Food was absolutely lovely! The service was horrificly slow though, no one was attentive to take quick drink orders etc, lots of staff about and restaurant wasn't really busy, waiters etc just walking past made ready drinks on the bar. Will return to see if this was just an off night hopefully was

The pizzas were simple, stuffed with lots of greasy cheese and some peperoni. Not well baked. Pasta with slow cooked beef was heavy. I will definitely not return.

Would go here over and over again. The food it’s amazing and really good portion size. Staff are friendly and welcoming, the cocktails are delicious 5* for me.

Very busy for a Tuesday evening in January with some big groups. They fit us in without delay though. Staff were attentive, the chefs seemed passionate and it really showed. The food was amazing, so full of flavour and came in good time, but not too quick either. This isn’t one of them same old Italian restaurants and certainly somewhere to try.

I recently had the chance to dine at this Italian restaurant, and the food was absolutely amazing! I had the olives, pulled shin pasta and a goats cheese and honey pizza which were all so good. However, as much as I adored the food, I can’t ignore how rushed the experience felt. We were seated and served quickly, and asked every minute if we were ready to order when we had only just sat down. After getting the food we were circled to see if we had finished eating, and asked to move in to a different room before we had even paid the bill. This is because we had a late table and they wanted to finish up, but we weren’t the last people to leave the restaurant. I feel that if booking a late table makes for awkward and rushed experience, maybe make your last booking time earlier so nobody has to experience this. This was especially disappointing since we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, which I had put on the booking notes. I had hoped for some acknowledgment but there was nothing. Not even “happy birthday” was said to him or anything which was quite disappointing as if I had known I wouldn’t have booked it for a celebration. So, while the food here is truly top-notch, if you’re looking for a place to celebrate something special, maybe keep looking.

Firstly, this review has come about after personally sending Santi's numerous emails (with read receipts) upon which I received no acknowledgement or response. They were given a fair chance before I have reverted to Tripadvisor. I have eaten here (Anlaby) before on a number of occasions and it was better than good. Alas we booked again, the last slot at 9pm on a weeknight. Bypassing some minor points (they called me back after a few minutes asking if I had cancelled the booking??) we were good to go. We arrived at the venue in good spirits at 8:55pm. From the outside we could see the place was empty aside from one table. Once inside we were met with that 'end of shift' look from the chefs who had clearly packed everything away and cleaned the kitchen. They looked dismayed at our presence. We told the first lady we had a booking. She told us they were CLOSED!!! Huh? We have a booking?? After a short while a lady who I can only assume was the manageress came over. Same conversation only she added we have tried to contact you twice. NO missed calls. Said lady then accused us of being late and looked down at her tablet - it read 9:02pm. Chef kindly offered to make us some 'pasta' dishes. We wanted to choose from the full menu. I told the manageress this was a pathetic situation - our full evening was focused around dining at Santi's. Note no swearing etc. Triggered. The 'manageress' took a great offence to the word 'pathetic' and became instantly aggressive and confrontational. At one point she threatened to call the police!!! We left hugely disappointed in the lack of professionalism from the 'managerless' and can only assume it is her first position in hospitality? Anger management issues without a shadow of a doubt. All this just for the sake of an early night. Is it really worth it?

Came in today for a meal for my brothers 18th! A lovely lady helped me with the decorations and cake for my brother and the staff made us all feel very welcome. The food was amazing, especially the steaks. Would really recommend this restaurant!

Food came fast, staff was lovely, atmosphere was great.

Visited last night. We'd pre-ordered as requested as there were 9 of us. The starters all came out at different times, some had finished before others had even received theirs. I ordered Burrata which should have come with grilled peaches and cherry tomatoes with honey and pesto and bread. They brought it to me and it was literally a ball of burrata and a few flakes almonds. I queried where everything else was and the waitress went off to check. She came back saying they don't actually do that starter anymore but haven't got around to removing it from the menu (along with a few other things they no longer offer) so they didn't have all the ingredients. Why on earth they accepted a pre order for something they no longer offer is beyond me and how the chef thought it was acceptable to allow it to leave the kitchen is astounding. Then came the mains. Again all pre ordered but still managed to get them wrong. 4 plates were sent back as they were cold including mine which was a chicken dish with poached egg. The poached egg was stone cold so when it was cut open the plate was covered in freezing cold yolk. It came back to me clearly microwaved with a half assed effort of a poached egg thrown on top. The other 3 dishes had clearly been microwaved and just put on different plates, they came back way too quickly to have been cooked fresh. For the price of the food I was extremely disappointed and will not go back. If I was the chef and saw the amount of uneaten food from our table I'd be rethinking my career choice.

