This was my second visit to meat people, the first a few years back and it was great. Unfortunately this time round not so. Service wasn't great, maybe they were short staffed, I'm not sure. We both had ribeye, it was very disappointing. Such a shame.

Exquisite 👌 This establishment has a special place in my heart. The building has a very interesting history, the staff are amazing and the food is worth every penny. It's where I go when I want to treat myself and my daughter. I'm not rich or particularly educated. But I feel like I could be when I'm eating there, this has to be considered fine dining at its best. Thanks you once again guys. It was perfect.

MEAT LOVERS 🥩 📍 Angel, London ⭐️ 5/5 💸 £££ 🍴Since 2011, @meatpeoplelondon has been a go-to spot for high-quality meals, using locally sourced meats and ingredients from nearby markets while staying true to their Argentinian roots. We indulged in their famous Crispy Pork Belly with pico de gallo, cognac, and apple glaze – a solid 10/10! And their Croquettes trio (beef, prawns, blue cheese & chard) incredible! Of course, we couldn’t resist their legendary Tomahawk (IR), approximately 1kg, served with hand-cut chips and blue cheese sauce 😲 We were fortunate enough to have the chef carve the massive piece right at our table (check out the video). To top it all off, we savored a decadent Chocolate Fondant with salted caramel ice cream. 🍨 Absolutely divine! We can't wait to return!

Outstanding smallish steak place just off Islington Green. Run by charming Ecuadoreans who are so friendly and helpful. My son and I had the meat platter shared for two and sides of cauliflower gratin and chips all of which were uniformly excellent. Steak beautifully medium rare and very high quality. A special mention to the octopus starter which is literally the best thing I have eaten this year. A good bottle of Malbec - £170 for two which for what we had and in this area of London is about right. It was quiet so go and eat there - you will not be disappointed!

Came in on a quiet Thursday evening for dinner. The ambiance was quite laid back and service was very friendly, but more importantly the food was delicious. We had the octopus, empanadas, ox cheek, sautéed greens, and truffle mash potatoes. All perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Finished off with the basque cheesecake which is not too sweet, just how we like it. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

The atmosphere is good, and it is suitable for dinner with friends. The service is awesome, and the food is delighting. I recommend ox cheek, which is very tender and flavourful. It’s one saving grace is the price point. Arrived here for a long planned birthday dinner as I’m a big meathead and had walked past the place previously and thought it interesting. So, we were half an hour late for the reservation and I called in advance to let them know. No issues on that account. Once there, we were quick to order a bottle of wine, appetizer and a meat platter for the table of two. First wine wasn’t to our liking so exchanged without issues for another bottle. However, all of their wines seem to be on the bitter side and don’t make terrible good pairings for their fare. We had the pork belly, which was passable, but nothing to write home about. However, it came out at the same time as the main meat platter. We had sirloin, ribeye and iberico secreto. I asked for the sirloin to be rare, the ribeye medium rare and for the secreto to be chef’s choice. The secreto came medium-well, sirloin was medium-rare and ribeye was rare. So that wasn’t great. But what’s worse is that the steaks came unseasoned. Luckily we had ordered sauces which made them edible, but the meats were a real let down on their own in terms of cooking temps, quality of meat and seasoning. Overall, wouldn’t recommend this place unless you were very price conscious. The atmosphere was nothing to write home about. Service was alright.

I made a new discovery at Angel today - Meat People! A French restaurant that is perfect for friends who love meat~ The store is a Grade II protected building! I didn't expect that the best braised pork in London is in a French restaurant? ! I don't usually like to eat fatty food, but this braised pork is really amazing! I didn't feel sick even after eating two pieces!! 🥩 Meat people platter, I love it! There are three kinds of meat, each piece is super big! The meat is tender and smooth, and the outer layer is charred~ If you order a set meal before 7 o'clock, it's only 55 and comes with two snacks. Two people will be full!! 🥩Foreign version of baked buns, so delicious! There are three flavors, cheese, beef and chicken, I love every one of them! Starters were good. As per mains, they were ok,but we all asked for medium rare steaks and they were all cooked differently, some being rare and some overcooked. Stuff doesn’t know what drinks they have, liquor and beers were not on the menu. The manager really tried to compensate for the other stuff and was really nice. At some point there was really strong smell of smoke from the kitchen grill, even burnet our eyes a bit. They were opening doors which made place very cold and drafty:(

We had the scallops, crispy pork belly and ribeye to share between two - lovely flavours and good cook to the steak. We had the ribeye with just salt and pepper which is just nice, showcasing the natural flavour of the beef. We also shared a bottle of 2013 French wine which was very good. The sticky toffee pudding was one of my favorites - not overly sweet as most other places do it, right amount of salted caramel! Basque cheesecake was soft, smooth and creamy - equally lovely! Excellent service from the team and the owner - I would highly recommend and would love to come back again to try other dishes on the menu!

