La Dolce Vita in Rochdale

Had a reservation… heard nothing & drove past it on the way to work a couple of days before & all the windows boarded up… Not sure if RIP or good riddance….

Amazing place. I've been going for years, and food quality, portions, and price are excellent . It is even becoming the favourite for the new generation.

Fabulous food & outstanding service! I moved into the area a year ago and am in here at least twice a week, its my go to place. Staff are friendly but professional and the food is always spot on. The mid-week offer is really reasonable too. Would highly recommend.

I have been going to this restaurant for almost 30 years. It has always been hit and miss over the years but it’s local and always has a good atmosphere. However over the last couple of years standards have really slipped. Pre made meals that are pinged in the microwave or cooked in bags in the microwave, fish purchased from the Tesco opposite and a non existent wine list. I am afraid my loyalty has now come to an end after a particularly bad evening 😥 *** update Thought we would give this one more try as it had started to look quite busy when we passed a few times. However, nothing has changed and things have only gotten worse. The clam special was made with frozen clams out of the shells and almost numbed my mouth with the amount of chillies. It was inedible! The bottle of wine was purchased from Tesco Express as we ordered it. Bought by the restaurant for £8.50 and sold to us at £35. Definitely my last visit

My compliments to the chef! Really good food, reasonably priced. Yes, the decor is a little tired in places but if you're more interested in the quality of food rather than how pretty the walls are you should try it!

We had a lovely dinner and really enjoyed the Arancini, Gamberoni and Puttanesca. Good atmosphere as it was busy, sensibly priced menu and drinks with really friendly service from a warm and welcoming team.

Not happy as was short staffed and service was very slow, food was average at best (I would not recommend) but the worst thing was, I asked if they have Gavi wine the waiter/manager replied of course.......... We then watch him run across to Tesoc and buy 3 bottles at £9.35 each then the bill came and I was charged £90.00 for them 3 bottles. When questioned he said that's the price from his supplier ( I said I watched you get it from Tesco) he had no response. I would sooner get a Dominos and a bottle of wine and eat at home..... Over 200% mark up on Tesco bought wine INSULTING......

Had an excellent meal there with some friend's last Friday, good value for money had the early bird menu started with meatballs followed by lasagne really nice and well presented service was excellent the waiter was really friendly and looked after us all evening recommend this place nice atmosphere and some good background music well done keep it up. Good food and drinks reasonable price but it seems to close early . don't know why

I have always grown up going to La Dolce Vita and was never let down by the amazing food, the staff are very welcoming however it does get cold and the heaters on the floor do upset the atmosphere. But nevertheless it never feels overwhelming with it never being heavily populated

We had our family Christmas Day meal out this year and we weren’t disappointed. Good choice of menu from traditional Turkey Roast to sea bass, generous portions, great service. Well done staff your hard work was very much appreciated, thank you.

I always love to go there but was slight disappointed tonight. It was cold, food was OK and not wowed by the service. Hope it gets better.

Absolutely amazing service for my mums 70th and nieces 16th birthdays! Attentive throughout! Couldn't fault a thing for such a large group of us! Compliments to the chefs and all staff and management! Thankyou x

Strongly not recommend. Forks, knifes and plates fully grease. No tables clothes, Wine is from Tesco The place, need a massive refurbishment is all old and, dusty, music loud and you can feel Paranoia in the Air.. Probably the owner have no idea, about cleaning, igiene, etc Prices are very high, compared to the service offered. Better buy a sandwich from Subway, is more, safety, clean and fresh. Run away from this facsimile of restaurant. Save your money..

This restaurant seems to have upped it’s game after a couple of indifferent years. Staff attentive and service quick. We all had pasta, either Fusilli Pollo or Cannelloni, the latter being one of the best I’ve ever tasted. It was full of meat, with a pale cream sauce, which I prefer rather than a predominantly tomato sauce. Excellent!

Great place to eat in or take away. Food is always fresh and extremely tasty. Would highly recommend!

Hadn't visited La Dolce Vita for a couple of years then called in a couple of times in the last few weeks ad hoc. The food is pretty authentic Italian and very reasonably priced. Worth visiting more regularly!

