Beautiful restaurants, cozy but not cramped, lovely staff and amazing food.

Amazing little Japanese restaurant. Great sushi, great ramen. Everything was delicious and fresh. Also does takeaway but inside is very friendly and welcoming with lovely service.

Clearly a sushi restaurant primarily. I probably shouldn't have come here, as I'm not really into sushi. Anyway, unsurprisingly, the Tori Kara and Pork Ramen are way, way underseasoned- they quite literally tasted of close to nothing at all.

Love it here, a real Harrogate gem. Food is fantastic and Ruby on front of house is amazing.

This is my first taste of Japanese food and my first taste of restaurant fish (and in this case, eel) so I cannot judge the flavour too much, Id say it was nice but I'd need to try more to say whether I actually like it too much or not. aside from that, waiter was exceptionally nice, atmosphere was good, bit expensive but I went in expecting that. Overall, good first go, will be back for more.

We ate here on Saturday night. The staff are very nice and knowledgeable about the sushi, and the food was amazing. I would recommend trying the Seapearl- it was delicious. The prices are also very reasonable for the high quality sushi and variety offered.

Had lunch today at Domo. We tried the Maki rolls, duck spring rolls, bbq duck and chicken katsu. The food and service were fantastic, everything home made. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

This was our first time in DOMO and pretty much first proper Japanese cuisine experience and oh my! Absolutely delicious dishes, freshly prepared, lovely atmosphere, great service and overall 5 stars place! Highly recommend! We shall be back, thank you!

Have just returned from a fantastic evening out with friends that ended up at Domo. From entering, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. As none of the group had been there before, we could have been taken advantage of however the staff really looked after us with lots of advice and suggestions on what to order. The food that arrived was, piping hot and of the highest order and was full of flavour. The staff were attentive without being over bearing. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. A real hidden gem

We've eaten here 5 or 6 times and the food is always exceptional. It's our go to for special occasions and there is no other restaurant that serves Japanese cuisine in Yorkshire (or probably outside of London or Edinburgh) that even comes close. Expect to wait longer than average for the sushi to come out but the wait is always very much worth it. The hot dishes and sides often come out quicker.

Visited on Saturday 7th December 2024 at 6:15pm for the first time. Excellent, friendly service. Great ambience. The menu was superb. Highly recommended. We will be taking our adult children next time. Thank you for a perfect meal.

Arrived in Harrogate Friday for a week and left Glasgow early so I could eat lunch at Domo. Enjoyed steak bento box. Wonderful staff who always remember me and greet me so well. Paid another visit a few days later for the salmon bento box. Great food,great staff . Look forward to seeing you next time. Shelley

We got a last minute booking for this little place after finding our hotel food was a disappointment and what an utterly delightful find! The food was incredible, the staff efficient and friendly and there was a really nice warm buzz about the place. Can’t believe how lucky we were to find and eat here and only wish we lived closer so we could come here again. Thank you for a great meal!

We have been to Domo a few times and the food there was delicious and fresh. The service and atmosphere were also brilliant. Domo is now our restaurant to go in Harrogate, my daughter and husband definitely approve too. We definitely recommend it!

Based on all of the positive reviews, I was ready for a delicious meal! But with every dish we tried I was becoming more and more disappointed 😓 The miso soup contained trace amounts of tofu and seaweed. The spicy squid was rather chewy and not particularly spicy. The cake selection tasted like something you can buy in a supermarket. The only highlight was the staff who were very attentive, quick, and polite 🌟

I absolutely love this place. Definitely one to book as gets busy and is small. Whenever we’re in Harrogate we come here. The yakimono grill is beautifully cooked meat and sauce, the salmon on all of the sushi was so soft - on the nigiri and red tiger roll in particular. Similarly priced to our favourite Sushi in Newcastle. The staff were attentive and polite and all very efficient. Would 100% recommend.

I fall in love with Japan's food, which is called Teryaki sauce, along with chicken ones. It is a very nice place to eat with your partner or your family. Or, maybe on your own. I recently subscribed to Japan Crate for having their snacks, and I loved them.

All round one of the best experiences in a restaurant I’ve had. I had the salmon teriyaki with steamed rice, king prawn tempura and some nigiri sushi. The salmon was delicious and I am now wanting to eat more salmon it was that good. The tempura was crunchy but melted like butter, just perfection truly. The presentation of the food was amazing, the chef obviously loves their job because it shows in all the details. The service was friendly and homey, I felt like I was welcomed into someone’s family home for a family meal, I felt so welcome. My partner and I were looking for somewhere to celebrate our anniversary. we both love experiencing other cultures, one of our favourites being Japanese culture, but it’s hard to find anywhere that isn’t chain restaurants. Not anymore. This will be our go to for Anniversary celebrations and other special occasions.

We picked this restaurant as it was a short walk from the Turkish Baths & the food was amazing. We had one of the sushi sets, the cake board & tofu for starter - everything was really tasty & nicely presented!

