Old Mill in Warwick

I had the pleasure of staying here for 5 days. The accommodation was very comfortable. The room was spacious with a table and couple of chairs to provide an alternative seating area compared to most chain hotels where your only option is the bed. I was also impressed with the smart features available on the TV which you could take for granted these days but isnt availble everywhere so nice to see here. My room was kept clean and tidy all week and we had no issues with it at all. Our primary takeaway from the Old Mill was that the staff couldn't be friendlier. We had wee chats with many of them during our stay and they made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. Unfortunately during our visit the river at the rear had become swollen due to melt water from snow and burst over the walls. This caused flooding throughout much of the bar, restaurant, reception and elsewhere. The staff's response to this was to be commended, they remained calm and reassuring whilst continuing to provide outstanding service in the face of significant adversity (they were stepping over sandbags through floodwater to pour us a pint!). We were unable to dine at the hotel for one evening due to the flood damage. Having dined at another local restaurant that night we were reminded by way of their slapdash, poor service of how good the staff here are. We would like to thank the team here, Sam, Lois, Zuz, lovely team leader whose name we forgot/didn't catch and others. You were all wonderful and really made our stay. I would recommend this for a good quality and reasonably priced evening meals. The mixed grill i had was excellent along with the addition of rosemary spriggs to both the chicken burger and the chicken strips just added a lovely extra flavour and scent. The trio of roasts available on the Sunday menu was also not to be missed. The beer was also excellent. If I lived nearby i'd be a frequent visitor. I would recommend for both a stay, along with a visit to the restaurant or bar. There isnt much else nearby so i've knocked off a star for location.

Been to the old mill frequently, the food is lovely and the pints are always good. The services is brilliant and a big thanks to Abi and Jordan who ensures an enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend this pub.

Just popped in for food Lois was a great host, looked after us really well.

The building, decor etc is very nice, but the food is truly awful. Ordered halloumi fries that tasted like they had been cooked in bad oil or perhaps put into cold oil, they were very oil logged with an aftertaste. Ordered a vegetarian salad that came with bread that was so hard it was impossible to bite or cut and which damaged my tooth enamel when i tried to bite. Nice place for a drink, but in all honesty, avoid the food. It looked like they were understaffed today too.

One EV charger completely out of action. The other charging at 25v or 38ccs. The pub was nice last time we visited, but couldn't go in today because we had to go find a charger

Surya on Christmas Day was our server. She was absolutely amazing. Friendly, helpful and smiley. Few people want to work on the big day bit she was amazing. Tha k you Old Mill but kudos to Surya

The quality of food was really good and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The only issue really was the table that was on the side of the walkway through so felt quite exposed...in hindsight we should have asked to be moved. We also stayed over and the room was amazing.

Had a family meal here, the food here is good, typical chef and brewer style, but the setting is lovely- open fire, ceiling beams, full of character. The service was fantastic, our waitress Surya was so attentive and lovely, a real asset to the pub :) thanks again for a great experience!

We came for a family Christmas dinner on the 23rd and we had a lovely time thanks to our waitress Surya. She was really friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble! Thanks for a great celebratory meal!

Always like the Old Mill Baginton. Nice food and friendly staff. That review was true at the date printed but This week my family had a table booked for 6 people but the spirit of goodwill was obviously missing. My so surprised us with a visit so I phoned to ask if we could add him to our table. I said we don't mind squeezing him in but the Grinch said that not allowed! Really is one more person at our table a fire risk? So I cancelled the table and found a friendly restaurant.

Booked late after a visit to Warwick castle, easy and pleasant booking system. On arrival, greeted and showed to our table and service was excellent! Our waitress Lois was amazing, made our first visit very pleasant. Food was prompt and amazing, we had the 2 course Christmas menu and ve egg satisfying ready for our drive home When in the are will 100% visit again Thankyou Robert

The staff were very helpful and attentive and our waitress Lois was great, very personable. The room was big with everything you required for a short stay. The room was showing the start of wear on the carpet and some loose trim in the bathroom, thus the four star rating. Cleanliness was very good. The hotel is very convenient if travelling to Coventry, Warwick or Stratford Upon Avon.

