Friends get together .Confusing menu.Why put appetisers on a deal menu when they’re not included in the deal .Totally bizarre. Chicken Milanese unavailable-again 🤷‍♀️.Obviously a popular dish so either order or prepare more.2 diners had to order alternative dishes .Bill arrived , including £22 service charge. Showed the hostess the 25% off voucher code and the bill was adjusted by just £8 . We understand that the 25% off was just on mains but there was 5 of us. All ordered a main courses- plus starters ,drinks and desserts .I wanted to question the bill but as our friend was paying for everything as a treat ,she didn’t want to make a fuss .Food was very nice. There did seem to be a lot of diners questioning their bill too .

Just stopped off by chance for lunch, There was a two course deal on , so we gave it a whirl the wife had Pate starter and Fish Cakes for main , I had Garlic mushrooms and Sirloin Steak for main, and Surprisingly I was Very Impressed, Thank you 👍👍👍

Amazing food. Couldn't fault anything. We had the 2 courses for 2 people @ £30. The portions were big, and very tasty. Looking forward to the next visit. Thank you Lorraine for looking after us

I feel sad writing this review I’ve been here a few times now my son’s 16th birthday! wow the wait and service was not the best…so went last night it was my birthday so used the voucher starter was lovely ..main dripped in sauce wait was long again. Asked for the dessert menu she forgot to bring it waitress seemed fed up that’s how she looked it’s good to have a break in between courses but after our last visit I made sure I had a snack just in case I was starving hungry ! I don’t know what’s happened but just doesn’t seem the same ..would I go again. Probably if I had a voucher, would I recommend the answer ? I’m not sure I would !

Benji was an excellent host. The restaurant itself was really well presented and the food was delicious. If I had to make any complaint it would be about the Moroccan Lamb. There were two of us who ordered and there were only 3 very small bits of lamb in each. It tasted amazing but should have been called Moroccan Aubergine instead. Overall, very good

Having booked in advance for family meal, once seated was advised the lack of food availability, then told lunch menu not available, also the Thursday kebab offer. Also couldn't use the January offer. The whole experience took 2.5hrs for 1 course meal and extremely expensive. A carton of kids apple juice is £3.65. Whilst I appreciate issues with supply the restaurant should of contacted us prior to advise and certainly should of pre informed that offers not available. Perhaps due to lack of choice etc. would of expected the offers at the very least. Poor customer service

Very disappointing, found a piece of elastic string attached to the beef. When pointed it out to the waitress, she went to tell the chef who just apologised and said it was off the fillet of beef. Carrots were raw hard to cut. Only had beef no other roast available, no parsnips. Would not recommend for Sunday lunch.

Been here 3 times as a couple, the first was amazing! October 2024, great service, great portion sizes and great quality food! Decided this was our new fave restaurant in Ellesmere Port! 2nd time (Dec 2024) service wasn't great at all, our starter and wine were given to a table next to ours, we thought it was odd as we were sat and served before they were, the waitress didnt notice and we sat for a good half hour waiting until we decided to ask and they realised - then they brought our starters and forgot our wine so we got up and asked again, finally brought the wine and main meals and told us our fries would be on the way but we had to ask again as it seems they forgot us again. Jan 2025, our 3rd visit and the food has taken a huge hit. Halloumi kebab (had this the 1st and 2nd time - spot on) was underdone, looked as though it had been microwaved, my partner had the duo of pork (had 1st visit) and the portion size was tiny compared to previous visit. Pork was dry, gone in a few bites and the potato side was so thin. Holding on to our first amazing visit when there wasnt a bad thing to say, a real shame for a restaurant with great potential - just something for management to look in to as it really is a nice restaurant!

Went to ego for the first time very impressed the staff were totally on the ball and very polite. The food was nothing short of excellent I had the fillet steak and my girlfriend had the Moroccan lamb both were top notch best pub lunch I have had for a long time have booked for this Sunday can't wait lorraine was fantastic

I had such a lovely time when I visited Ego. Lisa was so friendly from the moment myself and my family walked in. She greeted us at the door with a lovely smile and made us feel so welcome. All the staff were lovely, but I massive shout out to Lisa who would be walking around the restaurant, serving drinks, greeting customers, taking food to tables, taking orders. She didn’t stop whilst we were there. She really is an asset to Ego!!!! When we left we wanted to thank her and we got chatting to her at the door, she was honestly so so so lovely and you could tell all her staff respected and liked her. They are all like one big happy family and that really does shine out to the customers. I will 100% be coming back regularly due to the food of course but mainly the staff, I haven’t been to a restaurant in a long long time and had staff, especially Lisa make you have such a wonderful experience like this! What an absolute credit to Ego she is!

