Crannog Seafood Restaurant in Highland

Absolutely brilliant restaurant. Food was amazing, we had a Hake dish and a Salmon dish. The service was exceptional, so kind and friendly. If you want a good wine to go with your seafood I suggest a bottle of the Reisling. This restaurant is currently situated in the town centre, the last time we went it was on the loch side. Either way it was excellent on both occasions.

Melhor refeição que fizemos em 2 semanas. Chegamos sem reserva e fomos prontamente atendidos. As entradas estavam espetaculares (torta de salmão defumada e mexilhões). Pedimos o robalo e o bacalhau que estavam, ambos, no ponto perfeito, bem como todos os acompanhamentos. Que refeição maravilhosa, todos os sabores combinavam e se completavam, restaurante 5 estrelas com certeza. Deu vontade de estender a estadia para comer aqui novamente. Sabe aquela refeição que te deixa feliz?! É essa. Só venham.

We ate here last night, 2/11. We believe this is a temporary venue for this fabulous restaurant whilst their other premises are being renovated. We were warmly greeted and seated in a busy restaurant that had a warm and friendly feel. All the food sounded delicious especially the specials. Of the three of us I was the only one to have a starter - the hot smoked salmon tart - delicious! Crisp pastry, tasty hot smoked salmon and rich veloute. My dad the venison which was rich and soft - melt in your mouth tenderness. Whilst my husband a generous portion of seafood pasta - it was tasty, hot and very fresh - he said it was amazing. I had the monkfish special - loin wrapped in Parma ham with scallops. Again delicious! Service was the right mix of friendly and competent. A lovely restaurant serving very delicious food. We will visit again if we are up in Fort William.

Excellent, cosy, seafood restaurant which we discovered on the internet. Scallops were fresh & plump Cullen Skink perfect Monkfish wrapped in Parma ham delicious We had a nice bottle of wine and were looked after very well by Donna Our neighbouring table turned out to be a couple from Mexico who also loved seafood. We will recommend the Crannog to all our friends. Great wee find.

Absolutely lovely restaurant serving predominantly seafood. Staff very friendly and helpful. The Cullen skink(creamy smoked haddock, potatoes and leek soup) was delicious as was cod with squid and roasted cabbage. I think menu changes quite regularly. Lots of local and seasonal produce. Cosy, quirky vibe with I teresting local artwork on the walls.

Hands down the best seafood restaurant I‘ve been to in a long time. The scallops were out of this world, perfectly sesoned and balanced in taste - a Michelin star worthy dish. Also everything else we had was top notch. The mussels were fresh and of the highest quality, served in a delicate creamy soup and accompagnied by bread that was baked to be dipped. Even the chips were next level - handcut and fried to perfection. Service was friendly but it took almost an hour until the food arrived. Well worth the wait, though. This place is as good as it gets.

Lots of lovely local produce including vegetables, seafood and assorted shellfish. The Oysters were sublime! Some simple options like fish and chips for fussier eaters.

Essential to book for this super popular restaurant! We enjoyed the Skate Wings with cauliflower puree, roasted florets, beurre noisette, capers, spinach and raisins. The Plaice and herb crushed potatoes with grilled leeks in a clam sauce was delicious. Baked Sole with asparagus, morels and pea puree, potato dauphin and wild garlic. The puds were delicious - Rhubarb fool with its ginger crumble and orange sorbet. Service was efficient and friendly.

We knew this place was good as we'd visited several times before so we brought along our parents for them to try it. Unfortunately my mum was taken ill during lunch and the staff could not have been any more helpful. Angie the manager bent over backwards to look after us, enabling us to care for mum while waiting for the ambulance. Offering support, moved furniture, provided water and cups of tea, even a coke for my son. All with a smile and heaps of reassurance. Then when we went to pay, discounted the bill as none of us had managed to finish our main course. What a star she is. Incredible service and lovely food. Go and visit - you won't be disappointed!

I had a memorable fish meal from the specials board. A half Oban lobster on a bed of delicious plump mussels cooked a la mariniere. The restaurant is not on the Town Pier at present but at the top of Cameron Square next to the Highland Cinema. Service was excellent.

Outstanding restaurant. Interesting and varied menu which goes beyond seafood. Our fish dishes were both superb, probably the best we had during our 10 days in Scotland. Good ambience, very pleasant and efficient staff. Don't miss it, but do book.

