a young, hip and enthusiastic team, and the food was top notch. We would definitely return and having visited on a hot and sunny day I am keen to visit closer to Christmas to see what changes they bring to the menu.

Waited to be seated, waited ages for drinks order to be taken, starters cleared whilst one person still eating, table behind us became a dumping ground for staff to put crockery cleared from tables. Service lacked friendliness and felt brusque. Feedback provided on the night to the manager and discount offered but as explained we had paid the bill and it wasn’t about the discount it was to provide feedback about staff

Only a 4* just to the lovely scenic view from the restaurant. Food was poor. My partner and I visited the Coppa Club Restaurant, and unfortunately, the food was overpriced for the quality - spending > £120. We ordered the croquettes, which were awful & tasted like they were frozen, and the calamari, which was by far the worst I've ever had – undercooked and with tasteless batter. My girlfriend had the fish pie, which was extremely disappointing and tasted cheap. The only highlight was the burger I ordered, which was tasty and cooked well. On a positive note, the view over the River Thames and the atmosphere were fantastic. We also returned for breakfast, which was average but much better than dinner. We had the English breakfast and pancakes, which were okay but nothing special. The food is dear, but don’t expect the quality to match the price point…

Love the Lobster Shack this summer

I have not experienced all this place can offer. What I can say is a complex there is much to enjoy. The Lobster bar looks new, it had some live music, a cocktail and alfresco drinks area.. The small cafe area served coffee and pastries. Also there is a full restaurant and hotel.. Better still it is all by a river and on sunny day quite wonderful place to relax.

All Coppa Clubs are great. This one like the one in Sonning is right on the river. Good food, good service, good choice of wine,

Really gorgeous setting by the Thames, nicely designed interiors, this place feels special. Lots on offer (outdoor kitchen, cinema, gardens, waterside pergola), super busy, very helpful friendly staff. Pizza was a tad soggy and chicken ever so slightly under cooked, but otherwise, really good food (desserts were spectacular) and atmosphere was buzzy. Hard to find a space in the car park. A bit pricey, but we'd come again.

Great place & location. Staff need training on phone though, I asked if the game (3pm community shield) was on Sat & she replied ‘yes’. We drive from London & get sent from staff member to staff member to be advised we won’t be showing it.

More vegan offerings would be good but beautiful atmosphere and surroundings

We stayed in the hotel Friday night where Lewis and his staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. Great stay, however we had breakfast at Coppa which was good value but the attitude of the front of house was appalling. She had a terrible attitude and didn’t make us feel welcome at all. Asking for a table that wasn't in the dark was too much to ask. All the waiting staff were extremely helpful, but for a front of house, we won’t be back for that reason,

Ladies that used the vouchers for cocktails non alcoholic We had a great time nibbles and a cosy seat by the river Service was second to none polite waiter Manager kind Creme brulee was well the best my friend has ever had I must admit it was yummy x

Fab restaurant up there with my favourite

Visited the Copa club this week while visiting my aunt . Was initially impressed with the place itself , fantastic view over the river and lovely atmosphere in the place unfortunately the food can only be described as bad infact I’d go as far as to say it was the worst food I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant. My aunt and myself had calamari which was very chewy followed by the prawn pasta which was just revolting thank god I only ordered the small one . My aunts partner had the prawns which he said was ok and the plant based burger which he didn’t rate much. The waitresses were ok although one forgot to get our drinks on a couple of occasions. We did complain and got given a glass of wine on the house which helped soften the blow but I don’t think I’ll rush back there when I’m back in the area.

We went for a late lunch. We were sat down by a very friendly lady. Our food was delicious and service was good. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our meal. I had rib-eye steak which was cooked to perfection.

