Odyssey Fish and Chips in Eastbourne

“Large” cod and chips - £16.40 plus £3 delivery. Say no more.

Delivery quick but they seem to just open and close when they feel like it. Website says open but closed. Why have opening times on website when clearly not real

Ordered food for four including two regular cod, but despite the cost of this restaurant the size of the regular cod was the size of a large fish finger. When my wife rang up to complain about the size she was angrily told that it was the standard size of the fish, and that he had personally cooked the order - clearly he was happy with the meager portions. The person we dealt with was rude and obnoxious and wanted us to post a picture of the portion sizes so that people where aware... So here it is. Needless to say we won't be returning, and I would advise you to avoid this place, unless you want a light snack and pay a premium.

Whilst there is a rise in the cost of living and it affects businesses, but to charge £11:00 for 3 sausages and mash is rather steep, people will buy their own or go elsewhere in comparison, you might re-think this?😡👎 Since since the last time I ordered online 7/2/24 I have been unable to order via JustEat and get the impression they're no longer taking orders online, shame.

Was told 50 mins when ordering, turned up after 80 mins barely warm after being shown as 'on its way' for at least over half that time on their own website. When I called up to find out just why my food was barely warm, I was greeted with an astonishing level of attitude by a young person called 'Millitza' who at first questioned the validity of my phonecall, saying that she personally sent it out (of which I didnt doubt) and that there was no way it could arrive that lukewarm, but when I asked WHEN it was sent out, she couldnt tell me (btw she also couldnt explain why the food went from 'piping hot' to barely warm within a direct 2 mile journey either) instead I was treated to this comedic line 'the driver said it felt warm', which apparently is satisfactory enough in their eyes?. After not being able to get an answer to the above question despite asking a few times, I was finally told to 'go and complain to Foodhub (?) and take it up with them instead'. I had been a loyal customer of theirs for many years even though the quality of their food had slipped in recent years but not any more as there are many other restaurants out there that will actually care about their customers.. Avoid disappointment, go elsewhere.

Came out from the Cinema at 7.30pm and fancied fish and chip in the Odyssey restaurant but by the time we got there around 7.45pm was told the restaurant was now closed, but the take away service was open. Blimey I suppose they wanted an early night as Eastbourne was still buzzing with people. 🤷‍♂️

Got bumped for the drink and then sachet sauce that wouldn't satisfy a borrower for 20p tight.

Good food and so close to the beach.

Waited hour and a half (told 45 minutes), tried calling repeatedly but got no answer, food was cold when it finally arrived and food was not even nice when it got here. Supposedly large cod was nothing of the sort but had plenty of grease to make up for it. Would call to complain but they won't answer the phone. Last time I order from these jokers

Just received our order nearly half an hour late from the time requested. Food absolutely stone cold. Soggy and just all in all horrible! For the price for delivery and the amount we paid for a couple bits this was just dame right rediculus!!! Will never order again! What a waste of money and a disappointment!!

Used to love this place, calamari was disgusting and over priced. To much pepper in the seasoning. And the staff were not very welcoming. No hi welcome just “no toilets no sitting inside & your food will be in take away carton only”

Shuts a lot before 10. Which is irritating if you go there specifically for some food. Went there the next day and it was not impressive at all.

Delicious, even with there more expensive weekend/holiday rate. Chips were perfectly cooked, fluffy, chrispy and tasty, the same with the cod and not too greasy either.

Wow… amazing food, amazing staff. Really don’t get the reviews saying it is poor… I travel up and down the south coast and this is by far one of the best. May I mention how good the curry sauce was, actual curry sauce not the fake one with clumps of white stuff in it. Keep it up guys defo coming back!!

I am a coach driver visiting Eastbourne and one of my elderly passengers had a fall and was taken to hospital and missed there evening meal, when they returned to the hotel I tried a few places to get them some dinner delivered and once my situation was explained to the gentleman answering the phone he was more than happy to help even though they were not doing deliveres this time of night, also food was amazing. Many thanks for your amazing help and delicious food 10/10

Really great little spot near the coast. The battered cod was really crispy and flavoursome and portion size was really decent. Person who served us was really kind and helpful. Would highly recommend it.

If I could give a zero score I would. Sent me the wrong fish and when I phoned them they replied my order must have been misheard and there's nothing they can do about it. This is not acceptable it ruined my meal as I don't like cod. Will not recommend this chippy and certainly will not order from them again. Be warned you'll get no satisfaction if you call them with a complaint all you'll do is waste your phone credit.