We had a really average meal here the other Sunday, left quite disappointed..an incorrect order and an overcooked meal, BUT service was still good, AND have been many times before and it's always been really really good. might just not go on a busy festive Sunday again.

Just had a lovely morning coffee with the family which we do most weekends while walking the dog,we are always made welcome & the service as always is excellent especially Sam, Zeus,Tory & Mark, thank you.

Recent Business Trip Nov 2024 • business I recently stayed here on two separate occasions, within one week, with a work colleague. The rooms are a little tired but clean. The hotel building needs some investment from the Chef & Brewer chain, both internally and externally, to lift it from good to superb. However, the food and drink on offer is of a very high standard and the staff are amazing and look after you very well. Special thanks to Marc the manager who helped out with a set of jump leads and a jump start one cold morning. He went out of his way and saved us from a long wait for the RAC to turn up! Many thanks Marc. I would definitely stay here again and would happily recommend it.

Lovely friendly helpful staff. Room needs some tlc! Bedroom had so much potential but was tired. Bathroom really needs some upgrades & paint! Roof lots of black (looked like mould!) Tap leaked. Bath filled up while running shower. Signal for phones very poor.

A warm welcome on arrival for our overnight stay. Good food and a cosy ambience. The staff were really friendly. I don't know her name, but the young girl on breakfast service in the morning was a real star. Would definitely recommend.

Great place for a selection of drinks

I've visited the Old Mill a lot over the past 25 years as it used to be my local pub for 10 years. However, I've now lived in Yorkshire for over 9 years and this is the first time I've stayed in the Hotel for a long time. I regularly stay in Baginton village for work (weekly) and mostly alternate between The Old Mill and The Oak to eat. Currently (November '24) The Oak is transitioning between owners and their food is not up to standard. The Old Mill maintains a decent quality so is my preferred option. Service can be a bit indifferent in the restaurant although check-in service at the hotel was good. The Hotel is generally well maintained and is in a traditional style so doesn't feel dated. Some aspects do feel like they need a bit of maintenance/improvement - e.g. the patio door hinges were a bit difficult to close and when I moved into the room (on a very cold night) there was a bit of a draught and I could hear traffic through a gap in the door. I did manage to get this resolved and the heating in the room was very effective indeed. I was surprised that there were no smart TV options available in the room - or at least that I couldn't easily access them.

We had a lovely time and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The food was great and we would definitely visit again.

Another excellent meal here at The Old Mill highly recommend 👌 the garlic roast with potato's, just amazing!!!

Three of us, as family group visited today for lunch. We pre-booked and had requested an easily accessible table due to my sister’s mobility issues. We were allotted a lovely table by the log fire and the service from start to finish was 5 star, as was the delicious food from a diverse menu. Full marks to the lovely Kimberley, both friendly and attentive, despite the demands of a very busy restaurant. I had the Vegetable Grill which was extremely tasty, as were all three meals and there was a great selection of desserts. It is nice to see a menu inclusive of, and catering so well for vegetarian and vegan customers with some lovely options too. We have never had a bad meal here, it is somewhere to rely on with both quality food and quality service in a warm and historic setting.Thank you.

Throughly enjoyed both my stay and the food. I stayed for 3 nights for business and as a lone female felt safe. The check in was easy, informative and pleasant check in lady. I did however have the furthest room to walk to. Room was clean tidy and cosy. The restaurant was welcoming and the food was properly some of the best pub food I have had in a long time. I would say that the only thing that was a little annoying was waiting to be acknowledged by the staff. I made a point of booking every night I was there. I could see they were busy. I would recommend and return if in the area

Popped in on the off chance for Sunday lunch. Had to sit in the bar as the restaurant was fully booked, but that was fine. Excellent trio roast dinner, and the kids enjoyed their younger menu options. Would definitely go again!

Came for a Sunday roast and ended up with a Sunday disappointment. Second trip with poor service ( having to chase down staff after 20+ minutes of waiting). In terms of the food, meat was top notch but unfortunately the veg wasn't seasoned at all and seemed undercooked with a strange taste. Would probably advise dodging this one if you're after a decent roast.