The night we went was a very busy evening Christmas 🎄 parties 🥳 on the go.we was a party of six but over all good the staff where very nice and very busy

Food was reasonable but not exceptional as some of the dishes were only just warm. Service was slow with some staff being far more attentive than others who appeared as if they didn’t want to be there. When the bill was presented it was incorrect with a 10% service charge already included which we declined to pay. Overall a very average dining experience that we won’t be in a rush to do again.

No words really. Sat waiting for nearly an hour when quiet. Ended up walking out, several tables around also complaining for poor food. Service was also terrible. No apologises. Avoid at all costs!

Went here with my family on Christmas Eve expecting a decant meal food was barely edible and no one enjoyed any of it service was really slow drinks took around 25 minutes to arrive staff were okay but didn’t really want to be there Wich was obviouse to see and since I’ve got home I’ve been stuck on the toilet as the food has made me really ill

Good food, friendly staff who took care of our very chaotic large table (10 adults and 4 kids) All the food came out around the same time, was hot without any issues! Would book and eat here again.

Visited with my parents to celebrate a special occasion. The whole experience was terrible we ordered our food and waited an hour before I went to ask the waitress where our food was. I was advised that the chef had burnt one of the steaks and the other dishes were ready I asked why they didn’t bring everyone else’s dishes over and apologise for the burnt steak. 15 mins later the rest of our tables food arrived unfortunately one of the other steaks was burnt so had to be sent back. Eventually two new steaks arrived and were ok but the enjoyment of us all going out to eat together had gone. Even though we were given a discount on the bill we wouldn’t ever visit again.

Lovely little pub, food was nice but asked for my steak rare and it was medium. Staff were very attentive until the main course, it was very busy and seemed to be 2 large groups so the staff were rushed off their feet. Our mains took a long time to come and chips on one of the meals were cold so may have been sitting for a while. Nice cosy pub, but too busy with not enough staff for a Saturday lunch time!

Arrived here on sunday after coming back from Manchester as we were all keen for a roast. On arrival the place was busy, we were early so were told there would be a wait due to our table still being occupied which was of no problem. We got told at 5:45pm there was no roasts left along with no lamb koftas, we were taken by surprise as it doesn’t state a time on the menu as to when the roasts stop so if they’re to be ran until 8pm then there should be enough meat ordered incase they run out of their supply early on- this isn’t the first time running out of roast dinners on a Sunday has been mentioned either. It is understood that it may be more busy than usual due to the shopping complex around the corner and people doing their Christmas markets however, this is not an excuse at to why roast dinners are out of stock when no exact time is specified. It got worse.. We were seated by a lovely welcoming lady who looked to be the manager, at this point no other menu items were mentioned than the above as being out of stock. We all decided what we were ordering after changing our initial plans. When the waitress came to take our orders she then informed us that there were no skin on fries left. Again, how can you run out of fries when this was early on in the evening, it affected peoples meal choices once again and was not impressed that this was something as simple as ‘fries’. We had a long wait for food however, it was all cooked fresh and was piping hot, thank god! The positives were that the food was hot and freshly made along with our waitress- so sorry I didn’t catch your name (blonde girl with pink French tip nails) she was probably up there with one of the best waitresses we have ever had serve us and we eat out regularly, you were a credit to the team and really went out of your way to accommodate us. This restaurant definitely lacks in customer service compared to our local- Shrewsbury, I’d return if improvements were made.

Didn’t enjoy the lunch at all , food was bland & had to wait for service , gravy arrived at different times . this resulted in food being cold , then we had to wait 40minutes for dessert to arrive as we were having the 2course lunch .

Fantastic experience! The staff always, including Lorraine provide wonderful service, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrive. The live music adds a great atmosphere, and the food is delicious—highly recommend

We went here on 28 March 2024 for a celebration dinner. Disappointed that wine was served in brandy glasses because they'd run out of clean wine glasses. Early on a Thursday evening run out of Moroccan Lamb Kebabs, on what is supposed to be Kebab night. My wife was served up fish instead of the chicken that was ordered, by the time the order was corrected I'd almost finished my course. Then instead of the chicken being served with rice it came with mashed potato. The garlic mushroom starter though was absolutely delicious.

Lovely place to stop for lunch, dog friendly with a lovely treat station with water bowls and snacks. Food was lovely, couldn't fault it, staff all so friendly and helpful. Great value for money, will definitely visit again soon.

We visited Saturday evening. The restaurant was extremely busy, but that didn't affect the service or the quality of food. The staff are always amazing, Ego Stanney Oaks is our favourite restaurant We love the kebabs, always hot and tasty. Keep up the great work. We will be back soon.