I went here for a works meal. I'm not local, so I was definitely curious as to what Santis would be like and it definitely didn't disappoint. Food 10/10 - you can tell how fresh the food is Service 10/10 - nice staff, quick service. Price 10/10 - For what we paid. The quality was exceptional

Id heard nothing but good reports about this place so maybe my expectations were to high ...... We had an older member of staff serving and he was amazing ....we where there for 5 o'clock so busy but not over the top ..... We were sat at the back of the restaurant and it was actually cold .. which we did mention twice we were a party of 5 ....a couple of us just had starters rather than a full meal .... So not sure if there was a mix up somewhere but the mains came out about 6 30 .... None of the the food was as impressive as I had been told it was from a lady who goes regularly ... So maybe it was just a bad night ...... Then we were been rushed to leave because the food had taken so long to come .... No apologies given .... Might try again in the new year

Food of reasonable quality but wouldn't bother again with cocktails. There was no much Aperol or Prosecco in the Aperol Spritz, mainly ice and soda water.

This has to be one the best restaurants ever! I don’t say that lightly as it’s often hard to find a place that has absolutely wonderful, helpful and attentive staff. The food is utterly delicious with some super original dishes. Last night (a Saturday) the atmosphere was just perfect with some nice music playing and not too loud. I can’t recommend this fabulous restaurant enough. In fact I want to go back again right about… now!

This was hands down the best meal I've had in a long time. The food was exceptional, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The beer selection was also top-notch, with great service, I highly recommend this place to anyone!

We went here for an evening meal for four. Great service. All the meals we had were great quality and large. The portion sizes are impressive, to the point at which we all had our work cut out with just a starter and main course each. Price was good as well. I had the Polpetta (pork meatballs) for a starter and the Cotoletto with Rosemary and parmesan fries for the main course. No compliants at all about the food or drink. very minor comment, one of our party thought they could do with a couple less tables to help with space, as he was quite close the table behind. But that is a minor point, and I'd certainly not knock them any points off from the review. Would I recommend them? Yes, absolutely.

Straight to the point, best breakfast experience I can recall. The food and presentation was excellent. The Italian slant on the menus made choosing a difficult decision for now at least. I say this because every option on the menu I saw being served to other diners and they looked delicious. I will make it my business to try each over the coming months.

First visit, certainly won’t be my last. Absolutely loved everything about it, as a huge fan of Italy it had a really authentic feel and the food was delicious. Bellissimo 🥰

We visited Santi’s on Princes Avenue last Saturday night for dinner with friends. Sat at the high tables to the left of the restaurant. The area was full and lively with all different age groups, service was great and the food was wonderful. Decor is very tasteful and is very welcoming. Having visited both of the restaurants I would say Princes Avenue is the best. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you

Was really disappointed with Santis following hearing raving reviews. We arrived to be sat at a table that was placed directly under the bar/service area, meaning that waiters where leaning over the back of us to grab menus, drinks and even HOT!! Drinks!! Staff was constantly shouting over our table to bar staff regarding orders making the whole experience rather unpleasant and not enjoyable. When we got served our food, the waiter spilt steak juice all down the side of me, if it wasn’t for me noticing and leaning back it would have gone everywhere. The side plates where absolutely filthy underneath and then they got took away. We both had the steak, one was lovely and one wasn’t the best. The service and environment dragged down the whole experience.

Visited the new restaurant this evening and was greeted by the legend Daniele Romano. The decor and interior looked amazing. We all ordered starters which came very quickly. I ordered something that was not on the menu but they was happy to do for me. All main meals was cooked to perfection and I would definitely recommend if you have not been before. Keep up the great work guys. 👏👏👏

Very welcoming staff, all very good ,fun yet knowledgeable. Incredible open kitchen. The only drawback was the tables taken up by parents with children, some in prams, that took up 20% of the v small space. Love the Family Vibe but would prefer not to eat in a creche. Food outstanding

Lovely Italian restaurant, great choice of food, great decor and also seating outside if it's a nice day, the staff were fantastic and polite. Parking onsite and also plenty of street parking nearby, very authentic Italian restaurant, will definitely visit again, maybe on an evening next time.

