Gurkha Express in Melton

Went in around 6pm on a Tuesday night with work colleagues as staying in the premier inn down the road. There was nobody else in there but the atmosphere was still nice and our server was quick and attentive. The food was gorgeous, I had the veggie Nepalese option and my colleagues the chicken Nepalese option. One poppadom each was enough to fill is but they brought us out some free starters to try which were also lovely! We spent around £22 each

Visited here for the first time on Friday, the 27th December on a lads night out. What a great experience, we were made most welcome with nothing being too much trouble. The food was excellent from the starters to the main dishes. It was well presented and exceptionally tasty. Will definitely visit again.

Had 2 brilliant experiences here recently. First was a quiet Wednesday evening, 4 of us trying the place for the first time. Ordered Poppadoms and Main Courses. We received complimentary starter too. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive, welcoming and very friendly. On this experience I went back again for a Friend Christmas gathering, and they very kindly squeezed our table of 6 in. Once again, great service and really tasty meals. Can't wait to try takeaway next!

We bought two of the mildest curries you can get and both were inedible for being too spicy. I bought butter chicken so my child could share and it was too hot to even let him try. Very disappointed.

Delicious meals. Great staff that can't do enough for you. It's not a busy place most of the time but I don't understand why cos we will go back again and again.

Absolutely brilliant, I dropped in on the off chance needing a table for one, but they made it a lovely time with a complimentary starter which was gorgeous and they recommended the tawa which I had with pilau rice and chapati , the food was piping hot and fantastic flavours. I'll definitely be making this my go to curry restaurant

£16.95 for a king prawn biryani which was also meant to have chicken lamb and green peas in it according to the site description, but instead it had 4 pieces of prawn undercooked unseasoned and extremely chewy. Came with raita which tasted like sweet yoghurt dessert. This is not what raita is meant to be, it was soo sweet. With delivery n service charge included took me back £19. Thanks for ruining my evening. Melton usually is terrible for take away as especially finding authentic south asian food so I used this place previously and it was okay, this time it’s the worst order I have ever placed if not the worst biryani I have ever had. Portion sizes of meat included are a joke, at least please fix your sites description on just eat. Thankyou melton yet again you have shown that it’s not just that you have the smallest amount of options available for takeaways or cuisines, but also the most over priced and underwhelming region ever. Won’t buy from you guys again, not happy at all.

4 of us called in early evening. Everyone had a great meal, and 1 who was very wary of Indian food had a chicken Nepal (mild) and ate every bit. Very attentive and friendly service as well. Would definitely recommend and would go again.

I popped into the Gurkha Express whilst working away in Melton Mowbray. It was a quiet Monday evening, and I was their only customer in there. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The place is well decorated and very clean. I had the Gurkha Chicken, which was excellent, well spiced, and packed full of flavour. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and like you curries.

Love this place, wonderful staff who are so efficient, beautiful food which arrives piping hot and so well presented. Aleays had a lovely evening and were given a free starter and after our meal a complimentary drinks which was a surprise and very welcome. We're lucky enough to live locally, but highly worth travelling a little way if you aren't local.

Our evening started with complementary chicken skewers followed by our choice of Lamb Momo and Vegetable Dansak. All the food was delicious and perfectly spiced. The meal was supported by just the right amount of attentive service and generosity.

Ordered whilst on a job for me and a colleague and was very disappointed. Quality isn't great. I will order from elsewhere next time. This is the old spice club which I did rate highly however this new place isn't great

Staying at a local campsite and 1 of the staff came and picked us up for free. Restaurant was quiet being a bank holiday Monday but food was fabulous, staff attentive and a free taster plus nightcap at the end. Same staff gave us a lift back too. Having been to the restaurant before when was the spice cafe I have to say the new owners are equally as good as the previous ones. It won't be our last visit. Thanks

