Visited tonight. The staff were absolutely amazing. Looked on line at the menu and really wanted the Christmas Menu not realising it was for lunch time. Staff said no problem which was fantastic. Food fabulous

Excelente servicio, la comida era increíble, ambiente genial - no podía faltar. Fuimos por la oferta de brunch sin fondo a través de tiempo fuera y no puedo recomendar lo suficiente!

El personal era muy profesional y trataba a todos los clientes de la misma manera... los entrantes eran un 90 % vegetarianos y algunas de las salsas/chutneys sabían igual. Las cantidades eran muy grandes. Eran más como 7 guarniciones. La principal era muy pequeña... un montón de salsa de carne... parecía mala. Le dimos retroalimentación al personal de espera. ¿Recortamos el número de entrantes y los tamaños tal vez? Dijeron que la mayoría de la gente sólo pide el entrante. Los postres estaban de nuevo en el tamaño grande y un poco rico después de una comida tan grande. Amazing location. I tried the set menu for the weekend brunch. Tasty food with a nice & modern twist to traditional indian dishes. The welcome punch cocktail was such an unique drink, it just shows what the talented chefs can do to make the experience a memorable one.

We opted for the six course tasting menu as we had a voucher from buy a gift. A wonderful dining experience. The food was incredible and the service attentive also. I couldn’t move by the end of it, we were so full! We had a few restaurants to pick from with our birthday voucher and I’m so pleased we chose this one!

We enjoyed a fabulous Birthday Dinner at Kanishka last night. All the staff were very friendly from arrival and our charming waiter Clive always made sure everything was perfect for us at our table. It was a memorable meal with all the plates delicately presented and worth every penny - highly recommended.

I was very impressed when I arrived and was great by my name before I said it myself. The greeter also remembered it was my birthday and mentioned this on arrival which was nice. We tried the tasting menu. Five of the six courses were superb, some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The main course curry was very good but not outstanding. Service was overall very good but not a five star experience. One waiter was unclear/hard to understand when explaining the dishes. I was pleased overall however I am being very critical but constructive as I think it is five star prices for four star experience. I have dined at a Michelin starred restaurant in the same price range where the service and ambiance was outstanding. At the end of the evening staff started stacking chairs onto the bench seating whilst we were sat at our table, that was not acceptable.

Lovely venue and staff. Dishes presented well. Unfortunately disappointed by the food beyond the canopies and starters. Had high hopes for this place as it has a Michellin star. We got a voucher for this restaurant as a gift and went there on our 20th anniversary. If all the food was like the canopies it would have been a hit. We had a 3 course set menu with canopies, I'm vegan, my husband vegetarian no egg. We gave them advance notice and they said that'll be fine, the chef will make us things for our needs. On the day they did make us things for our needs but for a Michelin star restaurant with notice I expect more than a sorbet for dessert. My husband could mainly eat off the set menu, but as a vegetarian, that meant samosa with a chickpea chart for starter and chickpea and aubergine dish for main. (Unless he chose a veg biryani, but rice came with the table). I think that is poor thinking to give chickpea for starter and main. (One of our canopies was chickpea based too). Also, what was disappointing was the chickpea and aubergine dish had maybe 2 small bits of aubergine, I had to ask the waiter as didn't see any aunergine, incase he forgot the aubergine dish, then I thought it was blended in the sauce, but they just were extremely ungenerous with it. So it was just chickpea really. The rice that everyone got and was vegan anyway, to us had a bleach taste. After a point, we stopped eating our mains as they didn't feel worth the intake of calories for the quality. My husband got a Kulfi, which was so overly frozen you could barely cut into it without clinking the plate. Again, we couldn't believe what we were getting from this restaurant when our regular indian restaurants in Ilford are so unique, innovative and gourmet now and cater well for vegans, even have a vegan menu. There wasn't a vegetarian option on the set menu for dessert, so again this was maybe given to us off the main menu, I think they should have removed it from freezer when we arrived for it to be at the right level of frozen by the time we ate. They did a nice touch with a little dessert style canopy surprise for us for our anniversary, but I don't think it was vegan. Given the notice this could've been. We then got charged service on the whole amount even though our voucher convered about £100. To be honest, we were going to tip in that region anyway, but it doesnt leave a good taste when done in that manner. The vegan roti and kulcha or parata they made was quite dry and flavourless. I think it wouldn't have pushed the boat if they made me vegan roti for the table and my husband a regular vegetarian one. I know most Indian restuarants are best for their starters as it is, but the mains and desserts were poorer than usual. Really sorry. But think important to share for other people with similar requirements and perhaps for restaurant to better cater and better label as there was only 1 veg starter but it wasn't labelled as vegetarian, they said it was a print error.