Lois is the most pleasant hostess making everyone around her smile .. great food great value definitely be back hopefully Lois will be here when we return.

Popped in for lunch - Fabulous staff, but unexpectedly poor food: The scampi was as basic as if it were the reheated contents from the freezer section of Iceland and I made the mistake of asking for the crispy squid on a bed of watercress... Half a dozen flaccid strips with four bits of watercress that looked like they'd come from yesterday's bin, probably weighing 3 grams altogether... The waitress asked the chef for another one in the hope that it might get cooked more and come with a mouthful of watercress but the improvement was negligible so I declined and was spared paying for it. Perhaps the description in the menu simply exceeded the presentation possible for the £8+ cost... Photo attached. I'm not used to complaining so even though the staff were charming, I felt so uncomfortable that we just wanted to leave

Visited many times and another great experience. Took advantage of the lunch and drink offer for £10 - excellent steak sandwiches with fries and salad. Level Head Session IPA on draught. Amy who served us was friendly and efficient. Would recommend here.

Been to the Old mill many many times over the years. Also spent the night. I don’t know what happened to this place or who runs it now but it’s an absolute disgrace. You could always be sure something on the menu was good and staff were excellent. The staff are lazy and the chief I wouldn’t even like to guess. The food is diabolical,,,

Warwickshire around the university is very badly served for meals on a Sunday night at pubs. Found the Old Mill was serving then and booked in for 8pm Sunday night. A little disconcerting on arrival to find the restaurant welcome desk not manned. Went to the bar and they found someone to get us a table. Table service was excellent. I had 'Toad in the Hole' which came very quickly and was beautifully served with the sausages and the batter in a small skillet on the plate with the mashed potato and broccoli on the side. Top quality sausages too. I had a pint of draft Peroni to wash it down. Total cost £22. Very charming waitresses gave very pleasant service.

This has to be one of the worst sunday roasts my husband and I have ever eaten out. It was just awful I had the rump beef and although it was tender it had the strangest taste and texture The roast potatoes were not roast potatoes barely cooked The waitress was lovely and when she asked if we were enjoying our meal and I said unfortunately not asked me if I would like a different meat so I had some turkey which was far better than the beef I might be wrong but i actually don't think it's fresh meat no taste! Will not go back to the old mill very very disappointing!

My husband is going through chemotherapy and we decided to go on a date for Sunday lunch. We arrived and the host passed us over to a young girl called Liz who showed us to our table. Liz was our waitress and looked after us from start to finish. Liz was polite and very attentive. I asked about the special goats cheese and she explained in detail what the dish was. I'm also a picky eater and decided to have the Sunday roast beef with no veg. I only like cabbage and broccoli and Liz made sure I got them both on my meal. Amazing service. Will definitely return.

Stayed overnight after visiting friends and had dinner and breakfast, food was amazing and presentation spot on. Staff are friendly and polite. Hotel room, welcoming, warm and spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again when in Coventry. Well done to Mark and his team 👏

Beautiful hotel, beautiful village. Big car park, 2 electric charging stations. Staff are really friendly and happy. Food is amazing. Theres a fort within walking distance if you have the kids.

We have always enjoyed coming to the Old Mill unfortunately last Saturday we were not impressed with the service or meal. Two of our party had chosen the sirloin steak and were told they didn't have any then we were informed they had found some! Maybe it was cooked straight from the freezer we have no idea because it was awful and very tough to eat.The chips were bland and for the cost it was terrible! We were celebrating a birthday therefore we didn't complain on the night as we wanted it to be an enjoyable evening.We wont be returning in a hurry!

Had lunch excellent food and service

Arranged to meet a friend for coffee locally but due to road closures & other cafes being closed we arrived at the Old Mill & they delivered not only a much needed coffee but lunch too! Thank you to Sam who greeted us as we walked in, made sure there were coffee beans for 2 & left the menus with us to peruse, we promptly placed an order & enjoying our time catching up.
