Had takeaways from here many times, all good food, the tikka massala and keema rice are great, its our favourite curry place to go to, tried others and this is the best

Had a takeaway chicken was like rubber so disgusting very different from the meal in we had phoned to compsin didn't even taste like a curry girl wasn't bothered all

takeaway ordered Sunday evening. bagged up and ready when we arrived to collect 30 mins after placing order. pathia and Naga curry spot on, mixed kebab very nice. beautiful garlic coriander nan bread. nice change from our usual will return in the near future

Lovely restaurant, was abit on the busy side for a Friday night, staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent, fresh and tasty. Service was fantastic..would definitely come back.

Always fabulous food. Kitchen happy to adjust spiciness if required. Nice decor. Generous portions, freshly cooked. Been going here for years.

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years plus and never had a single complaint, food is excellent, service is spot on and delivery has always been spot on. Some times in life people have to appreciate how busy the restaurant and the delivery service can be. Its unfortunate that some people have had a bad experience with whatever the reason may be and yes we can all get things wrong at times, but I can safely say this is one of the best local restaurants I have been to. Spot on.

Poor service, food missing, then when it arrived the rest of my food was cold and the missing food was wrong! Told them not to bother they brought the missing food out again even though if asked them not to. I’ve been a few times but I won’t be going again

Very disappointing takeaway tonight - dry onion Bhajis, undercooked, cold garlic naan, dry chicken tikka masala swimming in grease. Not what you expect when paying £40:00 for a family Birthday take out. What a let down!

went down last night and placed our order , told us 30 minutes so nipped next door for a quick drink in the darton tap. mixed kebab was large and good. both curries we thought were excellent. meat naga and chicken pathia Bangladeshi style, garlic rice and 3 chapattis also very good. we hadn't been here for quite a while and on picking up our order the place was really busy. great curry and will definitely come again

Tasteless Bhajis and tasteless curry, I had a chicken dhansak. Friendly and reasonably price...shame about the food!

Asked to sign in on arrival and shown to a table. Not full so social distancing wasn’t a problem, however not one member of staff was wearing their mask/visor correctly. Couldn’t fault the service though. The pickle tray was good and plentiful but the onion bhajis were overcooked and dry. The curries were good as were the sundries. Would we visit again, probably not as there are other Indian restaurants locally which we rate 5*.

We preordered an online takeaway on a Saturday afternoon, went to collect & they hadn’t got the order, despite us having an email confirmation. Had to wait for the order to be cooked, no apology or compensation. Food was good, but loads of hassle & hanging around to get it.

Ordered a very good takeaway from here via JustEat. Delivered on time & piping hot. The Tikka Kerela was especially good & something a bit different. Happy to recommend.

We ordered from here for delivery at 7pm and was told it would arrive in the next hour. Having not arrived we tried to contact however constantly engaged. The food turned up at 10:10pm. Unfortunately by this time it was too late and the family had eaten, so we didn’t accept the food. Definitely no confidence in ordering again.

Food is always nice but never what we order- always order Mutton in any curry but ALWAYS get sent chicken- this has happened at least 3-4 times in the last 3 months! They even did this once when we were in the restaurant- but I was able to complain. Having used them several times for takeaway and wanting to believe it was a one off I’ve given up and will not be using them again.

Have just had another delicious take away from the Balti Palace. Delivery is so quick and food is always piping hot so you know it hasn’t been sat around it’s straight out of the pan and on its way. Portion size is great flavour is amazing and not over expensive. I can’t recommend enough

Came here 3 or 4 years ago and reviewed it with 4 stars (...and been back a few times between then and now). This time, mid pandemic we decided to take advantage of the Governments eat out to help out scheme.... ..... wish we hadn't. Having spent month after month perfecting social distancing, safe practices etc to flatten the curve and save lives this was like a journey back in time to when none of that mattered. No track and trace.... and the place was heaving. Seating was no way 2 mtrs apart, with people milling around there was no pretence of social distancing - no extra cleaning of seating and tables when customers left - in fact no discernable effort at all. There was a hand sanitiser dispenser near the door but no invitation to use it and the staff didn't wear and face coverings or masks at all dispite being up close and peronal to customer after customer after customer.... The food was actually quite good - but if you risk your health to eat it then good luck to you. If we were made of sterner stuff we would have left before we ate. Then we recieved the bill and there was indeed 50% off the meal but not off the £9 for two small bottles of coke ( a bit of a rip off anyway). Queried as to whether non alcoholic drinks should attract 50% off and they should and Im £4.50 better off. Do I believe this was a genuine mistake and they are not pulling a fast one by charging customers and also claiming the money from the Gvt ? I will leave that to you dear reader.... but I wasn't happy. All in all the food was good - but the complete dissregard for any form of pandemic control measures has meant there is no way we will ever be coming back. Shame as we liked the place prior to this....

