Went in to ask if they sold a specific item, was rudely laughed at…. Instead of told yes or no. Was rather insulting and really uncalled for. Really rude staff, would not recommend.

Love the ribs, so tasty and the rib ends are perfect too. Lovely family

Shocking been local for 4 yrs now guy ask me a.k.a (Mohamed) it’s cash only bro lol as I have the cash in my hand I roll my eyes thinking I’m local just because I don’t come every day I mean come on it’s fish and CHIPS at the end of the day not healthy then gives me a kids size portion of chips 😂 well if you can call it that even a 5 yr old would have still been hungry no Diddy then over charges me last week I got the same order with the exception of a large chips it was £7 2 weeks later it’s £8 I no cost of living and inflation but surely not within 2 weeks 🙄😂 think I will be supporting the new chain Popeyes down the rd from now on!

Excellent batter...thin and crispy.......chips good cut and tasty......no grease made for a decent meal....do not understand the reviews about expensive....this was good value for money....staff friendly....will go again....

stale crusty old chips tasteless, no aroma definitely not worth the money. missing food Music is very loud,maybe they could not hear me,or they are doing it on purpose?!?. Not very friendly, will not be going back.

Missing item's on multiple occasions. The chips what can I say, they didn't taste or smell of anything and were, crusty and hard literally like biting into cement. Seems to me they reheat the chips from, the night before. Never had such bad quality food. won't return, really needs a health inspection.

35 years plus going to this absolutely amazing fish n chips n Ribs place ,it is honestly one of the best take aways in London. Food is fresh n delicious, extremely well priced n service is always with a smile.

You are definitely guaranteed to get fresh served chips and whatever else you want to accompany your meal. Best to visit on a Friday or Saturday and be prepared to cue.

Local and the small cod was very tasty.

Excellent chippy. Fish was cooked fresh for us so had to wait but that's OK as it's freshly cooked so worth the wait. Sat outside in the sunshine watching people and life go by whilst we waited.

My haddock was fresh, cooked to perfection. My Dad's ribs were absolutely delicious - restaurant quality for a fraction of the price. The owners are clearly investing in the quality of their food, not the flashy websites and online adverts. Definitely will be going back for more. Don't forget your cash, it's cash only!

Generous and friendly staff. We got a huge portion because we couldn’t afford a second plate. Taste was also amazing.

very good food, fairly priced, some staff very polite and friendly, however the owners are very abrupt and make you feel like you must hurry up and order they are very aggressive when asking you want you would like to order and if you do not know straight away you get the rolling eyes. doesn't make you feel very welcome.

OMG! How awful. Any positive review must be written by themselves. Surly, rude, unfriendly and if you don’t buy what they want they give you old, stale food whilst telling you it’s fresh. Brown guy is particularly bad in this way. Classic swindle in Arab countries. That’s how they ensure they win in the deal. Their fish was dry, cold and stank. The chips were old and cold. They hide the fresh food under the counter when it’s cooked and switch it with stale items which they give to you. I hope this place closes ASAP. Disgusting product and staff.

Its local so I use it relatively regularly. Great staff and very well organised. Theres a selection of fish, not just the usual cod and the kebab meat is really well marinated/seasoned. I really can't fault it in any way. Except maybe the amount of people queuing in front of me. But that says its good. Also a few tables and chairs outside. Basically its outstanding and should be given a try!

My experience at this chip shop is always upsetting The staff is so rude, money grabbing people The owner is nice from time to time which is why I return, the rest of the staff especially the brown guy...whom I don't know the name I call him the sales man, always smug and unwelcoming Like we buy their food on credit or something Over charging me and always giving me the wrong change on purpose if i don't buy more than what I need And not even give me what I paid for, my food is always missing when I get home and not all that for the price and service. Sad that some people are this cruel. I will take my money else where

Very disappointed with a staff members here. I was told NHS staff get discount by a staff member on Friday. When I came to pay, had to pay full price with the staff member laughing. The boss was equally disappointing when I asked why I was lied to. The fish was bland, wont be going back.

One of the oldest fish & chip shops around. I remember going there as a kid, and getting chips served in newspaper. Ahh the good old days

I've been going to George's for over eleven years now, always when I want to treat myself at lunchtime and I see every reason to continue with my tradition. The lovely owners are generous and kind and the food is always good. I especially like the Burger Meal with their wonderful chips, as well as chips and salad in pitta bread as a great veggie option. I cannot recommend Georges highly enough.

Very rude and arrogant lady owner works here, money grabbing, greedy and rough in her ways. This used to be a good chip shop run by Greek brothers always so friendly and nice, but now has become overpriced and quality has really gone down. After my experience today I will never go to this chip shop again. I asked for something to be given something else and then this rude women got involved. The cod and chips were low quality and I recommend you go to another chip shop than this one!! That rude lady just looks as customers at money in out so she can line her greedy pocket. Appalling and now I know why my friends in the Notting Hill area don't go to Georges!

Have been coming to this chippie for over 15 years right back when the original George was still around. He has definitely left it in very safe hands with his family. Lovely people, always friendly and kind. The food always hits the spot - fabulous fish, proper potato chips all freshly made and generous portions to boot. Would highly recommend every time. If it's good enough for Jamie Oliver (who rated this place very highly), then it's good enough for us!