We ordered a takeaway which consisted of Garlic bread, spare ribs to start, chicken in a peppercorn and chicken and mushroom risotto. We were so impressed well worth a visit and front of house on collection were amazing. Thank you.

Went here for the first time about 6 months ago as a friends lived locally. Immediately fell in love with the food and the people. Great ambience with large windows on 2 sides running wall to floor length of the restaurant on. Great in summer as opened to allow a breeze and winter to watch the snow The staff are engaging and warm. The working open kitchen contributes to the feel with great smells and the gentle hum of cooking and pots and pans. I’m plant based and the guys always accommodate my requests to add and remove things with a smile. Favourite place now with easy parking and warm welcoming smile from the staff whom always remember your name - which also adds to the feel .

Excellent food. We were a group of four. All had a variety of starters and all fantastic. Mains for all if us was amazing. Great service from all the nice smiley and accommodating staff. Definately will be back again.

Good customer service. Enter your registration number on their computer as you enter, for free car park.

This is a locals Italian which is convenient for the local community. Don’t except anything special, attentive service or a friendly face. Our waitress never smiled. It’s just average. Keep your choices simple. The area is not blessed with any good places to eat. Head over to the ribble valley or go into Manchester.

Absolutely disgusting . To anyone considering using the delivery service I strongly advise against it. Sunday evening was the 2nd time I’d tried it , the first time we ended up collecting it (always give a 2nd chance though as we can all have a bad night!), … however it was the same again . Continually receiving updates pushing back my delivery time slot. I would not have placed the order had I known how late it would arrive . After an update saying ‘hope you enjoy your food’ and still not having received it I tried to phone the restaurant but it was constantly unavailable. When the food did arrive it was in a sloppy paper bag , barely warm and the Tiramisu…which had been placed on top of the warm food … was simply a mushy mess!! And had to be thrown in the bin! Disgusting ! The delivery driver was embarrassed and advised that he had just collected it and in that state and that I wasn’t the first late order that evening . I requested a refund which you have to do through Just Eat … only to be messaged the next day with a reply from the restaurant saying there would be no refund , apologising for the delayed order and hoping I’d enjoyed the food!!!! I have photos of the food on arrival which was 💯 unacceptable. Will definitely not be giving a 3rd chance !

Absolutely disgusted!! I’m a 65 year old disabled man. I Ordered pizza of Just eat who sent me the update my food was being prepared. I then received a call off La Dolce Vita. “ sorry you won’t get your food the kitchen is closed” so because they cancelled my order just eat thinks I received my pizza and take my money. Four telephone calls later being promise it will be sorted I have to go in person to the restaurant and ask for money back. The staff don’t know what to do the chef comes out (very nice man) explaining he had told the owner several times about issue I had raised but he had done nothing. He refunded the £10 to to which I say thank you . He also by way of an apology offers a free pizza next time. I thank him very much and leave. 11-25pm the same night I’m in bed I get a withheld number call I answer thinking it’s an emergency! The man I now know to be the owner is screaming down the phone abuse at me saying I had been in the restaurant and threatened the staff (physically impossible) I was totally gob smacked shocked and very upset. The man did this twice as I felt threatened and hung up. How can a disabled customer who had a genuine complaint that was clearly being ignored be the one who is in the wrong? I am disgusted and will never ever use the place again. Not only did the owner try to con a customer but then uses verbal bullying to try to shut the customer up. I will make sure I let everyone I know how you value your customers!

Great food and service.Does get busy later in the evening but great atmosphere . Family , friends and couples dining. .. they are able to accomodate parties

Since lock down The Dolce has bounced back. From of the look of things they have different management. The menu is improved with some nice looking specials. Inevitably they have raised their prices, just a bit.

The food was fabulous and the service was also very good. A very enjoyable meal out in a pleasant bustling atmosphere. We will be back again soon and will bring our friends

The choice and quality of food was superb. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Totally disappointed with a restaurant we have been going to for many a year. If this is the customer service they offer then we won't be returning any time soon. Ordered king prawn starter at a price of £10.95 we received 3 prawns yes 3 ! I contacted the restaurant to be told that's a portion and nobody else has complained in years 🤨 they aren't that nice .