We added croquetas as a starter- the prawn and beef were excellent, but the cheese and spinach vegetarian ones were the winner overall. Parilla malbec was spot-on delicious too. The food was fine although the steaks were on the small size. The service was erratic and verging on passive aggressive. After taking an order for a second bottle of wine at 10PM, the manager turned on bright all the lights at 10.20 and informed us and the other tables that we had 6 minutes to finish and leave. He said they closed at 10.30. We checked afterwards and their website said 11.00. It felt like being rushed out of a pub after closing time.

Had a sirloin steak with blue cheese sauce, a steak sandwich and sweet potato fries. The meat was very very thick and tender, probably double the thickness of a normal steak. Overall the food tasted great. The price came to £32.50/ person and the service was good. However we had to wait 25 minutes for our food to come, despite being the only people in the restaurant.

Not a pleasant experience. The owner seemed very annoyed we arrived with our daughter right before 7 pm curfew. Even though he let us in we spotted him right after moaning about it to the waiter. We rushed to finish our dinner since he made us feel very uncomfortable but unfortunately it took longer than expected since the steak was completely undercooked. As an Argentinian the only Argentinian thing in the menu is the chimichurri. The food was average and overpriced.

Service was very very poor. We waited over an hour for the starter, and advised that a steak for 2 fed 4 so still very hungry afterwards - McDonald's to the rescue! When we took the service off the bill there was zero concern as to why. As we left the owner asked how our experience was before throwing his staff under the bus who then said they were short staffed. Food was OK, nothing special but the steak was very fatty and undercooked.

A perfect place to congratulate or do casual gatherings. A grade II listed building, wisely used as a modern restaurant. We enjoyed a great meal in a historically famous building. Not "Angus Steak" but even more classy London flagship restaurant's chefs made our fabulous meal.

Went for dinner last night and every dish was delicious. We had been recommended here from friends for the steak which was great. We preferred the ribeye over the fillet but the stand out is the empanadas. Easily best Empanadas I have had in UK. Also, the decor is fabulous. I will definitely go back again.

I have been coming here semi-regularly since my first visit in 2014 and have always viewed it as Hawksmoor quality, but with a local neighbourhood feel to it. I have previously had fantastic food here and recommended it to many people. It therefore saddens me to say that our recent experience was incredibly disappointing. We visited on a Saturday evening, with an 8.30pm booking. On arrival, we there were two bit tables but the place was pretty empty otherwise. Our booking was for two, and we were put in a temporary table in an area that was once a walkway, with chairs that aren't as comfortable as the regular ones. There appeared to be some level of panic in the service area, to the extent that is was noticeable that staff were tense with each other. This seemed to have an impact on how our service went. Our orders were taken, and they had run out of cauliflower gratin, and had no coke zero or diet coke, only having the full sugar version. They then forgot to bring the coke anyway, and had to be reminded. We ordered bread and butter to nibble on. The bread was cut far too thickly and the butter had been kept in too cold an area for too long. The main event was the meat people platter, which is a sharing board of three separate cuts. This consisted of a rib eye, a sirloin and a "wagyu" rump. An enormous red flag was the refusal to cook these steaks to different temperatures. Given they'r three separate cuts, there should be no issue in cooking them to desired temp. Presumably if we'd ordered a single steak each, we'd have been allowed to have different temps, so why on earth would a premium priced (£64) sharing platter be treated in this way? The sharing platter then arrived before plates had been set, which was pretty sloppy. The steaks themselves were extremely poor. I have ordered this platter before (previously came with an iberian pork chop instead the wagyu rump), and there was a definite dip in quality. The rib eye was thin and limp, more like a high street supermarket rib eye. There was a line of gristle running through it and there were lumps of white, unrendered fat throughout. Clearly the thin steak was cooked to temp too quickly, so while the colour inside broadly looked medium rare, the lumps of fat gave the game away. The sirloin was bland, but didn't have anything specifically wrong with it. The wagyu rump was practically blue. It was cold in the middle in it's thicker parts. The refusal to let us order different temps was made all the more bizarre by the way it was then served. I also had to ask for salt and pepper, which was brought in a large plastic grinder that didn't work very well and looked like it was for the kitchen, not for front of house. When they came to collect our plates (they'd taken the sharing board away from us mid way through the meal, which made us feel very rushed), I pointed out that we'd left a bit of the rump behind to highlight that is was poorly cooked, and also pointed to the pile of inedible gristle from the rib eye. I asked to this to be relayed to the kitchen. We received no follow up or response to this complaint, which at this price point, is wholly unacceptable. When I called for the bill, I asked if my complaint had been related to the kitchen. One of the staff came to my table and told me that steaks have different thickness so will be cooked at different temperatures, which is condescending nonsense. I expressed that I felt they'd served us the dregs and that the food probably wouldn't have gone out earlier in the service. The response was barely even apologetic. I don't feel I should be met with hostility when making an entirely reasonable complaint. To add to that, they'd overcharged on the wine. I want to make clear that I paid my bill in full, including service, which came to £106 for three low grade steaks, bread and butter, chips, sweet potato fries, one coke and a half bottle of nero d'avolo (initially billed as the more expensive malbec - the pricing on the website is out of date also, they're both £3 more than listed). Even if we weren't talking about a £50+ per person meal for one course, I'd still not be going back to this place in its current state, but the price makes the drop in standards all the more outrageous. Such a shame. It really felt like they did not want us there as customers. I also note that aside from handling the complaint poorly in the restaurant, I also raised by email (they sent me two emails saying I was late for the booking, while we were literally sitting in the restaurant), which has not received a response. I was sincerely hoping that the restaurant might respond and explain mitigating circumstances for the sloppy service and poor food, but as of yet, no reply has been received. I would advise anyone to avoid this place at all costs, even if you've had good experiences there in the past. It's fallen far.

