Costa Coffee in Shropshire

Unfortunately this was the second time I’ve had a disappointing visit to this Costa. The first time I put it down to it being busy. This time they had a lot of items not available. No frappe mix so was offered a hot chocolate. Asked for cream and marshmallows to a reply of we have run out. Eventually were given our drinks and I questioned whether the hot chocolates has been made with water or milk as they appeared very watery and boiling hot. The reply was ‘I always use milk’ so I showed the drink and again the reply was its milk. The attitude of the staff member was awful. I have worked in coffee shops myself so I do know the difference. The only positive was that the children said that the ham and cheese toasties were nice

Turned up at costa at 3 o’clock on a Sunday to grab a coffee, to then be turned down by the arrogant staff claiming that they couldn’t serve us drinks at 3 as they had to leave… Problematic unhelpful and rude staff would really not recommended.

Wow, I have never had such a negative experience in a Costa! The "barista" taking the order was inept & didn't know basics. They were out of oat milk, so was offered a substitute I'd never had before - it was nothing like oat milk! Even though we ate in, they'd run out of crockery so had take away beakers! The reason they had no crockery was because it was all piled up on the table next to us! No tables were being cleared, customers were putting stuff there so they had somewhere to sit. The worst bit undoubtedly was that I now think the "barista" got my decaff coffee wrong. Didn't question the taste at the time as I thought it was this oat milk replacement making it taste weird. I was was still awake in bed at 2am, I cannot tolerate caffeine, not impressed Costa. Shalln't be using this branch again.

Went into into Costa today(22/04/23)at around 5 o’clock. My husband asked the question of are you still open and we was told that they were closed. However, on the front door it stated that they were open till 6pm. When I said to the Costa barista she said “I’m telling you we are closed”. I then went on to say “oh well I’m just trying to say that the sign on the door says 6pm” I then was told again that they were closed. Then she shouted at me saying “I’m telling you we are closed and you need to get out”. I then walked away and then opened the door and asked for her name so that I could report her to Costa head office as the way I was spoken to was very unacceptable. She then refused to give me her name and was saying to another Costa worker “give me the keys so I could lock this door”. Then she turned around and shouted again in a really aggressive manner saying “you need to leave and GET OUT”. I did leave and even after I left and the door was slowly closing I could still hear hear shouting “you need to leave and get out”. I have always used Costa coffee in Shrewsbury especially this one and I have to say I have never been spoken to like this by anyone before for asking a simple question of if they were still open, quite honestly I haven’t been spoken to like this from a hospitality worker in my whole life, it’s absolutely disgusting and I feel that the way I was treated and spoken to was completely unacceptable. If someone could of been more vulnerable this could have serious consequences. I hope that Costa Coffee takes this matter really seriously and this particular individual is let go with immediate effect. I am a catering manager and I know that if one of my staff members treated a customer like this there would be serious consequences and as we all well know the customer is always right.

Costa has great coffee I pop into many of them however the breakfast wrap is totally disgusting! £4.15 and it is the worst buy I have ever had. I had to return it as it was so vile, the staff were helpful and gave me something else but be warned do not buy one you will be disappointed.

Clare was unecessarily rude today ( Sunday afternoon). If you get an order wrong, don't tut and sigh at the customer and throw the milk away in a huff. Not only correct the mistake, make eye contact, apologise and smile please. It wasn't a problem for me having to wait at all and there was no need to behave like that. It was your your fault you didn't read the ticket correctly. I know you were busy but good customer service is important. We won't be visiting again if we have to encounter such immature staff. Nice coffee though.

I went for a coffee yesterday at the Next Costa cafe. I was spoken to in a rude manner by a member of staff. I did have a mask and by the way if they had got their info right you are not mandated to wear a mask in hospitality but I happened to loosen my mask having clearly seen me wearing one but decided to tell me to put it over my face. She then queried why I was wanting milk in my filter coffee. Sorry but who is the customer. Her approach was all wrong. I suggest the staff are given some advice on "The customer is right" clearly this has gone amiss in this cafe.

Staff helpful and courteous. But be very careful if you plan to have a leisurely coffee and stay on the retail park for shopping etc. Just received a £100 parking invoice for spending several hours on Meole Brace retail pk Christmas shopping. Wouldn’t want the same to happen to you. : (

Can’t believe that one of the staff didn’t have there mask over there nose. When I pointed it out she gave me a surly look and said it won’t stay up. When I just saw her pull it up then off her nose. Won’t be going in there again. You need to teach your staff to make your customers feel safe.

Visited recently for lunch. The staff kept an eye on queuing making sure we were all 2 metres apart. Efficient order of food and it was executed quickly to a hatch at the end of the line. Food was typical of costa, only downside was the water stained and sticky cutlery that is sometimes a feature of industrial dish washing standards. Had to get another set but don't think that was any better. Couldn't use them in the end. Toilets were clean, have come to not expect a special experience in Costas anymore as they are all starting to look a bit tired I think, but when there isn't a lot of choice its perfectly adequate.

We were served promptly by a lovely girl called Gemma. Usual good coffee and we had hot food too which wad also good. Gemma delivered our drinks to the table with a smile! Usual Costa layout so just as expected.

We'd parked at the Moele Brace Park & Ride, and on returning to our car from Shrewsbury moved to the Retail Park for lunch & some out of town shopping. We visited Costa Coffee which is situated upstairs in the Next Shrewsbury store. We only wanted a couple of coffees and panini's but the member of staff who served us (Gabi) was pleasant, efficient and did her best to get us to try the new blend of coffee.

Not sure why I arrange to meet people here, customer service is always shocking no attention to detail. Behind the counter looked totally out of control! I get the impression that the staff don’t want to be there! Will not be visiting this place again. Disgrace!

Second visit to this outlet as it’s a convenient stopping off point for us (to and from Wales) Although a weekday the car park was busy and the entrance/exit road was fairly congested. It’s a pity there is only one vehicular access to this retail park. As previously the Costa was busy but having cleared a table of empties (again) we did find two seats! Pleasant staff, reasonable cappuccino’s, not a great selection of pastries left on offer tho’
