Moby Dick in Barking and Dagenham

Excellent and professional service. Even tho the crumble had plums in it, the waitress ‘Dee’ was very helpful and offered alternative options.

When you are paying £70 for dinner you would expect a flawless experience. This establishment was a disaster on Christmas Day. The company needs to get one big day right and they failed miserably. The appalling experience started before the big day when the restaurant lost our order twice before hand resulting in them calling us to ask for it again. The computer systems when down on the day resulting in over an hour delay just to sit down. All the orders were lost. We were told the computers were playing up a few days prior to Christmas Day. If this was the case management should have had paper copies of orders etc not relying on the flakey computer systems. Poor planning. Furthermore the cocker apparently broke so no turkey could be served. The food was substandard with dry and fatty meats and the vegetables tasted like they had just been thrown in the microwave. To sum up the whole experience was appalling and could have been avoided with better planning from management.

It is always great pleasure coming here. Very good place to spent time with friends and family. Very friendly staff and good food

I have visited several times times and I have invariably received a warm welcome and efficient service from all the staff although I would like to give a special shout out to Sofia and Dee, who both made my last visit particularly enjoyable. The food offering is well presented and excellent value as is the range of drinks on offer. I have visited several Toby Carverys in the past and Moby Dick stands out as one of the best. Was greated at the door by sharon who showed us to our tables our waitress Dee greated us right away and was very lovely and bubbly she got our drinks straight away which were prepared by Fran and were amazing the carver charlie was very nice and polite, my friend got a sandwich which was prepared by nicole and she said it was AMAZING

Fran was excellent when serving us. She was very energetic whilst being very helpful and professional. She was also very attentive, offering recommendations and all with a smile.

Disgraceful no service. Woman who seated us was picking food out her teeth with her fingers as she had just eaten as she seated us ... ordered drink had to ask again for it . Food cold. Hard rubbery potatoes . Which the staff new were bad as she apologised. So why not tell me before I ordered . Could not eat the food so went without . Been here before but never again . It's gone from bad to worse

Chef, with full beard, came to change breakfast items several times with no beard net. 🤮 put us off our food completely.

Stopped serving, waiting for potatoes. We were in the queue well over 15 minutes but people in front had been there much longer. When we were eventually served the meat was OK but many of the vegetables were cold and had obviously sat there a long time and one item had been removed and not replaced. The drinks machine hasn't worked here for a long time (although you aren't told and there's no notice on the machine), meaning you have to queue and can't get most of the drinks that should be available from the machine.

We love dining at Moby Dick. This time we took our friends with us. It was their first time at carvery. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Neve and Sofia were lovely hosts. Dee was outstanding. She even brought my husband a toothpick. Mo carved generous pieces of meat. We even had some live music. Thoroughly enjoyed our time!!! Thank you.

Lovely venue, nice food, Friday night music, friendly staff, and dog friendly, what more could you ask for? A refurb and a new manager, and 12 months and this restaurant has been transformed! Definitely worth a visit! 😀

When I arrived to Toby Carvery with my family, we had to wait multiple minutes until a staff member came to serve us. We weren’t welcomed nicely at all. And the staff members ignored us and didn’t ask us how the food was compared to other tables. The staff were rude and the food was also cold. We had a bad experience compared to other branches where staff made us feel welcome and were lovely. Even the food was hot and tasty in other branches. May have to go to Harvester as myself and my family were genuinely appalled by the service we received.

Food was lovely, had a roast carvery with gammon and turkey. Special thanks to Dee, Steven, Sharon, Lucy & Charlie for looking after us! Service was excellent. Dee was very attentive and was very knowledgeable with our dietary requirements. This restaurant caters for coeliac! Very warm welcome, friendly staff.

Stay at the Premier Inn next door and eat in the Toby carvery...the food is really good and the staff are seriously nice especially Dee who served me and Mo who was the carver...

Come for a family dinner after a quite traumatic week or so. Was met by our waitress Elvita. She was absolutely amazing and she helped us so much. Made my family’s dinning experience phenomenal. She was very talkative and made us feel welcome. She was a lovely waitress, very attentive and we will definitely be going back. Will call ahead to make sure she’s working. 10/10. Perfect day.

It was a nice atmosphere however the desserts were a disappointment.We got the sticky toffee cake and the seasonal sponge but instead of a nice sponge cake,we were greeted with a store bought cupcake which was disgusting.We ended up sending the toffee cake back because the custard was sat out for an outrageously long time.They both cost around £5 which was a total rip off for what we got.Despite this,our waiter,Hailey,was so lovely and we all loved her attitude.She is a very nice waitress.If you come here,It would be such a pleasure to have Hailey as your server.

The food here was great, the service from the waitress was very good. As was most of the other staff we crossed paths with. I do have one thing to mention. You have who I believe is a new member of management here! The way I’ve seen her speak to the younger members of staff is disgusting slapping one of them to move them out the way, I see her pocket a tip that belonged to the waitress in our section. Fantastic service, delicious food, absolutely brilliant with our various allergies (soy, dairy, nuts, gluten free). Brought us fresh vegetables with our meals to ensure no cross-contamination and nothing was too much trouble. Totally recommend.

We had a great time at Toby carvery today and our waiter Hayley couldn’t have been nicer. She was very kind and brought us our food very efficiently.

HAYLEY should be treasured, as the most jolly server I have come across in a long time! Every detail of our order was remembered, and she was so warm and friendly throughout our whole meal. She really made the experience for us, and we shall return with a larger group in the future, safe in the knowledge that nothing is too much trouble for HAYLEY.

We had a lovely Sunday roast which was five star. The lady and gentlemen that was on the carvery were very professional and friendly. 5 Star Review that is totally deserved! This restaurant has been transformed! It is newly refurbished and has a new manageress that is superb and on the ball! The staff are nice, polite and courteous and the food and service is fantastic, and the venue is amazing! Popped in to the Toby carvery @ the Moby Dick on whale bone lane for lunch. It was a bit early but we were hungry , got seated very quickly and there was hardly any queue waiting to be served the choice of meat was very good there was five options and the portions were good. The vegetables were plentyful and everything was hot.Sylvia who was in charge of the food made sure everything was topped up and well presented. The atmosphere was jovial and made for a pleasant lunch. The place was starting to get busy as we were finishing. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Not really impressed. Poor to non existent service and lukewarm food. The floor was covered with food which hadn’t been cleaned up. Can’t see why this was the case as restaurant was 2/3rds empty. Manager great and older guy on serving bench totally understood the seriousness of food allergies. The young guy on the serving bench was nonchalant and didn’t really seem to “get it.” I’m still alive tho without a hospital visit!

Took my 86 year old mum here for her birthday. The most important thing for me that day was she felt that she was looked after, and she certainly was; several of the staff team either helped her to her seat, helped her with her plate, and helped her back again. Really caring team and we were well served at our table by Elvita. Our carver was Sylwia who gave good portions and friendly service. Looks good after its refurbishment, we'll be back.
