Unexpected gem in the middle of Derbyshire! One of the best Thai meals I’ve had. Nice to have somewhere not afraid to amp up the spice and punchy flavours. Would return in a heartbeat.

Such delicious food. We were staying in Buxton and wandered in to this restaurant without a booking as it looked lovely and they squeezed us in. We ordered a light dinner and I'm super impressed. Service was fast, prices were reasonable and the flavours were fantastic. We ordered a beef salad and pad thai and it was like a party in our mouths. I would definitely come again when we are back in the area. Great atmosphere, would recommend.

Halfway through the meal, I ate a strand of hair that made me feel nauseous and uncomfortable. I have questions about hygiene issues

Welcoming from the moment we stepped inside. Great selection of food and drink. We thought we’d go for the Christmas set menu, get a chance to taste a bit of everything and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The food is excellent, a taste explosion, excellent presentation and perfect portions. We had an amazing time, felt very much looked after would definitely recommend to anyone visiting or living in Buxton

Fantastic food and great service

Drove a long way to come to this Thai as have been in the past and was good. However on this occasion I Booked a table at 5 and they made us stand outside until 5:10 in the rain and cold. Very rude manager who was extremely unapologetic for making is wait. Lost three lots of customers due to this. Would highly recommend going elsewhere.

Lovely restaurant! Our go to place when we stay over in Buxton. Food quality is superb and the staff are really courteous, friendly and so well presented in national costumes. Highly recommend!

As Thai food lovers we were delighted to find a Thai restaurant in Buxton Centre. All started well as they allowed us to book with 5 minutes notice. 👍 Waiter was attentive and our order was taken and a very good papaya salad was delivered to the table. Sadly, this is where it went downhill. Asked for recommendations, wasn’t really given any so ordered Beef Masaman and a fried seafood dish (Talay Sam Rot). Both were highly disappointing. The Masaman was totally lacking in flavour. The beef was pre cooked and added into the sauce at the end. Not cooked in it. The potatoes were hard and the few onions in the dish couldn’t bring it up. 👎🏻 As for the Seafood, this too was not great. The batter was soggy and very little flavour in the sauce. It was just a 6 pieces of protein and a small of veg for £16 👎🏻👎🏻. The noodles took the biscuit! They were served straight from boiling water onto the plate.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 No seasoning, no drizzle of oil. Really poor….I’m hoping this was just on off-night for the team as we left feeling a little underwhelmed. To be fair, we finished our meals because we were hungry and don’t tend to complain in restaurants but it all fell below our (not huge) expectations. Maybe we should have chosen different dishes 👍

Busy Thai restaurant with faultless service and good food

We were staying in Buxton and this place had been recommended. It was that good we went twice. First visit The place was packed. Brilliant food and piping hot. Cocktails were not to my taste. The staff wee at tentative and friendly. Even though the place was packed food came out without a delay. Second visit Not as good as the start. I had an issue with the food but the manageress sorted it. The staff were once again friendly and attentive. Will defo go back next time I’m in Buxton.

Best Thai restaurant I've been to.

Tasty food, warm atmosphere and friendly staff. We were arranged with window seat. Portion is a bit small maybe to present a fine dinning. The bottle soft drink is a mini size 😅

Staying in Buxton for the weekend. Called in here on a Friday night. Had tried to book online but was unable to, so chanced a walk in. All staff were really friendly, food was excellent.

Just popped in ...after going to the opera house . Fitted us in. Very friendly staff ( JUST 2 STAFF ) they worked SO HARD ... Food beautifully presented . Hot and very tasty 😋 Definitely recommend 👌

After reading what others were saying about the food, I was very much looking forward to my visit but was left disappointed. My chicken satay starter came out around 3 minutes after ordering and was clearly reheated. Like, really? You are a restaurant. McDonald's don't even reheat their food - why are you? Absolutely unacceptable. Jungle curry is a favourite Thai dish of mine, but the one I had here barely had any flavour. It was average at best. The acoustics here are terrible - hard surfaces everywhere, and no soft furnishings contribute to a poor ambience. The staff are friendly enough but make up for the other shortcomings.

Not my food, I went there with colleagues. I had a hard time finishing it but certainly not due to a quality problem but rather a personal taste problem

Very disappointing meal. Sadly, this is the second time in a row. The pork stir fry consisted of a few postage stamp sized pieces of pre-cooked belly pork that must have been cut on a bacon slicer. The sauce was just soy sauce, no other flavours. There were a few pieces of fried onion, no spring onion and a couple of very large chunks of stone cold, totally raw red pepper. On the previous occasion, I had the green Thai chicken curry which consisted of a few scraps of pre cooked chicken which had not had chance to take on the flavour of the sauce. The sauce itself was watery but extremely fiery, not at all how it was described on the menu. Service as always, was very good but that is its only saving grace.