So if you sit outside you pay the 2£ per person table fee. We have been a few times now. Both I and my wife decided to go up to the bar to order drinks. Shambles. So long to be served. And both times we shared our experience of the bar manager seemingly walking around not helping and just moving bottles a few inches to look busy. Both my partner and I had to ask for service we were ignored and chaotic organisation. We ordered some bar food on our first visit. Service was quick. Food was equally over priced and not over priced. The margarita pizza was good price was excellent. £10. The buttermilk chicken with siracha was over priced and really not worth it for 8£. Way over priced. Check the pictures. The location was great. The vibe cozy and very well planned out and romantic for the outlook on river. Really liked the place. It’s large and many choices to sit on sofas that are cosy and inviting. I’ve marked it down otherwise the Google algorithm does no change overall to rating. Choice of what you ordered is paramount if ordering food. Would recommend for the location.

It was my 21st birthday yesterday and I chose to celebrate here with my family, and I am so glad I made that decision. Lovely cocktails, friendly staff, good food: similar to my other visits (I frequently visit on special occasions). A big thank you to the waiter who heard that it was my birthday, and must have relayed it to the kitchen staff who prepared ice cream with sauce spelling out ‘happy birthday’ (see attached photo). Moreover, we were about to leave but the waiter made sure we didn’t leave the restaurant without receiving this. It was such a special ending to the meal, and was so thoughtful of the staff to consider. Even with this aside, the food, drinks, service and atmosphere is immaculate! Thank you for making my day extra special.

Came for brunch on Sunday with my good friend Arj, and we had the most amazing food overlooking the river. This place is pretty special with some amazing walks around which we found after and had a relaxing few hours by the river. I will definitely be back.

What a venue! Stunning location by the river, the acoustics of the weir are lovely and as you'll see from the pictures it was a beautiful day. After being shown to our table we opted to share starters. We had the prawns on bruschetta and the squid. Both were marvelous and suited to sharing, there could have been a few more prawns but the bread was lovely as was the garnish and the flavours were superb so all is fine. The squid was also very nice with a lovely garlic dip. For our main we both opted for the Ravioli which was delicious, initially we were a little underwhelmed with the portion size but at the end of the course we were both sated. How could you not wish for more? The pasta was cooked to perfection, JUST al Dente with a beautiful filling and the sauce that accompanied it was light and a delight. Driving prevented alcohol consumption and it would have been nice to have more choice of sugar free soft drinks as we are both diabetic and I dislike diet coke, the only option. Desert was lovely too. Strawberry cheesecake with the sweetest fresh strawberries and sticky toffee pudding rounded off a superb meal. They say you get what you pay for and it was eye wateringly expensive but I can't do anything but recommend it despite the prices. Service was superb

One of my favourite places to eat, food is always fabulous

So, where do I start...food was awful, no one could eat the steak as it was fatty and gristle. The service was the worst I we have ever experienced. We asked for some sauces and they dripped on one of our friends dress! I could go on and on but basically I would never book here for an occasion again.

Visited for lunchtime meal. The service was very quick, the waitress was friendly, and the food was great. We sat in the conservatory looking over the Thames. The sun came out, which made it even more picturesque!

Rolled up as a group of 6 mountain bikers after some lunch from riding the Ridgeway, we wrer made most welcome including space for our bikes. Service was friendly and attentive, would highly recommend the lobster shack. Will go again, stunning outside area to enjoy and relax by the Thames.

Fantastic location but unfortunately the food and service was pretty terrible. The food portions are tiny and the dishes are overpriced. The service was a mess; the waiter spilled some of my drink on my friend’s lap and didn’t apologize nor offer a new one. We never got the water, coffee and coke that we ordered and asked for 3 times, Finally they messed up the bill and tried to overcharge us with drinks they had not delivered. Extremely disappointing.

Had breakfast, WARNING Avoid the poached eggs!! my friend had the poached eggs and has been badly sick since. Its been 5 days of a bad stomach and dissentry for the poor fellow. He is on medication and under the advice of a doctor. The Coppa say they are investigating but we have seen nothing so far.

Food was lovely,service was really good. Didn’t really know where to sit at first as was very busy. You need to go to the desks before sitting down,but is a very big place so , a waitress was good with her service to help.

Just perfect! The bbq outside on the lawn, the boats going by, the atmosphere was great! Will be back!

Amy served us for a Tuesday evening meal. She was very polite and happy to serve us whenever we needed. It was a lovely evening sat in our favourite corner seat looking out onto the river.