This chip shop used to be great run by Greek brothers, very good fish and chips and service. Now it has gone really downhill and the lady owner in there very rude and a money grabber. Customers are seen as quick money in/out and I was really appauled by her today. I asked for cod chips and peas and when I was told the peas couldn't be put seperate this rude lady got involved and said to the man just give her fish and chips. I had paid for peas too but left the chip shop in disgust at the way the lady owner treats customers. She's horrible and I think there are lots of better chip shops than this one. The original George and his brothers were great but not now, there is an Indian man works in the shop most probably gets bossed around by her. Don't recommend it and quality of fish and chips poor

Best fish and chips in Notting Hill

Really good quality fish and chips. The batter is light and crispy and the chips are the perfect colour with just the right bite. The staff are all friendly and welcoming especially the chap taking the orders. I was there late one evening just before they closed and a customer was complaining about the cold weather and even though they were clearing up they went and put the kettle on and made him a cup of tea! Fantastic customer service!

Ordered large fish and chips. Fish raw in the middle and fish skin raw. Called them to complain, the person could hear me and I explained my complaint. He told me to hold whilst he explained to work colleague before passing me on to him - the response was, 'why do they want to speak to me', and then once I was passed over the guy pretended he could not hear me before disconnecting the phone. Last week we had a hair in the polystyrene box. They don't wear head covering or gloves. Re-rang them and said I'm bringing g it back for refund.

Ordered a full portion of ribs and was given 8 ribs instead full portion also ordered large portion of chips and looked like 3 handfuls......I was very disappointed as George's has been a regular for myself over the years.

Amazingly consistent fish and chip shop with a wide selection of takeaway food to choose from. Staff are jovial and friendly. I've been visiting for over 30 years. George's is part of the Ladbroke Grove make up and the go to take away. I cannot fault them and wish I had a local fish and chip shop like this. They di close early though. Keep up the great work!

The fish here is great, the batter feels light and flavourful just melts in your mouth, as it should be ! The kebab and shawarma are also, on point. Portions are generous and the prices are low. What more can you want from you local chippy?

George's is a Portobello institution. Proper chips and wonderful fresh fish with a light batter this is how it should be.

Just had food again out of here and superb as always the staff r always friendly the best fish and chip shop for miles would be in there every week but live 40 miles from ere now always get grub from ere when working in the area cheers lads👍

My Greek In-Law's were looking forward to having Fish and Chips in London and I advised that George's Portobello Fish Bar was the best in London, so we went there and the wonderful Cypriot owner was chatting Greek with them whilst they consumed the most amazing Fish and Chips and making me look like I actually knew what I was talking about for once 😍🇬🇷🇨🇾😋

Non si può andare a Londra e non mangiare almeno una volta il fish & chips! E uno dei posti in cui lo si può mangiare al meglio è proprio questo! E' un bugigattolo, hanno giusto qualche tavolino fuori per potersi sedere e gustare questa prelibatezza, altrimenti se sei fortunato puoi accaparrarti uno dei tre sgabelli che hanno dentro. Ma ne vale la pena, fish & chips davvero eccezionale, porzione abondante e prezzo più che abbordabile visto che con meno di 8 sterline te lo porti via assieme a una bibita. Merita una sosta!

Delicious food with loads of vegetarian & halal options. There are many different foods to try here from the cod to the battered sausages. I would advise going here if you would like a quick tasty meal. 😋

Love love love George’s!!! I must have eaten there every second day I was in London for a month. The staff is wonderful, ALL the food is amazing. The bbq chicken is out of this world. Cheeseburgers, fish and chips, savaloy, the list goes on. Love it here

In London this week visiting and fancied fish n chips. We Googled the area and chose it because it's recommended by Jamie Oliver. All I can say is that it was delicious. Took me back 30 years, exactly how it should be! Only thing missing was the newspaper! Just how it should be fresh fish, crispy batter and chips to die for. I would definitely recommend it.

Not sure what the problem is with the lady who serves, but she clearly didn’t want to be working there. It spoilt the whole experience for me.

So in love with their nugget roll that only costs £3. I normally get their nugget & chip roll with a portion of ribs on the side. So tasty & very reasonably priced. Great location!

Despite a terrible attitude from most of the staff I have been going here almost every Friday for the last two years along with many colleagues, we pre order our collective order for about half a dozen to a dozen people on a regular basis but we have all decided never again. Today was out final straw, as one of the staff who I am told is th co owner with his sister was so rude to a colleague of mine it deeply upset her. They have regularly gotten our orders wrong, for example ensuring there is sauce on a kebab and them insisting it is there and then us getting it back only to find it isn't there. It is hard to check through a dozen boxes just to be sure they have taken a simple order down correctly. There is also the general staff rudeness. The same man was extremely sarcastic, complained when we asked for condiments or salt and vinegar and then informed us if we wanted customer service we should go to M&S ! We only spend about £50-60 per week there, not a princely sum but it our hard earned wages. We have found several local alternatives and will be finding our new regular chippy. I would also avoid this place if you have kids as they frequently swear.