Shocker - the Crannog restaurant is not on or by the Loch. The meal was good but very pricey ... (expect to pay circa £50 per head for 2 courses) and the service was standard, not great. Food took a long time to come and waited a long time for any orders. I would not recommend it.

OH MY WORD!!!!! I think this is probably the best fish restaurant we have EVER been to. We had seen great reviews before our trip to Fort William so booked well in advance thankfully because there would have been no chance of us getting in without a booking and I can see why. I had the Cullen Skink to start and I seriously could have bathed in it!! My husband chose the cod scotch egg which was delicious. However the 1st prize most definitely go to my main course - the pan fried Hake with crushed new potatoes, asparagus and crab meat (even typing this is making me hungry!) My husband chose fish and chips, we had a bit of banter with the waitress about whether they were gonna beat our Yorkshire fish & chips!! They did!! We didn't have dessert as were too stuffed but they looked lovely. Seriously, if you love fish, you HAVE to book a table here - enjoy

O yes brilliant place if you are a sea food fan like me

Yesterday we ate at the "sister" restaurant (Cameron Square, next to the cinema) because the red house on the water is being renovated. The food was delicious, the service very customer friendly and the ambiance also very good. Highly recommended. Greetings from Holland.

Lucky got squeeze in a table without booking. The food was just amazing, scallops is my favorite. Also, everything is served with smile. Must try at Fort William.

Hard potatoes in the Cullen skink ruined a potentially fantastic lunch

Food was really good, staff friendly. We went to restaurant without booking, they helped us and organised table. Menu is simple and delicious, seafood fresh and sourced locally.

Booked ahead but forgot to give details of dietary needs. Chef was really good on providing a lovely meal.

Crannog - 100% excellent - food outstanding, service - second to none, restaurant set-up, views and ambiance - perfect. You will need to book ahead for this very popular eatery. Although very busy, you will experience personal and attentive care from the waiting staff, a vibrant though quiet restaurant and melt-in-your-mouth food. The menu has a wide selection with everything cooked with fresh and local ingredients and to a very, very high standard. I am sorry that I did not take any photos of our meal - but do go this easily missed excellent seafood restaurant. Shout out to Angie and Naomi who went above and beyond to ensure we had a special time (I think this is their priority for all diners!)

High quality of food and adorable staff

Oysters and mussels are really as creamy fresh and beauty as staff recommended. Tried monk fish for the first time and it's chewy and irresistible.

Great seafood and overall good value too. Superb location overlooking Loch Linnhe, adjacent to Fort William town centre. Look out for their specials. We had a whole Dover sole, more than enough for two with a hearty appetite. Magnificent, meaty fish. Wine selection decent. Picpoul Pinet was perfect with seafood. Friendly, attentive service.

Most devine food - ranges among the best we’ve ever had! Everything was to die for and the compositions excellent! Location was super cute on the Loch. We wish we had stayed longer in Fort Williams to be able to eat here again!

Delicious seafood in a cozy and beautiful setting

The food was delicious! Surprising combinations of flavours which result in a feast for taste buds. If it was only about the taste of the food, I'd give 5 stars. However, the prices are quite high and servings (at least of what we had) could be bigger for that price. The interior design could use some refreshing too. The staff are nice and helpful.

Beautiful views of Loch Linnhe and some good quality local food makes this a great option for dining when near Onich.

recently had dinner there while on vacation. we had such a wonderful dinner that we made reservations for the next night as well. The cullen skink is a must have. A small venue with a great view and wonderful staff.

Couldn't ask for a better place to have my bday dinner. Food was super! Staff was OMG super! They brought me the sweets we ordered with candles on mine and singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Super cute. Place literally on the lake. Thank you again :)

Excellent food, I had the salt cod fritters and the lemon sole! Both were absolutely delicious, probably the best fish I've ever tasted. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

We have been coming to Fort William for the past 3 years and end up eating at Crannog every time. It’s the freshest most beautiful seafood we have tasted, and all ingredients have been carefully selected and thoughtful to compliment the delicious fresh seafood.

Tempting food, rubbish service. Poor service is not made up for by fresh tasty food in my book. So I can’t recommend this beautifully located restaurant. Totally out of place banal music too meant I didn’t want to stay.

Booked here for a mother daughter afternoon with my 8 year old. She loves seafood. Fab food and great staff I had a lovely girl serve us and then a man waiter came to check in on us and took the rest of the order as we decided to have more 😄 So friendly can’t wait to come back.

