Ganapati in Southwark

We had a family meal of 7. Us oldies had been there a couple of times before and recommended it to our family children and partners. It did not disappoint! Very good service and the food so good! We all had the sea bass which is our favourite here. We will be returning next time we are in London. As for the poppadums and wonderful chutneys to start, best ever!

We had a wonderful meal in Ganapati and would highly recommend! We visited for my daughter's birthday and the front of house team, Johann and Olivia, were so warm and welcoming and really made it feel like a special occasion. The food was excellent, particularly the fish curry and delicious paratha.

My friends and I had an incredible meal here! The price to quantity ratio was excellent, and the beetroot lamb was absolutely out of this world. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. Highly recommend dining here!

Had Ganapati on my radar before coming to London and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Very good value for money and worth the trip out from central London to experience great Indian food in England!

I had the prawn biriyani w the paratha, both were just ok. The rice was oversaturated with ghee and the grains were really mushy. The flavour was ok, couldve been spicier. The paratha had good flavour but was not soft at all. The mango lassi was nice. The service was great though :)

Such a lovely place!! Would highly recommend it if you like Indian food. Firstly I would recommend to book if you are going, it looks small from the outside but there is a lot of space once you get in. The service was excellent, staff were super friendly and helpful too! Wonderful choice of dishes and very good value for money as well. Definitely will be visiting again! Solid A***** all round! LDT x

Came here for a birthday dinner. We were a group of 7. Four of the guests got food poisoning that lasted several days thereafter (one lasting almost a week). Really concerning.

Curries are okay. I found them watery. The parathas are the best part. The service was my main issue. Table booked for 8pm and they close at 10.30. From the moment we sat down they were rushing us to order. One person was 20mins late and was pestered every 5mins. Thery were not busy and didn’t need the table back. Cleaning up and clearing the table whilst we were still eating. The energy just wasn’t calm and nice. Was so excited to come to Ganapati as it always looks busy and vibes when I drive past. Went for a celebratory catch up with friends so to be rushed to leave and not feel settled or welcomed the whole time was disappointing. Probably won’t go back. Could’ve been a bad night or maybe just go for a table for 2.

We booked a large party for lunch after a wedding ceremony. The Ganapati team were so friendly and easy to communicate with from the very start. Whether it was building the menu together or dealing with dietary requirements and allergies they made us feel taken care of throughout the planning process. They even made many helpful suggestions to elevate the day. On the day of the lunch itself the food was absolutely amazing, loved by all the guests, the space was cosy and beautifully arranged, and the service was flawless. Thank you so much! We will be back.

Food was good. A nice local place to go to on a Friday night. We had the biryani and it was generous portioned, but be aware there will be bones and whole spices. Mango Lassi was a bit too sweet for my tastes, but if you preferred, but you can ask for less sugar in the sweet lassi. The paratha and dahl was AMAZING! Atmosphere was a bit dark, but I do love the glass area especially when it rains. Again very tasty and would recommend this for people to try.

Beautifully prepared dishes. Really enjoyed the ela meen pand chembra lamb. The Indian wine was a revelation. Booking is a MUST!

Kyah was an amazing waitress. The food was really good. I usually would never go to an Indian restaurant as it’s not my favourite cuisine (picky eater). But I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food was !! I got the lamb curry, chicken curry, plain rice + paratha

Coming from Malaysia we get good South Indian food almost anywhere and anytime. Having also been to India , South Indian food in Malaysia is pretty top notch. This place, Ganapati is as good as what we get back home and what is the norm in India. The masala thosai was perfection. The potato masala within the thosai was sublime. The chutneys were excellent, I wiped my plate clean. The prawn curry was flavorful, don’t worry it’s not spicy so it’s suitable for those that have a milder palate( I personally would have some chopped some chili into it haha). The masala chai had balance of the spices and it was lovely to taste the cardamom and clove. The Onion spinach bhaji is the most authentic you’d get here, crunchy , not so oily, perfect batter and the minty chutney accompaniment ties the flavor nicely into a sweet bow. I would certainly come again to get my South Indian fix. However do call and make a reservation.. my friend and I were lucky we could walk in and get a table.

Came here with my mum and dad for a Father’s Day lunch and can only say good things. Staff were so lovely, the person mainly serving us was funny and gave good recommendations. Food was delicious! And inside felt so cosy, the decor, the ambience was 👌🏼. Can’t wait to come back!

The food was okay but I've had far more flavorful dishes from my favourite local Indian. Prices were reasonable but considering how bland the dishes were, the entire experience felt quite flat. A good pick for ppl with simple taste buds. On the upside, the area was beautiful area (didn't realise peckham had so many beautiful hidden gems, shame the highstreet hasn't been given a proper face lift).

Very average. It’s was just fine but the service drastically led it down. Food was served an hour after we sat down, which was quite disappointing. Some staff didn’t even acknowledge. Wanted to give it more but I’m afraid I couldn’t.

Limited options for vegetarians. While the masala dosa was good, it was priced on the higher side. I would return to try some of the other dishes if the pricing were more competitive making it value for money. The masala chai was quite good, well spiced.

This has to be in my top 3 restaurants in the whole of London. It’s where I go to eat real homestyle food and some typical street foods only really available in places like Tamil Nadu. Check it out if you are nearby - I make a huge journey to eat here and it never fails to make my day.

Must try in London. Made me miss Tamil Nadu so much. The service is lovely and the malabari biryani out of this world. The masala dosa is also very very good.