We went on a great deal offering the taster menu and unlimited beer and wine. It was great food and wine and very good value. Served with style totally recommend it

Took the option of an offer, having previously thoroughly enjoyed an Atul Kochhar restaurant on a cruise. Some really delicious items, although wife found welcome drink (ginger) and food rather too spicy for her liking. Relatively simple things like naan bread were fantastic. The very pleasant and informative staff made the visit lovely. There was so much food, we don't know how anyone would manage the optional extras; we left stuffed. Very pleased to have experienced Atul's food again.

Stunningly delightful. We were there to celebrate a birthday and were a party of 6 adults and a nearly one year old. From the moment we entered the hospitality from all staff was jaw dropping in friendliness, joining in with jokes to serving all that we ordered. The food was majestic in taste, texture, flavour , freshness and quality of ingredients. We ordered numerous dishes and all were just spectacular. Atul himself was there and made a point of coming to our table: what a gentleman who was so gracious. An amazing time was had by all, and I strongly advise you to go and see for yourself just how fantastic it is. We came from Bath in the West Country and oh boy it was well worth it. That says it all really!

Nice place with good ambiance and fantastic food. Quality of the food and presentation up to the standard. Price wise a bit high, but for special occasion it's worth. Will definitely try and recommend .

1.The food repellently awful cold ,indifferent ,passionless .If you are not Indian you may put up with it not me because I am.Two main dishes cooked in the same tomato gravy. You don’t need to have Escoffiers DNA to distinguish this act ofculinarymalfeasance.They do better chana masala on the road side in India. Take your time my wife said as I made a funny face after tasting the chhole ! Disgusting .Monkfish with kale and a runny sauce:tepid and whimsical likely to give you anisakiasis . The rogan josh was atrocious this was one was cooked on the funeral pyre of a proper rogan josh. 2 The staff clueless , looking for leadership and clearly exhibiting yawning lassitude.This place is staffed by humans who just look sad forlorn,singular,unprepossessing.I was advised when I asked the hostess about the whereabouts of a hopsy thirst quencher ‘your beer is getting ready ! For what ?!I did manage to beg half a pint . This is a dining room that wanted be epic but by has now just given up. If you are somebody who knows nothing about Indian food expects African art on the walls of an expensive Indian restaurant and would like to have a an astoundingly poorly thought off and cooked meal this just might be your place .Good luck .

Pop into the restaurant on a Tuesday night and it was so busy. Lovely intimate atmosphere. But the reason you come is the food. I can’t say anymore apart from melt in the mouth and drooling over a piece of chicken and also lamb which was so tender I closed my eyes to savour the flavour. The little crab balls were amazing infact everything we ate was tasty not overly spicy and perfectly Presented. The best part of the meal was a selfie with the man himself!

Our second visit to kanishka following a 4 year break and we were quite disappointed! Upon arrival we were left waiting in the doorway for our table to be ready instead of being shown to the bar area. After we were seated we waited half an hour for our drinks order to be taken and the drinks to arrive. We raised this with our waiter who advised they were busy because of a party upstairs. The food was generally very good, but we felt that the lamb rogan josh was disappointing. It didn’t have the depth of flavour that we have come to expect from kanishka and it was very salty. Overall we didn’t feel that the meal represented value for money given the poor service at the start and the disappointing lamb curry.