Our 33rd wedding anniversary yesterday. Went here for a lunch time meal to celebrate. Food was good, service was excellent, staff very friendly, price was good. Will come here again

Staff & Garlic Bread lovely .... However we had to wait over 45 minutes for our meal... It was taken out 15 mins previous then put back while my partners Chicken Kebab was waiting under heated lamp going dry.... Lamb finally arrived overcooked.... Simon's fries dry , well rock hard due to being under Lamp so long.... Will never go back!

We (2 dinners) arrived around 2 pm for lunch, quickly seated and opted for the 3 course fix price lunch. Ordered our drinks, waited and made our choices, order taken. Reminded server about drinks, waited ...drinks arrived. Starters arrived 5 minutes later. Calamari nice with garnish. Garlic mushrooms with bread. The bread was burnt on the base, the garlic was far too strong ( I cook with fresh garlic in my kitchen, there is a balancing act that needs to be correct, not tasting it until the following day) no check from server to ask if food ok. Dishes cleared away.... asked for another round of drinks. Took quite a while for drinks to arrive. 1 bar staff 2 servers.... 1 guy drinking at the bar. Mains arrived eventually, chef forgot to put the pot of tartare sauce on fishcake plate, asked for it, waited, asked again, sauce arrived. Again heavy garlic on the pasta linguine. Picked our desserts choices...with a coffee. Dessert arrived no coffee, reminded staff, asked for bill, bill arrived. The servers had gone for break and bar staff was left to give coffee. Coffee was cold we were fed up chasing staff. It was now 3.30pm The bill was folded over with total showing and l went to bar to pay. Not happy, I know this brand and eaten elsewhere with no issues. Paid bill and left, checked bill much later when emptying receipts out of wallet and a 10% service charge had been added to the bill for 2 dining. My fault I guess for not checking receipt properly, I'm used to 8 dinners or more having a service charge. Not 2 pensioners, who normally tip if the food and service was good, this was not worth the £5.37 tip or "service charge". Bread burnt, no tartare sauce, cold coffee, heavy hand on the garlic mushrooms and pasta linguine. We were thinking of returning, however there are plenty of places to eat in the area.

Came here for the first time since its changeover. It's very clean, no sticky tables or floors, the ambience is amazing, the plants, the lighting, the decor gives it a modern spacious feel. The lunchtime menu is cheaper from the normal menu and goes to Monday to Saturday from 11 to 5 pm. Also, cocktails were two for the price of one. The cocktail range was good, initially ordered a bellini, but the cocktail was weak, this was mentioned to the waiting staff, and they added extra syrup. Foodwise ordered fish and chips, and this was really tasty, even the mushy peas and tartare sauce. The pizza with spice and pepperoni was very spicy and full of flavour. The tomato sauce used tasted like quality rich sundried tomato paste. For desserts, the apple pie with cinnamon and custard was good, the pastry soft and the apples tart. The cinnamon flavour just was not noticeable. The chocolate brownie with ice cream was average, just could not pick the ice cream flavour. Staff were professional and very helpful and polite. Would recommend this as a place to visit. With two main courses, sweet potato fries, two cocktails, 1.5 pints of Amstel beer the total cost was approximately £55. Plenty of parking and worth visiting after Cheshire Oaks as its quiter than most of the eateries nearby.

My friends salmon fishcakes were very overcooked, they were replaced by slightly better ones. I ordered fish, chips and pea puree, fish was spot on but the chips & pea puree cold, couldn't be bothered to tell the waitress because I guess when I got the dish back the fish would have been cold. BUT the puds were fantastic I had rhubarb & gin crumble & my friend had a chocolate brownie. Both were great

What a wonderful place to spend a birthday dinner.

We were pleasantly surprised by the efficient service as the restaurant was really busy. However we were served quickly with delicious hot food and regularly checked to see if we wanted more drinks. The serving staff were pleasant and helpful. Only slight criticism was the very small portion size of the spaghetti carbonara. Tasty food, reasonable price, great service.

Paella was very strange nice meat and fish but the rice was boiled rice very wet with water not done in stock as it should be

Myself & my partner visit Ego regularly. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly and the food is fantastic! Tuesday is their steak night where you can choose from a variety of different steak cuts at a great price. We visited on a Friday night recently and there were musicians playing which created a lovely atmosphere. Would highly reccomend this place.