Very good tasty and fresh cod fish and chips. Fish was very good not at all greasy or dry We ordered just before closing time after day out with kids on the beach. Staff was so friendly kind and accommodating. Sat outside. Food was served very quick and was reasonably priced. Large cod and chips could feed 2 people Huge portion sizes. Which is better than less.

Over an hour wait.. wrong food arrived. An was awful my fish tasted like it had been cooked with chicken. Foul

DO NOT GO! Honestly, the food and service was horrendous. Not worth it at all, we told the guy at the till to suggest some of the local favourites, he didn’t even bother helping. The food was dry, not edible at all. Lots of other nice places nearby , save yourself the time.

Came for a day trip, and I had a battered jumbo sausage.way better than the ones in London.

Absolutely terrible service first a minimum order requirement which is £15 they called back let me know id only £11.50. I said id pay delivery no problem it which is fine then an hour later I call them to see where my order was,It forgottenabout. they said they i was picking it up I said why would you take my address and post code if it wasnt a delivery . Shocking service .

Never open when you want them to be. Bloody useless.

Burgers are really nice but these desserts are meant to be the same... extremely disappointed that one is so much bigger than the other, kids gonna argue!! No way to email in or send messages, always got to call. I don't like phoning 😒

I just order for me and friends from there and I'm 😞 disappointed. Large cod ,was more butter than fish . On top of that they can't remember one order with 3 different thinks. No thanks

Very disappointing!! Ordered scampi and chips with lemon & tartar sauce as written on menu. Came without tartar or lemon, when I asked the staff they said its extra cost. Why do you write its included on outside board? Reply.. 'That's for the restaurant' There is actually no restaurant, only take away options! So my point is simple: don't advertise what you don't provide. It's called 'Misrepresentation" and is actually breaking consumer laws. Also the chips were cold and portion small for £9.10. And train your staff in customer service skills.

Normally i have a great meal, but tonight's was awful, chips and cod were hard, fudge cake slice was half the size and churros were like rock, disappointed odyssey!

My first experience eating fish and chips in Eastbourne is memorable and it’s not for the good.the male staff serving guessing it was the manager was extremely rude large fish and chips - fish extremely small and the size of chips were regular chips had no flavour. This is not the best yet quite pricey. Don’t make the mistake I did and find the best that is the taste of Eastbourne

Was admittedly a quiet evening, but met by friendly staff and served quickly. Nothing fancy, but decent fish and good prices. Would go there again.

I orded 2 steak and kidney pie and regular cheesy chips chips was not great greasy and the pies came cold and not great they normally lovely but tonight it wasn't that's quiet disappointing :/ don't know if I can eat from you guys again I never really complain.

Shambles. Was queuing for over 45 minutes for food just to be told that they were no longer taking food orders. This was at 09:30pm , restaurant closes at 10pm. Two of the workers there were so rude , do not bother going here. Customer service is non existent. Can’t believe they speak to customers like that !

Absolutely disgusting customer service. The woman serving was just rude. When challenged just became ruder. She didn't even remotely care about her customers. I demanded a refund and cancelled my order. Went along to qualisea and the difference was day and night. They couldn't have been more helpful.

Ordered a takeaway. Delivered just under an hour late. Not much meat on the fish. Battered sausages were like concrete. Pastie had no flavour. Chips were nice Best fish and chips I’ve had are Bamboo Garden Eastbourne

Ordered large cod ..looked large but 3 inches both ends were batter .paper thin very little actual cod .husband ordered small cod and got more fish !

although this place advertises that is is open until 10:pm. we arrived at 9:30pm to be rudely told that it in fact closes at half past 9. as a 64 year old couple, we were pretty much pushed out of the door, we were shocked at the attitude of this place. i would advise that others after the same type of cuisine, visit one of the many other restaurants in the area. even the menu is wrong online with much higher prices on their in house menu. we did check that the online info was correct at the time. as a result we were confident that it would be accurate as it had been updated one week prior. we shall not be visiting this place again and advise others to stay well clear.

Good service great food fast delivery

Lovely food and relatively quick service. The staff could be a little friendlier though but other than that, it's a good place to grab a quick bite and enjoy it by the beach.

Good chips. Like they stay fresh after 20 mins. Good food and fairly decent price.

I am am a bit of a chips and curry sauce connoisseur so I am fussy about where I get it from!. Odyssey is definitely my go to !. Curry sauce is to die for. Only moan is the pots of sauce are fairly small but quality before quantity I suppose.

The customer service here is extremely poor. I phoned up to ask if their chips were gluten free as im a coeliac and the man who answered was really rude and dismissive, he didn't even know what gluten or wheat was! I politely explained that it's the batter and he just talked over the top of me. Definitely won't be visitng here any time soon.