I was bought a voucher for my birthday and trust me when I say that if it wasn't for this we would have probably left. When we first arrived we were told to sit outside (which was on a cold day) alongside another couple and another family. We were told they are very busy inside and when they have our table they will come get us. We had a table reservation for 215pm. While we were sat outside no one even bothered to come and ask us if we wanted a drink while we waited and sat outside in the cold. My husband 20 mins later went in yo ask when we would be seated and was told soon! When we finally did get out table 30 mins late we were given a menu and then no one came to ask for our order for another 10 mins we had to ask twice for some attention. When we finally ordered our good we were told there was a welcome drink waiting for us which arrived 10 mins after our starter did again after asking various waiters for where our drink was. Our main arrived and it was ok, not the standard you would expect for the prices that are charged. We got talking to the couple next to us who also was having a similar experience to us not great. It seems that the restaurant is going a bottomless brunch, as well as being a normal restaurant. I would say stick to being a good restaurant then people will come back don't do a bottomless brunch at the same time the service for the normal diners is not there. My husband and I have eaten at Atuls restaurant in Marlow and what a difference alot calmer where do you get the service - please go back to concentrating on being a good restaurant, less tables not do close that you are having conversations with the couple next door to you and a great service.

We booked the 7 course valentine tasting menu for our anniversary. There was a choice of vegetarian or meat option for each course and the vegi options were every bit as tasty and inspiring as the meat options. My favourite course was the scallops in a creamy coconut sauce. Even the sorbet was a pleasant surprise as had a chilli and lime kick to it. I think the kitchen staff had forgotten us at one point as they brought our course 5 before we had has course 3 but this led to a leisurely evening and they topped up our drinks free of charge and waived the service charge even though we would have been happy to pay for it as sometimes these things happen when it's a busy night especially as there had been a mini disturbance when a fire engine turned up outside and four firemen entered the restaurant but luckily a false alarm. Anyway if you want to try a new style of Indian, definitely give this restaurant a visit.

Gorgeous tasting menu full of beautiful dishes with a wide range of favour combinations. Generous amounts of food, you will be full. Very friendly service. Tasting menu served at a relaxed pace to let each course go down - a well spent 2 hours

It may have Atul Kochhar’s name over the door but there’s only one Kumar here - Ashok Kumar and what a nice guy, he paid us a table visit after we had mentioned his excellent GBM efforts this year and he seemed genuinely pleased we had enjoyed his food and followed his progress. Anyway, to the cuisine. I had to try the lamb chop on my first visit here and the good lady had the monkfish, oh wow both were sensational, lamb pink and cooked to perfection with beautiful spicing and a bit of a fiery chutney. I did try the monkfish and that was another level with the most flavoursome spices without ruining the fish, as robust as this fish is. While we waited for mains the chef sent a little interlude, a samosa with chickpeas, sauces spices and deliciousness, the pomegranate seeds popped, the coriander, cumin, garam masala and whatever other hidden spices sung with a beautifully balanced touch, dancing in the mouth without overpowering the tastebuds. For mains I rather over did it on the lamb with a Punjabi curry, but mrs hungry got it bang on with lobster, not something i would normally go for but it had such a fantastic acidic note cutting through the sweet meat it as absolute ace and one lobster dish I may try in the future. Deserts were, guess what? Rubbish, joking of course! Rarely, or more accurately never, would I have a dessert in an Indian restaurant but the pistachio kulfi with chocolate mousse was screaming at me and my ears could not take it - it had to be devoured. Just one complaint - should have been double the size! This is posh curry - don’t expect a cheap vindaloo after a few beers out, go here for fine dining with spice and cooking from a master. I cannot wait to return and try some other mouthwatering dishes. I just hope when this chef opens his own restaurant wherever it may be, it’s at No. 42!

This was such a fun spot for me and my girls for a cute night out. we came for dinner and from the ambiance to the service we couldn't fault it. 10/10 experience we will be back for sure!
