Fabulous! Especially breakfasts. Jeanette, Steve & James are so welcoming.

My wife and I had a great lunch, and we had a special tomato tart and a cheese toastie they were very tasty and nice. Staff were very helpful and friendly. It's also dog friendly. It also has a very nice delivery attached to the cafe. What a great find

Went for lunch. Good choice on the menu. They were very busy but the service was still good. I have a red onion quiche and salad. My mum had garlic mushroom quiche and salad. All very nicely presented. (Just would have been nicer to have prettier napkins than the ‘blues’ kitchen.) Lots of choice on the menu. They also had a good selection of cakes. Within the cafe is a delicatessen. The cafe is located at the bottom of Cheap Street, not far from Sherborne Abbey.

Simply amazing! Great food and excellent coffee. Would highly recommend. It was very busy but the service was excellent and the food came promptly and was delicious!

Picked The Pear Tree for breakfast on the strength of its reviews and found it fully deserving of its 4.7 average rating. The service was great and the staff exceptionally friendly. The scrambled eggs and croissant above average and the coffee excellent. I will be back next time I need breakfast or coffee in Sherborne.

Went on an adventure for a birthday trip and came across this little cafe. The staff were so welcoming, the cafe was clean bright and tidy. Only had cheese scones and a cuppa. But I can’t put into words how delicious the scones were! Would have bought more to take home but they sold out within an hour of baking them!

Came here for a family lunch. A few vegan options, but not as many as suggested by reviews here. What I did have was nice though. Not sure if there were vegan cakes/desserts. Lovely staff and good service. Good atmosphere :-)

I can only give five stars. A great and varied menu serving a lot of local food. Service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. We have never had a bad meal and went for panini's today which came with a mix of four different deli salads. No boring salad garnish. We Always have the chips here even though we don't need them but they do the best chips around so I can't say no. It's great value considering the quality of the food. The cakes in the deli are delicious too

Hmmmm.... Has gone a bit downhill since our previous visits. This is/was our go to lunch venue whilst visiting Sherborne... I'm now not so sure that it's retained that status after today. I've had the quiche and salad before, and it's a bountiful generous serving of salad, plus a decent wedge of quiche. I have to say the portion size is about half - at least a third - less than our regular visits. I know that cost of living and business costs have increased, but I'd rather have the same quality and pay the price increment. Added to that, the quiche crust had that transparent uncooked pastry texture, and the taste proved it uncooked through. I did point this out to the staff, but they didn't seem interested and not even an apology.

I was shopping in Sherborne and decided to stop for lunch. I have tried a couple of the town centre cafes on Cheap Street so decided to venture down to Half Moon Street and found the Pear Tree. I was seated quickly, had to walk past a counter display of delicious looking cakes first though! I was not that hungry so decided on a toasted tuna mayo sandwich. It arrived quite quickly and was cooked to perfection. I had not asked for salad to accompany it, but there was a selection of different salads including quinoa, red cabbage, bean and green salad. All excellent and the service was charming. I will come back.

My daughter and I visited for lunch, we had delicious toasties and coffees. The staff were very friendly and efficient, there was a varied choice of food on the menu and lovely cakes. Will definitely return!

We called here twice in one day, before and after the lunchtime organ recital at the Abbey. The first time we just popped in for drinks but, after listening to the music, we were feeling peckish so went back for drinks (coffee for me and decaf tea for my friend) and a cheese scone each. The scones were really tasty and well flavoured with plenty of cheese. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious and there’s a truly wonderful selection of sweet treats to tempt the taste buds! The café is really nice inside and very clean, including the loos. Service was excellent, quick, friendly and with a smile, even though the place was incredibly busy. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back if we’re in Sherborne again.

What an excellent cafe. I just happened to stop in on my way through Sherborne and what a treat. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the coffee was really good, as was the Bakewell tart. Fabulous stuff!

Visited with family for a meet up- the food was wonderful. Highly recommend the deli platter, ham egg and chips, fish cakes and the jackets. Lovely coffee, fresh cakes and good atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and accommodating of my husband who is gluten free. We will be back!

Rude and didn’t listen. Overpriced and full of conceit. Coffee tasted cheap and instant. Absolutely pompous but at least some of the staff are completely fine.

A coruscating cafe! No rannygazoo here- superlative produce and service. The waiters are first class. Brilliant range of meals/snacks/cakes. If you have not yet discovered this place, jump in a taxi and enjoy the badinage and culinary delights. Go tell the Spartans, o ye who amble by, that on the Pear Tree I do rely!

What a fabulous deli, full of Christmas deliciousness. Found some wonderful British goodies to take abroad, and munched on an Oreo brownie from the café counter on the way back to the car. Will be back in 2024!

Keep forgetting how nice this deli is. Stopped for a take away coffee and sausage roll. Both really lovely and nice blend of coffee, that is not too strong. Had lunch with daughter and also delicious with a nice menu choice.