Absolutely a lovely fish and chip shop, food Always excellent, are friendly and quick to serve.

Expensive and Small Portions... Paid for the "go large" fish and chips meal deal and got a childs portion of cod on a huge bed of cold chips... Asked for an extra tray to spilt with the kids and fryer wanted to charge extra 😲... Wake up "Odyssey" or go bust... Didn't even offer salt and vinegar :((

Ordered ribs and chips, which the chips were ok, quite greasy but oh my were the ribs awful. Rock solid overcooked no flavour more bone then meat. THE MEAT WAS CRISPY INSIDE FROM HOW OVERCOOKED IT WAS. just go to qaulisea just round the corner. Pretty much stole the name and made it more boring

Our telephoned orders are always taken by a polite & helpful member of staff as is the delivery guy. Think their food is the best in the area, always fresh and always hot. Would highly recommend their fish and chips. Crispy thin batter on pure white cod. Yummy.

No signage on the outside of the shop to indicate you order at the door, lady on the desk was rude upon entering, clicking her fingers (which I personally find incredibly rude customer service) chef was polite though hence the 2 star and not one star review.

We so wish we could give zero stars. Avoid this restaurant even if it means you have to make fish and chips at home. We don't know who the previous reviewer spoke to regarding a delivery to a wrong address, but we definitely did not get that helpful employee! Bottom line: meal delivered to wrong address. Extremely rude employee would not make things right. We will not be getting dinner. We will NEVER eat at this establishment again and will do all we can to ensure others don't either. We ordered our meal via Uber Eats. The delivery time was to be between 6:45pm and 7:15pm. At 7:30 we rang the restaurant to check on delivery status. The girl who answered the phone informed us the order had been delivered. We, of course, assured her it had not. She told us the address they used and we let her know they had the wrong address. We looked on the app and it absolutely has the correct address. In fact, in the "further instructions" we even made a note that our Flat is on the 3rd floor. The girl could not have been more rude and unhelpful! She kept insisting the address I was telling her is not the address they have and implied we were lying. Or minimally that we put in the wrong address into the app. We understand things go wrong with tech. Perhaps somehow they got an address from Uber Eats that was an error. We offered to send screen shots showing the address in the app. She was not interested. Our tough luck we didn't get our dinner. Even though the people who received the food told the restaurant it was a mis-delivery the restaurant refuses to make it right by us. I'd post the screenshots showing the address in the app and the phone number (which they also said was wrong), but to protect our privacy I'm not able to do that. P.s. The phone number they said was wrong was verified by Uber Eats as correct via the "confirmation text" they send when you add your phone number.

Average, soggy chips and expensive

Out food took nearly 2 hours to be delivered and the spare ribs were totally burnt and inedible,a waste of time and money.

Over an hour and a half wait for a fairly small delivery is ridiculous. I understand it’s a Friday but still, I wouldn’t have expected to wait almost 2hours for a delivery

Got the order backwards ie chilli sauce on the wrong burger and mayo on the other wrong burger, patheic amount of salad. food turned up 50 min early, so I was still down the shops etc... "not our problem"... Terrible customer service, nice food though when it's correct

I ordered a Cod and Chips, which was amazing! The chips were fluffy and the cod was soft, service was slower than i anticipated considering there was only one person in front of me (this may have been due to COVID-19) overall, a great chippy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fresh fish and chips...loved it. Plus they pay extra caution during the lockdown period...takeaways and delivery only. They do however have a minimum spend of 15pounds and surcharge for deliveries!!

I ordered fish, chips and mushy peas for my wife and I during "Lockdown" on 27th April. I was told it would be delivered within the hour. It was actually delivered in twenty minutes. The staff, including the lady who delivered the food, were very polite and efficient. The food was piping hot and delicious. Thank you very much, to all at Odyssey Fish and Chips.

Ordered of just eat twice so far it has always arrived on time,polite delivery staff and has always been hot.we ordered large cod which was delightful,the chips were lovely and the curry sauce is the best I’ve tasted.its got the big thumbs up from me.

Ordered on deliveroo last week after 3hours they cancelled it not deliveroo issue but restaurant as they do there own delivery.AVOID THIS TAKEAWAY

I use this place every time I go to Eastbourne and eat it is a typical Fish and Chip Shop but the food is always excellent freshly cooked and a wide variety of fish.one thing I like is you can have it grilled if you need it as well as traditional fried

Opted for delivery. About 40 minutes late to arrive. Lukewarm but edible. Hoped for; hot food. Didn't happen. Hoped for some kind of we are running late message. Didn't happen.