My family and I visited today for Sunday Roast. Which was Amazing!!! The restaurant was crazy busy, but the staff remained bubbly, friendly, and very helpful. We were greated with a smile and seated straight away and we were informed that they were missing a few dishes, but there's plenty more to chose from, so it didn't bother us. The service was excellent, and we couldn't fault it. We always come here when we come shopping at Cheshire Oaks. It's the best restaurant around for price and quality of food. We will be back soon.

A busy night meant that on sitting at our table at 7pm we didn't get our drinks until 7.50pm and our food at 8.25pm, however the 241 cocktails were lovely and the food tasty.

We were a party of three and our meals were delivered promptly.The meals were very enjoyable and all three expressed satisfaction and a wish to return soon But we estimate that we waited for approximately thirty minutes for the delivery of our desserts.

Very disappointing experience here for a family birthday celebration. Booked for 5 people on Sunday, 22nd September. We we're told where our table was rather than taken to it, few minutes later the host then brought over some menus and told us there was no ribeye steak, no sea bass and no beef for the roast dinner as they had had a busier service than expected, not ideal as we had came for the roast beef, however we were all happy to settle for something else from the roast dinner menu. After each deciding on a different roast dinner, the waitress came over, only to then tell us they had no roast dinner's available whatsoever. How on earth do you run out of roast dinners on a sunday?? At the third time of trying, four of us settled for steaks, 2 rump, and 2 fillets. We ate our starters which were ok, nothing to shout about though, then a different waitress came over to tell us they only had 1 fillet steak left, leaving my partner to settle for a rump at the fourth time of trying!! The mains arrived, they were ok, but we all left some of our meals as the steaks were tough and chewy, the onion rings were more batter than onion, and the fries didn't really taste of anything. I assumed they also ran out of tomatos as none of the 4 steaks came with them as advertised. Another very off-putting thing to mention was that while eating our meal, we could hear the host talking to 2 other members of staff slating a previous customer about a complaint that they had made over the phone. The bill then arrived, but they had tried to charge us extra for the fillet steak that never arrived, this was only removed after us asking. As someone who works in hospitality, I can to a degree sympathise because I know things don't always go as planned, but I feel this experience was very, very poor. Overall, very poor customer service and a very disappointing meal experience, one that all of us agreed we would not be trying again.

Today, Monday the 16th of September 2024 Geoff & I visited the Ego at Stanney Oaks for the first time. What an absolutely Delightful experience! Both the absolutely brilliant waitresses, Stephanie & Charlie were Amazing!! The food, service drinks & atmosphere were absolutely Magnificent!! We will be most definitely going again! Food was good, chicken kebab and gambas al a pil pil. Had calamari previously which was excellent. Very surprised that dogs are allowed to sit in.

Service very poor, waited over an hour for food. Chicken so dry because it had been left under the lamps will other meals were veing prepared. Staff friendly enough, otherwise ... nope

Been here several times and not disappointed! Took family and it was their first time and we all enjoyed our food, service good and great value!

Starter lovely. Staff lovely. Service times between starters and main very slow. Finished starter at 3.40pm, 4.15, 35 mins later still no main. Restaurant was not busy, so in the end asked when our main would arrive. Told it was just being dished up, 10 mins later, it finally arrived. We ordered paella, unfortunately it was very wet and more like risotto. Not as it should be. It was a shame as piping hot. Don't think I would return due to long delay between courses, especially when half empty.

Another visit lost a bit of edge ordered 2 rum coke one of glasses had chip in rim nearly cut my lip asked of we want water jug when are meals came out had 2 ask for 2 glasses then they had the cheek £4 service charge .that's outrageous glad I never left a tip

She brought the drinks and food in what I would say was a reasonable time to wait. Will definitely be going back thanks 🙏

As a regular diner at this pub, the experiance was pretty bad. We had Sunday lunch and it was the worst i have ever had, the potatoes where not roasted for long enough and a lttle rubbery, the carrots and parsnips were hard not al dente, The red cabbage was tasteless. We where offered a comp dessert as the main was so bad. We both had apple pie from the microwave splatted on the plate with soggy pastry. Couldnt eat it as it wasnt very nice. The chefs need to have a little more passion for the food they are sending out as this wasnt good enough.