We used to love eating at the restaurant, and during lockdown in 2020 decided to try takeaway. We thought it was expensive for what it was (not really discounted from dining in prices) and the food wasn't great. Recently we'd heard it was under new management, so decided to try again last weekend... we really wish we hadn't. Ordering was easy enough, and although still at pretty much dine-in prices, there was a bit more choice on the menu. We ordered at about 1845, and arrived to collect at 1945 as advised. We got home to find one of the starters (meatballs) badly burnt, and one of the sides we had ordered missing completely. We phoned the restaurant to see what could be done, and were advised the money we had paid could be knocked off our next order, or we could go back to them (15 minute drive) to pick up the missing dish. Neither of these were really acceptable, as we were unlikely to order again, and if we were to go back to collect it the rest of the meal would be cold 30 minutes later. Instead, we just asked for a refund for the missing dish. We were told that no managers were available, but the lady on the phone would text one to see what could be done and we'd get a call back. 2 days later we hadn't heard anything so phoned to chase it, and spoke to a duty manager (but not the manager) who wasn't aware of anything, and he'd have to speak to the manager. Its now been a week, and nothing has been sorted. Its not the fact of the refund, its more the principle of the average food and appalling service. Sadly, one of our go to restaurants has now become a 'do not visit' place for us.

Lovely restaurant, great food, a great variety of pasta and pizza dishes. Well-priced, will definitely go again.

I had the Pollo E Funghi lots of chicken and mushrooms with really creamy sauce fabulous. Strongly recommend. Other orders Chunky chips really good & Manzo Alla Zingara delicious. Take away. order. Professionally taken & delivered. Excellent manager.

Enjoyed the meal, didn’t enjoy getting hit with a £60 parking fine two weeks later because the staff couldn’t be bothered to tell us that parking is now limited to an hour and a half on the car park outside. Apparently you can register with...

First the starter of half and half tomato & cheese garlic bread... Lovely.. Then we ordered the lasagne and cannelloni.. Very nice... No desert required.. way too full 🙂

A fine, local Italian restaurant. The welcome was warm and the food of high quality.

We booked a table for 4 and then were unexpectedly joined by my brother and his family. Without any fuss we were seated near each other and all our food was served together despite being two seperate parties. Great food as well.

As harsh as this may sound, this was the most terrible food I have ever had from any restaurant/takeaway. Being Italian, I'm always a little critical when trying Italian restaurants in the UK, as I've grown up on the real deal, but decided to give this place a go with an open mind. I ordered their Caesar salad and fried calamari, which were appalling. The calamari was severely undercooked, coated with tasteless, soggy batter. The Caesar salad was meant to have romaine lettuce, but used instead spinach leaves and didn't add any eggs, which were meant to be included. They used the same 'dressing' for my salad, as they did for the calamari's dip - it was completely drenched in it. The croutons were massive, soaked in oil and somehow dry/burnt at the same time. The chicken was very dry and sparse. Both went straight in the bin. Never again. The only positive I have to say is that the lady who delivered my food seemed lovely and polite.

Lovely friendly staff. However since it's been taken over the food is not of the same quality. The ambiance is very odd. Pop current chart music played overly loudly is not in keeping with an Italian restaurant. The temperature was also cold and both my children sat with their coats on. Despite the wonderful staff I won't be in a rush to return.

Gave it a second shot, won’t be returning! Visited during 50% off and the restaurant was bedlam, the food however was great and we wanted to give it another go hoping with it being quieter the service would be better. This time the service was good but the food was appalling. Garlic bread was under cooked and dripping with oil, we managed to eat 2 pieces and left the rest. We arrived just as it opened for evening service and on sitting down the floor was filthy, spilt tomatoe sauce all over the floor by our table which was clearly from the previous night or later, the flies were also relentless. Food didn’t taste fresh and over all we couldn’t wait to leave.

We hadn't visited for a while but despite hearing of management chsnges decided to bite the bullet and see. Couldn't have gone better as both food and service were fabulous as usual.

Never used this restaurant before.Had a takeaway phoned it through they gave us a time to pick it up ( they don’t deliver to our post code) it was ready spot on time.The food was absolutely beautiful, piping hot cannot fault anything.Times like this we need to support our local businesses.

