Small and intimate curry restaurant, food is excellent and staff great. We moved to Richmond 12 months ago from Bradford and found this to be the best place to eat.

Came in from out of town and found this gem of an Indian. Reviews were good anyway, but we had a great meal and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Service was as good as the food and we both said it was the best Indian we'd had in a couple of years. (I can recommend the Karahai). Thanks to everyone for a lovely meal, and the rose was a nice touch.

This place is beyond anything I have ever eaten at, you come in and go up the stairs and when you come in you’re greeted with smiles and a warm welcome, they are straight to attending to you and your needs. The food is delicious and is always hot even after a drive home. They give big portions and both times I have been they give complimentary popadoms and chutneys. They offer you a seat if you’re taking out or they can call you when the food is ready. It’s a quick service either way. When leaving both times they have given me a rose as a thanks for eating with them.

Came upon this gem of a restaurant by accident after a day out in The Dales. Great food. We had onion bajis to start followed by Chilli Marsala Chicken for my wife and a Lamb Dupiaza for me with vegetable pilau rice and a great big naan bread that came on a tree dominating our table. All absolutely delicious. You can take your own alcohol in too as no license for drinks. Would highly recommend the Royal India not just especially for the food, but also the staff team who are so friendly and attentive to your needs. Looking forward to visiting again next time we are in the area.

We had an excellent meal here with the whole party enjoying their choice of dishes. It's bring your own alcohol. Special bonus was the large birthday cake provided for my wife's birthday.

If you want to wait and wait then this is the place, ordered a takeaway at 7.00pm for delivery at 8.00pm waited until 8.30 chased them up, we are very busy at the minute your delivery is just leaving, meal turns up at 9.30, not the best meal not worth the extra delay. Poor show guys not the first time this has happened, gave you the benefit of the doubt first time but still the same, if you cannot meet the time-frames for the orders don't take the order in the first place.

My husband and I stayed for a night in Richmond and was in search of a good curry and we absolutely found one! Beautiful! Would re visit Richmond just for their curries!

Excited to try a takeaway from here based on all the amazing reviews. Found the curry disappointing and underwhelming. The mixed kebab starter contained what appeared to be an overcooked burger (??). The complimentary salad contained a very under-ripe/green bit of tomato and some slices of cucumber and lemon that were so dried out they appeared to have been cut several days ago. The rice was an unappealing grey colour. We eat a lot of curry and like to try out local takeaways while on holiday in different areas. Sadly, this one fell far short of the Tripadvisor hype.

Visited twice in a week while staying in Catterick The food is fabulous very flavoursome. Sat at a lovely window table for two. Plenty of room, very knowledgable and friendly staff. Will look forward to coming again next year.

Really good experience, we didn't book but they fitted us in. This is not a standard curry house, far higher standard of cookery. Very clean too judging by the care the young server took in cleaning the tables.

Went to this Indian while staying in Leyburn, so glad we did it was Excellent,food was great, service and hospitality of the staff was 1st class couldn’t fault anything about the place it was an absolute pleasure to dine there Highly Recommended

My first visit and I was not disappointed. Food was excellent. For starter I had the chef's special Fish masala and it was lo Ely. For .aims I had one of their signature dishes: Bangladesh Jhal chicken.it was nice and spicy!!!!

Really delicious, up north do indian the best that's for sure. We had starters, mains, nann and a rice and feeling very satisfied but not disgustingly full. Which is unusual for a curry. Our waitor Abit (I hope I spelt it right), was very attentive and lovely. Couldn't fault it! Its a must go

On holiday in the area. Read the reviews beforehand. Really, really good reviews for everything other than people not reading that they don’t serve alcohol - it’s a byo. We decided to order take-away for collection just for convenience. The restaurant is up a couple of flights of stairs which would have a challenged one of our group, in hindsight so we made a good choice. Regardless, the process of ordering online, collection, staff welcome, and food was excellent. And whilst I was waiting for my order ….a couple came in and was disappointed that no alcohol was available 🙄 Honestly, do your own research …or, Royal India, stick a big poster on the door and charge corkage (a lot of small restaurants do this in Bristol instead of paying for an expensive alcohol licence - a one-off £3 per person per evening who brings in their own alcohol - job done and no moaning Minnie’s!!!). We had Garlic Chilli Chicken, Chicken Tikki Masala, and Butter Chicken. The spicing on the Garlic Chilli Chicken was superb 👍

Had a Takeaway this evening and it was perfect and how I like it... Lovely food well cooked ,generous portions, great speedy service and complimentary pickle tray with poppadoms, I will be back very soon!!

We were on holiday in Richmond and ended up here by chance. What a fantastic restaurant this is. Excellent service and very tasty food. Top quality. I have been to several Indian restaurants that have won awards for the best curries, Royal India would beat them all. Too bad we can't take this restaurant home with us. The atmosphere is 4 stars because there were a lot of staff walking past the table. The restaurant is less efficiently designed in terms of kitchen and bar. Another tip, sometimes too much food is served and that is a shame. A gigantic naan on a stand looks nice, but is too much (ordered 1 naan). A large jug with mint sauce looks nice, but is overdone. Nothing but praise.