The food is simply amazing. Seafood starters were great and the portion size is ideal. The Tomahawk 🥩 is a force to be reckoned with, ordered for two and we had to take a break half way to finish it. Been here three times now, really want to like this place but it is overpriced. You feel you are being squeezed for every penny and the food is pretty average. Each time they have forgotten sides or steak has been undercooked. Also wine list is really overpriced for what it is a pity.

We visited this restaurant off the back of reading very good reviews, so had high hopes for a lovely meal. The steaks were great (we had a medium fillet and a medium rare ribeye), cannot fault the quality of the meat. the peppercorn sauce was a little watery, but still very acceptable. The reason we did not really enjoy the experience is the length of time it took for everything to happen. I know it is a small restaurant, but there was just one server (a very friendly man) covering all the tables, as well as making the drinks behind the bar. As a result, after waiting too long time for our food to arrive, our empty plates were not removed from the table and, in the end, I had to get up to find the server to pay the bill and leave. We were going to have another drink, but ended up going somewhere else, as it was all so slow. There were only 4 or 5 tables occupied whilst we dined there, so it wasn't busy enough to warrant such delays. I could tell frustration was also evident on other tables and dirty plates were left out there too. I hope this was just an "off day", as I like the menu and the location and the restaurant itself, I know it is hard to get staff and perhaps they were unexpectedly short handed on this occasion. I am sure we will return to give it another go.

La viande est excellente avec les garnitures habituelles à choisir mais de qualité. Le vin était très bon Les desserts à recommander que ce soit le fondant le dôme pistache ou ''les churros. Une bonne adresse à Londres quartier sympa. On est loin des chaînes et ça c est top. Le prix est dans la moyenne de Londres mais au moins la qualité est là Notre fils y reviendra et nous aussi a l occasion d un séjour

The service was frankly disappointing. They kept on trying to take away my starter whilst I was still eating it. They then brought out my main course before I was finished, then took it away again. For expensive cuts of meat that are cooked to order this is unacceptable. The cauliflower was overcooked although the sauce was good.

Overpriced for what it is. £110 for 2 drinks, a starter of 3 tiny pieces of squid and 3 barely warm meat cuts that were delivered to us after 1.5 hours of waiting. First time we have had to add lots of salt to the steaks and the peppercorn sauce was watery. We have been to much better steak places in London so won't be coming back.

The food was great, one of the best sirloin steaks my partner and I have ever had. The cloudy apple juice was nice too. They sat us in somewhat uncomfortable bar style seats though as all of the remaining tables were apparently booked, though I didn't see anyone sit there during our 45 minute stay... As we were put to sit out of view, I had to walk around to the till to request service. Also, I was not a fan of the tiny sinks in the single male toilet. Not hygienic at all.

Booked this restaurant as we were away in london for a few nights and were pleasantly surprised!! It’s a very quiet restaurant but inside the decor is lovely and the owner is very attentive. Not sure this is a one man run business but we didn’t see anyone else during our meal. I had the empanadas mushroom and cheese to start and my boyfriend had the beef carpaccio which came very quickly and could tell that they were homemade. Myself and my boyfriend both had the steaks which were cooked perfectly. A place to visit!!

The chateaubriand was advertised as 500g but came small. It was ordered as rare but came out at least medium/well done. Quite disappointed as this was supposed to be a steak restaurant. We were still hungry after the meal so went to get deserts somewhere else. There are better quality steak restaurants in the same price range in Islington. I see the owner have threatened legal actions over my comments regarding my visit. I shall on a random day come unannounced and take photographic evidence of the overcooked steak, for the owner's satisfaction as they asked for evidence. I think the public can judge for themselves just by the aggressive attitude of the owner's comments. Edit: following the treatening response from the owner, I have further downgraded my review for them

5 of us dined here for brunch on Saturday. It was very quite inside and we were sat in a corner table, no one checked on us and we waited 50 minutes for our food after eventually ordering. We understand that you might be short staffed, but this was the ‘avocado and tomato salad’ for £8 that was served to us after 50 minutes. The server was dismissive and clearly didn’t care or apologize for the delay.