2 of us went on a Tuesday lunchtime so it wasn’t very busy, 12 people in the entire restaurant. Sat down and got menus. Good 15 mins for drink order. We then ordered food. A pizza and a Caesar salad. It took SO long …. There was a very loud hoovering type noise from the kitchen, as if they were cleaning…. After 40 mins we finally got food which was ok but nothing outstanding.

Breakfast was really tasty and everyody was so friendly!

My Partner and I visited yesterday. The environment was lively and lovely to dine with the front windows open. Food was fresh and of good quality. I would deffo reccomend this fab restaurant and we will come back as soon as we can.

A great find while visiting the area for a skydive experience. We weren't sure what to expect but the service was extremely friendly and the food was just divine! I wish we had an Italian restaurant as good as this close to home. We definitely recommend visiting Santi's and experiencing such good, authentic Italian food.

Beautiful Italian experience! The food was amazing and the pasta cooked "al dente" to perfection. The amaretto cocktail and the afogato were out of this world! Atmosphere was nice, although too crowded and the tables fairly close to each other. After 9PM seemed to get quieter and it was better. All waiters were friendly and polite. There is a parking space available which is very useful. Price wise, unfortunately are on the expensive side, but the dishes have quality food and the portions were adequate. We had a lovely time there and we are surely going to return!

A beautiful restaurant situated in the small village of Anlaby. Santi's transports you to the Sicilian /Italian coast. With it's authentic flavours, staff and decor. Being able to see the chefs cook your food instead of being hidden away behind a wall, is a real personal touch. Santi's is the best Italian in the area, I would recommend booking for an evening meal, as it is packed out. We've visited a number of times and the service has been 5*, each waiter/ress has been personable and warming. The food is full of flavour and worth every penny. On our first visit we waited an hour between starters and main's but it was worth it. Even returning a few times more to enjoy the food. Even if you come and you find yourself waiting, don't grumble. The food is worth the wait. The only small issue I find I have, is as this Restuarant was renovated from a previous pub, the acoustics are not the best. When it is busy, I found it difficult to hear my family/partner and often found myself shouting. I would also inform individuals who are dining out here, that there is parking and remember to input your car registration on entry to Santi's or you may get hit with a fine. There is free parking (after 6pm) across the street, if needs be. All in all, a fabulous restaurant. Highly recommended.

This place deserves a Michelin star! You know the place is authentic when they don't serve ketchup! We were only in Hull for 3 days and we ate here twice because it was that good!

Santi’s used to be amazing, but more recently it’s disappointing.. when it first opened, it was something different, an authentic southern Italian restaurant, with a great atmosphere and great food. The service was exemplary, very attentive and friendly, warm and welcoming. Now it’s hit and miss. The basic Italian dishes are still great, but the atmosphere and service is random and often disappointing. Banging rave tunes on the balcony area, on a Friday afternoon are not relaxing, and ruin the experience. I’ve sent a couple of dishes back recently, as they were just inedible or badly cooked. The Primitivo wine from Puglia, at £27 per bottle used to be worth the price. Now it tastes like a cheap red, from who knows where, wrapped in the same paper wrapper… It’s such a shame and so unnecessary. It was the best Italian restaurant in the area. Now it’s just an above average pizza/pasta place . Maybe they overstretched themselves opening another restaurant on Princes Ave, so soon. I can honestly say it’s not been the same since…..

Visit with family to celebrate 60th birthday and we had a lovely afternoon. Some of the younger members of the family stated the service was slow, but I enjoyed the break between courses which made the afternoon an event. The food was so nice and be warned, don’t over order as the portions are very big. We had t Young children with us, which resulted in wasted food. Not the restaurants fault. I wished I had known the portion sizes. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely revisit, but only with adults.

We had an amazing meal here! We are a family of four with two children aged 11 and 8 who loved it just as much as the adults. All of the staff, but particulary Giacomo, were amazing, attentive and chatting animatedly. We shared the dips and rips to start which was huge and then enjoyed a calzone, carbonara and pizzas for our main. We've spent a lot of time in Italy and the dishes were amazingly authentic, absolutely superb and definitely the best we've had locally. The only issue we had is that we got too full and the kids didn't finish their food, but they did get the take the remainder home! The atmosphere was fab, busy and bustling with everyone having a good time. We loved seeing the food being prepared, especially the flames! We will definitely be coming back. Such a lovely evening with food being made and served as it should be!