We were very lucky to get a table at this incredibly popular location! Right on the water with a great view and the food was absolutely delicious, a great end to a day's trek up Ben Nevis! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. We had the Cullen Skink for starter and mussels and lemon sole for mains, with a side of broccoli, all fantastic! All in all, a great experience that is not to be missed 👌🏼

A visit to The Crannog was a special treat for us as we were touring the area on our honeymoon. And we were so glad we booked. I first visited The Crannog 20 years ago and it was still as wonderful as I remembered. Such a beautiful setting on the pier over the water, definitely ask for a table by the window! We watched the sun setting over the mountains and the seagulls while we ate. The food was delicious with a good variety on the menu, perfect portions and all beautifully presented. I had the summer vegetable tart to start and he had the sweet cured herring. We followed with lemon sole and Shetland salmon and finished with honey roasted peaches and pear and elderflower custard tart. All simply wonderful. We received fantastic customer service from friendly staff who all took the time to congratulate us on our wedding. What a great evening, we wish we lived closer so we could visit again sooner.

I've never had crab so fresh or buttered lobster that tasted so rich with flavor! I came to Fort William to hike but the wonderful meal I had at Crannog Seafood Restaurant will very much be a part of my memory of my visit here.

Starters were bland and tasteless. Ordered oat crust hake from the specials menu and the oat crust was burnt and tasted of charcoal. No-one asked us if the meal was good or not. Would not recommend.

Celebrated partners Birthday with a lovely evening dinner our table over looked the sea we had a Crab starter which was delightful followed by the excellent lemon Dover sole which was sheer delight we were really looked after during our meal I know that Crannogs looks after meat eaters as well but it is a Must for fish dwellers!!

Très bon restaurant de poisson avec une vue imprenable sur le Loch. Le seul du centre ville avec cette vue. Réservation quasi obligatoire.

Nice cute place with nice menu. Staff were so nice, my gf booked this place and asked them to write a happy birthday note on our table - to which they obliged. All food on menu looks really good. I overheard there is no kids menu they just make smaller portions of what is on the menu.

Very delicious and fresh seafood. Totally recommend booking here in advance. You will have a great time and meal :)

On the positive side, the manager did let us have a table although we had not made reservations. Very nice of her to do so. However, after we were served a nice salad and ciabatta bread as a starter, we sat, and sat, and SAT for 30 minutes when we were informed that the waitress had forgotten to tell chef we had finished our starters and our main course had not yet been prepared. 20 minutes later, when no food appeared, we walked out.

Was worth the experience, the food and service was 100%, would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Fort William.

I was there in 1991, verry good I had the lobster, best one in scotland. It still looks the same from the outside.

We had a wonderful lunch here. Seefood dishes were fabulous and staffs were really accommodating. If we visit Scotland again, Crannog is definitely a place we want to book again.

Really good food. Sea food was fresh and delicious. There was a good variety to choose from. It's been busy an that that. It's worth it to book a table in advance. I would definitely come back.

Excellent food with great service. All service staff were good but siya was exceptional. She took our dinner order carefully while explaining details of the item. The food presentation and quality was great especially lemon sole.

Crannog I'm afraid did not live up to expectation. Undoubtedly the view is amazing, however my main course of lemon soul to be stuffed with prawns which I could not find, calamari starter was too chewy. When we asked for advice on whiskeys we were told manager was too busy and to be fair restaurant at the time was only half full, overall I wouldn't recommend as quite expensive for what we got and overcharged for items we didn't order.

Ristorante bellissimo. Splendide le vetrate che danno sull'esterno, si mangia veramente molto bene, ottimo il salmone e la zuppa di cozze... Squisita! Vino bianco a calice e dolce alla pesca delizioso.

Conviene reservar, tanto si quieres mesa con vistas al lago como sino. Pescado local y ambiente calido. Muy buenos mejillones, lenguado y vieiras

Direkt am Loch Linnhe gelegenes Restaurant. Toller Blick. Sehr netter Service. Das Essen hat uns gut geschmeckt. Leider waren zwei Weißweine ausverkauft. Das muss nicht passieren.

One of the best meal we had in UK. Loved every dish we ordered especially the cod fish. Staff was very friendly. Place was fully booked and no walk-in allowed on the Friday evening we visited.

As an avid seafood fan, I am amazed at the freshness of their fare. My favourite is ‘Fisherman’s Feast’ - a mixture of fried fish fillets, mussels, a scallop, and a langoustine, swimming in a tomato and veg-based soup. Just beautiful.
