Only a one night stay. The tasteful Christmas decorations and helpful and professional staff gave an immediate clue to the attention to detail. Dinner was an excellent experience. My wife and I (well, me mostly) very much appreciated the log fire in the comfy lounge where we were served antipasti while we chose from the wide range of dishes on the menu. We were called through quickly and our three courses were presented by attentive staff at just the right intervals. Food was outstanding and the wine was well chosen. Coffee and petit fours back in the lounge in front of the fire again was a fitting conclusion to the evening. The room was quiet and well appointed with a top quality shower room and a gigantic comfortable bed. Breakfast was a revelation to a fairly seasoned hotel user. Everything on the buffet bar was well presented, fresh and tasty. Our breakfast - Kings Breakfast for me and Boiled eggs and soldiers for my wife was perfectly cooked. Overall, this is the best country hotel experience we have had and cannot be recommended highly enough.We will be back and next time will save ourselves for the English Breakfast!

The food served at The Grange is of a high standard. My wife commented that of all the hotels we have stayed at within the UK and eaten in the restaurant, The Grange is the best.

Stayed here for our pre Christmas two night break with our party of seven. Realy helpful booking in from Teresa and team to ensure all our crew were comfortable. Great rooms and hotel decorated for the season . The food in the restaurant was truly special and beyond our expecations . Well presented, beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection . The service was excellent and It made our whole experience so memorable.

We were at the Hotel on a dinner, bed and breakfast status with our party of seven. We dined in for both nights with all choosing a variety of starters ,mains and desserts from the menu. We were all so impressed with the quality, presentation and excellent taste of the dishes we choose on both evenings . The food was beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection and this went along way to making our stay so memorable. The breakfasts each day were to the same high standards and a perfect way to start the day. This place is a little gem and I'm sure we will all return to enjoy staying and dinning there again.

Delicious breakfast with fresh good quality ingredients. We also had dinner the night before. The beef was cooked to perfection. The seabass was no different with a lovely sauce. The hotel is cosy, the staff are very welcoming and provide an efficient friendly service. We would definitely recommend The Grange.

Lovely food and welcome. Thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable. A lot of thought has gone into crafting the experience of dining at the Grange, and to top it off the food is excellent. A well thought through choice of whiskey (and other drinks) too.

I have lost count of the number of times we have stayed at The Grange, but every visit is perfect! Very relaxing, lovely room, wonderful staff and amazing food. We haven’t found anywhere we like better!

For two evenings we had the pleasure of dining here. The food was exceptional. The taste of all the dishes we had were fantastic. Especially the steak. I requested a 'blue' steak and it was perfect, it melted in my mouth. Congratulations to the Chef. The serving staff were lovely, they were friendly and very helpful. They made us feel special even when it was a busy sitting. We definitely recommend this Restaurant.

Excellent and varied menu with plenty of modifications and choices for a dairy free diet. Lovely children's menu and we were made to feel very welcome.

Stayed 3 nights all breakfast very good. Since our stay included evening meals we would highly recommend the quality and tastiness of those three course dinners.

Exceptionally good food. The service was a bit slow even though we had a concert to get to, there seemed to be only one service staff member really looking out for all of the tables, even though there were 3 staff available. Every morsel was tasty and we ordered our puddings to put in our room for after the music, and made it in time for the music with about 3 minutes to spare!

Delicious chateaubriand....cooked to perfection. We were sure we wouldn't be able to eat it all but we did!! Great al dente vegetables and delicious chips. A real treat!

Lovely, quiet hotel with good food, friendly staff and an off the beaten track location that's peaceful. They also have a chilled out cat called Neptune who does enjoy a tickle under the chin. Our room had a BIG balcony area with a great view over the garden that would be fantastic in the summer. Randomly we were also followed back after a walk by some local ducks. :-D

Great selection of exceptional food. So glad we chose the fish option as a main, it was exquisite. Ideal portion sizes and service was exceptional. Definitely going back.

The breakfasts were excellent on our 3 night stay - plenty of choice and staff very happy to adapt our choices. We also enjoyed dinner each night - good menu options, although they didn't change while we stayed; food very well presented and tasty. Waiting staff very friendly and accommodating. Reasonably priced drinks. The restaurant had a nice ambience (no background music thankfully!) Nice to enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the lounge or bar without feeling rushed.

You just feel welcome here! Wait! Soothing calm and pleasant accommodations with British flair. The food was delicious and brought to you delicately with charm and charming hospitality by Ellie. The rooms are spacious and equally nicely decorated although dated. Dorset’s countryside will enchant you! But careful! When receiving the bill by email I saw they overcharged £27,50. £59 for champagne we did not order. We preferred an honest Crémant at £37. £1 for the unimpressive nuts that came with it is purely insane! £5,50 for food we never ordered? Credited too although I had to insist. Not impressed because I felt cheated!