We celebrated a friends 40th Birthday here last night. Absolutely superb! Food, drinks & the service was fantastic from start to finish. We stayed for around 3 hours and nothing was too much trouble. Loved the traditional feel to the place and the Italian gent who looked after us was great - as were all the staff 👍🏻 would definitely recommend and we will return without doubt. We had a lovely experience here. Food was beautiful and plenty of options on the menu. I'd definitely recommend Sugo beef pasta dish, absolutely amazing!! We had the pleasure of being served by Giacomo, he gave us a warm welcome and made sure we had our drinks quickly, he came and checked on us regularly during our meal, and you could see he really cares about his customers experience and is such a lovely and happy guy. Thank you so much Giacomo, this was our first meal out together since we got married recently, and you made it very special for us! A bit pricey but the food was outstanding as was the service. The place is quite small and has strange acoustics such that it was very difficult to hear people speak even sitting at the same table even though it wasn't very busy. I normally prefer background music in a restaurant but here it just added to the noise.

Visited Santi’s princes ave for the second time and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing, always guided by the staff and they always get it 10/10. Service was the best, such a small and intimate place which gives opportunity to get to know the staff. Will definitely be back P.S recommend amaretto sours and an expresso martini!!!

Best meal I had in England in 4 weeks. And best carbonara of my life!

Visited the restaurant on the bank holiday weekend with friends. When we arrived we were seated in a booth which was a squeeze for six people. We had to ask the staff if we could order our food as we were left for 30mins unattended. The staff seemed very very stressed rushing around the restaurant, knocking the menu off our table, dropping plates and leaving us without drinks and food for a very long time. Our table was booked for six and we had our starters at 8.30 due to the restaurant being so busy. When the starters came the man said the name of the dish very fast so we didn’t hear him. When we asked what it was he told us “you should know, you ordered it love.” The food tasted amazing and everyone loved their meal. However, the waiting time, lack of service and rude/stressed staff made this experience unforgettable for all of the wrong reasons.

A Splendid Celebration at Santi's Anlaby! For a recent 70th birthday celebration, our group of 15 descended upon Santi's Southern Italian Bar & Kitchen in Anlaby, and what a delightful experience it was! From the moment we arrived, the staff, particularly Amelia, made us feel incredibly welcome and accommodated. Amelia's service was truly excellent. She was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring everyone's needs were met with a smile and a friendly demeanor. Her helpful suggestions and knowledge of the menu were invaluable, especially for those unfamiliar with Southern Italian cuisine. But the star of the show, without a doubt, was the food! Divine is the perfect word to describe it. Every dish, from appetizers to mains and desserts, was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. It was clear that the freshest ingredients were used, and the portions were generous enough to satisfy even the heartiest appetites. The open kitchen allowed us to witness the culinary magic firsthand, and the aroma wafting through the air only heightened our anticipation. Those who opted for pizzas raved about the thin crust and perfectly balanced toppings, while the pasta dishes were declared "just like Nonna used to make." Special mentions go to the (mention a specific dish that impressed you), which was absolutely divine! The warm and inviting atmosphere of Santi's was perfect for our celebratory gathering. The restaurant itself is unique, and the ability to observe the chefs work their magic added to the overall experience. Overall, our experience at Santi's Anlaby was nothing short of exceptional. The delicious food, attentive service (especially from Amelia!), and wonderful ambiance made it the perfect setting for a memorable 70th birthday celebration. We highly recommend Santi's to anyone looking for a taste of authentic Southern Italian cuisine in a welcoming and friendly environment.

We enjoyed a brilliant evening at Santi - Anlaby. Great atmosphere and great service. We decided we wanted to move tables and this was no issue at all. The portions of food are huge !! And quality of food was perfect. Lots to choose from. Couldn’t fault the evening at all and we even received Complimentary Limoncello shot too 🍋🍸 In our party we had a vegetarian and a gluten free person and this was easily accommodated for. We will definitely be visiting Santi again - hopefully next month when we purchase a wedding dress from Little Bird Boutique next door 👰🏼 perfect place to enjoy a celebration.