Best Indian we have had so far in Barnsley, recommended by a friend and we weren't disappointed. Will definitely have either a takeaway or eat in meal again.

Visited Sunday night for a family meal, nice dishes, excellent naan breads and really good attentive friendly service. We also use the take away service as well. Good value for money, we will be back.

The routine is a pint in the Old Coop, a visit to Darton Balti and a final pint in Darton Tap...and you can't go wrong!Been a few times now and never been disappointed with the staff and the food which has a wide range of tastes and flavours. We tend to go for- poppadoms and pickles- mains, rice and naans (usually to share!)- beers and winesFour of us went last week and had all above and bill came to just over £80 which is excellent value. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely return.

As a regular visitor to this unassuming restaurant, it’s easy to take it for granted. I’ve been fortunate enough to sample curries in many Countries and throughout the uk. India, USA, Australia Malaysia, Mauritius....all places serving great curries, but my little local in Darton ranks right at the top! Staff are friendly and efficient and the food is simply sublime! Give it a go; you won’t be disappointed.

Picked up a very good quality takeaway mid week. Friendly staff & food hot & ready in 20 minutes. Royal Mix starter was full of well cooked grilled meats, served with a salad & yoghurt dip. Chicken jalfrezi main was also good.

Been here numerous times and always enjoyed it. This time we decided to try the three course special for a change, and it turned out to be the best ive ever had. The garlic king prawns starter was fantastic followed by a fish balti with the chunks of fish being all white and juicy like it was fresh from the sea..there was seven of us there and all dishes were fantastic. The service was brilliant and the place spotless will definately be back again soon... if youre visiting on a wednesday you definately need to book

We’ve not had a meal from here for ages, but glad we tried them again on a Friday evening. When we collected the takeaway the restaurant was packed.

The food was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. The staff were miserable. Service was slow as was the waiter folding up napkins on the next table ....it was painful to watch. Will probably not be going there again....🤔

Just been thinking. We’ve been to Balti Palace in Darton nearly every week for goodness knows how many years and this is why!

After nearly two hours of waiting we had to leave without our main courses. Loads of people waiting - spilling over into restaurant. No food appears out of kitchen except takeaway and poppadoms.

Six middle aged football lads who’d had a belly full of beer enjoyed one of the best curry’s in ages. Vindaloo was spot on as were the naan breads. The staff were great (and patient) as well 🍺🤦‍♂️👍 Will be visiting again shortly. 100%.

Visited for the first time Sunday 13th January ‘19.

This is one of our favourite places to eat. Always had good quality food, service and atmosphere. Staff very polite and helpful. Dishes superb and a good variety. Will definitely keep going back

Went mid week as a group.. had special offer 3 courses and pickle tray .. food was absolutely amazing .. all fresh weren’t waiting long .. very pleasant waiters defiantly recommend will be back again

Four of us called in for the Sunday Buffet having recently returned from a holiday in India. We were suffering curry deprivation. Not for long though. The food was good and very reasonably priced. Will call again

We've been 3 times before and enjoyed it . Not tonight !!!! Surly uncommunicative waiter. What would you recommend with the main course? No answer , well? Rice or Nan? Peshwari Nan No thank you We'll have a garlic naan. When it came it was half cooked. Returned it to be replaced with a 3/4 cooked one.No apology. Didn't send it back. Will not be returning for a while

Been here several times most of the time theres ten or more of us which is never a problem. Staff are always courteous and helpful, the food is always great quality which is why we visit alot!!!

It was my first visit on Saturday and I thoroughly enjoyed it, there was 4 of us so had a good mix of curries and sundries and all of them were delicious! The only thing i would say was hat the staff did not come across as friendly or helpful but wouldn't stop me returning again!

Me and my partner went here for an anniversary meal, it was quite busy and quite cramped seating wise. Staff were friendly, I remember one in particular taking our order and being a bit off he must of been having a bad day. Food was tasty but not as good as other Indian restaurants we’ve found in Barnsley. Remember it been pricey but overall was a nice change from our usual.

