Sorry it won’t let me respond to your response to my review but I’d like to extend my sincerest apologies for visiting your establishment as a group of struggling students on a budget. I completely understand that your policy restricts you from letting a small group of students occupy your nearly empty bar whilst splitting some food and drinks. I can only hope next time we could be removed in a more polite manner, rather than being shooed out like street rats for simply visiting your fine establishment and socialising with a few drinks after a long day at uni. I suppose next time my friends and I will just go to a spoons since their policies are much less civilised, rather than trying to help out our local business with what we can afford to spend. Sorry for any inconvenience our party may have caused and the costly heating bills you must have had to pay for the six of us to sit in your establishment for half an hour. Good day.

Found this place by accident, but what an absolutely fantastic spot. Friendly pleasant staff, reasonable priced food that was very good , just the type of food perfect to have with a couple of pints. Really nicely designed interior and a really good atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Kicked out for no reason. Me and my friends visited today (Wed 20th Nov). The bar was nearly empty. Half of us ordered a snack and a drink and were talking when one of the guys from the bar (who we were told by his co-worker was called Levi) came up to us and said “so are each one of you gonna get a drink or are you gonna have to leave?” When asked “why”, he began making up some excuses such as “we have to heat it up it costs to heat this place”? Reminder: the bar was nearly empty and our table had ordered drinks and snacks. As we were leaving I still had my drink and I asked “can we have 5 minutes while I finish my drink”, to which he started being rude and said “you can stay, they can leave” and just kept refusing to let my friends wait 5 minutes. When asked to deliver further explanation as to why we are being kicked out, he walked away and did not provide any details. We believe it was unfair for following reasons: 1. The bar was nearly empty, therefore we did not take up anybody’s space and nobody was waiting to take a seat. 2. We were PAYING COSTUMERS. 3. We were not loud and did not behave inappropriately. There was no legitimate reason to kick us out of this bar. This was extremely rude and we will not be coming back.

Im a black guy and did not appreciate the Asian female security guard telling the black male security guards to search me as they had not intention to do so before she said. Then I did not see them search anyone else going in just after me or before. Smells of age old slavery..

1st time ever attending this hidden gem of a venue - we came in for food and the liverpool vs chelsea game on 20th October 2024 Food was gorgeous, staff were friendly and atmosphere was great - the size of the beer garden and the screen was insane too Didnt even know this venue existed til a few days before, but will 100% be back!

Prior to ordering food we ordered a pint of beer plus a large gin & tonic served by a friendly barman. It all went wrong though when we went to pay. We are a couple of pensioners just off the train from Scotland and only had Scottish bank notes. We had also left our cards in our room which we always do having once suffered from a pickpocket. It was therefore a stand off with the barman preferring to pour the drinks down the sink than accept our cash. Message to owners, the customers aren’t always right but they are always the ones with the money. I have been visiting Birmingham since 1988 and my Scottish money has NEVER been refused before.

Some staff are friendly and quicker service than others. Nice venue, plenty of space indoors to watch sports and nice beer garden with big screen. The venue is generally clean and well presented. Prices are fair and decent food with offers.

Ran an event in the function room at Hennessey's, the staff were by far the friendliest I've ever interacted with for this kind of event, I'll definitely be looking to book there again!

I can't praise Hennesseys highly enough. It's light airy and well kept. Great range of drinks and food. Half price food Mondays to Thursdays. Role Playing Games night is held every Thursday and it's fab. Come along and try it from 7 pm

Watched the Euros final here, shame about the result but a group of 6 had a great day from 2pm till midnight. For how busy it was on the day you didn’t have to wait long at the bar, food quality was great and the management/security got it right as it wasn’t oversold.

A nice spot to watch live sports and have a quick drink. Youthful crowd! Came here to watch the Euros; there’s an outdoor garden and bar for smoking and a large screen to show sports. I liked it here but would only come here to watch a game! Not the biggest selection of drinks on offer but decent beers available. A very fun atmosphere although this place attracts a youthful crowd.

Connor helped me sort out my booking and look after me and my 1000% should be promoted went above and beyond and made sure I was safe which is more than most people.

Open concept seating for outdoor bar. Large LED screen outside for sporting events and food prices aren't too bad either

Visited early afternoon and then around 10pm as staying in nearby hotel. Bar staff really good but unbelievably poor doorman spoilt our evening by being totally unreasonable , not listening and over reacting. One member of our party had had a bit to drink and the doormen made him stand outside for 10 minutes with a pint of water before entering. Not unreasonable and after 20 minutes he was allowed in and continued to drink another pint of water. All 4 of us sat quietly having a chat and when we got another drink another doorman said it was ok for the lad to have 1 drink only. We were enjoying our drinks when the head doorman approached him and basically threw him out! Tried rationalising with him but absolutely didn’t get it. Well done and a top man-NOT!! I appreciate city bars and all the associated problems, and the requirement for door staff, but the venue was very quiet and our evening spoilt by one stupid unreasonable individual.

Our after work local...Like this place. Nice size, good range of drinks. Good offers and food is good too. Great in summer with beer garden. Been here a few times over lunch and evening. Staff are good, and place is generally clean and well presented. Good place tucked away in Digbeth. Prices are fair and there's so much space. They regularly have gigs and tribute bands, especially through summer on different weekend nights. Some are in the day time on weekends so even with kids a great chill out place. Lots of screens all around so plenty of sport action with a huge screen in the beer garden. Downstairs a private hire venue as well.

