Just a brilliant traditional fish restaurant with great fish and chips . You can also choose anything from the in house fishmongers when it is open. A real treat.

I spent quite a bit of money at Jarvis yesterday and discovered that I was given a packet of frozen prawns where the packet was deliberately cut open probably to sell some of the prawns to someone else. I am sure the seller was aware of this by his reaction when he took that packet. Very disappointing as my husband is a frequent customer for many years

Very first time buying fresh oysters at Jarvis and really impressed. Sent them a website enquiry and they called me to clarify, super polite and lovely throughout. Rock oysters at very reasonable price, fresh and super tasty. Five star gourmet dinner at home tonight for a fraction of what you'd pay at restaurants.

Grumpy and ridiculously overpriced! I went here and ordered 2.5 portions of cod for my husband, son and I. I had to tell the man at the counter not to cut off as much as he was doing and the portion still cost over £24!!! I’m sure the fish is lovely but I’m sorry, that is robbery.

A classy - albeit not cheap - fishmongers. Great range of shellfish and fresh fish. Get there early in the morning for the most enticing displays. The offer of coffees and mulled wine for those of freezing our bits off in the Christmas Eve queue was very welcome.

I only started using Jarvis during lock-down as my favourite eateries were all closed and I missed vongole. It was also not possible to go to Portugal to eat clams with olive oil, white wine and garlic. Instead I came here and made my own. Superb produce and great staff.

Since the Covid 19 lockdown, my wife and I have really missed having fresh fish. However, the new Jarvis delivery service has been a godsend and the fish has been even better. Pricey, but as always, you get what you pay for. We've now had mackerel, lemon sole, cod, kippers, lobster (it was our anniversary!), black bream and all have been lovely.

We are so lucky to have this place on our doorstep. The restaurant is a small version of the one in Borough Market, and the fishmonger shop is amazing. You can buy the best and freshest fish there as well as the most amazing bread - which I gather the fishmonger gets early morning from a baker in Borough market after he’s visited Billingsgate to pick up the fish daily. And us locals can buy this fish from Jarvis, or can eat it in the cafe attached. I amazed that Tony Allen, the fishmonger, who is successful and no doubt doesn’t need yo work, still retains his passion and goes to the fish market in the early hours and chooses the best. This is a marvellous place for us locals. Amazing.. I cannot recommend it enough. Forget Loch Fyne (good though it is). If you like fish this place really is amazing.

Got really annoyed the first time I visited this restaurant as they do sittings and don’t encourage you to hang around. But since discovered that midweek lunchtime is the best time to go. You can call in to the fish shop Jarvis next door, pick your fish and they pass it through their hatch for cooking. Fresh and delicious

Great Fishmonger with a superior selection of seafood as well as a some extra products. I enjoyed the restaurant very much as well. Good selection of daily fresh dishes as well as classics like grilled fish with your choice of sauces and sides. I'm happy I found this gem in Kingston and don't have to go all the way to London for spectacular fresh fisch. Thanks staff. You're really good!

The format of this fish restaurant has not changed over the years. The menu varied, staff friendly and efficient and decor satis but compact seating. Also a takeaway. The portions are much smaller than they used to be, which is a shame.

I had a takeaway. It was a well chunky piece halibut and chips. The halibut was the freshest and best tasting halibut I have ever had. The crispy coating was perfect too. The container kept the fish hot during a 3 mile journey home plus a quick trip to the supermarket! The only let down - the chips. They were cut small and looked like the ends of potatoes and they were not crispy. The best I can say is that they were a slight improvement on the average chippy's. I am still waiting for a UK restaurant to serve perfect twice fried crispy home made chips. Meantime, if I don't have time to make my own, I buy McCain's Simply Gorgeous Chunky Chips, the best frozen chips around.

We are occasional visitors to this unpretentious restaurant which has a good local reputation. There is a basic menu which offers a reasonable range of fish dishes from simple but very fresh battered fish and chips to a whole sea bass which can be shared by two diners. There is also a daily 'specials' menu offering staters and mains. On a recent visit with friends, the highlights were a generous serving of very fleshy and fresh mussels, a lobster salad starter and a plate of huge Madagascan prawns. The wine list is brief and basic and predominantly white. The house white is a well chosen Trebbiano and there is a decent Chablis at the pricier end of the list.Don't expect this restaurant to be plush and pampered but enjoy good quality well cooked fish dishes. It has a very local and cheerful atmosphere with tables fairly closely packed in a relatively small space. Customers can expect to spend less than £20 a head for a simple meal but up to £40 for something more adventurous. Service is friendly and informal.

We have always had take away fish and chips and therefore can't review the restaurant. The take away fish and chips is very fresh fish crisp batter and lovely tasty chips not the soggy cheap stuff you get in most chippys great place to go especially with the special offers going on its not only great fish but also cheap. Everybody complains about fish but its dearer then meat and if you don't want the frozen stuff pay for quality !!!

I've eaten here and had takeaways from the restaurant pretty much since they started and I've found the food to be good. However I recently had the most awful piece of fish as a takeaway. They were pushing the fish of the day which was rock salmon but the fish I had bore no resemblance to rock salmon, showing discoloured flesh with a strong smell. I phoned, getting through to the manager who cut the call short and passed me back to another staff member who said they would call me back. They didn't. Also attempts to e-mail Fish failed. It appears that the appalling food was matched by appalling customer service. It's a pity because I've had so many good meals there. In future, if I have fish and chips there, I'm going to ask to see the fish first.

We periodically use Jarvis for both take outs and to eat in the restaurant attached to the wet fish shop. On this occasion we took grandchildren early on a Friday evening. The place was very busy and probably a reservation is called for. I rate it as very good because of its kind, it is.They serve not simply traditional fish and chips but a range of fish with the option of alternatives to frying. So for example I had some devilled whitebait and followed it with grilled swordfish; the kids and their grandmother stuck with the traditional. The fish is fresh and for me the main reason for eating here; accompaniments are OK with generous portions of chips and mushy peas available. There is a short, basic but sound wine list. Service is brisk; it's simply a question of waiting for the fryer or grill to deliver. The dining area is quite small so there is a bustling, cheerful atmosphere. I like it for what it is; an up-market fish and chip shop with prices to match. It isn't a restaurant and its culinary ambitions are limited. Bear that in mind and it's not a bad place to go for a casual night out. If you can't get a table have a take-out.

Recently tried the battered cod and chips from this place, and it was a delight! Generous portions and absolutely delicious. The batter was crispy, the fish was tender, and the chips were just right. Plus, the service was fantastic - definitely recommend giving it a try!

We'd tried Incognito in Winchester and loved it soo much we couldn't wait to try Chadwick's London counterparts. We started downstairs which is Chadwick's home of Zoology for a drink before heading upstairs to Incognito. The drinks at Chadwick's are beautiful and this bar has a more nature/natural type vibe. While the cocktails are beautiful and nice-think edible flours and lots of fruit flavours/infusions they are not the OTT, ultra extravagance of Incognito.
