We stopped in for lunch and were not disappointed, food was lovely, hot and good portions. Dog friendly, water bowl given as soon as we arrived. I spotted board games stacked up to the side which is great if you want to kill a couple of hours. Staff are really friendly. Nothing bad to say, thank you.

Last time we came it was deserted and closing early for that reason. Now it's busy, most 'empty' tables were reserved for later but we could use them. Little ale choice but the Guinness was good.

Spent a great afternoon/evening in Hardys Hophouse...had a few games of pool (which were free), a few reasonably priced beers and a bite to eat to finish. Thoroughly enjoyable time and well looked after by Rylee the friendly, entertaining barman. I expect we will pop in again before leave Weymouth.

Really wanted to love this place but was disappointed from the start. Large sign with a list at entrance to a car park but when we drove in there didn’t seem to be parking for the cafe. We were able to park on the road outside. Interior was a bit bland with 4 tables that were very close to each other. No food menu - an underwhelming selection of cakes and one savoury croissant and one sausage roll on the counter. When asked the waitress listed a choice of savoury items - just focaccia with a few different fillings. Very little choice of cold drinks especially for children. No snacks (e.g. cookies ) for children either. Had gone hoping for breakfast type items (e.g. pastries/teacakes) but ended up having cakes . They were ok but nothing special. Won’t visit again which is a shame as we are local.

Visited the previous day and we just had a drink of mulled cider. Went back because the menu on the board looked good. Decided to forgo our hotel meal and return to the Black dog. No manager present, just a young man who could not serve us as he was under age. then a chap turned up and took my order, but i noticed the food menu on the board had changed and hardly anything on the board was not what we wanted. Anyway, decided on steaks and shepherds pie. Steaks rubbish and tough as hell. Place very cold, despite their being a log fire, but not alight? and language from people behind us not pleasant. Frozen to the bone, left our meal, despite a very good musician turning up. Sorry, but nice old pub, but needs decent management!

Good value during midweek lunchtimes. Basic pub fare but good portions and tasty.