Tremendous, delicious food. We rang in a takeaway order and the staff were very helpful and kind over the phone. Everything was packed well for the trip home, with broth and sauces separate from the mains. I've really struggled to find good Japanese food since moving to Britain and this might be my favourite meal here. I had the pork bone broth char siu ramen and it was amazing!

It was very quite when we first arrived but later it got busy , the food eas gorgeous but I asked the waitress about a sauce that I had & she hadn't a clue about it.

Excellent Japanese food. Very friendly service, and a relaxed but engaging atmosphere. London quality but not London prices - very reasonable.

We had two meals here while in Harrogate for a few days, both were excellent. The food was great, the staff were lovely and it was very reasonably priced. The sushi and the many hot dishes we tried were delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to return or to recommend.

Finally booked a table after mentioning it a few times, unfortunately the table service was poor, think it was down to it being busy, but if that's the case employ more staff or don't book out every table (work within your capabilities), food was okay.

Went for dinner last night and it was our first visit to Domo. The food was really tasty and worth a wait. We ordered sushi and some appetizers, the restaurant was full and the food took a little longer than expected but we were pre warned. Good service, reasonable prices, lovely food. I'd only say the atmosphere could have been a little better, maybe some music or different type of lighting but we were happy with our experience overall.

My partner and I have been to domo many times and the service and food never disappoints. We love that it’s a great local business and hope more people come to try the food!!

Strongly recommended; this is one of our favourite restaurants in the area. It never disappoints - the food is incredible, staff very friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant itself is an intimate setting beautifully decorated. We are moving away from the area so visited for the last time a few days ago and it lived up to our usual expectations. We particularly love the sushi boats, miso soup, spicy squid, salmon teriyaki and the Ramune Japanese soda drinks they offer (these are great fun!). We will miss Domo but hopefully will visit again at some point. (Photos from multiple visits!!)

Nice atmosphere, took a while to get any food. Sadly very limited for vegan (menu outside is misprinted) And some items weren’t available. Curried vegetable and udon soup could be made vegan. Realistically the only vegan main option. I’m sorry, but stir fried vegetables and rice is not a main meal.

Once again, superb. A quick lunch with my daughters (7/11) who insist on trying new things while also re-ordering Domo classics. We much enjoyed: * Miso * Bento box with Korean BBQ beef (listed as spicy, but I'd rate it as medium (just right)) * Tempura vegetables * Chicken yaki soba noodles * Salmon nigiri * Chicken gyoza All excellent as ever. Lovely staff who welcomed us as returning customers and made us all feel most welcome. :)

Lovely meal, lots of choice maybe too much! Staff very friendly but it was very busy and service was a lot slower than I'd normally expect. My wife's salmon teriyaki was lovely and sizzling hot but my beef noodles were a bit lukewarm. Nice Japanese whisky but only two choices, Suntory Toki was good. Recommend the Gyoza as a starter.

We visited DOMO recently for a family get together, and as always the food and service was amazing. One of our favourite dishes is Volcano and we would highly recommend it to anybody visiting. I would also like to say thank you to all the staff, because they are all so friendly and welcoming. 😊

I first went nearly a year ago and have come back very often. Every time I have family or friends visiting, I insist on bringing them here. They love it, and I love it too. It’s definitely my favourite restaurant from my favourite cuisine.

We ate outside. Service was outstanding. We're veg and got some great suggestions. Food was a delight. We"ll be back.

Absolutely lovely restaurant with outstanding staff, the food was incredible, well worth the price. I would highly recommend the Teryaki Salmon and Volcano Sushi Rolls. Very quiet and relaxing with calming background music. If I could give more stars I would, definitely a must if you have never been before.

This is a gourmet restaurant hidden in a small city. The moment you enter the door, you feel like you are in a small restaurant in Japan. The atmosphere here is great, the service is very enthusiastic, and when you have questions, the waiter will explain to you about the food on the menu. I chose the teppanyaki teriyaki chicken and the char siu ramen pork bone soup. It is hard to imagine trying the very Japanese teriyaki sauce and char siu in the UK. It's a pity that I forgot to take a photo. I hope I will have a chance to visit this place next time I come.

Don't normally post poor reviews, however. Was ignored upon arrival, after I got a seat, took over 10mins for anyone to ask me if I wanted a drink. Chef was watching something on his phone with the volume so loud it was disrupting everyone's meal. Then Chef, lit a cigarette behind the counter in plain view of everyone, and proceeded to walk into the kitchen smoking! Food was ok, portions were very small for even start portions. Won't go back, especially given the hygiene concerns.

Disappointed. We visited Domo based on reviews expecting something good. Upon arrival, without a booking, they had enough room for us, however had run out of sushi for the evening. The food and service was underwhelming. The table hadn't been set, we were only given a single fork, and had to grab cutlery from other tables ourselves. The portions were small for the price, especially the chicken yakisoba which contained very little meat. The staff were disinterested and the kitchen seemed understocked for the amount of customers that evening. Hopefully just an off night for them but won't be returning.

The taste of food is not quite authentic, service is not good.