Hadn't booked on a busy Monday evening but got seated within half an hour Service was very prompt and food was very fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend

Excellent restaurant in Buxton. My family and I (4 adults) were on a short holiday in Buxton and ate there twice at lunchtime in 3 days. The food was divine. We had red and green curry, special fried rice, prawns dishes in oyster sauce and an amazingly tasty starters with vegetable skewers. Pudding: the young ones of the family had banana fritters and coconut pancakes and LOVED them. The service was top quality: polite and courteous, knowledgeable, quick without rushing. The atmosphere was welcoming, relaxing and friendly. The restaurant was spotless clean. We would strongly recommend to try it.

Gem of a spot. The service was kind and friendly. The food was outstanding. I recommend the tofu Thai red curry, I've forgotten the name of! Best banana fritters in town, no doubt!

I was here with 7 other friends and have to say their food and experience was very different to mine. They all ate meat and enjoyed the food. I’m vegetarian and didn’t. The papaya salad was a tiny and far to hot a dish and didn’t feel worth the cost. The tofu with red Thai sauce was just awful. It was so overcooked, I’d say deep fried…it was like tasteless service was ok and the wine nice. I wouldn’t go again or recommend for a vegetarian.

Appalling customer service !!! Booked a table to arrive and be told they don’t have our booking on system and be turned away with no attempt at solving the situation or even an apology ! very unwelcoming to anyone with prams / children! my only advice would be to avoid this place

We ate there Saturday as a pre theatre meal, we had a very warm welcome really felt at home, the service was very good and the service was quick efficient and always a smile. The food was amazing the Gal Yang had plenty of chicken and the sirloin on the weeping tiger was melt in the mouth and we had a great meal and a great experience. Thanks we'll be coming again .

Been to Simply Thai several times before but tonight the service was poor. Booked a table. Shown to our table. After waiting 10 minutes without being served customers who arrived after us had their order taken before us. Eventually attracted the attention of the waitress. My starter came my wifes did not. Asked where the starter was. 20 minutes later waitress came and told us that the chef was starting the missing starter now. My wife cancelled it as I had already eaten mine. Main course excellent. Had to ask twice for the bill. Food superb as always. Shame about the very poor service.

This is a lovely restaurant. The food is really lovely and the atmosphere is nice. It has a great location. I would definitely return again. The green curry and the red curry were absolutely delicious! I am giving 4 out of 5 stars because the service was good but not excellent. We were waiting a good while to order desert and had to ask them to take our order. The wine wasn't as nice as I expected either. Don't get me wrong, it was good but not as nice as I was expecting so that's why I'm not giving the full 5 stars. Overall it was lovely and I would definitely go again.

Came here last minute in Buxton, so glad that we did. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. We had the mixed starter which is very good value. We then had a variety of dishes, including the pad Thai. This was a busy place, so I would suggest making a reservation in advance. We were lucky that we were able to make a reservation on the day.

I do not usually write reviews but I want to warn people. The restaurant was lovely and the food was good but we felt very cheated when the bill arrived. We had decided to share starters, two between four of us. It was an expensive starter at £9.45. They charged us £9.45 four times. We told them we had only ordered two but they were not at all interested. They said that, as we were sharing, they had doubled up so despite ordering two, we unknowingly received the equivalent of four and therefore had to pay for four. That is absolutely NOT the concept of sharing. And definitely not what we asked for. They were very unhelpful. So the bill was a horrific £20 more than expected. Very disappointed indeed.

Went on a Lunch date with a friend . All We could say was WOW!!!! The food and service was fantastic very relaxed and gave you to time to decide . And the waitress helped very light heartedly with the prenunciations on ordering , all in all a fantastic place and foodie experience will certainly return ...

Really lovely food and the set menu is a complete bargain

Amazing and extremely tasty food. We had a vegetarian starter that was very varied, with tofu and veggie skewers and spring rolls. Main dish was beef and egg fried rice The meat had an extremely tasty sauce and it was very tender. Really recommend it!

Set menu for 2 was great value with good flavours. Tender beef, crispy fried spring rolls etc. would go again, but best to book, or turn up early

Context is very important when dealing with customers. Some of us travel a long way, and after finishing a very demanding and tiring project, finally get a chance to sit down and relax to a treat meal was spoiled by the impatient owner, who was keen to simply get us "processed". I'm not sure if this restaurant phenomenon is just part of the modern dystopian world we have woken up in, but where I come from, it is customary to first ask if we want to order drinks, not been pressured to order quickly at 8 pm, because the kitchen closes at 9! If you don't want to serve people on Wednesday evening then don't open, or better still we won't come again. If I get food to go under pressure, I will consider Wethies or even a McDonald's drive through.

