Rowan Tree in West Lothian

I ordered Veggie Pizza and it arrived very sparsely covered with toppings. 25% had no toppings at all. When I advised staff that this was not satisfactory I was told that ‘there is a set amount they can put on the pizza”. Utterly ridiculous reply and no other statement from the staff member who then walked away. Won’t be back due to both the quality of food and staff attitude.

Our wee visit on the 30th August 2024 was for our sons 23rd Birthday, We all had a brilliant time with Craig & his team looking after us. We all ordered drinks 1st, 1 bottle 75cl prosecco 2 pints of Inch's cider and a can of Irn-Bru, Our 2 boys had starters, Mac & Cheese bites and Mac & Cheese with pulled pork, both were delicious. Our main courses were, Pepperonis pizza, Surf & Turf, Donner Kebab last but not least Fish & Chips (what was the size of a whale). Everything was perfect, steak cooked to perfection and the fish batter was super crispy! (Thank you). The birthday boy, finished off with a chocolate brownie cake and ice cream. We are looking forward to our next visit to The Rowantree Restaurant in Armadale. Please pass on to Craig & his team, Thank You so much you all give us a fantastic service. 😍🥃

Fantastic Service, food was excellent perfect place for Christmas dinner

I booked a slot for an evening celebration, only to be called on the day of to be informed that my reservation had been cancelled because the venue closes at 6 PM. This was incredibly confusing since there were booking slots available online until 8 PM. Nowhere was it mentioned that the restaurant closes earlier—what’s the point of having these times listed if they’re not accurate? To make matters worse, the person on the phone was shockingly rude and dismissive. There was no recognition of the fact that this was a birthday dinner or that the fault was entirely on their end. A simple apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused would have gone a long way, but instead, the interaction felt cold and unprofessional. This combination of “technical glitches” and abysmal customer service is unacceptable. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others. Disappointing doesn’t even begin to cover it.

We booked online which was easy to do and received a reminder by text the day before. Table area was clean when we arrived. Server (Claire) took our drinks order as soon as we arrived and had shown us to our table. Ty served our drinks quickly. Our food order was taken within a good time, didn’t feel rushed to order but didn’t take ages to order either, timing was perfect. Food order arrived in good time too, all freshly made, hot and tasty, think we all finished. I would say the only thing after 3 of us were finished, my youngest hadn’t quite finished and the girl came to take our plates before he finished, not a major issue at all but he then felt he had to finish so his plate was taken. Our bill was brought over straight away and we paid at the bar as requested. The whole process was smooth and the restaurant was busy. It’s my youngest sons favourite place to eat so we will defo be back! Merry Christmas to you all!

Waste of time going here if you are disabled with a dog. The food was ok.

Friendly staff and above average food for this type of establishment. A little pricey for a 3 person meal so be sure to look out for the vouchers they regularly send out.

Quick and friendly service as always and wee one loves getting a teddy or 2 out the machines. Good is amazing and hot. Lots to choose from even for the the wee one.

Food was nice enough, although we had to ask for our sides as they were not brought with the meal. I had asked for no spicy maple sauce, but for some reason I was not given either of the sauces, I asked for the missing BBQ sauce. But later I found that we had been charged an additional £2 or so each for the BBQ sauce that was meant to be part of the meal. No staff came to ask how our meal was or if everything was ok. Awkward moment at till where we felt obliged to pay about £6 in gratuity. Overall, this experience was substandard and we were overcharged, we will not be rushing back.

This is a very nice relaxing place to go for a catch up with friends or a special occasion with family, every meal i have had here i have thoroughly enjoyed. Definitly one of my special places to go and the prices are good to .

An excellent service by Craig and the team on Sunday for dinner. No matter which team is on the food is always good and there’s always a friendly welcome. Highly recommended.

The Rowan Tree is highly regarded locally which has staff able to make each guest feel special and the ability to remember their likes & dislikes from previous visits. This is professionalism at is best. Keep doing what you doing.

Service was quick and efficient. The portion amounts are good value for money. All staff were very attentive. Overall excellent experience.

There was some confusion over our booking but resolved by helpful staff.Food was quite good but the Nan bread seemed to have been warmed in the microwave and was a bit leathery ! The staff serving were great with an atmosphere that is relaxing and comfortable. A bit on the expensive side now .

Furthermore if we wanted to wait then it must be done outside as there is no room at the bar , We stood there for another 5 mins and heard another server say there would be tables in 2 hours We then proceeded outside to stand in the cold and ordered through the app to our table Outside Food came quickly and servers were great, more than can be said for front of house , The girl with glasses was as much use as a chocolate tea spoon and even after having had dinner outside in the cold we came back inside to see multiple empty booths an tables,then too top it all off her friends came in with no reservation and she sat them down immediately, I know this because I heard her ask if they had booked , .thanks for nothing Not the service I expect to a long time marsdens customer Do better

It was quiet when we arrived for an early Sunday lunch so difficult to rate the atmosphere. Good choice of food, arrived hot and reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Plenty of on-site parking.

Served by Rebecca , she provided excellent service and was very attentive. She works hard throughout her shift and nothing is too much bother for her, a great member of the team.

Service by staff excellent food lovely but very skimpy portions there was 7 of us for lunch and everyone felt the same. Three got burgers but came with only a small amount of chips we also ordered a macaroni with salad and garlic bread and salad was a spoonful on the plate and it was the same with the lasagna. Everything was tasty but just a bit miserable on the sides that came with the meal. If you want to succeed at the prices you want to charge and encourage people back consider this how much does it cost for extra fries or a decent amount of salad on a plate.

Lovely food and staff - faultless.

Just been for a meal with the family and it was honestly terrible, breaded mushrooms where mush inside you get better ones from a cheap supermarket definitely frozen and of poor quality. I had the BBQ pizza and it was barely cooked not even a bit of colour on it and everything just sliding off, pizza guy needs more training. Staff never offered other drinks after the first ones spas to busy standing talking.defo won’t be back.

Had booked a table for 4:00 got the table no problem had ordered drinks then took our order for our mains they came out and where good we then had to wait ages on the boy coming to clear the table and my dad said we were going to order dessert he said he would just clear the table then come back and take our order he went behind the bar and it was a wee while waiting on him coming back so just went and got the bill very disappointed we never got to have dessert shame

Came here for dinner with my mum after being at my niece's birthday party as they live nearby before heading home, staff very friendly, we both had the gammon followed by a coffee, was really nice, noticed it's child friendly with having highchairs and a separate wee play area for them

(Thursday steak night) One particular staff member, Claire, went above and beyond to make my evening special. Her friendly demeanour and genuine care were evident in every interaction. Two couples had a Sunday evening meal at this very friendly and welcoming Pub. Our friends live locally and are regulars and we were visitors from Bristol. ( Believe me the prices are much higher in Bristol area than here.) We had the Sunday roast which was very good, sensible helpings of Turkey and the trimmings. The young waitress was really helpful and pleasant as was the Manager who had a chat with us. We all rounded off with Jam roly poly with very hot custard. Good food experience in pleasant surroundings.

Visited the Rowan Tree with my family for a birthday celebration & had a wonderful experience, from start to finish the staff were outstanding. Our order was taken promptly by Keeva our meals arrived exactly ordered & piping hot. Keeva checked on us through out our meals to see if everything was ok & if we need anything. Massive thank you to the team for making our visit so enjoyable.

My partner has eating issues but she loves it here foods on point we will be back for sure close to home
