Great Old London style pub. While maintaining a classic, nineteenth-century style, it has an excellent and clean kitchen, I will definitely return

This is a cracking wee pub near Covent Garden; a real gem down a short lane. Good beers and ales on tap, and probably the best Scotch egg I've ever had. Great atmosphere - a proper pub through and through.

Great spot have been going here for years, as you approach the pub down the alleyways it looks packed and ten deep to get to the bar but in the back there is often a table. Selling Fullers beer this is an old favorite and upstairs is the dining area very good fish and chips and Steak pies.

A real British pub with loads of history, great pub fare, great atmosphere and terrific beer! A real Jen! When you are in Covent Garden you have to try The Lamb and Flag! The Sunday roast was delicious, and a pint or two of Fullers London Pride ale was so smooth, I can’t wait to have another. The staff was super friendly, and it’s great to go to a pub frequented by Charles lol Dickens!

A hidden gem. The Flag and Lamb has an authentic old-world vibe .. complete with a unique loo, wonky floors and fabulous bar. The service was 11 out of 10. Food and cider was good. They even kindly swapped my chips for mash on the Steak Special. I loved the history of the pub and it's close location to the theatres. Will definitely be back

Had lunch here with my daughter and we both had a delicious roast. They were very accommodating when I asked for a slight change to the menu. Waiter/waitress were lovely, polite and efficient. Only small downfall is that we had a small table and it felt a bit claustrophobic as there's not much space between tables, so you are very close to other customers. Chairs could be a bit more comfortable too. However, It was a very enjoyable experience and we will return on our next visit to London

Not mad, just disappointed and confused. We had a reservation, got seated, only to wait 15 minutes at the table looking over the menu before a staff member approached us. She asked what we wanted to drink and informed us of all the items they were out of—including the one appetizer and main course (beef pie) we had planned to order. Having spent that time deciding, we now had to rethink our choices from a limited menu. She apologized, adding that numbers were much larger than expected this year and how she knows this because “she’s in charge.” We started with the tomato soup, which was the highlight of the meal and the reason this review isn’t a single star. However, things went downhill from there. While eating our soup, we noticed a couple who arrived after us being served two beef pies—the very dish we were told was unavailable. At first, we thought they must’ve pre-ordered these online. Nope. This continued throughout the evening as we watched at least eight other pies being served. It was baffling and frustrating, to say the least. Why did she tell us they were out? Side note: One beef pie even came up the conveyor lift from the kitchen looking, as the server laughingly told the customer as she served him it, “like it was thrown around the loo a couple times.” What the customer didn’t see, but I did, was the server attempting to clean up the pie’s appearance by using a blue paper towel from the bar counter before delivering it. Not on the plate—on the pie itself. This lack of professionalism and cleanliness was astonishing. The main dishes were underwhelming. The fish & chips were good, but the salmon dish was dry, lacked flavor, and came with poorly cooked potatoes and a lackluster balsamic “reduction.” Adding to the disappointment was the service. While eating, we watched staff turn away numerous customers from a half-empty room due to “upcoming reservations,” leaving those patrons visibly confused. Spoiler alert: no reservations filled those tables. If you don’t have the capacity to serve due to staffing, tell people that. One server struggled to communicate this unavailability to a non-English-speaking guest, eventually turning away without resolving her confusion. I stepped in to translate what he tried to communicate for her, and though it was greatly appreciated by the customer, my assistance was neither acknowledged nor appreciated by the staff. To top it all off, when asked how our food was, we honestly replied, “Alright.” We then questioned the availability of the beef pies, pointing to a nearby table enjoying them. The server laughed and admitted the kitchen had managed to make more but didn’t care to inform us. She tried to blame it on poor timing, but that’s just not true considering the table arriving after us receiving their pies before we received our food. This lack of communication and blatant lying felt dismissive, especially since we had clearly expressed our disappointment earlier. We left the service charge on the bill, though it wasn’t deserved. The entire experience was unorganized, uncommunicative, and underwhelming, despite the other promising reviews. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning or recommending—regardless of whatever showful reply we get about wanting to “make it up to you if you’ll let us.”

Been coming here just before Christmas for around 20 years with my rugby club for Christmas carols. A traditional, joyous event which many of the pub’s other customers used to love singing along with, filling everyone with seasonal festive cheer. Tonight however, just as we were launching into a full rendition of Good King Wenceslas, some officious killjoy goon strutted up in a high-viz jacket and rudely interrupted us, informing us that singing carols is now not permitted. The luminous grinch employed by the (presumably) new landlord was under strict orders to put a stop to Christmas. Such a shame. This used to be the go-to pub in Covent Garden. Now a miserable, soulless and joyless place. Probably one best left to the tourists that are superficially impressed by the history. For Londoners, there are 1001 better nights out.