The restaurant definitely suffers from being severely understaffed. As sushi lovers, we've tried a lot of it throughout the world, and here it's quite average but does the job. However, the food gave both my husband and myself stomach ache... The real problem is that the restaurant is very small and gets overcrowded and very noisy. The food comes out sporadically and we had to wait for around 45 minutes to an hour for it. We were warned by the waitress but at that point we had no choice cause it was too late to go somewhere else and we had booked the day before. The ladies working there try really hard, to the point where I felt very bad for them because they were obviously highly stressed, literally running around, trying to please too many people at once. This is not sustainable and seems like a very stressful environment. As a customer, I come to a restaurant to relax and enjoy the meal, not have people running hectically next to me. I also don't like to see staff so overstretched. Thank you for the effort, we did appreciate your politeness. We hope you can get more staff to support your business cause you definitely need it. Finally, please don't do Deliveroo if you have one chef and your customers in the restaurant have to wait an hour? Something's got to give. Other places pause Deliveroo when they are very busy.

Food is ok. Service is really good. Atmosphere is not authentic and decor is mildly offensive like somebody just Googled "Japanese stuff". It's still a comfy dining experience, but too slow to be considered Japanese style. That said, the staff is really friendly and attentive. Honestly I don't think most people will notice the cons of this spot unless they've actually spent some time in Japan. Four stars because I still think it's the best around.

Wow! Just wow! When you google something different and think ah they close in an hour? Stuff it let’s go! Husband and I, lovely wine and beer, the food…. It’s a long time as a couple in hospitality can say that this food was nice or lovely, but outstanding! The pumpkin croquettes my husband ordered I thought personally was weird but no! They were bloody lovely! I had the teriyaki chicken, super tasty and tender and even the sesame seeds were toasted! Mains husband went for duck I had the steak, waitresses said a customer had mentioned the duck was tough….. pppffftt no it was not! Both exceptionally good! The egg fried rice with mushrooms… not heard of that before, could have eaten bowls of it! I will and husband agrees would drive an hour from where we live for this food! Staff were excellent, chatty and very knowledgable! 100/100 from us!

Exceptional sushi. Nice presentation and high quality made fresh in house. Staff were friendly and welcoming and able to assist with menu recommendations and suggestions. Wait time wasn't long for service and food comes to the table in an "as its ready" fashion. We had an early doors table so the restaurant was a little quiet, however people I was with stated when its busy its a very good atmosphere inside Would definitely recommend, well worth 5 stars.

We went here one evening without booking but we’re still able to be seated. The food was unbelievable, genuinely some of the best Japanese cuisine I’ve ever eaten, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning the next time I’m in Harrogate, but I’d suggest booking to not have any kind of time restraint as it gets busy.

Some of the best Japanese food we’ve had in the area. Great veggie options - the gyoza are delicious, as is the vegetable katsu curry! The only downside was the somewhat stressful atmosphere, especially as we were sitting by the counter.

I had never eaten sushi prior to this occasion, so my boyfriend and I happened upon this lovely restaurant in the heart of Harrogate. We tried pretty much everything on the sushi menu and every dish tasted divine and was presented beautifully. Such a fantastic first experience of Japanese cuisine. I can't wait to bring the rest of the family here. Please visit this little gem, will definitely be back!!!

Stumbled across this little place while out for a walk and decided to try it that evening. Managed to book a table no issues mid week although we probably could have walked in off the street. Chose a selection of sushi, honey ribs, a salmon teriyaki dish and bbq pork with rice and all of it was delicious. Service was quick and they had a good choice of Japanese beers. Finished the evening off with a mochi dessert which was usual but tasty. The staff were super friendly and chatty and made us feel quite welcome. We enjoyed it so much that we’re planning a return in the next few days.

Wonderful experience, really tasty food! We had a table for 6 ages 12-38 at 5pm, it was nice and quiet at that time, the food arrived as it was ready and very hot! Everyone enjoyed their meals and the staff were lovely 👍

Really amazing! Super tasty and not just for sushi lovers... I dragged my husband along who is not a fan and he loved the selections we made; tempura wasabi prawns and soft shell crab to start (he's not a fan of wasabi and loved the prawns, so a win!) and then some amazing noodles and 2 other dishes for main, along with a couple of Japanese beers each. The flavours, quality and service were all outstanding - fresh prawns and really cannot fault anything... fabulous and we'll be back. Happy to recommend. Thank you.

A small, tucked away Japanese restaurant with attentive and super friendly staff with delicious choices of foods. We had quite the selection and it went down a treat! Would recommend and if we venture to Harrogate again, we will make sure to revisit.

We read a few reviews online prior to our visit and the ones we read were all very good so we decided to give it a go. It was my partners birthday so we went on the Thursday night. It wasn’t too busy but had a decent amount of people in already. The hostess was very friendly and came to us immediately and showed us to our seats. She handed us the menu and explained a few things and gave us time to look and make our own choice for the food we wanted. When it came it was very delicious and we was very impressed with the speed in which it arrived The staff were very friendly and were very helpful I would highly recommend this restaurant