Time for a treat after first week of lockdown. Mushroom pizza and salmon pasta was both superb. As expected took a few rings to get through and due to volume of orders had to collect. So grateful that they provided this services for us. We will be supporting them again

This place baffles me. Haven’t been for a while as last was poor. Needed somewhere quick so tried it Again. Cold. Slow service. No card machine. Had to go across the road to a cash machine. Not sure how this place continues to get away with it. Will not be going back.

One fan heater for the entire restaurant on the coldest night of the year so far.The tiniest mussels you could ever see and half the shells empty. Canelloni filled with mush which was tasteless. Carbonara so claggy it was all stuck together.Three starters, three mains of very poor quality and two bottles of house red came to £80. Compensation for the poor meal? 3 cups of coffee 2 of which were luke warm.We won't be going back there again. Truly dreadful

Diverted to here when planned restaurant was closed.No carpeting or drapes, meaning rather noisy even with just a few customers.Shared starter of toasted bread with tomato, garlic etc - very nice.I had the special seafood pasta. Very nice sauce but poor effort at the seafood, with the tiniest prawns, mussels and clams I have ever seen - presumably out of a bag of frozen mixed seafood.My wife had ordered a chicken dish with garlic and looked puzzled from the outset.Queried with manager, who agreed she had been given the wrong dish! Start again - meaning we both ate alone.In fairness the manager offered to take my half eaten meal away and re-do also, but I declined this.Also offered coffees or brandy etc, but all declined as we were no longer in the mood.Poor effort from either waiter or chef.

Went for early New Years Eve meal. Table booked at 7pm . Warm welcome,pleasant surroundings friendly staff. Food excellent. Will be going back. The Fillet steak was excellent. Puddings definatly worth having.

Ive been to the Dolce Vita last Saturday and would like to say that the resturant night out was a great experience.

This is one of our local restaurants and is nothing special, but is usually OK.

He's back , after 25yrs LELLO is back, trying hard to get the Dolce back to how it used to be, called in for lunch, quiet but good, lovley welcome, lets hope it take's off again!!

Dined last night and after a few months of poor food and service tonight was a huge improvement , the service was very good , the new manager very professional and attentive and the food vastly improved . An enjoyable meal and will now return after being previously put off :-)

Visited as a party of 12 with 2 children, the food was really nice and fresh. Service was great with the serving staff interacting with us all the way through and making a fuss of the children. A very enjoyable meal and would recommended to others.

Steak was sublime and jus enough of everything

Always love coming here, the food and the service are always spot on. Plenty of vegan options on the menu and the staff more than happy to recommend something.

Went along with my parter and her family for a 70th birthday. We’ve been going here for years and always loved dolce vita, the food, the great value and the excellent service. The last few times we’ve been has been disappointing. The service has been getting worse and worse every time and food has now started to drop too! The waiter who I think is a manager in a white shirt and brown hair, I believe him name is Phil. He is abrupt and rude, doesn’t seem interested in the customers and only with getting everything done as fast as possible, making us feel rushed and like we weren’t valued as customers.

Absolutely disgusted with the service tonight I have been going to this restaurant for 20 years we was really disappointed with not only the tfood but by the service our waiter was Phil whome has worked here for many years!!! He took my starter away that hadn't been touch as it was awful without asking if everything ok !! Then I recieved my main which was unbearable a rissoto which was dry rice my meal was left for 25 minutes with no return from Phil who was very busy chatting at the bar !!! He collected my plates with no apology to which I asked politely to remove from the bill, still no apology! Seemingly as I was still hungry another 20 mins no sweet menue was offered !!! Therefore I had to ask for the bill to be abruptly told mine had been taken off the bill with still no apology!! Due to this rude arrogant waiter who should know better after his long years of service I will not ever be returning!!

More a pizzeria than a restaurant. The wine came opened. The meatballs for starters were bland, the main course from the specials menu was tasteless and bland. We waited 15 minutes for the dessert menu before giving up and leaving. The two girls serving were totally inattentive and the whole experience was bad, not a patch on bella Sara in Heywood. Give it a miss.

Its a bit pricey since the menu changed but the staff are very friendly and the food is quite nice .