This is a fabulous hotel, buried in lovely countryside. The ambience, friendliness and superb food are things you will remember. Indeed, the dinners are of Michelin starred standard. As a bonus, the lovely town of Sherborne is nearby.

I made a last-minute booking for Sunday lunch and the gentleman who answered the phone managed to fit us in, for which we were very grateful. The food and the service were exemplary - I can see why it's impossible to book Christmas Day Luncheon here! All four of us couldn't fault the meal, from starters to coffee and petit fours, and the staff were so welcoming, friendly and efficient. The only very tiny quibble was the lack of finger bowls after de-shelling the delicious prawn!

Great staff that are always very helpful. Delicious meals served up from a menu sure to suit most people. And a great setting to add to the experience.

Excelllant meal & service with steaks cooked to perfection. Only negative is tables to close together - you had to whisper.

There are choices of duck breast, beef steak, lamb chop, two different fishes and a risotto (vegetarian) on the dinner menu. The duck breast with blackberry sauce was so good that we ordered it again on the 2nd night. The restaurant deserves at least one Michelin star in my opinion.

Food was tasty and well prepared and presented. Ambience was created by the lovely setting and very attentive staff who use humour appropriately and manage a balance between formality and friendliness that is most welcoming. Thank you.

We stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast basis and cannot fault the food. It is always tasty and freshly cooked with plenty of choice. The Grange also has a very comprehensive wine list. We shall return.

We dined at the Grange over a number of evenings, and also enjoyed cocktails, canapés, a wedding breakfast and a hot buffet meal for over 50 guests. The quality of the food and drink was consistently excellent and the service was amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff members, and comments from our guests were all complimentary. Happy to recommend for breakfast, lunch, dinner or indeed any meal.

Have stayed here often on the way to Cornwall and Devon, and never disappoints. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and a great restaurant for meals.

Amazing food and service for a lovely wedding. Such a well suited space for events and the team manage it brilliantly. The wedding breakfast was a delicious three course meal, I had the duck which was incredible. Enjoyed the tasty buffet as well later in the evening. We booked in to stay over at the hotel and got to enjoy the delicious breakfast as well! A really great fry up, not over the top just hits the spot. All the food was amazing quality thank you so much!

We only had a small evening meal as we had attended a lunchtime party in the hotel, at which the food was very good. In the evening, our smoked Mackerel pate and cheese were excellent. Breakfast next morning was also very good, with delicious yogurt with berries and perfect poached eggs.

Second time we've eaten at the grange and not disappointed. Fabulous, locally sourced and good quality food. Very warm and cosy atmosphere with very friendly staff.

Absolutely great. My husband used The Grange for business lunches before he retired and I therefore gave it a try myself. We have never regretted this. Sad thing now is that the local taxi firm who worked evenings as well as days, is now not in business so we can no longer come for dinner - drinking restrictions being the reason. So now we come for lunch. This is nice as we can see the garden but there are times when we would still like to eat in the evening and neither of us wants to drink and drive or not have a good bottle of something. As we are only ten minutes away by car we don't need to stay. The food is outstanding and the staff really friendly. No wonder Roderick Williams decided this was the place to be when singing in the local church. Looking forward to our next visit, this time on my birthday. Geraldine & Jim Taylor

After starting in the bar with a complimentary canape we went into the dining room. All 3 courses that we had were beautifully presented and tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all we both hd a lovely meal.

Great food as always - The Grange never disappoints. Good variety of cereal, muesli, overnight oat pots. Good selection of cooked breakfasts too. I had the scrambled egg with salmon which was delicious.

From the delicious amuse bouche with drinks to the home-made bread, to the chocs with coffee this was all lovely. The food was beautifully cooked and presented, with excellent choices. The staff were so efficient and friendly it made for a perfect dining experience.

Perfect for a relaxing lunch. We took drinks first in the beautiful garden where we were given ample time to study the menus. Scarlett then looked after us throughout lunch. The starters were tasty and well presented. Our main courses included duck, steak and fishcakes, all of which were locally sourced and cooked to perfection. We rounded off the lunch with a selection of deserts which were also delicious. The pace of service and level of attention were ideal, and the relaxed atmosphere made for an impeccable meal. We were staying two nights at the hotel so we could go to an event at the Haynes Motor Museum nearby. We ate in the restaurant both nights, and I had brilliant meals. My husband unfortunately is unable to eat solids, so was restricted to plain ice cream. However, the staff were very accomodating and provided him with warm milk for his NHS milkshakes. Very friendly and helplful staff, great menu and excellent food, with most dietary prefernces taken care of.