We have been coming here since the day it opened but recently it has been noticeably going downhill and tonight was the worst service we have experienced and the food was mediocre at best.

Been a few times before. The food is always good quality and tasty. But on this occasion the service was a let down. Yes I know it's was a Saturday evening. But Sat there for about 20 mins. No one asked if we wanted a drink or order food . Finally I got there attention and from then on everything was ok

We have been here on numerous occasions. The food is well prepared and very tasty and nothing is too much trouble for Amir and his staff - it's well worth a visit!

Great service, great atmosphere and great food. Fab choice of menu ,all the usual but with good fresh flavours. Been a few times now to check the consistency, will be going again.

We have been here loads of times and always enjoyed it. Went tonight and although the food was it's usual delicious standard the service wasn't great and it didn't seem to be as clean and tidy as it usually is.

Went recently with work colleagues for the midweek deal, which we do regularly. Food is always top notch, had the royal mixed kebab, garam bangla and a chilli naan this time with a couple of pints of Mongoose. Service is always efficient. Will be back again soon.

Its been a while since we ate here but popped in yesterday and really enjoyed our curries. We tried the special Tuesday/Wednesday offer. Staff seem to have changed and some were either new or just did not know much about what they were doing but all in all still as good as ever

We have been having a curry "out" just about every other week and decided to give this place a try....

Party of 3 arrived just before closing time. Staff were very accommodating. Due to turning up quite late just had main course with a few extras. Chicken Balti was best I've had for many years. Compliments to the chef. Service was very good, waiter had good knowledge of menu. Would recommend and will be back. Well done .

We love our indian food...visited here around 3 months ago & it was enjoyable so decided to try again last night (aug 3rd).We had pickle tray to start with...popadoms weren't the best...were slightly soft so obviously not cooked fresh.Had the mixed starter for 2...the side salad could have passed as cabbage!!Then for main course..had a chicken dish which was only ok ..not alot of chicken in tho,we also had lamb bhuna.....basically it was like rubber...when the waiter came to ask if everything was ok...i said i have had better & told him about the lamb...he tried telling me it was a tikka dish which isn't as soft as normal lamb dishes...what a load of rubbish!!! Then he told me he would tell the chef for NEXT TIME.....i don't think so....won't be coming back...

Another great curry love Darron Balti, for mains we had chicken tikka and chicken korai. The tikka had so much flavour and the korai was HOT. So good still my favourite in Darron

Great meal as always can never fail visiting here. Wonderful food and so clean and tidy surrounding. Staff were attentive and not in your face they were polite and nothing too much trouble. This place is a little diamond in Darton. Shush keep.it secret we don't want it spoiling.

This is the best Indian for miles, the food is delicious and full of flavor. The Lamb Rogan josh in particular is excellent. I made a mistake with my order and the staff were incredibly helpful and couldn't do enough to sort it out. I will definitely be visiting again soon.

I have been visiting this restaurant since 2007 and I always enjoy the experience. The food is excellent and the service is always superb. As someone who is not a local myself - it was recommended in 2007 and I have returned to eat there every time I'm in the area. It is only about 10 minutes from Yorkshire Sculpture Park and if you are visiting the park I would recommend it for a night out. Great food - great value.

My wife and friends booked at this restaurant for the first time today. The service was excellent and the food was even better. The onion bahji were lovely and crispy and very tasty too. We had a selection of main courses from mild to quite hot and all were very good. We all enjoyed our meal, but sadly there were none left for our friends dog as it was so nice. We (the men) consumed a few beers along the way and yet with a reasonable tip we were happy with the bill. I feel another trip to this establishment is on the cards.

We called in on a busy Saturday night whilst visiting friends who live in Darton. We only had to wait a few minutes to be seated and a waiter took our drinks order.The food was superb and the portions generous. The waiters were attentive and the food and drinks were served promptly. Reasonable prices too. Cannot fault the place.

We have eaten here regularly both at large functions where the management provided a buffet and with friends and family.....never fail to impress. Well done Balti house staff......polite and professional in all areas.....the chef is amazing.

Stunning food staff very friendly wouldn't hesitate to return service excellent although my only criticism is unless you specify service can be a liitle rushed although we requested a nice break between starters and mains I suppose when it's late at night and you just want a curry after a night out but when your wanting to make a night of it .But again can't fault the food quality.