I liked it because it seemed like unmodified, steamed Indian food. Haha, it's not a very accessible place, but I recommend it!

If you are craving some fantastic Kerala food in South London, this is the place to visit. The Kerala Parrota and the Kondotty lamb hit the spot and the Biriyani is flavourful and delicious, the masala dosa is generous and the sweet sweet mango lassi is an absolute delight. The kitchen is run wholly by chefs from Kerala making every dish authentic

This is an excellent restaurant. The service was good, the atmosphere was cool, the food was fantastic and the wine was tasty. On top of this it was all reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again.

Absolutely delicious! The service was quick and helpful and the place has a real buzz even at 6pm. My favourite was the Dosa and the parsnip samosa's.

incredible experience. my husband is from south india and i took him here as a surprise. ive never seen him light up the way he did while having the food here. he said it was just like home. the food was delicious, the people were very kind and the space itself is beautiful. highly recommend and we'll definitely be back!

Some delicious house aperitifs and the seafood curry was one of the tastiest I’ve ever had . The parathas are definitely worth having as an accompaniment. I hadn’t been for a while but it’s as good as ever with a friendly waiting staff.

Very mixed meal this evening. The restaurant itself is simple but quite nice. Food is very good. The spicy chicken liver and prawn curry were awesome dishes, parathas are very good also. The lows of the meal were that my main was completely forgotten, the waitress lied to me saying it was would just be a few more minutes but 18 minutes later my main arrived, well after the rest of my table had finished their mains. I wasnt offered anything in the way of compensation for this inconvience and to top it off when grabbing my jacket to leave I was stopped and told I had not paid the full bill (we had left them £3.18 short on a £163.18 bill but this was actually because we paid a 10% tip instead of the suggested 12.5% - for the reason listed above). A tip should be discretionary not mandatory.

So so phenomenal – food was delicious and portions very decent. Definitely recommend the paratha bread and the mango lassi, which they can make with oat milk, suitable for vegans! Additionally it’s very decently priced, great for students or families who don’t want to splash out on every meal but want amazing authentic and good quality food.

This place is great all the food is super tasty! Definitely book. Little extension out the back with more seating. Service is friendly and the food arrives pretty quickly. We had the dosa with tamarind and garlic and a coconut dip. Poppadoms and dips. Fish curry.aubergine curry. Coconut rice. And to finish we tried the halwa and the delicious ice creams. They even have Indian wines by the glass. Sadly the takeaway branch seems to have closed.

Nice little South Indian restaurant. Loved the ambience and old Indian music. Felt like I was visiting India. The menu is a little pricy, but the food was really tasty. Will be going back to taste the other items on the menu soon.

The curries are fantastic, their roti bread which goes with them is so flaky and soft it absolutely makes the meal. Great atmosphere - clearly a popular place with a well-deserved great reputation amongst the in-the-know locals!

Visited last night for dinner, the food was good and overall a lovely experience I would definitely recommend a visit! The staff were efficient but maybe could have been a bit more friendly (apart for one woman who was absolutely lovely)! The food was good, but the chicken curry and daal was a little bland, the paneer curry and fish curry was absolutely amazing would definitely recommend. The rice portions were a little on the small side especially for the price! All the drinks were great but also a little pricey! Poppadoms were really good especially with all the sauces.

Delicious food! I had goat biryani which was melt in the mouth! Good portion too. Paratha was yummy too. I would have given 5 stars but the wine was a bit dodgy... neither 3 of us really enjoyed it, but we had a laugh deciding what it tasted of (other than wine!) .. it was called SULA.

Visiting daughter in London for the weekend & she insisted we try this restaurant . Well I’m so glad she did .. the food was amazing - spicy but not too spicy & very interesting menu. The special Brad was delicious & for myself preferable to nana breads. The ambience was lovely & cosy & the service was great. Price pretty reasonable for London. Would most definitely recommend .

We've dined at this place on two occasions, and both times, our main attraction was their exquisite masala dosa. It's one of the finest in London. The dosa is substantial, wonderfully crispy, and the potato filling is bursting with flavour. To top it off, their sambar is fresh and delicious. I'd give it a perfect score of 10/10. Also, I recommend trying the ginger-infused masala chai, it hits the spot. During our initial visit, we decided to explore various items on the menu. We tried the prawn curry, which regrettably fell short of capturing the true essence of Indian cuisine. The mung dhal salad was pleasant, although not extraordinary, and the chicken thigh starter was a hearty choice if you have a big appetite. The paratha was also great. However, on our subsequent visit, we decided to stick to what we knew was exceptional – the dosa :)

A gentrified, inauthentic, overrated restaurant. My partner’s vegetarian dish was bland, watery, and tasted like raw curry powder had been dumped in prior to serving, rather than using real spices (and cooking them properly). The rest of the meal was mediocre. It is not a restaurant run by South Asians, and you can tell that from both the food and clientele.

Food is always great but we were sat at a very small table with a tap sticking out of wall so made it even more uncomfortable. I raised the issue of this but staff did not seem to care. The annoying thing was the tables that were empty when we arrived, were still that when we left, so could have been made more comfortable.

This was my first time at Ganapati and prior to visiting I have heard about it many times. The food was delicious and the starter which was some kind of savoury doughnut was an amazing surprise and something I’ve never eaten before. I also wanted to note how kind and friendly the staff are, bringing such warmth and relaxedness to our experience whilst being very professional too. Thank you!

We had lunch here, we both had the veggie option and they were both excellent. The service was fast and friendly and its a really nice place for a relaxing lunch.