Beautiful gardens and restaurant. The kids said "anybody could make this pizza, why did it take so long for ketchup and cheese in a dough? " ... Otherwise it was a pleasant day out.

A complete let down, the bar staff just don't care it's a long wait for a disappointing experience... it could be so much better it's a lovely spot right on the river I guess they just can't get the staff

Good all around restaurant in amazing location

Overall atmosphere was good but the service was very slow and we felt we were left out. We had to wait over an hour for our drinks and our food even came before the drinks. Food was cold and had to be returned several times. With the bill coming to £184.00 we were shocked with what we got for that amount of money. Very expensive and poor food and service.

We have been here before and enjoyed many good meals, but tonight was a sham and one to be shared, if you don't know of the problems how can you fix it Coppa Club. We arrived on our bike, the place was busy, good vibe but knowing where to sit and order was confusing. So we tried the tables (with numbers) just outside the Cafe area, in a quieter area we felt, we tried to order using their Scan System on the menu, that took us to the website but there was no food to order! Here we go....So we asked the young Waitress where best to order because nothing really seemed clear, she suggested the bar, great! I have already been there once and queue for a drink, observed the Stoney faced girl behind the bar doing nothing to help whilst two chaps try and attempt to run, well make good a chaotic operation even more chaotic, get the picture! So I went back to order food, this time only to be told "we don't serve to that table", really why is that? Just a stones throw away from the bar, with a table number I couldn't see the problem. So, as per the suggestion we opted to sit within the bar area, underneath the Marquee, now in the noisy environment which we really didn't want, I placed the order and waited. 50 minutes later, having chased twice on our order we finally had an offer of chips! Not quite what we ordered, we also wanted Burgers with these, but we got the impression these were given away by mistake to a group of lads who were completely smashed, when you observed the waitress you could see she didn't have a clue where the food was going. Yet they took our table number, they seemed to spend an awful long time looking through the receipts, clearly their system wasn't working. No one we chased for the food came back to us to update us, until this new waitress came back and had to ask "what did you order", shocked and frustrated, why wasn't this checked, why didn't anyone come back last time. We received an apology and an offer for drinks, thank you, but it rather dampen the beautiful summer evening. We never had the drink due to riding on the Motorbike. The food was delicious by the way, just the whole operation was not executed well. Please fix this.

Only 6 people in restaurant. Had to wait to be served and ignored. Physically had to call out to the girl for our order to be taken.

Service was appalling! I took my two dogs in after a walk around goring. They’re very well behaved. I asked to sit outside which was fine. I then sat and waited for them to take my order …. 25mins go by and no one comes, lots of servers walked past me but non stopped. I thought they’re busy I’ll order inside so I did. I then sat patiently and waited and another 30mins go by. I wouldn’t have minded but I only ordered a pint of cider and some chips. I went back inside to ask and they said there was no note of my order even being taken. So I left. I have been here many times but this time has really changed my view of the place.

Still a case of style over substance. Very average, unexciting menu. Obvious signs of cost cutting. Service was pleasant but not without problems. Excellent location.

Service and food always good especially breakfast / brunch. The prices are not too steep considering the area and portions are reasonable. Staff are always warm and welcoming.

Been waiting 25 minutes after menu was given to us to place an order only for drinks. We indicated when we arrived we would like to get only drinks. No attention, nothing. Left without Goodbye, staff haven’t even noticed.

Nice place but slightly let down by the food. Great atmosphere by the river. Lovely little bar with faux fireplace for a digestif after dinner. But during dinner, half our dishes were served warm rather than hot, the truffle pizza barely tasted of truffle despite a significant price mark-up, and small pet peeve - the (otherwise lovely) Chateauneuf red wine was served at around 20 degrees so had to cool it down. Staff were lovely though.

Got to luv the coppa club . 💙 Fantastic location with holiday vibe . Yes only one very pleasant waitress on duty 4.30 pm at deli side - obviously coffee coming out was slow . Just chill a bit ! Lovely carrot cake and batista style coffee.