If you only have time to visit one pub during your stay in London, make it the Lamb and Flag. This historic gem in the heart of Covent Garden offers not only an authentic atmosphere but also a taste experience that lingers long after the last bite. Environment and atmosphere Lamb and Flag breathes history and tradition, with its wood panelling, cozy nooks and crannies and a charm that feels both timeless and genuinely British. It's the kind of pub where you can imagine literary giants like Charles Dickens sitting and writing. The friendly staff and lively yet relaxed atmosphere make it a perfect stop for locals and tourists alike. The food We tried the classic Beer Battered Haddock & Chips, and it was undoubtedly one of the best we've tasted. The crispy, golden fry wrapped the fish perfectly, and the thick, crispy fries were a dream in themselves. For dessert we couldn't resist two of the pub favourites: Sticky Toffee Pudding and Warm Chocolate Brownie. Sticky Toffee Pudding was pure delight – just the right amount of sweet, gooey and served with a silky smooth sauce. The brownie was warm, rich and chocolatey, the perfect end to a perfect meal. Summary The Lamb and Flag is more than just a pub – it's an experience. Here, London's history, charm and genuine food culture meet in a wonderful symphony. If you're looking for a pub that truly represents the best of London, this is the place to go. We can't think of a better place to spend an evening!

Wonderful and unexpected. We managed to escape the crush of tourists around Coven Gardens and found this place tucked away in an (almost) alley. It was crowded, and everything in London was crowded, but we asked for the dining room and were directed upstairs. It is clearly from an earlier century but well preserved and presented a great atmosphere. It was also not crowded up there, had a full bar, and we had an extraordinary meal. The atmosphere is awesome. We upset everyone's day by arriving 10 minutes early. Not sure if we were punished for that but we were given roast beef that was like shoe leather with gravy. On the plus side, my partner loved her Pan Roasted Salmon and the Cauliflower Cheese when it eventually arrived. The main reason we went was for a roast. The Lamb Shoulder I had was very overcooked, possibly because our meals took so long to arrive. We only got our Cauliflower Cheese side just before we finished everything else. We’d asked for water straight away but eventually went and got it ourselves. Would have had dessert but didn’t want to risk it. Won’t be going again. I havent been to the Lamb and Flag for ages... used to be an afterwork favoutite.... and I would still recommend it as a drinking pub. Sadly I booked a table of four for Sunday roast...and I cannot recomend. Have you have ever bought one of those Iceland Roast ready meals for under £3, well Icelands are 5 times better. The portion I got was smaller than a kids portion (we mentioned this and they did come out with more beef to their credit, it was served on a side plate and looked just like two trainer inner soles). Our bill was £170 for four below average roasts and two bottles of Merlot. I regretted not booking Gouchos, 2 mins away and it would have been 10x better and the same price. We had wanted a pub atmosphere but but but but but.......lesson learnt.. it is now just a tourist pub. Surely the Lamb and Flag can do better, even it is for tourists!

Really interesting building, quirky and a great spot for a drink, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for food but that could be because I chose badly. I just didn't enjoy it. Their specialty is lamb sausages. The issue is they come with chilli sweet potato mash and it just wasn't very nice. And there wasn't much of it if I had liked it! £20, 3 sausages, inedible mash and bit of watercress greenery. The lamb sausages might have been the specialty but I couldn't taste anything because of the burning chilli mash. I don't think it really represented value for money either.

Looking for late supper after seeing a West End show, we stumbled upon this restaurant. What a find! We were warmly welcomed and quickly had a drink in hand. Classic menu with all the favourites. A regular at the table next to us recommended the cannelloni- a brilliant choice. All the familiar wines are found on the wine list - all reasonably priced. Food was excellent and generous portions. The highlight was complementary limoncellos followed by Darcy, the patron, joining us and offer more complimentary drinks. We were overwhelmed by the whole dining experience - lovely ambiance, good food and friendly service. A real find and so refreshing compared with the chain restaurants nearby. Ideal for lunch, a long dinner or a late supper.

We were being served by Samir, he was kind & patient & he remembered not to add mushrooms in repeat order of Grilled courgette pizza even though we missed to mention & despite being so very busy. In food, we had ordered Grilled courgette & goats cheese pizza ; vegetable primavera; super food salad ; truffle & cheese fries and focaccia. The food was decent though I would have preferred pizza to be more hot. Repeat order of goats cheese pizza was served hot & that was delicious. Good option to dine in when around covent garden
