Costa Coffee in Bedford

A pleasant chain coffee shop with the usual pros and cons. Staff are generally engaging and friendly but, visiting as we do at various times of day, we note that sometimes staffing levels seem far too low, resulting in tables laden with dirty plates and long queues. You more or less have to take it for granted that often you will have to clear used crockery off your table before you can sit down. Not a massive thing, but it happens much more often than seems appropriate considering the price of a latte!

We come here every Wednesday on my day off. The staff are always exceptional and go the extra mile to feel welcome. Even though there are easier branches to get to we still return here just for the quality of service.

Only 2 people in front of us in the queue and it took 15 minutes to get served. The other employee cleaned down all the equipment whilst we waited but didn't help serve customers 🙄

There a representative there called Kieran , whi is quite rude from the first encounter I had with him. I was quite upset with a few things with him from his bad customer service to not bothering to clean whilst he was just standing around talking for ages which resulted in me cleaning not only my table but also another parents table next to mine, because he was just not bothered. I again had bad service for the second time fro. Him and finally had enough when today he chucked my plate of hot food rudely on the counter. Complete rude delinquent who knows nothing about customer service. He is a very bad representation of the staff there especially unlike some of the girls ,with the good customer service, working on the weekends.

Amazing top tier staff always smiling and willing to help. The girls in the afternoom shift (31.10.24) were very helpfull and kind. Always making everyone feel welcome and included. Delivery driver

One of the worst coffees i had this morning

Costa coffee Rope Walk Bedford. This coffee venue needs a massive sign, NO ACCESS FOR WHEEL CHAIR USERS. You could go in, be served, then no room at all to maneuver to any seat. If you just wished to use the disabled toilet, there is no room to get through the seating area to it. If the entire cueue of people waiting to be served evacuated the area, you could gain access. Hmm. So i name this coffee establishment as Access Denied for anyone with mobility difficulties. I would prefer to give no stars at all. Ian Player.

When I'm travelling across country and in the vicinity,I always swing by, great vibe, great for networking keep it up Costa!!

Staff is friendly and nice. Drinks are good esp frappe in summer and hot chocolate in winter. My kids love Mango n passion fruit cooler in summer. I'm not a big fan of food served here esp the croissants which was really bad. If its fresh, then might be better. Staff is nice and friendly. Internet and toilets are available.

The drive through here is slow. The staff are friendly but overworked. Tbh I'm not sure drive through coffee has got the fast drive through thing down

It's a Costa. With a friendly team. A refuge from the hurly burly of life in the fast lane if you need it.

This Costa has just been refurbished but the outside has no bin so is littered and very untidy, the staff are lovely and helpful but they are understaffed so the place is untidy and at times dirty with tables not being cleared.

Service was as expected, which is good 😊 Decor has been updated - long overdue

I’ve been using Starbucks recently as they actually have internet. Wanted to use drive thru so swung by you guys. 15 minutes to receive order…. Yet no queue. When received your tried handing us a cup covered in cream ….. a right mess. Sorry but the prices you charge the service was well below expectations today.

I visited on Friday 7th of June at 19:06 I believe they close at 19:00 soon as I grab the door a women shouted we closesd, so I asked can we use to toilet please as I was with my pregnant wife and she needed to use the toilet, and another staff member's little shot shouted NO GET OUT! I was shocked you guys need to train your staff and teach them some manners this is very poor from a brand like Costa.

New member of staff was obviously not trained?????? I saw her use the same chopping board and knife for both of our vegetarian and fish choices!!!! Is this not covered in basic training? I’m no chef but I have common sense. Manager in charge do you have any idea what cross contamination means????? I’ve contacted environmental health.

Okay for a coffee and snack stop

Not a fan of these coffee shop chains, prefer local coffee shops. But as a family gathering after Parkrun, it does the job.

I find the coffee is bitter and overpriced. I don't eat the food, it's to expensive. I feel bad for the staff, they try their best, but they are always rushed off their feet.

To the member of staff who wrote this on my hot chocolate today... thank you, I was having the worst day and this made me smile, so kind & thoughtful. Also the hot chocolate was lush!

Expensive coffee, (2 coffee's 1 Pannini £14) dirty tables, bad atmosphere! Never again!

Would have had a sandwich. However, the one I fancied was plaintbased. Good move to stop the Bluelight card. Many of the front line have had huge pay increases, unlike those on min wage, etc.

Nice hot chocolate. Service inefficient. Tables quite messy. Toilets very unclean.

Service was a bit slow but I think it was doing induction training for a new starter as she didn't know that milk should accompany a pot of tea! Cakes are OK but grossly overpriced, slices are cut way too small compared to other places. I had a struggle to get my free coffee that I was due, but persistence paid off eventually. It seems to depend on which staff are working that day.

Came to Costa for a hot chocolate, was served by Terry who was very polite, welcoming and smily however whilst being served, a colleague of his spoke to him extremely rude and had a nothing but a stinking attitude. Her attitude stunk more than my dog’s poo on my shoe and I wanted to tell her about her attitude however was swayed by my partner. She needs to attend some sort of customer service training. Thanks Terry for an outstanding service. Kudos to you but not your colleague

Good coffee and service. Only a little bit of a wait

Very busy and staff were a bit overwhelmed when I visited. Surprisingly busy for a weekday and for the location. Still, a handy place to grab a coffee if you're shopping on the retail park.