We have visited here before and had a delicious Sunday Lunch but our visit this week was sooooooo disappointing. The starters were all delicious, as were the desserts, the staff we lovely and could not do enough for us. Sadly, the Sunday Roast was not good. The meats were fine, the vegetarian nut roast disappointing, the yorkshire puds were okay and the shredded red cabbage was delicious - the problem was the 'roast' veg. We had booked a later-in-the-day table (3pm) and quite often the danger with this is that the veg comes out overcooked having been on most of the day. When it was time for our roasts to be served, our server advised that the roast potatoes had 'only just gone in to the oven and did we want mash potato instead or would we be happy to wait 40 mins for the roasts to be ready'. We were happy to wait, the atmosphere was lovely and it was nice to let out starters 'go down'. When the mains arrived the potatoes were huge and very pale and the carrots and parsnips no different. The potatoes and carrots were barely cooked and we couldn't get a knife into the parsnips. We told the server how disappointed we were and she offered to bring some more vegetables - sadly, the ones she brought were exactly the same as the first lot. It was clear from looking at other tables in the restaurant that other diners were equally disappointed with the standard of the veg. The servers could not be more apologetic and when our bill arrived the management had taken money off our bill - thank you, but it is not about the money.

Arrived for our 4pm booking and had to sit at the bar area for 15 mins until the table was ready. After being escorted to the table I hadn’t even sat down or picked up the menu before someone asked if we were ready to order food. Another lady came back 10 mins later and took our order, and we asked if kids meals could come out with the starters. After waiting for the best part of 30 mins (in which we could see half of our meals sat under the kitchen heat lamps for nearly 15 mins), 2 of the starters were sent back for being cold, and both kids meals were cooked to the point of being an inedible choking hazard. They were all replaced and an apology given, blaming the kitchen for the mess up. As we waited around another 25 mins for the mains to turn up, it was embarrassing listening to so many people around us complaining and the staff having to apologise for such poor food and errors. We were offered more drinks 10 mins before the 4 adult meals arrived, 2 of which were fine, the other two meals were missing items which we were not informed about. Once given food we didn’t see any members of staff until 45 mins later, at which point we asked to speak to a manager along with requesting the kids’ desserts be brought out. Manager was friendly and apologetic and said he would discount some items from the bill which he kindly did, including both kids meals, and again apologised for the kitchen staff and slow service. Another 20 min wait for 2 kids chocolate brownie and ice creams, and our meals ended up taking nearly 3 hours, and we still left gasping for a drink. Would I go back again? No chance. Staff were friendly but that’s the only redeeming thing about the whole dining experience.

Terrible birthday meal ruined. 2 Steaks overcooked and tough, grissly too and hanging kebab lamb like fat amd chicken. Dry. Complained then made to feel like I've done something wrong. Watch the £5 service charge they add on too. I refused to pay it. Will never return. You cannot afford to serve such bad food in such an area.

Eaten at this restaurant many times. Went yesterday and again the food was excellent and service was fairly prompt. However shocked to find they have now starting charging for service on the bill and we were not even told in advance. We always leave a good tip and no doubt if we hadn’t noticed the service charge and also left a tip they would have taken it

Came with my family was Awful. Both steaks overcooked and grissly/chewy, Hanging kebab lamb terrible and chewie mainly fat, chicken ok but dry. Complained but nothing. Will never return, came for my birthday meal Totally ruined. Staff ignorant and slow. Made to feel uncomfortable because I complained. Watch out for the £5 service charge too. I refused to pay it. Gone really down hill in an area you cannot afford to. Avoid at all costs .....

Took the children to Ego for lunch time menu. I had been previously and it had been nice but the food this time was inedible. The tomato and pepper soup had hard little stick bits in it that I had to spit out , also the morrrocan chicken wrap was not just chargrilled it was black and I had a funny taste all day afterwards. The childrens meals were also burnt. Unfortunately this has put me off going again.

Went for steak night and food was excellent. We all had sirloin steaks for main ; 2 small puddings; Eton mess and rhubarb crumble and a sticky toffee pudding. Staff were lovely ; although service was a little slow. We waited a while for drinks.

Great Golden Wedding celebration in the small dining room. Everyone commented on the wonderful food and the very pleasant and helpful serving staff. Organising it couldn’t have been easier . Many thanks to all at Ego.

Came with my Husband & 3 year old Son on Sunday, it was our first time visiting. Lovely restaurant, very tasty food and great friendly service from Lorraine.

Myself and husband visited Saturday early dinner time. Lots of free parking which is a bonus. The place is large so can be noisy especially when there are large parties in. The meals are a generous size although mine was exceptionally spicy so wouldn’t choose that again. Service was good. At the end of the meal I was taken aback to find a 10% service charge already added to the bill including our drinks. We ALWAYS tip but it does annoy me when this is already added. I note from another review that Ego say this is only added to tables of 8 or more. Clearly not.

A delicious family meal. Food was spot on 👌🏻 and amazing service. I can highly recommend the trio of roasts Sunday dinner it was beautiful 😍

14 of us dined, good quality and no complaints. Staff were friendly and helpful. A great experience.