We had a truly wonderful experience at this restaurant. The team were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and efficient. It was impressive to see them work together so seamlessly to serve and clean tables simultaneously. The food was delivered so promptly, that I thought there may have been a mix-up with another order. Once reassured, we enjoyed what was easily the best Thai meal I have ever had. It was so delicious!

Had a lovely shared starter and two mains. Very nice indeed, service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed. Prices were average. Toilets were clean and functional if a little dated. Definitely worth a try if you like Thai food and in Buxton

The food was beautifully presented and was equally delicious. I had the vegetarian starter which encompassed a wide variety of different foods. Definitely recommend. The Pad Mee was also a delicious vegetarian option. The atmosphere was nice and the staff professional and friendly.

Less than average. Prawn in the Phad Thai was stalled. Most dishes are deep fried, which is easier to cook but definitely not authentic.

Went for a meal before the theatre. What a treat, the food is amazing, very tasty, we all enjoyed our meals. Very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant is lovely inside and there is seating outside if you wish. We will definitely be back again.

Everyone who loves Thai food should eat here. The food is as authentic as anywhere I have eaten in Thailand. The prices are very reasonable and the staff attentive and friendly. A must for Asian food lovers.

Been using this restaurant for well over 25 years, and I won't be using it again. Had a chicken starter that was only partially cooked, and the beef main course was tough as leather. We paid up and left and won't be using this establishment again. It was bad enough being served tough beef, but partially cooked chicken is a potentially serious health hazard.

Wow, what amazing flavours. Being a fan of Thai food, myself and family decided to visit simply Thai during our recent visit to Buxton. We were greates at the door by a very friendly lady who took us to our seat. After ordering our food came out quickly and it was delicious. The restaurant was very clean with a nice atmosphere. I would happily recommend this restaurant.

The food was quite nice, although quite average for a Thai restaurant. The service was friendly but very quick. We opted for a set menu and the starters arrived before our drinks. Once we'd finished them the mains were brought out a few minutes later. Everything seemed rushed despite the restaurant not being very busy.

Pre- show dinner, so only had a main course & coffee, but probably could have squeezed in a starter since the service was so quick. Green curry with egg fried rice & duck with ginger and plain noodles. All delicious, although could be more ginger in the duck dish.

Got a few bits to try, wasn’t happy with the chicken - it tasted rubbery and fake was a funny colour and quite tough, although the stir fried egg noodles (number 83) was very tasty. Chicken was horrible and not sure how they can charge the amount they do for precooked and microwaved chicken!

Tried the set meal for 2 absolutely lovely, partner also had a great cocktail. Will definitely use again

My wife and I always visit here when in Buxton because we love Thai food and this restaurant is one of the best ones we have visited. Stir fry of very good quality, no searching for meat here, lots of it and good quality. My beef was excellent indeed and all well presented. Friendly and cheerful service. Rice and noodles fine and reasonable wine prices. No hesitation to recommend and we will return. Edward and Christina McAlpine

Ordered Ped Pad Khing, and despite the waitess being very professional and kind to offer substitutes of veggies and offered to put extra sauce, the dish was bland and lacked flavour. It's a shame, as the restaurant has a lovely decor, atmosphere ( gentle music) and again lovely staff.

We visited Simply Thai last night for the first time, after wanting to go for a while and we were not disappointed. We hadn't booked so didn't expect to get a table but we were seated straight away, after being greeted by a friendly young lady. The menu is great, plenty to choose from, we opted for the set menu as we wanted to try a few different things. The soup starter Tom Kha Gai was absolutely beautiful, very fresh and tasty and not something either of us has had before. Then we had the mixed starter (picture below) this was again very fresh and tasty, my particular favourite was the chicken skewer dipped in the beautiful satay sauce (three dipping sauces accompanied the starter) Then onto the main, the most incredible, tasty, fresh dishes I've had in a long, long time, the red curry was my favourite of the three but they were all delicious. On top of all this incredible food, the service was outstanding. Polite, friendly staff were attentive but not fussy and the restaurant was lovely & very clean. All in all we had a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back 10/10

Finally! A Thai place in the UK that does a PROPER pad kra-pao. Spicy, dry, mince. Not big chunks swimming in sauce. Full of chillis. I nearly died. It was awesome. Would go back any time.

We have visited many times and have never been disappointed! The service is very friendly and first class, the staff are so attentive! The food is just amazing, we have tried many different options from the menu and have loved everything, the food is well cooked and delicious!!!! It is the best Thai restaurant that we have ever eaten at and by far the best restaurant in Buxton in our humble opinion! The set menus offer superb value for money. A must visit! We liked it so much that I have booked our next visit already.

