We were a big group with kids. Pre ordered our food but it still took forever to come out, and then was pretty awful all round. Staff were friendly but had no clue what was going on. Very disappointing

The arrangement was for a long awaited family gathering, so four of us decided to have a meal together, and as it was Sunday booked the above for a traditional meal. The service was quite pleasant, provided by a couple of quite young enthusiastic but obviously inexperienced waitresses. The menu was a very short set menu from which I ordered the "Celeriac and Artichoke Ravioli". What was delivered was a large ravioli stuffed with "something" and covered with a dollop of what I imagined was a Béchamel Sauce, cold and resulting in a completely tasteless concoction. The salt mill did not work properly and was replaced with a small dish of rock salt with the comment that "this one will work", no spoon, so it was fingers in. Not a good idea.Three of us ordered the "Roast Sirloin of Beef with Red Wine Jus and Seasonal Vegetables". The very thin slices of meat, along with very thick (approx 1/2") very doughy Yorkshires duly arrived almost cold and on plates that had not been warmed. And, believe it or not, with a very watery brown tasteless liquid masquerading as Red Wine Jus poured all over it. Not a gravy boat in sight. The two very small thin slices of "Beef Sirloin" if placed in a sandwich would not have covered a normal slice of bread. The "Seasonal Vegetables" were also not warm but consisted of carrots, sprouts, and red cabbage. Saving grace, they were nicely cooked al dente. The fourth dish ordered was "Pan-seared Halibut Served with vegetable pearl barley, sliced potato cake and lemon, dill & caper butter". My wife commented that the fish was delicious despite being slightly cold. Three of us ordered "Banana Sticky Toffee Pudding with a Butterscotch sauce and Vanilla ice cream" - one of my favourite puds, hoping beyond hope that this would be OK. The pudding bit resembled a 1/2" thick circular biscuit which had a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. They appeared as though out of a packet and completely lacked any semblance of Butterscotch Sauce. It is quite obvious that Management should take a look at the quality and quantity of the goods on offer and provide the eating experience promised by a good sounding menu and certainly for the mid range price. I would undoubtedly check the reviews before ever returning.

Visited this pub on my way towards Oxford tonight and I found the staff friendly, the food came out reasonably quickly and was all prepared as expected. Tasted good and well made, drink selection was good even the non alcoholic drinks

Had a Sunday lunch for 2, my wife had previously been and rated this village pub part of the Greene King group. In a way the pub is traditional with a bar, restaurant layout but with a COVID canopy with booth style tables. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The draught beer on offer was a Greene King summer brew and a guest ale from Hardy & Hansons, Old Trip. Very reasonably priced at £4.80. We both had a roast, I had beef and my wife pork. My beef was plentiful but a little chewy but wife’s pork was good. The roast potatoes were very good and the vegetables were plentiful if a little soggy. There was a good sweet selection I had the apple pie with custard which was alright. I don’t know why there haven’t been any recent reviews but based on this visit I won’t be rushing back, sorry.

Such a pretty pub in a pretty village but for us, that is where it stopped! Booked a night away for a birthday celebration and especially chose this pub as in the photos I could see 2 fire places but on one of the coldest Saturdays in January, the fires were not lit. Food was disappointing and everything felt like it was done on a very tight budget....not even a full toilet roll!!!