Yesterday morning went for post-gym breakfast at Santi’s. First time back at the Red Lion for many decades! We sat outside on the terrace in the sun and had full English breakfasts with coffee and orange juice. The food was outstanding, 10/10, the service was wonderful, so warm and friendly, and there was a nice atmosphere about the place too. Thanks for a wonderful breakfast experience. I’ll be back!

Lovely food and great choice on menu. Agree with other reviews that it is noisy in there but I think a lot of Italian restaurants are. Great service from Sam who kept us informed when our food would be coming as we had a little wait. Would go back but maybe try earlier in the evening it might be less busy and noisy.

Sat on the terrace in the sunshine at lunchtime was fantastic, salad was delicious and washed down with a cold beer. Service was great.

First visit but won't be our last, place was busy for a Thursday night and had an all-round nice atmosphere possibly slightly on the noisy side for some but fine for us. Service was great from start to finish, received a nice welcome on arrival. Alesha was our main waiter who managed to get the right balance of been attentive through the meal without hovering around. The food was very good and of high quality, the portions are on the large side. Our table was too full to sample the deserts this time but will know to save some space for next time.

Had a warm welcome from Beth our lovely waitress, there was no rush to order, very relaxed atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble. My daughter ordered the pesto eggs I ordered the breakfast panino and we shared the American pancakes, absolutely delicious! We highly recommend and will defiantly be back, thank you all!!

Simone was brilliant from start to finish. This is an amazing restaurant. Incredible food, incredible service and an incredible atmosphere. Loved it. Will return many times!

Went here for the first time last night with my partner. When we first arrived for our reservation it was very busy. We were seated very quickly but the room itself is very small and cramped. I couldn’t stretch my arms both ways without touching people in the tables next to us. I kept thinking our drinks would fly off our table because we couldn’t fit the plates the wine in the ice bucket and the glasses on it. Every time one of us tried talking we had to repeat ourselves because it was soo loud it was like we were at the rugby not ideal for dinner. The food in my partners opinion was superb however for me it was sub par the chips were hard on the inside and the ice cream had chunks in it. Then there was a birthday celebration to which the staff all gathered round what room there was and sang and clapped to happy birthday. Spent almost £100 and I wouldn’t go again. The waiters were nice often greeting people as they came in but to me they didn’t need to be that friendly. Maybe it’s that type of place but I didn’t like it. The portions of food are generous to the point we came out feeling very sick. To me there are a lot better places for half the price. If you’re looking to spend a lot then sure but I wouldn’t recommend this place. Often the waiters would go. Outside for cig breaks then come in stand next to us and reek of it not what I want to smell in a restaurant as I’m eating.

Was very much looking forward to this experience once I entered the restaurant on Saturday evening , However, the restaurant was full and very loud which quickly became irritating and difficult to have any conversation with the people I had gone with! It was quickly evident that it was several diners birthdays - and the relentless “Happy Birthday” song being played every 5 minutes with cake and candles brought out with several staff dancing in a line and signing at the top of their voices followed by endless clapping.. was super annoying after the 3rd occasion in 10 minutes! The meatballs starter although tasted ok, was served tepid and not once did any member of staff come over to ask if everything was ok. I ended up leaving most of it. The Italian meats Pizza was tasty but over salty for my personal taste. Today, the day after, I have been on the toilet most of the day with stomach cramps and diarrhoea! Perhaps the tepid meatballs were to blame? Undercooked ? Who knows but can’t say I’m keen to return to this restaurant following this experience!

Nice place but 6 of us were seated in a booth which was quite a squeeze,2 of our party were delayed and we were asked a few times if they would still be joining us,so much so we felt obliged to order our starters (bruschetta) which was delicious,our friends joined us but had to skip starters so we could all eat together.I got carbonara with pork cheek which was basically bacon rind,chewy and horrible,we got an apology from the waiter but that was all.To be fair all other meals were fine but we did find it didnt live up to expectations despite reccomendations,we left feeling rushed and dissapointed and will probably not return unless we were seated at a proper table to eat comfortably and would choose something else to eat.

Great place 1st time we've been, won't be the last. Nothing too much trouble.

What an amazing restaurant. Service was outstanding and I had the best lobster ravioli I’ve ever had … and it beat those I’ve had in Rome and Capri! Well worth a visit. Thank you

Food was truly amazing and made my girlfriend's eyes roll into the back of her head. The sharer dishes are large and well worth the money, so much so that we totally over ordered, but loved every single bite. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was charming, and we had a wonderful time.