Very good. Got a takeaway from here, I normally go to the other big curry house in the area but I thought I'd give these guys a try. Absolutely fantastic. I collected, when I got home they'd forgotten an item, by the time I called them they had realised and they delivered the missing item within minutes. The poppadoms are particularly great, fluffy and crispy, my mixed grill was perfect, tender meat. Will definitely order from here again

We went here for dinner tonight the pickle tray was amazing, and so were all our main dishes . Dinner was amazing and at paying the bill gave us a rose very sweet touch.

This is a hidden gem that from the outside doesn’t really let the secret out of what is to. come. An unassuming place from the outside. Inside the restaurant you are met with friendliness and a spotless and very clean restaurant and service is carried out with a smile. The food was excellent and extremely tasty .A must try and you will not be disappointed

We stumbled across the Royal India when looking for somewhere that served tasty vegetarian food!! We asked inside first if they could cater for vegetarians and they could not have been more friendly and helpful. They immediately said they could do us any dish as a vegetarian option with paneer as this was our preference. They informed us that they do not serve alcohol, so we nipped to buy a bottle of wine and headed back. They had reserved us a lovely window table. The meal was excellent the best indian food we have eaten!! Such warm and accommodating people! We even went back the next evening! If we lived in Richmond this would definitely be our local!! Thank you for great service! Next time we are in town we will definitely be back!

We've been to this restaurant several times now and it's consistently good. All the staff are very helpful and pleasant, the orders are taken promptly and you don't wait long for your meal, which is hot and served nicely.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Richmond. It has a very nice view of the Richmond market square, especially if you sit in one of the window seats. It doesn't serve alcohol so take your own drinks or grab a bottle from Ken Warnes, just across the square. Nice decor. Food and service is always excellent.

Excellent curry, it was one of the best curries I have had. No Alcohol served but you can bring your own and there are no corkage charges. Staff really nice. Prices are reasonable and would definitely recommend!

We've enjoyed some incredible Indian restaurants over the years, but the Royal India had absolutely fantastic service, and outstanding food. Probably the best we've ever tried. We'll definitely be back for more!

My first visit and, although not a particularly lover of curries , I found the food delicious and was able to easily find a dish I enjoyed immensely. I had the Tropical Seafood, one of the restaurant's signature dishes, and for anyone who enjoys Seafood of any sort, I can thoroughly recommend it. The service was friendly and attentive and the fact that you can bring your own alcoholic beverages with you was a bonus. I would certainly recommend a visit and details can be found on TripAdvisor.

Absolutely beautiful night celebrating my Dads 70TH birthday. Food was amazing really tasty and even spiced up a tikka masala at request. To tip it off they provided a cake, beautiful, soft, and made with fresh cream. More than enough for 10 people plenty for a slice tomorrow. 10/10 added bonus you can take your own alcohol. X ❤️ 70th

Saw previous positive reviews of this restaurant and thought I’d give it a try. I was not disappointed the service and food was amazing would totally recommend. Firstly the staff were very friendly. Now the food: I went for the onion bhaji to start and was not disappointed would highly recommend. Finally the main I had a the chicken tikka jalfrezi. Definitely the best I’ve had in a long time.

The restuarant changed hands a while back and we stopped going as we believed they were closed on a Tuesday, which turned out not to be the case, We have now been 3 times and love it, the food is top notch and the staff and helpful and friendly, remember to take your own wine, there is no corkage charge

Had a fantastic meal at the Royal India. Pickle tray top notch with two types of onion. The mains were exceptional, not too much oil and really thick sauce. Keema rice nice and moist and really good naan. The staff were attentive but not too pushy. Do not serve alcohol but will let you bring your own. First time in Richmond but a trip to the Royal will be on the cards if I return

We are regulars here. Moved up from London a couple of years ago and craving a decent curry. Hit upon this lovely place and we come back often. Been as a couple, with friends and with family. We always get terrific, attentive service. Food is excellent. My mum recently ordered Aloo Gobi as a main and was delicious. I had Lamb Karhi beautiful and my partner had Chicken Passanda. We all ordered Persharwi naan and pilau rice too. Price is kept to a minimum as we bring our own alcohol. They provide glasses and no corkage charge. They always give us, complimentary dessert and a rose to take home. Perfect evening EVERY single time!

We love coming here. Staff are so welcoming and food is delicious. Caters for fans of medium spice to mild and furious! Veggie option always good. My mum asked for Aloo Gobi for a main, no problem. You can bring your own alcohol and no corkage charge, they provide glasses etc. Food taste really authentic and we always have a fab night out.

We have been coming here since it opened and have never been disappointed. The food is fantastic, dining in or take away, everything is delicious. All the staff are friendly and always make any visit a pleasure. With little touches that make all customers feel that little bit more specially treated. By far the best Indian restaurant in the area and possibly the best we have visited anywhere.

Lovely restaurant with great staff. The food was really nice. Me and my son got the Chicken Tikka Masala and my wife got the Chicken Korma which were all lovely but the cheese and garlic Naan was immense. Literally melted in your mouth. Highly recommend.

Visit royal india for my wifes 50th birthday food and service was excellent and to top everything off we were presented with a birthday cake to celebrate the occasion 5 STAR 🌟 superb restaurant.

What a fantastic experience from start to finish! A table of 6 of us dined here for my mother's birthday last night. We couldn't have been looked after any better. To top off a fabulous meal the lovely staff then surprised my mum with a beautiful homemade birthday cake. It absolutely made her night!