Football on multiple screens in the afternoon with a few beers and a live banding the evening , great atmosphere and lively. Didn't eat but the food looked lovely , would definitely recommend a visit .

Fridays are pretty quiet in Digbeth, but Hennessy’s is a lovely place to spend an afternoon. A nice atmosphere with plenty of people, great music, bargain cocktails and absolutely fabulous service from Marie. Thank you for a lovely little afternoon out.

I went in during the FA cup game so it was obviously busy, ordered food which arrived alot quicker than advised which was good, only issue was I ordered through the app and it just came up with an error saying your order might or might not have been accepted! Some clarity would be nice!

Amazing place to watch sports. My only quam is that the kid that brought my food out dropped one of the chicken tenders, just said sorry and walked away. Then, when I went to get another round, with a table of food and drinks still on it, he cleaned it all up. I was not done. Otherwise great experience

Went to a reunion. The buffet was excellent. Although bar service was a little slow staff were friendly, apologised. Clean and tidy.

Confrontational bouncers who were very rude to be honest. Wouldn't let us in with bottles of water. Said there was water available inside but there wasn't. £10 each to get in which is a joke and the place was packed, inside was like a sauna so we had to stay outside and we couldn't enjoy the live band. The toilets were utterly disgusting, and most of the staff were miserable. I wouldn't go there again if you paid me. Edit: the response has cemented my opinion. It was hot inside ALL DAY. I asked about water and was told I had to pay for it. You know full well the parade was on until 1:30, why would anyone go in before then if they want to see the parade? Money grabbers. Also every member of staff I engaged with were miserable. I don't care how busy you are. Awful through and through.

Absolutely top-notch venue, very welcoming to a bunch of table-top roleplay geeks! We contacted them to ask if we could run our regular Dungeons and Dragons night (every Thursday from 6:30 if you were wondering!) at their venue - seeing as they had such a nice downstairs bar, which was not used that much on a Thursday. Initially we could tell they were a bit "huh?" at the thought that we could get 50 or so D&D geeks there every week, but they offered us a deal and it has turned out to be amazing: room hire is very reasonable, and the food and drink is absolutely superb! Now we pack out the downstairs bar every Thursday, and we don't want to ever look for another venue ever again: Hennessy's is doing us proud! Irish pub in England- lots of positives with large venue, many screens and good food. Lacking good sound during sport yet turned it up massively for their celebration sounds etc. Few staff were a bit sarky and unwelcoming....not the Irish way!

Six Nations: big, spacious pub. Ber staff serve quickly. Most of them very approachable and friendly, one or two a bit cocky and sarcastic. Food served quickly and was good... had the burger and it was tasty with a chargrilled taste - yum! A great day spent here overall but let down by lack of speakers to hear any commentary and total noise drown out of the anthems... gutted not to sing along to the Irish Anthem. Lacked Irishness for me.

On their website they say "Craft & traditional beers". Stupidly, I took this to mean Real Ale. No such luck. A place for music, TV Sport and Burgers, truly a 'Bar'. Not a Pub to go for a drink, unless you want it to be cold and fizzy. Shame that the Website had not been a bit more helpful.

Always a top night for me . The live entertainment is always good. Staff are good and prices are competitive, cannot say about food as always to busy dancing with the misses to eat but looks good.

I have just held my 50th party in the Basement function room at Hennessy’s. Great room with its own bar, lovely food and brilliant staff, Elaine and her team are so helpful - highly recommend for private functions!

Great staff & impressive Guinness

Really great experience at Hennesseys. The staff were brilliant, service was quick and top notch despite a full house. Food was great aswell. Definitely a place worth visiting to catch up or watch any games for a fantastic atmosphere.

Lamb shanks are on point but they never have any

Music was absolutely blaring for the duration of our visit. Asked 3 different members of staff to please turn the music down even slightly but they all refused, one even smirking. I've never seen such contempt for customers. Our ears were ringing when we got home. Whenever we were ordering we had to yell at the bar staff because they couldn't hear us with the noise. The only reason we didn't leave is because we were there for the rugby and most bars in town were already packed. Won't be returning again.

Came in at about 3:40PM staff was friendly/ helpful, ordered meal of chicken wrap n chips (with pineapple juice) cost £6.50, wrap good, chips really good pineapple juice amazing. Moving onto seats/ general atmosphere seats comfortable, tables/ chairs clean, it was quite quite and peaceful. I really enjoyed the whole experience. 5 stars all round.

Massive sports bar with plenty of screens and sitting. Lots of drinks options

Classic boozer, tons of atmosphere, plenty of beers on offer, they even sell vapes. Massive LED screen in the back garden for sports, and big enough to usually seat everyone on a busy night. Had a mixup with burgers, but that was because the table numbers can be moved around. Also, piped in music in back garden was blasting out louder than the live band inside earlier on.

We had a party here a few weeks ago and it couldn’t have gone any better! The staff done us all proud from start to finish, food was delicious and plenty of it. Bar staff and security were great, nothing was too much. Facilities and access is perfect for everyone. Great venue for a party and a drink in their bar!

We hired out the function room for our engagement party. The service from Elaine was excellent! She had everything covered from start to finish! The food was outstanding had so many comments regarding the food! We will defo be hiring out this room again! We always come to this place for drinks and have amazing time every time