Food and drink was fine but the steaks are overpriced for the size. Two mistakes with a relatively simple order for four people. They forgot one persons sides and served a 200g ribeye when the 300g had been ordered. When we asked to pay individually we were told to work out how much we had to pay ourselves. Won’t be back and would advise you go elsewhere.

I’ve been to the restaurant together with my family and we absolutely loved the food. The staff was so nice and always taking care of our needs. We ordered some steaks and sides plus two sauces, I think it was chimichurri and peppercorn, that were one of the best I have ever tried. I would definitely come back soon and recommend it to anyone!

I picked this spot because it was not crowded. I made an excellent choice. I had an appetizer and a filet rare. It came out rare, which normally steaks are often medium-rare when you order them rare. The steak was fantastic and so was the appetizer and wine. The staff were prompt and friendly. The restaurant is very nice.

I had managed to forget how bad this place was till I walked past it again today. A family early evening meal. The waitress who sounded French but clearly did not know how to open the bottle of wine we ordered. A mysterious bloke who rummaged around making cocktails badly. Even though we had ordered two identical ones, they came in totally different sizes! One of us had a very good piece of steak. The other two shared the selection platter. All three pieces of meat seemed to be of low quality, nothing like the good steak our friend had. The pork presa iberica was hugely overcooked. Any Spanish chef would show you that it is eaten almost pink these days. This piece was leathery. In summary, poor service, poor quality meat, poor cooking. It really isn’t that difficult to chose and cook meat, and at prices not far off Gaucho or Hawksmoor, this should be much much better.

We arrived to the restaurant for a date, we were sat to the table promptly as we were the only customers at that time. However, though we ordered quickly, our food took 40 minutes to arrive. Our main courses of steak weirdly arrived before our starters. The steak was great, but the burrata on the other hand was very dry, and not real burrata. After we informed the waiter that it was mozzarella and not creamy milky burrata, he returned from the kitchen with the container it came in to prove something to us. However, on the packaging was written ‘buffalo mozzarella’, not burrata, which is very different. Also the peppercorn sauce was water-like and tasted as such. It also arrived after we had finished our food so it wasn’t much use to us. The waiter contested this and also gave out to me girlfriend for pointing it out. My girlfriend being a restaurateur herself, working in Dubai. However I will say that the guy makes a pretty great Bloody Mary. And the steak was good. But too expensive for what it was. I doubt there was a chef in the building that day, as the only good thing was a grilled piece of meat. The only place I’ve found that does exclusively grass fed meat, which is a MASSIVE plus! The meat was very good, so we’re the starters, and the truffle mash was delicious. Perfect level of truffle. From the meat the iberico pork was my favourite, just spot on. Would recommend coming here if you’re a health conscious meat lover!

Had a great meal here early on a Saturday evening in late April. Small but nice variety of meats. The two we tried were quite tasty and cooked just as ordered. The sides were excellent - uncomplicated and delicious. I found the service friendly and efficient. The place itself has a pretty nice ambiance. Overall, we had a great meal and would be happy to return.

Other than myself as sole lunchtime diner the only meat people in residence was a young waitress with a French accent and a manager occasionally showing her the ropes. I was given an a la carte ands a lunch menu. From the former I chose what was billed as a single leek croquette but was served rather ceremoniously on a metal tray a couple of croquettes. Crunchy and unusually for meat people gloriously vegetarian. A very good aioli accompanied. Steak and chips was a more conventional unsliced bavette medium rare as requested with a bowl of well seasoned chips. A full bodied Malbec on the side.

The most awful food i have ever had. We ordered 2 chicken and cheese baguettes and the man serving went in using no gloves. The chicken he used seemed left over. When we saw he used his bare hands my sister changed her order to cheese baguette only. He then wore gloves. I took my chicken and cheese baguette and it was the most awful thing i had ever tasted. We went to ask for a refund after tasting the sandwich, they refused our money back, and lied about using gloves. Avoid at all costs. Do not go. Do not waste your money. Very rude customer service.

Truly excellent service today when the maitre d’ noticed us wishing happy birthday to our adult daughter on arrival and, without saying anything, added a little candle to her dessert. This was on top of highly professional service throughout - attentive but not over-bearing. Oh, and the food’s good too. The beef broth is particularly recommended and all the desserts were yummy, from the pear sorbet with vodka to the bread pudding with butterscotch sauce.