Great Food, fantastic value. We had a late-ish lunch here last Sunday. We would have prefered to eat later and were travelling quite a distance to get to Buxton but this was almost the last slot before 2pm shut down. Fair enough. Great choice of dishes. Wonderful food. Two courses each. One from the set lunch (£18), one from the a la Carte. 2 large Gins, 2 pints and still less than £50. Only criticism. Hoovering and cleaning, ready for the evening service. Didn't bother us too much although you couldn't help be aware. That might intimidate others? Would we revisit. Absolutely. The food was absolutely amazing.

We usually eat here when we are going to the Opera House, it is convenient and the food is good. On this occasion the food was good as usual, we started with a mixed starter which was good although not as exciting as in the past. We chose main courses with 2 and 3 chillis on the menu but although we enjoyed them they did not have much chilli heat. After the waitress took our plates away we were left for about half an hour, nobody came to ask if we wanted anything else, not even the bill. Eventually we caught someone's attention and got coffees but the service essentially was disorganised, nobody seemed to have specific responsibility for us. We will be back, maybe it was just a bad night but please get the service better organised

We booked a table for five people for 7:30pm. We arrived on time but had to wait fifteen minutes before we could sit down. The service was average and sometimes they forgot things or took a while to get their attention. The drinks were bad, beer and soft drinks very flat. Food was ok, the starters were probably the better part of the meal. My main meal was luke warm and had too many onions and not enough meat (duck, #52). When served coffee, the waitress didn't bring sugar and the coffee was quite tasteless itself. Disappointing experience, I wouldn't come back that's for certain.

Stayed over in Buxton Sunday, 28th January. Had already heard good reviews about Simply Thai, so we decided to give it a go. By far the best Thai food I have ever eaten. The Green Curry and Coconut Rice was absolutely delicious. Staff and ambiance was impeccable too. Keep up the good work!

Disappointing is the first thought that springs to mind. We chose to eat here because of the reviews and a couple of local recommendations but we felt really let down. The menu was uninspiring and we asked a waitress advice about needing to order rice with one of the dishes and all she could offer was ‘it’s up to you’. One of our starters was incorrect (greasy fried chicken wings instead of ribs) and the thai green curry was really sweet with a few bits of hard, shiny chicken floating in it. My partners duck and crispy noodle dish was the only redeeming feature of our dining experience. We would not rush back and can’t understand why everyone seems to recommend eating here. We wish we had chosen somewhere else.

Can’t really fault it! Booked a last minute table on a cold Tuesday evening. Restaurant was full and buzzing when we arrived. Mixed starters to share were excellent. Well-priced bottle of Thai red wine. It was a blend, but really tasty. Main course we ordered a whole crispy fish, packed with chilli, mint, fish sauce and peanuts. And a mushroom and tofu salad. All in all a really good meal. And everyone around us seemed to be enjoying theirs too. Not cheap, but not particularly expensive either. We got two courses and a bottle of wine for less than £75, so fairly average for current high street prices. And the food was clearly fresh and good quality. Thanks to all the staff for a great experience!

Interesting culinary experience, fresh tasty and large portions, high standard

The staff are extremely courteous and polite. The food was absolutely amazing and good value. We were delighted to be able to have a Thai on a Sunday lunch time, there is a limited menu but good choice for £12.95 starter/main. Can't wait to return. Also the cappuccino are absolutely delicious, so much so I sourced the beans and now enjoy it at home. The beans are from Buxton Roastery.

Fantastic Thai food, beautifully presented on very decorative dishes. One of the best Thai meals we've had in a while, beats the trendy places in Manchester hands down. The yellow plum sauce with the starter was amazing and fish cakes good size and the taste and texture were perfection. We had green curries and they were excellent too and beautifully served. An added plus is the great selection of teas and desserts, including some Thai dessert options which are often lacking in other Thai restaurants. We'll be back soon!

Nice meal here, tried the set menu (£23.50 each) which included a selection of delicious starters, followed by red curry, stir fried beef in red wine and veg in oyster sauce, all good. Finished off with coconut pancake and banana fritter(not included in set menu), worth a visit and sorry I forgot the photos!

A busy night when we went and go shown to a table upstairs where we’d not been too before. The lighting was a bit bright but apart from that we had a fab meal, tasty and hot and very very spicy, Nice! Service was a little slow but still great especially considering the restaurant was packed.. and we can still see why.

By a country mile the nicest thai food I've had. The food is absolutely unreal and i can't wait to go back. Really nice atmosphere and really friendly staff. Only slight criticism would be the table attentiveness. Had to keep trying to wave at staff for more drinks or to get the bill. Would have been nice to be checked in on a little more!

First luncheon and was looked after very well. Food excellent and value for money. Lady serving me introduced me to the menu and suggested choices. Wish I lived in the area so I could be a regular customer.