My support worker and I used the drive through to buy a latte each. When we parked up to drink them my support workers coffecwas so full it spilt everywhere and burnt both of us and went in my car . She went back in to ask for cloths to try and clean my car as the milk would start to smell as time passes and explained what happened. The only thing that was offered was a refund. There was no real urgency to help. We had to clean everything. The manager is supposed to be ringing my support worker. If I have to have my car...which is a mobility car for my disabilities....valeted that will be a lot of expense for me. I will lose my deposit if my car is not in good condition. I will never visit again. The standard of service and quality of coffee has been going downhill rapidly and this was the straw that broke the camels back.

Automatic opening door was not working at the time of my visit which meant that people with pushchairs need extra assistance to get in and out. Otherwise service was quick .

Unfortunately I can't rate the coffee or the cakes due to not being able to even try them. Went there with my friend and our 2 toddlers but the coffee shops ony has one high chair and we had to leave.

Good chilled place to get a coffee

Now a new format Costa with a corridor along the serving bar and tables squeezed in. This format makes for zero atmosphere. They also didn't add the reward beans to my account.

Visit this costa a couple times a week, delicious coffees/hot chocolates busy in the mornings.

Had a cappuccino today for lunch and it was awful. The bitterness seemed to overwhelm any coffee flavour.

I think the furniture now is too old and damaged, luckily the drinks are all perfect.

Great customer service and have been here many times over the years. It’s not cheap but it’s costa so prices aren’t set by them… For me, they’ve always got orders correct (I have allergies so worry about wrong orders), and tables are generally clean. Plenty of (free) parking in the retail park too. There’s also a drive thru too which isn’t clearly labelled on Google maps but very visible when you visit.

Ordered through the drive-thru, really quick and efficient service. I had to add an extra two coffees to my order which can be seen as really annoying however, the server on the window ( her name is Adelaide) was really patient. She didn’t get annoyed. She deserves more recognition for her efforts. Thank you Adelaide.

Much better than the Costa at Kingston Milton Keynes but a bit of a wait to get my drinks! Loafs of people serving but only 1 person actually making the drinks? Would have been 5 stars if not for that.

Re-furbished café much more attractive and with a good number of people sitting at tables it had a very nice vibe. Very short time in the queue. Coffee good and pain au raisin almost fresh.

It's all about the staff for Costa. It's the only bit that makes a difference. Staff here are very good.

Drive through closed, Stale chocolate twist, but good coffee, nice and warm.

Average food and prices are little high. Not recommended unless it is the only option for you. Atmosphere is moderate as it is right infront of the parking lot.

Only had coffee but as good as usual

There are some very nice coffees here and the barristas make them excellently. It's often busy and feels very cramped. The staff are good, but, as I said, they are busy so don't expect a personal touch.

The atmosphere of this place is different, I think it is more enjoyable.

Great place, lots of parking, just really busy and can be tricky to find a table. Can feel really crowded when you finally find one!

Ordered a flat white via the drive thru only to find all I got was a £3.15 hot milk .

Met a friend for coffee during lunch hour. Queue out the door on arrival. Then when inside not much selection in terms of sandwiches. Stock was replenished much later. We thought we would try Christmas menu. Waiting 10mins for drinks to be prepared. Ordered two Toblerone lattes. Really horrid taste that we couldn't bear to finish. Out of politeness I went up and ordered our usual drinks instead. Again I stood waiting 14mins just for my drinks to be prepared. By this time I've almost lost 35mins of time with my friend. It just made it such an uncomfortable experience. It would have been much quicker to go through the drive through. Standards at this particular Costa has really slipped. Not sure we will continue to meet at Costa in future which is sad as its always been my got to place.

No complaints here, it's Costa and it's done well. Staff are quick, efficient ad amiable. This branch of Costa also features a drive-through window, for your convenience. There aren't as many decorations on the walls here compared to other branches, but the many windows and outdoor seating area provide ample opportunities for people watching 👀 We'll certainly be back ✅️

I had a catch up with friends the young lady that serve didn't seem to know about the new Christmas menu I ask her a simple question what the difference between the gingerbread latte frosty one to normal one her answer was the price I sad no I mean what different about the 2 drinks then the girl making drink had to tell me which is a bit worrying that she don't know what in it then our food was cold so instead getting a fresh one for me and my friend she rewarm the ones we had then we didn't know who's food was who I work in catering not very hygienic considering we don't know who's was who then we decided to get some cake we wanted carrot cake but when I saw the receipt it was banana and pecan also worrying coz I actually don't like banana and waitress said it was carrot cake but they use a different button on till but I'm not to know that am I and I could have been allergic to nuts which could be very serious you need to make sure all staff are trained properly on new products and what they are seving customers I couldn't even use my rewards coz she was in hurry to serve us very disappointing visit

Visited today the 23rd September 2022. Hopeless at the drive through. Ordered a regular black americno, got a regular caramel latte, only found this out when I got a place I could take a drink. Drove back went the counter and they changed it for me, thank you. While at the counter chap Infront of me ordered some strawberry flavoured cream drink thing and it was over full with a por fitting lid. Come on Costa Coffee get a grip. Teach your team to listen to the customers and get better fitting lids.