Family meal tonight consisting 4 adults and this restaurant never fails in any department. Service is polite, helpful and prompt. Food is amazing , bar service is excellent, prices are excellent and value for money. Onion bhaji are to die for as is everything else. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone .

Lovely restaurant, friendly staff, delicious starters & really good flavours to the main courses. Have only one negative - the mushroom Balti is spoilt by using tinned mushrooms rather than fresh. The sauce is to die for - but chewing on rubbery mushrooms spoilt the whole meal. Maybe its cost saving - but increase the price slightly & use fresh !

Beautiful food, Best Indian in the area by far!! Food always hot and nice and the staff can't do enough for you!! Owner Amir is such a pleasant man just like his staff. Would reccomend the Balti for any occasion. Can honestly say I wont eat at any other. Nice to see the staff amd manager have such a great bond aswell don't see this very often!! Well done guys keep it up ☺ X

Been living in the area for several months now and been here 4/5 times. Love the food , staff and service excellent.

really like it here the staff are lovely and helpful the food very good I don't really like rice or chips so had my main course with salad which wasn't any problem even though it wasn't on the menu only the side salad

Amir and the staff opened up for us for our wedding vow renewal reception he allowed us to decorate the place and offered us an excellent buffet meal. All our guest enjoyed themselves and many who had not been before said they would be coming in for a meal based on the quality of the food they'd had. I would recommend this place to anyone the quality of food and service is brilliant.

Absolutely brilliant this place !! Best curry I have ever eaten by far. Friendly atmosphere for all ages and types. Child friendly too. Licensed restaurant serves a wide range of beverages and lots of choice on the menu. Staff are great, has parking. Great prices too. I recommend this place to everyone.

Went last night for the first time, Was absolutely fantastic from start to finish,the staff were so helpful couldn't do enough for you, the starter's were amazing as was the main course, and very decent portions, the whole ambience is good nice decor and lovely clean toilets. Definitely going back. .. Probably the best in Barnsley area now.

Fantastic Indian restaurant, best onion bhajis great service from the guys in the restaurant. Is a favourite for us.

Evening meal. One Chilli Chicken sizzler and one Garlic Chicken. We do hot, but the chilli was extreme, instant facial sweats. My wife loves garlic and the amount made for a poor meal. It's a shame really, as the restaurant is of a nice size and the decor and ambience is good. Although staff lack personality. May be better for knowing, but with the food we had, I don't think we'll be regulars.

Excellent food, the Tuesday deal is the best value around as its anything from the menu, you get a starter, main, rice or naan and a coffee for £9.95.

Had a great takeaway from here a few weeks ago, so I decided to get another one. This time Lamb Biriyani, which was tasty as before, but the lamb itself was terrible. Hard, tasteless & nearly impossible to chew. If it wasn't a takeaway, I would have sent it back.Maybe there are some inconsistencies at this restaurant??

this place is our little gem in Darton. The food is great and the staff lovely have not had a bad meal there would highly recommend.

We thought we'd try somewhere new as we had heard good things. They have lots of regulars and had lots of people collecting takeaway orders.We were 20 minutes late to be seated despite there being lots of empty tables. Service was excellent once we were seated and the pickle tray phenomenal. The starters were average.The sundries were fine although the naan bread wasn't up to expectations. I suffered with stomach ache afterwards but that may have been due to my main which was swimming in oil. I'm not adverse to a bit of heat and my main had a bit of a kick so that was good.Overall disappointed with the experience.

We use this restaurant on a regular basis having tried others they don't compare to here in my opinion. I have never had a bad meal and would recommend it to anyone.

Went for my parents birthday meal just the 3 of us. rang at 5.45pm for a table at 7.00pm & got straight in was a bit weary about this but wasn't disappointed the food came quick & was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Always our choice of Indian cuisine. We go regularly and have takeaways. Great food, service and reasonable pricing. Also has a good atmosphere.

I haven't eaten here for a couple of years, as my previous visit wasn't great. Decided to give them another try & seriously glad I did.My lamb Biriyani & Aloo Gobi were both excellent. With Royal Spice causing them serious competition, they have seriously upped their game.

had a great night at the Darton Balti,my granddaughter's 21st,the party of 12 was served with pleasant waiter's ,the décor is very nice and spotlessly clean.food is very good and very reasonably priced.All in all the night was a great success and I recommend this very good restaurant we will be visiting the Darton Balti again in the near future