There are a couple of issues with this visit. Service was slow.....45 mins for starters to arrive and the draft beer was flat. Turns out this is due to the way it's stored. Bottled beer is fine and there's a good selection at the same price as the draught.....660ml for the price of a pint Was also very quiet for a Friday evening. The food is spot on however, very tasty, rice cooked well chapatis were great as were the onion bhaji starter. Work to do to to raise the standard but it's fixable and could be a great little restaurant

This place is a real gem- every time we go we have excellent service- and the food- wow- supper speed, presentation, quantity but mostly quality. Tonight was no different - with a recommendation given which was great! Piping hot food and really reasonable - thanks for a lovely meal

My grandson chose an Indian restaurant for his 16th birthday. It was his first authentic Indian meal. The atmosphere got 4 stars as we were the only customers. The food and service were excellent, though a bit pricey.

This is the best takeaway in Melton! The menu is incredibly varied and unique, not just the usual Indian fare. Everything we've tried has been delicious, and the service is fantastic.

Curry was spilt inside the bag all over the other items because the lid wasn’t closed properly. Naan bread was cold and the lamb was tough. Very disappointed

Another fabulous takeaway this weekend. weekend, we've had a number of takeaways now and eaten in. The dansak is definitely my favourite one in Melton. but we've also enjoyed the garlic chilli chicken, chicken tikka, lamb tawa and chicken khiari. We've had some nice starters when eating in the restaurant as well. Very tasty!

First time ordering here and overall was an okay experience. Ordered the Squid Starter and I'm afraid to say, it was horrible. Didn't taste fresh, salty and chewy. The mains were okay. Good chunks of chicken and was nice and hot. My eldest said the Masala was spicier and sweeter than what they had before, but still ate it. Poppadoms were stale but the Naans were delicious. I wouldn't have paid the £40+ cost without the 40% discount though, so for £25 it wasn't bad. x

The food was terrible the exact same sauces were used for both curries and the tadka daal had a very stale smell to it and was overcooked too, I definatly won't be ordering from here again. £36 certainly wasted and still hungry. Over all disappointed.

Lovely food but this is the second time it was delivered early- this time 35 minutes early. We were only just home and doing household jobs so the food was cold by the time we were able to eat it. The food is amazing but it would be nice to receive the food roughly when we ordered it.

Compliments to the chef. We've ordered from Gurkha Express for quite a few weeks now and it has always been delicious. We will definitely be ordering again. Our favourites are the chicken korma and the lamb dansak, wow the lamb dansak is just the best! The only downside is that the poppadoms are not complimentary 😔😆😋 Still give them 5 stars.

We dined in the restaurant on Monday evening with our baby and we all loved it. We were greeted and provided with a highchair and were the only customers because we had booked as early as possible. Everywhere was clean, tidy, and the waitress was lovely. The poppadoms were warm and crunchy, and the mint dip was fantastic. The mango chutney was the best I've ever tried. Whilst waiting for our main course, we were gifted with a complimentary starter. We don't usually go for starters, but from now on, we definitely will be, as it was delicious. When our mains came out, we were so excited to try the food, and honestly, it was the best tikka masala we've had in Melton. The garlic chilli chicken was also lovely, and spicy, and my raita dip came in handy to cool it down. The garlic naan was lovely as well. I don't usually eat everything on my plate, but I nearly enough polished off the whole thing. Safe to say, we will be returning! Finally we were given the bill with some yummy mint chocolates cold out the fridge. The best mint chocolate I've ever had, so overall, we were amazed with everything and really happy about the service. We can't wait to come back!

I couldn't eat my butter chicken as it was too spicy. Butter chicken is meant to be a mild dish, but this had alot of spice in it, ruining it completely as I don't eat spicy food. Naan breads were cold.

Celebrated mine and a friend's birthday and would thoroughly recommend. The food was all served at the same time (and there were quite a few of us), all piping hot. Not one person on the night said they didn't like what they had chosen and would certainly go to this restaurant again.