With the best chips you'll find in Dorset this little gem of a place has a good menu (both veggie and non veggie) with well cooked imaginative and creative food at a decent price. Visited 3 times during October and had a great meal each time. The small deli section is well stocked and competitively priced. You can book a table (which I'd recommend during busy periods).

I visited for the first time last week. Having recently had a kidney transplant and being on some pretty heavy meds, I was exhausted and more than a little out of it. I kind of half fell through the door and said 'I need a drink and a sandwich or something', I must have looked like a mad woman. The staff barely batted an eye and were so friendly and accommodating. I got a delicious sandwich and drink to take away, served with a smile, and at a very reasonable price considering the quality. The sandwich was really yummy, and I'm not just saying that because I was hungry. I'll definitely be back, hopefully a bit more together in myself and I highly recommend. Lovely place. My new fave in Sherborne.

I popped in lunchtime and had a sandwich, filled with thick slices of ham, blue cheese and onion chutney. It was so well filled I needed the knife and fork supplied to eat it and the accompanying salad with delicious with just the right amount of dressing. The waiting staff are always friendly and polite so it's a pleasure to dine there.

Called in for lunch after visiting the Abbey, so glad we did. Lovely place , clean with very friendly staff and lovely tempting displays of cakes and other goodies. We decided to have lunch, my partner chose the coronation chicken on brown (his favourite sandwich filling) he declared it the best he’d every had and waxed lyrical about how good the bread was as well. I opted for the home made ham and cheese quiche which was absolutely delicious, both plates beautifully presented with different salads on the side. Portion sizes were good and with tea for two proved a lovely lunch, unfortunately we’d no room for cakes sadly. Unfortunately we were only in Sherborne for the day but if we ever find ourselves there again we will definitely revisit, unfortunately I didn’t think to take photos until the plates were empty! They do what they do very well and with a smile, a little gem.

Went in earlier this week and was very busy, but they were able to seat us at a table inside with minimal wait. We had good banter with the young lad who served us and the food was very good with only a short wait time.

Very nice. Lovely toastie with well done( as requested bacon, lost can’t get it right). Nice little side salad adds nice touch. Couldn’t resist a cake after. Friendly and Sherborne looks great and nice spot to have lunch or a cuppa.

A stonkingly ripping lunch! The service is top class and our waiter was straight from the top drawer. Food was prepared timeously and was delicious; the coffee was extremely pleasant. Another gem in the corona of Sherborne.

This friendly restaurant lived up to all the rave reviews we read here on trip advisor before we went. Excellent, quick and friendly service, tasty, very reasonably priced food, a cheese omelette, side salad and a portion of chips for one of us and jacket potato with cheese and beans which came with a small salad, plus a large extra salad with mixed leaves, tomatoes, cucumber and avocado for the other one. They got the order spot on. We'll be back and will recommend it to our friends passing through this lovely town. Thank you Pear Tree for giving us such a lovely lunchtime experience.

Superb cosy cafe that has become our regular haunt. The staff are super-friendly and the service is always swift and efficient even at busy times. There is a wide choice on the menu, we are steadily making our way through it! I love the items from the deli at the front of the cafe, always something new to try and the Christmas range gets better every year. I highly recommend The Pear Tree.

This is my favourite cafe in Sherborne. They have a great menu and deli. Well worth a visit. It does get busy so booking is recommended.

My wife and I called in for morning coffee and did not have to wait for a table. The waitress was polite and friendly. My wife had a flapjack and I had the best cheese scone I have ever tasted - plenty of cheese, not too doughy, a real treat. You can pay cash or by card and covid measures were in place. Whilst we didn't have anything more substantial, there was plenty on offer, both to have in or to take away, as well as other things you could buy.

My complaint about my sad, inedible and frankly overpriced breakfast on Saturday was followed by a barrage of abuse from the owners. They clearly have zero customer service experience. I will never eat in this establishment again, nor my family or friends.

I was so upset at my treatment in this appalling cafe. I was served a dreadful scrambled eggs on toast with soggy toast and a horrible"grilled" tomato. When I politely complained, the lady owner told me I was being rude and refused to believe anything was wrong. Then her husband the chef joined in and both began telling me off in front of the many witnesses in the cafe. At no time did they even consider the culprit food, although the chef did admit they did not have a grill (!) so he had fried the tomatoes in rape seed oil, which is presumably why they tasted so disgusting. After being embarrassed in this manner I said I no longer felt like paying for the food, at which point the stroppy female owner threatened to call the police! No doubt the police are expert at establishing the quality of toast and tomatoes. I have eaten in restaurants and cafes all over the world and been forced to complain on occasion. Never in all those years have I experienced such an appalling attitude to customer service! I can only believe the owners are under so much stress that they are no longer capable of serving edible food or of treating their customers civilly. Neither I nor anyone else I know will ever frequent this establishment again. Disgusting. Actually, beyond disgusting.
